In underground European history circles, there are allegations that the Moors were oppressive to the European populations they dominated. A famous allegation is that the Moors killed some of their white captives and subjects, and used their skin for leather sandals and bags. Supposedly, there was an actual industry based on this activity. Another allegation is that they built many 'harems' - huge villas in which they screwed hundreds of white women at will. Modern white racism they contend, is karmic payback for what the Moors did to them. Because Moorish presence in Europe was for 700 years (between the 1100s and 1700s), it is not inconceivable that some atrocities were committed by the African elite there at one point or the other. That is the nature of man's inhumanity to man, in situations of dominance. |
godofuck231:Some great points. But it was fundamentally the European adoption of 'gunpowder' - a native Chinese mixture traditionally used in festivals for fireworks, which the Europeans then used to build firearms, which led to their military conquest of the whole world, not just Africa. |
godofuck231:When Europeans arrived Benin City in the 15th century, they described it as one of the most beautiful cities on Earth. According to the UK Guardian Newspaper, ''Benin City’s planning and design was done according to careful rules of symmetry, proportionality and repetition now known as fractal design. The mathematician Ron Eglash, author of African Fractals – which examines the patterns underpinning architecture, art and design in many parts of Africa – notes that the city and its surrounding villages were purposely laid out to form perfect fractals, with similar shapes repeated in the rooms of each house, and the house itself, and the clusters of houses in the village in mathematically predictable patterns. As he puts it: “When Europeans first came to Africa, they considered the architecture very disorganised and thus primitive. It never occurred to them that the Africans might have been using a form of mathematics that they hadn’t even discovered yet.” https://www.theguardian.com/cities/2016/mar/18/story-of-cities-5-benin-city-edo-nigeria-mighty-medieval-capital-lost-without-trace |

Englandboy:Many European aristocratic families have Moorish ancestors, including the British Royal family. Those European families still honour their Moorish ancestors today, with family plaques and crests like these below: https://i.pinimg.com/564x/1c/fa/95/1cfa959cdd1fedcda717cedc0ae5f82b.jpg https://i.pinimg.com/564x/bd/6f/7c/bd6f7c2c4c2dcd29d8e0067c3c18bda1.jpg https://i.pinimg.com/564x/b6/f6/cc/b6f6cc834ef9ad09d870b99119a30663.jpg |
NwaNimo1:It was the Moors that rescued them from their 'Dark Ages', which was characterised by mass poverty and illiteracy in Europe. It was the Moorish influence in administration, education, art, architecture, and science, that led to the European Renaissance, which was the springboard for the Industrial Revolution. Funnily enough, we have no idea that WE contributed heavily to the Industrial Revolution. |

Are you people aware that as recently as 300 years ago, we had black African monarchs in Europe? Some were possibly of Nigerian origin. They were West Africans, and were the famous Moors of history. ''History confirms that the Moors ruled in Europe -- primarily Spain and Portugal -- for almost 700 years. They were known for their influence in European culture, but not many people know that the Moors were actually Europeans of African descent. Moors were usually depicted as being "mostly black or very swarthy, and hence the word is often used for negro," according to the Oxford English Dictionary. https://i.pinimg.com/564x/90/25/f7/9025f7b0042c173d4254bdb6e83019b4.jpg Several written works at the time also confirm that. The 16th century English playwrights William Shakespeare used the word Moor as a synonym for African and Christopher Marlowe used Moor and African interchangeably. Author and historian Chancellor Williams said "the original Moors, like the original Egyptians, were black Africans." An Arab chronicler also described Moorish Emperor Yusuf ben-Tachfin as "a brown man with wooly hair." In European Art, Moors are also often shown with African features: pitch black, frizzled hair, flat and wide face, flat-nosed, and thick lips. The Drake Jewel, a rare documented piece of jewel from the 16th century, seemed to show a profile of a Black king dominating the profile of a white woman. Moreover, Moors were known to have contributed in areas of mathematics, astronomy, art, cuisine, medicine, and agriculture that helped develop Europe and bring them from the Dark Ages into the Renaissance. Generations of Spanish rulers have allegedly tried to abolish this era from the historical record. But recent archaeology determined that Moors indeed ruled in Al-Andalus for more than 700 years -- from 711 A.D. to 1492.'' - https://www.blackhistory.com/2019/08/moors-black-kings-queens-ruled-europe-almost-700-years.html#:~:text=African%20Americans...-,Black%20Kings%20(and%20Queens)%20Ruled%20Parts%20of%20Europe%20For%20Almost,actually%20Europeans%20of%20African%20descent |

donnie:Don't mind these ignorant Nigerian youths. No wonder they are filled with self-hate and racial inferiority complex. They have near ZERO knowledge of their African history, including the fact that what we call civilization today, was the work of their forbears. |
osuofia2:You are ignorant. Go and study history, you thick skull. Slavery was a universal institution on Earth, and white slaves existed and were the slaves sold in Rome. |
PrinceOfLagos:Yawwnnnn. I'm sure Nigerians are way smarter than to ''trust'' you with their multibillion dollar budget. Mr Saint (Until you see power, then na siren everywhere plus trips to Milan for wifey on Gucci shopping. THIEF.) |
PrinceOfLagos:Who mentioned Tinubu? I mentioned YOU. If YOU were appointed to high public office, YOU would use that position to enrich yourself. I know it, You know it. Now shut up and run along. |
dasparrow:They've started and finished other rail projects, so they will start and finish this one too. There is no room for 'abandoned projects' in the Buhari administration. You dull-headed people should have learned that by now. |
SILVERLINES:Olodo. It will only be abandoned if you PDP crooks are allowed back into office. Which won't happen, so we will see it to completion, just like the other railways lines that have been completed by this govt. |
PrinceOfLagos:Abeg get lost. You people come online pretending to be saints and angels. Let them give you state governorship for one week, and you would turn a multi-millionaire in dollars. I know it. You know it. Now run along and let me hear word jare. Rubbish. |
PrinceOfLagos:If YOU were that 'oga at the top', will YOU not collect the same billions? 99% of you that moan about Nigeria are just as corrupt and corruptible as any official out there, and would likely do worse if you held their positions. Without a doubt you would all grease your palms and enrich yourselves. It's the Nigerian way. So kindly spare us your holier-than-thou BS. |
KingOfBoyz1:How is it a scam? The contract has been awarded. I'm sure people like you said 'scam' when Lagos-Ibadan, Abuja-Kaduna, and Warri-Itakpe-Ajaokuta lines were being built and are now working perfectly. We really don't need your type in Nigeria. You're useless. |
Nigeria Approves $11.2 Billion Lagos – Calabar Coastal Line The government of Nigeria has approved the $11.17bn Lagos – Calabar coastal standard-gauge line, and confirmed contracts for the Kano – Jibia and Port Harcourt – Maiduguri lines. https://img2.chinadaily.com.cn/images/202106/11/60c31cc6a31024adbdcd7d2d.jpeg The projects were announced by the minister of information and culture, Mr Lai Mohammed, who briefed local journalists following a Federal Executive Council (FEC) chaired by vice president, Mr Yemi Osinbajo, on August 4. Mohammed said two memos were approved during the meeting, including the ratification of the president’s approval for the award of contract for the Lagos – Calabar line. “This particular route is very important because after the Lagos – Kano route, this Lagos – Calabar Coastal route will link all the coastal cities in the country,” he says. The government announced in July that the London-based Standard Chartered Bank had agreed to provide $US 11bn in financing for the line, after an earlier agreement with the Export-Import (Exim) Bank of China fell through. The Federal Ministry of Transport signed an agreement with China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) in May 2014 to build the line. The line will run from Lagos – Sagamu – Ijebu-Ode – Ore – Benin City – Sapele – Warri – Yenogoa – Port Harcourt – Aba – Uyo – Calabar – Akamkpa – Obudu Ranch, with branch lines from Benin-City to Agbor, Ogwashi-ukwu, Asaba, Onitsha and Onitsha Bridge and from Port Harcourt to Onne Deep Sea Port. The project will be constructed in two phases, with the first phase running between Calabar and Port Harcourt, while the second phase will run between Port Harcourt and Lagos through Onitsha. The project will include the construction of 1402km of line, as well as 22 stations and ancillary facilities, administrative space, and level crossings. Other works include the installation of safety systems, electrical systems, lighting systems, and signalling systems, as well as the laying of tracks and electricity lines. The second memo approved the funding for work on the Kano – Jibia and Port Harcourt – Maiduguri lines, construction of which is underway. https://www.railjournal.com/infrastructure/nigeria-approves-us-11-17bn-lagos-calabar-coastal-line/ |
Drsnives:Your view is irrelevant. |
macof:You are a crook and you've been on this site for years with an agenda to confine Africa to the 'jungle' of colonialist historical deceit. Nobody should take YOU serious, because any research that remotely suggests Africans were anything but primitive hut dwellers in the bush is quickly and always attacked by you as 'lacking evidence'. Even when the evidence stares you in the face, you belittle, ignore, or vilify it. You are a truly sick, disgusting person. |
gartamanta:YOU ARE A THIEF, PROJECTING YOUR GREED UNTO OTHERS. If your headline is true, why did the Buhari govt offer Kanu the 5 SE states to form his 'Biafra'? An offer he refused because it did not include Rivers State! Benue state too! https://www.vanguardngr.com/2017/07/rejected-biafra-5-igbo-states-nnamdi-kanu/ THIEVES. MAKE UNA COME CARRY NIGERIA'S OIL THIEF NA. Of course Kanu knows that it takes billions of dollars of investment over many years to develop gas infrastructure to commercial levels. That's why he doesn't value those ''huge gas reserves'' as much as the Niger Delta crude oil, which is 'Money Now'. |
allcomage:You are ignorant. The so-called 'ethnic groups' were actually created by the colonialists. Africa never had language-based ethnic blocs. Identity was based on lineage, NOT language spoken. This is why even today within our 'ethnic groups', we have deadly conflicts over land and resources. |
bobowaja:But where is the Ethiopian miitary? Where is their air force? Naija has its problems, but this kind of thing can't happen here. |
. . . By their ears ye shall know them... https://i.pinimg.com/564x/7b/9d/8b/7b9d8b0b218c0aa07abcf7b93f5a16b2.jpg |
