Leopantro: ‘National Hospital has no quarantine centre’

AUGUST 9, 2014 BY SUNDAY ABORISADE AND ADE ADESOMOJU, ABUJA

The Federal Government has yet to create a quarantine centre for the treatment of persons suspected to have been infected with the deadly Ebola virus disease.

Spokesperson for the National Hospital, Abuja, Dr. Tayo Haastrup, who stated this in a telephone interview with one of our correspondents, however, said that the Federal Ministry of Health had established centres in collaboration with some private health facilities in the nation’s capital city.
which private health facilities? Can we have names so people know where to go to?

No Ebola patient died in Abuja says Abuja Doctor who treated suspected patient.

Rumours have been flying around that an Ebola patient died at the Garki National Hospital in Abuja but that’s very far from the truth. We spoke to one of the doctors at Zankli Hospital, the hospital reported to have started treatment on the patient suspected to have contracted Ebola. The patient was eventually transferred to Garki National Hospital. According to the doctor, the patient in question had had issues with diabetic coma and had background retroviral infection. The patient’s kidney shut down, he was eventually transferred from Zankli to Garki hospital where he eventually died. This had nothing to do with Ebola whatsoever. The public will do well to confirm issues concerning Ebola, it causes and other related information before spreading them. We owe it to ourselves to spread the facts on Ebola and not misinform the public. Check @EbolaFacts for more facts on Ebola, visit www.ebolafacts.com for quick facts.
. Abeg o, make Una no come give person Ebola from high BP!

Nigeria! We Nigerians know how to lie to ourselves, our military cannot speak the truth to save their lives and now our health sector! Lagos state has been blabbing since and if you listen to them, it would really seem like they know what they are doing, you people should better be truthful about this thing so people can come to our aid before it becomes a blown out epidemic!

The books are usually better than the movies, you might find more details there, also you know the census board went through it after accusing the producers that the story was one sided so I guess they might have cut off some controversial scenes. I've not watched the movie sha, neither have I read the book, so you don't havta take my word for it.

soulglo: Please ignore that. People like that end up damaging their children. A little kid says something in Nigeria and they start bouncing the kid from pastor to pastor and by the time the kid is 7 he would be the one confessing things that people have put in his head. You are doing a good job with your kids. Years later you people will laugh about this. You don't have to defend your parenting skills. All you need to do is keep reminding her that it is not a nice thing to say because it hurts her brother's feelings. Don't make a big deal out of it or it will become a big deal
thank you jare, seriously I've been wondering why I paid him heed in the first place.

tonididdy: because I know kids even better than the parents who own them.

Let me give u a weird maybe embarassing scenario of how far I bond with kids:

A 2yr old baby( very familiar to me because I have been a friend since d day she was born) belonging to my neighbour was crying, like mad crying and they took her to her mum and her crying increased, her dad same thing ,then it got to my turn and she just went quiet instantly when I carried her, she slept off in my arms fewmins later...the parents were like 'e get wetin u give am chop'...of cos they were joking cos they know I bond with kids, not just theirs but every kid I come across and stay around with...

It gets even weird when in a public transport. A kid walks up to me and just wants to play with me,till the ride is over...I always look at the parent and I see them smile back at me, then its playtime and when we get to our desatination.the kid can't just stop turning back to look at me once more or wave bye.

So I know kids...
Well, in this case you don't know my kid better than I do, I was once a kid also and I have siblings whom I took care of..... So you say I should perform deliverance on my five year old because of her innocent and funny statement? A five year old, do you even remember anything you did at ten years talk less of 5 years?

Na wa o, hope is not your type that will be flogging little kids and saying they know what they are doing? If you take every word of a little kid literally, you will worry tire.

tonididdy: wow that tone of your daughter, she needs deliverance plus the attitude of the people around her could have contributed to her been so...maybe that's the kind of tone she grew up in

A 5yr old aint a baby anymore.
and you know this because.........? undecided
Music/Radio › Re: Your Thoughts On Our Radio Stations, Programs And Their OAPs. by repogirl(f): 7:28am On Aug 01, 2014
Rhythm FM is drab here in Abuja, I could manage them when I was in Lagos, my fav OAP in Lagos is Freeze, the guy makes it seem so easy and very entertaining.

in Abuja, I love kiss fm. 99.9, and my fave OAPs are the duo of Gang and Anita on the morning experience. Gang is just funny sometimes, they could do better though. I love Bunmi also but he talks a bit much, his show is quite informative sha but can get boring sometimes. I listen to only kiss fm cos they are the only ones who can hold my attention, they play great music. Cool fm abuja's OAPs talk too much and its like they love the sound of their own voices, I hardly listen to them.

tuffgongjo: maybe u need to pay more attention to her, read this book by sheldon sidney "master of the game"for some insight into how such behavior can turn real, not meaning bad thing ooo.
that one is fiction, I've read it and nothing like that happening here, she takes very good care of him sef and I make her understand that he's a baby, that's why he acts like that.

if I had a penny for every crazy thing my kids say.....

Ruq: You can't really say, don't be so definite.

I meant it when I wrote in my book that they hate me I was a little older than he his, like you said don't go overboard when rebuking them, I was always met with maximum rebuking then and they never apologized. Madam I can tell you that I have enough rage in me that I can share with hundreds of people.

Parents don't really know what goes on in the minds of kids, I'm not saying dont strike or rebuke them, but strike the balance between love and discipline.

Only because I turnt out to be a rational being that makes me control the rage, sometimes I'm just glad I have the rage, I bet you don't know being angry sometimes make one angry.

Unknowingly they create monsters, and we wonder why they're serial killers.
I was referring to a five year old kid getting over it, ofcourse if he was a teenager I would be saying a different thing..... Trust me I know a thing or two bout discipline, my father was a flogger with wire, and he wouldn't stop till he saw the welts, even blood on your skin, I became a Chester and the beating didn't have any effect, the man tire for me sef.
I was angry also but to be free and have peace of mind, you have to let your rage and anger go...... You have to move on....i moved on, my relationship with my father isn't smooth, I hardly talk to him but when I do, I try to smile and act like we are good, no grudges.

as an adult with kids, I see he thought he was doing the right thing, not his fault as there is no manual for raising kids. You go with what you know, its just so sad that parents don't know squat when raising kids.

please let go of the rage, you'll feel so much better.
Family › Re: Pls Help Before My Sister Kills Me. by repogirl(f): 7:30pm On Jul 31, 2014
Twenty seven? Haba, she is an old adult nao! Give her space, you have talked to her. If she likes she shouldn't be wise, that's her business. If she wants to stay out late, allow her nao, she's no kid, whatever happens na she go take her head carry am.

She believes she's old enough to be making her decisions so leave her abeg. If she needs your input she will let you know. She might be misbehaving because you are always talking and that will sound like nagging to her. Do you know how annoying that can be?

your sister will marry o, allow her flex and find husband nao!

I wasn't the easiest kid to bring up but I love my parents for giving me space to make my mistakes and learn from them, now am married and a mother of kids.... I have my own people to manage and using my own little experience and with help from God, I know I'm trying so plsssssss, don't talk your sisters ear off, you have talked enough, its time for her to do the thinking.

also, instead of talking to her, what you might be doing is lecturing her, that is harping on the same darn point over and over again as if she's a kid, that will not achieve any result. Just say what you have to say in a few sentences and walk away, leaving her to reflect on it.

Godmystrength: i can only smile. He pushed me to the wall o. in fact, he suggested i get the money from my parents and because i was just too ashamed of myself, i could not ask my parents (i have borrowed from them in the past and they didn't collect it back from me plus he is owing my mum some money he hasn't paid back), that was why i had to ask my sisters.

I have once opened a thread on NL concerning my case o but when i saw that some people were already resulting to insults and name calling, i asked for it to be deleted.
your husband is shameless, I'm soooo sorry to say, he is supposed to be giving money to your parents but instead he is comfortable to be dependent on them.

pls handle your finances, create a budget, save a little and never touch it. It will cause problems but you have to be strong. I really don't understand the kind of man that will sit and depend on the wife and her family.

as a godly person, I would have said be patient and long suffering but this man doesn't seem to deserve this so pls as a human being who is being taken advantage of, plan for your future because the way things are, you are on your own o!

since he wants you to take up his position, take it up fully and spend your money wisely... Not as he dictates but as you see fit! Dnt disrespect him o, just make your decisions and let him know why you did it. If he doesn't like it he should go and make his own money.

Kids never really mean what they say, the boy is just upset, he'll get over it soon enough but then parents shouldn't also provoke kids. Don't go overboard when punishing or rebuking them.

my five year old girl is always saying she wants God to take away her brother and send her another brother cos he destroys her stuff but leave them for a while and they'll begin playing as if nothing ever happened.
Family › Re: Whose Responsibility Is To Pound Yam. Husband Or Wife by repogirl(f): 4:58pm On Jul 31, 2014
Hmmmn, for me I think she should have asked him if he was going to pound it before putting it on fire...... also she shouldn't have said it like in front of a visitor, men are proud and the husband will think the visitor will be like so this is how the man cooks for his wife.

my husband helps me cook sometimes, like yesterday evening, I prepared all the ingredients down and texted him asking if he would want to cook the okra soup, he prepares his in a special way and I still haven't gotten it, he replied affirmative and came home.

I would never approach him in front of a friend to ask him to cook because the friend might read funny meanings into it and I don't just assume he'll do it, I ask because I know he might be busy or not in the mood.

so it's not really anyone's duty to pound, some men like my father never for once pounded yam, so my mom did it. I dnt have to pound yam in mt house anyway as my husband is allergic to it.
