If someone is gay, that is their business, if someone is straight that is their business. You dont have to personally agree with it, but you have to respect the rights of others.

What is a brown person… apart from someone well tanned? How pale does one need to be, to be white. How dark does one need to be, to be black. Are frogs only bright green? How olive do they need to be before they are called a toad? Are roses only red? If it is pink or white or yellow or purple or orange or blue, what is it?

I’m Australian, and despite what many other cultures think of us, we really don’t have a clear concept of this ‘colour-coding’ that many Americans (and some others) seem to think means something.

There is no such thing as race. It is an outdated 19th century concept that has no basis in science.

The colour of your skin is determined by your ancestors, and how close to the equator they lived. The sexual reproduction of mammals loss a random selection of genes for each fertilised egg. Millenia ago, before the invention of medicine, surgery or sunscreen, if you were born pale and lived near the equator, you’d die of skin cancer before you had the chance to breed. If you were born dark-skinned and Iived close to the poles, you wouldn’t be able to absorb enough vitamin D to survive long enough to breed. That’s all skin pigmentation is. It means nothing other than your body’s natural ability (through generations of natural selection and beauty ethic) to resist ultraviolet radiation or absorb vitamin D. That’s it. Italy, being a warm, but temperate country, for people to survive, would best be equiped with skin that is dark enough to resist developing skin cancer in summer, but light enough to absorb enough vitamin D for the body to function in winter. If that means having brown skin, what of it? That’s perfect for the climate. Mother Nature at work.

Being an Australian of Northern European heritage, in a hot country with pale skin, my family and I are doomed to spend the last few decades of our lives being hacked to pieces by doctors until we have almost no skin left.

Skin pigmentation has nothing to do with intellegence, physical dexterity, sex drive, religious affiliation, the sports teams you follow, the type of car you drive, or the kinds of shows you like to watch on Netflix.

Italian culture is wonderful: rich, elegant and erudite. But that comes from thousands of years of history and learning, not from skin colour, eye colour or the texture of their toenails.
