Politics / Re: Rebuilt After Fire: Zulum Opens Monday Market, Waives Two Years Rent For Traders by Refugee1: 9:26pm On Oct 24, 2023
People praising the Governor have no clue how the market got burnt in the first instance. I practically live in Borno State. A fire incident that engulfed the whole market while the fire service is less than 1km away. A fire incident that happened on the night of the presidential election day when there were indications that APC was losing on account of market associations opting for Atiku.

By the way, those praising the Governor should visit the state to have first hand information. Apart from the interchange at Custom roundabout and a new one being built at Borno Express junction, which other significant development has happened in the state. Forceful relocation of IDPs from Maiduguri to their various LGAs without adequate support for their livelihoods and security. Most of them are sitting ducks for the insurgents. Kidnapping for ransom is happening on a daily basis and is largely unreported. Most communities have to pay taxes to the insurgents. Killings also happen often and also largely unreported. Borno needs critical support. I am Igbo by the way but I weep for that state
Politics / Re: Atiku Unveils 10 Purported Lies Of Tinubu’s Administration In 117 Days by Refugee1: 11:34pm On Sep 24, 2023
skj1377:
Well Tinubu has not borrowed any money give him credit for that. Buhari was looking to borrow few billion dollars less than 30days to end of his tenure.

It is erroneous to say the present government is not borrowing money. The FGN savings bonds that were issued in June, July, August and September are borrowings from the public.

Amount realized from these bond issues is at least 400 billion naira. In essence, the present government has borrowed over 1.5 trillion naira from the public since it assumed power.

How about the FGN Bonds that was issued this August. What about the ones planned for September till December. Are these ones not borrowing? Someone please enlighten me.
Family / Re: Problem With My Wife, Mother, And Mother Inlaw. by Refugee1: 12:50pm On Feb 20, 2023
This is an immature response.

If the wife had died as a result of complications from child birth, the man will also move on. Infact it is easier for a man to move on after the death of a spouse.

An only child always face this situation. Your mum will always want to have her way in your general life. Unfortunately you have to live with it as nothing will make her change her attitude. I will advise you don't try to change the status quo as that can escalate tensions if not well handled.

Children have a way of bridging divides so concentrate on making a couple of babies and see things fall into place into place. Male children especially will be ideal as your mother will be rest assured that her lineage will continue. So please read every available material on the best times to copulate with your spouse to have a higher chance of having a male child

Zonefree:
" can’t force my wife to call my mom because she didn’t do no wrong."

This is where I confirmed you're not yet a Man. I'm very sure you didn't tell us the full story. You withheld some information just to glorify your wife and mother in-law. Your post is just to paint your mom as the bad person here.

Ask yourself, if you drop dead now(God forbid), what do you think will happen in the next 6 months?

I'll tell you.

Your mum will be shattered. She'll mourn you till the rest of her life. She may not recover from the shock as you're her only son.

But, your beloved wife and her mother in-law will move on. Within six months of your death, another man will be shinning your beloved wife's congo and there's nothing you can do from the grave. Your beloved wife will remarry after your memorial service, if you're a Christian.

Out of all your family members, it's only your wife that is not your relative. Be wise.

Shalom.
Politics / Re: Peter Obi Is Unknown In Taraba, Says Supporter Who Went For Field Analysis (Pix) by Refugee1: 5:58pm On Feb 19, 2023
I am not trying to defend Chigozie. I am an Igbo man working in LGAs in Borno State. It is the second biggest state after Niger. More than half of the LGAs don't know Peter Obi.

I do field work in Niger State too. Beyond Minna and some of the locations bordering the FCT, most of the LGAs don't know him. Bida, Kontagora, Mokwa, New Bussa are some of the LGAs with massive population yet he's practically unknown there.

Naturally I want PO to win and I will vote for him. But let's not dispute the fact that more needs to be done to deepen PO's presence in the north

Nchenches:

Chigozie, you are fake and an impostor. You can only deceive Tinubu urchinss. Who in Nigeria has not heard of Peter Obi, unless one living in a cage in Nigeria?

I've been married for 11 years now with 3 children. I am well in my 40's. I've had all sorts of girls since I became an adult. If I wanted somebody to run errands and cook, I will employ a maid and cook instead of getting married. If I want to satisfy my sexual desires, I will be buying short term love which by the way is cheaper than getting married. Marriage goes beyond that.

Maybe when you get married you will understand that having a happy home is more important than having an over bloated ego

I've been the one going to market every weekend for the past one year. I also cook for the family every weekend. Its very satisfying seeing my wife and kids happy when I'm in the kitchen. My wife does weekday cooking and chores so it only natural to support her and not burden her with chores

Politics / Re: Brazilian President To Lead Delegation Of Businessmen To Nigeria by Refugee1: 9:46am On Jun 22, 2012
I don't know what is good about the planned visit by the Brazilians. I remember in late 2010 a group of investors from the Nordic countries (Norway, Sweden, Finland) came to Nigeria with good intents of investing in the nation's power sector. I was representing a company in Norway who wanted to invest in Oyan dam, Ikere gorge, Dadin Kowa Dam and Farin Ruwa Dam. the combined hydroelectric capacity of these dams is at least 50MW. After all the fanfare, nothing came out of the visit. Among the investors that came then were finance institutions from these countries who were willing to invest some good money. Remember GEJ was the President then.

I don't know how familiar NLanders are with Gurara hydroelectric power station. The first phase of 15MW has been completed and commissioned in late 2010 but up till now power is yet to be evacuated from the facility. The reason being lack of transmission facility. The cost running a transmission line and switch yard from Gurara to the nearest transmission network is about one fifth the cost of the plant. Yet the Government is doing nothing about that power wasting daily.

Or do we talk about the billions cubic feet of natural and associated gas being wasted annually while NNPC and the Government is looking the other way. What about infrastructures that are constructed without maintenance plans.

We can rebuild our economy and improve our infrastructure without foreign investments if he Government applies a holistic approach. Let us apply the principle that some countries as poor as Nigeria before once adopted, that is, if we can't produce it we don't need it. I don't see anything good coming out of this planned visit. It will go the way of many similar visits in the past.

Culture / Re: Giving And Recieving With The Left Hand. by Refugee1: 12:34pm On Oct 31, 2011
I had a funny experience last week when I went to the Abuja trade fair. I wanted to buy ticket at the entrance booth. I was holding a heavy load on my right hand and gave the attendant money with my left hand. He ignored me and was selling to people who came after me. I was dumbfounded. When the guy finally decided to attend to me, he said I was arrogant and warned me never to use my left hand in giving people things. I asked him if the left hand was cursed or if God was stupid to create it, to which he had no answers. He later apologized, collected the money from my left hand, gave me a ticket with his right hand and I collected with my left hand. It's all a matter of outlook in life. There are no ethics, codes or norms that says the left hand cannot be used to give or receive.

Religion / Re: I Saw Jesus Christ Twice In My Bedroom - Rev. Uma Ukpai by Refugee1: 6:02pm On Sep 22, 2011
I don't really hold anything against preachers. I was in one of his crusades in 2009 in Presbyterian Church Nyanya Abuja. I really went because of the tales I've been hearing about his powers and all that. I was really disappointed at the end of the day. The first night he was preaching about wealth and boasting about the number of hummer jeeps he has (4 to be precise). Mind you half of the people that came to the church were poor. Is this the kind of message you preach?

It didn't end there, he said that Gowon did not escalate the Nigerian civil war and had no powers to stop the war (Gowon is his very good friend). Can he refer to history where Gowon was celebrating the fall of Aba in 1968 during his birthday in Kano.

Those who said he doesn't preach money might be interested to know this. The following sunday after the sermon when it came to offering he started with the popular line that "God has revealed that 10 people will come out and give 1 million naira each". Of course no one came out because the members are poor. Maybe God didn't see correctly. He scaled down to 500K, no one came out, 200K no one, 100K only one man. It went on and on till he reduced to 50 naira because according to him he wants the blessings of God to go round. I didn't come out even though I had the money (it takes a lot of courage not to considering that virtually all the church members came out and we were very few standing there). So is this not preaching money?

He came with police escorts and lodged at Transcorp Hilton for the 3 days he spent at the expense of the church. Those who are familiar with the rates at the Hilton know that the cheapest rooms go for at least 70K excluding meals and room service. Why couldn't find a cheaper lodging and save the church some money?
Politics / Re: Power Projects At 80% Completion, Says Govt by Refugee1: 2:08pm On Sep 08, 2011
The Federal Government always say shit. They are always on top of every situation even when the reality suggest otherwise.

Okay, let's assume that the utilities manage to generate more than 4,000MW, the transmission and distribution infrastructure cannot effectively evacuate this amount of power. The last time the utilities attempted to 4,000MW in July this year, the transmission network nearly collapsed.

What happened to the $3.5 billion contract that GEJ signed in September last year for the construction of a national super grid? This is exactly a year since the contract was signed yet nothing is on ground to show that the project has commenced.

The 15MW first phase Gurara hydroelectric station was commissioned sometime last year. Up till now the power being continuously generated is yet to be evacuated. What stops the government from constructing say a 66KV transmission line from Gurara to maybe Suleja and environs. And why was transmission infrastructure not included in the overall cost of erecting the plant?

The Rivers state government has the capacity to generate over 100MW from their Omoku gas turbine IPP station, yet they cannot because they been warned by the Federal Government not to feed into the grid. Why?

The Oyan dam and Ikere Gorge hydroelectric stations have enormous potentials to generate 30MW combined.

In 1983 when 3 turbines of 3MW each were installed in Oyan, one of the plants was run for about 50 minutes after which the entire system was shut down and abandoned till today. Despite the fact that a transmission line was constructed, why was the power not supplied to Abeokuta and environs?

In Ikere, 2 turbines of 3MW each were supplied but not installed since 1985 till now. Why?

There are a good number of other dams with hydroelectric components such as Tiga dam, Dadin Kowa dam, etc all lying waste.

Above all, why does the government depend on Shell for gas supply for the thermal power stations. Anytime Shell turns the valve on gas supply, the entire nation is thrown into darkness. Electricity supply is a matter of national security for countries who know the value of it.

So GEJ stop talking and start acting.
Religion / Is The Bible Contradictory by Refugee1: 10:22am On Aug 17, 2011
The bible sometimes gets me confused and I wonder if it was actually inspired by God. For example one of the ten commandments says 'thou shall not kill'. Note that there was no condition attached to this commandment. It explicitly said don't kill. We still find in the same bible where God commanded the Israelite to conquer their enemies in battle. How can God give two contradictory commands. There are many more contradictions. Can someone please explain this.
Religion / Did God Create One Man And Woman by Refugee1: 10:12am On Aug 17, 2011
I always find it confusing when the Bible says that God created Adam and Eve and that all mankind are their offspring. The Quran also says the same. If it was so how did the different races come to be. Lets assume that Adam and Eve were both white, how did the black man and the china man and the indian enter the world. Let us also assume that they are of different races, say white and black, I know the best they can give birth to is a mulato (half caste). Someone please educate me on this.

Religion / Re: RCCG Founder's Family Wants Election For Pastor Adeboye's Successor by Refugee1: 4:21pm On Aug 02, 2011
I think Adeboye should share the spoils with the Akindayomi's. After all, their father initiated the process which started from mini tempo and blossomed to the present RCCG.

Whoever said church is not big time money making machine should have their head examined. We should just accept the fact that preachers are making huge profits out of the ignorant followers. They exploit the poverty, illiteracy and docile nature of their followers to the fullest. If a member starts going astray, they will use the fear of the holy spirit and witches to keep him in line.

Some people call them men of God and I keep wondering if they are men of God who are we, men of the devil? Some say we shouldn't judge but we witness firsthand their manipulations and we are waiting for God to come like Rambo and flush out the bad eggs. Only illiterates think like that. A literate man has to be capable of rational reasoning.

Bruce Wills said God has left Nigeria in the movie "Tears of the sun" and I think I believe him.
Politics / Re: Nigeria Spends N98 Trillion Importing Food Between 2007 And 2011 by Refugee1: 4:47pm On Jul 20, 2011
The government earns more than 42 billion naira daily from crude oil sales. That's why they can afford to waste resources importing food instead of investing in agriculture. Have you ever assessed the federal ministry of agriculture and water resources or their state equivalents? They do virtually nothing except collect salaries at the end of every month. The numerous dams in existence that were meant to boost agriculture are lying waste. Youth empowerment is almost non-existent (forget about the shows they do on TV in the name of youth empowerment). Fertilizer plants are not working and there no incentives for small scale farmers who constitute the bulk of Nigerian farmers. The PDP has consistently failed to lift the nation in the last 12 years. Let's see what GEJ has to offer.
Politics / Fighting Crime by Refugee1: 9:55am On Jun 17, 2011
Do Nigerian security agencies have a template for fighting crime or do they fight crime as they come? I know in developed and some developing countries, they have crime specific templates, for example templates for fighting terrorism, car jacking, heist, and so on. Someone please clarify.
