CultureRe: Evidence That The Igbos Are The Oldest Group In The South Lies Along The Coasts by Rexwalters1: 5:53pm On Nov 27, 2021
SlayerForever:
This language map shows what the coast may have looked like perhaps a thousand years ago.

In the map there are 47 languages scattered across the coast. Out of that 47 about 42 were either partly formed from Igbo and other languages or have Igbo descent. This may support the fact that many other tribes met the Igbos on the coast and thus were influenced by the enduring Igbo tongue as they stayed close to the Igbos. Also many were formed by one Igbo ancestor and another non Igbo ancestor. Check Yakurr ethnicity.

If Igbo impacted so much languages it is likely they were the biggest tribe around. Much much much bigger than Nigeria wants people to believe. There is reason to believe that the Igbo tribe occupied an area far and wide into present day Yorubaland. And a recent research by an Igbo linguist Maazi Ogbonna Okoro revealed that the Igbo area still stretches far into Kogi state to the North. If the Igbo area was so large it is only probable that they occupied the nearly the entire coastline down south. Along with the Efik people(another very old tribe). These other small tribes along the coast with languages numbering near 50 probably came around later on from external migrations. Or may have been brought by Igbos from their far journeys in other lands. There is also the possibility they existed in their area all the while with the Igbos but didn't have the vigoristy or influence of the Igbos, and the Igbo wide population spread didnt allow them grow in population much. Those who are big today absorbed a lot of Igbos and it shows in their large number of Igbo speakers today.
You must be blind? The igbos are the interior people, which 5 present Eastern states is on the coast of the map?

I'll only take those Biafra agitators seriously after 2023. If they can sustain the tempo of this their agitation after Buhari's exist then I'll personally support them.

What I detest and it's unacceptable is the agitation borne out of anger and bitterness that the person you supported loss an election.

PDP LOST ELECTIONS IN 2015 AND OTHER NIGERIANS INCLUDING THE SS WALKED AWAY TO RESTRATEGISE, BUT NOT THE SE. 6 YEARS AFTER THEY ARE STILL ANGRY AND AGITATING.
Which agitation? They should all be shot for disturbing the peace of Nigeria, you are correct they romanced with pdp for 16 years, even giving the former President honorary Igbo citizenship Jonathan Ebele Goodluck Azikiwe aka JEGA, then pdp was sweeting them, immediately they lost, we want our own country?

Imagine if the government had succeeded in deregulation then, by now there's no way that our refining capacity will be upto 250000 litres combined, with jobs created and its positive impact on our foreign exchange but the irresponsible APC members then denied us the opportunity
Had APC as a party been created then in 2012? Nigerians always looking for some else to blame for their own lack of vision & mumurism? Let me take a wild guess, pdp wants to deny you that same opportunity today? You people in Nigeria want to enjoy without any sacrifice by your ancestors & their descendants?

You are still mentally stuck with production and consumption subsidies mix up.
The price at which we presently import refined products for instance includes a lot of offshore taxes and levies which can be offset with onshore production.

What the poster was alluding to is that government of advanced nations do pay subsidies and I said those subsidies were largely onto industry, not consumption.

The international price of crude is a large determinant but not the only determinant of the landing cost of PP's and government can work with Dangote for instance to support production and stabilise the price of the crude he buys from them. The United States does this very well by its huge crude reserves which it tops up when prices are low and releases them to its local refineries when prices go high. That is a form of production subsidy via hedging.
Nonsense go back & study economics 101 again, in simple & plain English Fuel Subsidy must be removed. Everything that has a beginning, must also have an end.

Let those our corrupt siblings NANS shut down the nation, aren’t they the ones that will suffer the consequences? Pdp tried to do it 10 years ago they agitated, today they are still suffering from their mumurism.

Fuel subsidy or not,

Why should we pay through our nose for what we have in our soil,

Especially, the Niger deltans , why should we pay high amount for what is deposited free in our soil
,

It's a pity , useless leaders since independence,

When the oil dries up, you people will buy PMS at N5000 per litre,

Useless country
Like you said given free, that you lazy minded people refused to add any value to, has now turned to a liability. Jonathan tried to remove subsidy the lazy NANS they complained, 10 years after President Buhari wants to do the right thing, they still complain?

If they had done the right throng 10 years ago, we would have been out of this quagmire by now, you don’t want to sacrifice, but what to reap the benefits of the spoils of prosperity?

If you are not willing to pay a fair price for petroleum products then it will remain scarce because no one will invest in it.
I always use this example:

If you plant yams for a living, the only benefits your profession will accrue to you is access and availability to yams constantly.
Anytime you take one out of the yam barn to eat you incure a cost that MUST BE RECOVERED if not down the line you will run out of yams.
Nigeria's oil reserves only gives us access and availability. It does not not give us the latitude to consume it at any cost because it requires production at the least.

The fact that we have been consuming it for decades while not paying a fair price to keep production going is the main reason why three decades ago all the refineries collapsed. It is the reason why only Dangote is venturing albeit with so much difficulty.

I usually ask folks.
How do you define water, a social commodity?, an essential commodity?, an industrial commodity?. a commercial commodity.....
Afterall it is God given, it is found almost everywhere on earth but there is no one on earth who will not invest in water one way or the other to have and use it, so it is not free and i will be damned if people go round giving free water anywhere from rural villages to urban mega cities.

Nigerians should wake up to the realities of what makes societies work, develop and prosper and learn to build their country in the knowledge that nothing of value comes cheap or free.
Brilliant, but your kinsmen will not listen, for lack of vision the people perish.
PoliticsRe: NANS Threatens To Shut Down Nigeria Over FG's Planned Subsidy Removal by Rexwalters1: 9:18am On Nov 27, 2021

Those subsidies you speak about in other climes are mainly production subsidies where government supports industries with cash, credit, waivers, patronage, etc.

What you are asking to be sustained in Nigeria is consumption subsidies which is inherently problematic as it directly confronts government revenues, they require instant and constant resource deployment and can only be sustained by cash (scarce foreign exchange) in our case which puts massive pressure on the naira.

That is why most who sit on the fence about this subsidy debacle say, repair the refineries first so that the subsidies go to the refinery operators to 'incentify' them to keep prices low. And because production subsidies are not necessarily cash driven the fear of products driven across the borders will abate.

It should be of concern to every citizen of this country that part of the reason our naira continues to weaken is because we are essentially subsidising a good chunk of the economies of our west african neighbours via cheap gasoline.
Fixing the refineries will not end anything, Nigeria cannot keep paying below market price, then expect government to pay the subsidy, Government has said they have had enough, they can’t continue with this system that has gotten them no where in the last 40 years.

Dangote also gave them a hint, that when his refineries come on stream late 2022, he will charge @ the international priced rate of refined crude.
