Islam is very important in the north. Some groups, {Boko Haram iswap} are tired of western education disrupting their Islamic way of life in the north and they want government to enforce Islamic education against Western education. Not all northerners support their activities but the groups exist and their agitation is well known.
You are not a northerner, you are not a Muslim and you believe strongly in western education, so automatically you believe they should be crushed and any politician saying people should dialogue with them should be condemned.

Now let's replace Islam with Biafra and boko Haram/iswap with ipob and esn.

What makes your own agitation superior?
Who is marginalizing south east? Who is forcing the corrupt secular law of Nigeria on the north instead of sharia Law?
