For how long shall we blame Jonathan and his government? Did we not vote him out and put PMB in Aso Rock because we needed change? It is silly to keep blaming Jonathan.

Pmb listed a thousand ways to change things and make Nigeria better, during elections. He got the job. Why blaming the "ineffectual buffoon" who has been rejected by the electorate? Let Buhari start by implementing one thing first. Then we can move on from there. It is simple.

I respect your decorum and you do have a point. PMB needs to step up. But we can agree that GEJ corruption and lack of saving is killing us today

Quakertellicus1:
Good afternoon Nigeria.

So, we have a problem....though we have been saying that for ages. Some of us even saw we had a problem 5 years ago. Our economy IS based on the price of a barrel of oil....not on the works of our hands. That is where the problem is.

And to make matters worse....we Nigerians cannot set the price of our oil. Even the OPEC cartel cannot set the price of oil any longer. It has been weakened by the increased oil production in non-OPEC member states.

And yes....I would like to blame PDP for spending 16 years in power....and for doing nothing about our oil dependency. GEJ, despite his fans screamings....also did not save oil money (and did not increase refining capacity). And the APC is refusing to be brutally honest with us Nigerians...that we are a poor nation, and we need to cut our coats to size.

What we need to do now is simple

1.End all subsides. Increase school fees, hospital fees, etc. Yes...it would be hard on Nigeria....but when you do not have the money for cake...you do not go ahead to eat cake regardless.

2.Spend money urgently on Power (Add 20000MW by 2020, ) , transport, roads, and education.

3.End all useless government welfare programmes like SURE-P, N5000, etc. No more First Lady projects.

4.End all excess spending in the National Assembly and State Assemblies.

5.Continue the War against corruption. Anyone who says PMB should stop fighting corruption is a traitor to the Nigerian nation and his own tribesmen and women. We do not need such evil and deceitful people among us. We have suffered enough from their thievery since 1960. Corruption ends here. The(Nzeogwu's) ten-per-centers are our enemy. a threat to our very existence as a people...at both the tribaland national level. They must be stopped.

6.Force all states to work towards earning more money. Give states control over their non-oil resources.

7.Cut the bloat in the Civil Service. We have no need for a big civil service in our nation anymore.

8.Stop wasteful spending. If you cannot buy the imported....buy Nigerian. Our biscuit is just as good as Walker's shortcake.

9.A hard line on religious, tribal and ethnic millitants. All thug herdsmen, all Bokoists, all pipeline vandals, and all religious fanatics....all those who commit violence in the name of tribe or religion are our enemy. They must be stopped.

10.Nigeria must no longer be dependent on oil or any resource again. In ten years time,we must be a manufacturer. No buts, no excuses.

Long live the Republic!

I appreciate your wisdom. National Assembly is a total waste of scare funds

He achieved all that you are suffering today. Why are nigerians complaining if PMB improved anything ......rather he reduced. Don't get me wrong GEJ did his best and PMB is doing his best. Let's not digress from the what I said earlier. ?........ let's suspend blaming and accusing ...... let's focus on unity and maximisation of all the strength that's available .

the problem is Bad Economy. The solution is A team of Economist to steer us through this rough weather and PMB.
the question is..... do we have the right guys to do the job? The answer is YES.

Now, ask why the delay?...... and answer tge question yourself undecided undecided undecided undecided undecided

At least you have displayed a modicum of integrity in admitting GEJ's corruption and lack of saving for the rainy day is the primary reason we are all suffering today.

Now solutions like you say - No Easy way out. I think we have to look at other countrys - China hit rock bottom in 1980, India in 1991. What did they do? These are Giant nations with the same complexities and similarities as Nigeria. So they serve as a good template.

Chinese allowed foreign investments and deregulation from around 1980. Nigeria cannot attract enough foreign investment bc Investors are worried about the security environment of their investments. BH hurt our reputation. NDA is not helping Nigeria.

So in my eyes Nigeria must deal with security- then look to attract FDI.
There is no secret formula to growing economy.
Reduce corruption.
Reduce regulation.
Increase security.
Increase investments - in agriculture, infrastructure, etc.
But with NDA and other groups the Naira will have to flow to the Ministry of Defence as opposed to Ministry of works

"Meticulously and tactfully handle Niger Delta?"
I agree PMB has not done enough in ND. One area I agree he mismanaged.
BC he was concentrating on Boko Haram and recovering looted funds.

BUt bombing pipeline will sadly have to be met with force. I hate to admit this but this is what will happen. Tompolo Bombing leaves PMB with no choice now. After all the bombings we will all start from square zero.

You are one of tge problems....... you say what you have no knowledge about. If we may go by what you said. ?...... would PMB had made all those promises if he truly understood the situation. ?....... I guess not

PMB took over at what oil price...... and what is it today? Atleast say the truth to yourself. ?....Yes oil price was up to $120 but dropped move than 60% to thereabout $40 when GEJ handed over. My question is...... who experienced the oil price fall more......GEJ or PMB.

please don't say GEJ didn't save when Amaechi and the Nigerian Courts forced the FG to share the excess crude savings.....

Another question is......... where is PMB picking the blame.......indeed his silence or demonstrated ignorance to earlier pronounced promises is working for him.

So what did your Hero GEJ do with years of oil price at $120? You keep dodging this question

A man or nation who does not know where his problem is, will never come out of it. Someone ran the economy despite all the negatives and Nigeria became the biggest and fastest growing economy in Africa and this doesn't mean a thing to us..... undecided angry angry is absolute foolishness.

PMB should have left the economy alone without drastically changing the economic policies and fighting corruption at the same time. A man should not climb a ladder with things on both hands.......His intent was good but let's admit it.....he didn't have the full details nor experience to make such adjustment. But the biggest mistake is when we choose to aportion blame and accusations rather than utilising the available resources to revert these mistakes.

How on earth should we have renowned economists like Pat Utomi, Ngozi O., etc shocked shocked cool shocked cooland instead of utilising these potentials, FG is busy accusing and chasing them away. angry angry sad angry angry

Jonathan that you claim led our economy to become the "largest and the greatest?" Buktus! Jonathan merely had a high Oil price slush cash accruing. He had NO say in oil prices.

Likewise PMB is battling the effects of Low Oil price that he had no hand in. This is NIgeria's opportunity to move away from the curse of oil. Our peoples suffering today lies SQUARELY on Jonathan. He did not SAVE anything for the rainy day. How can he? When Stealing is Not Corruption in his eyes

Fact - Jonathan and his Diezani and his corrupt cartel blew everything and borrowing to pay salaries in Feb and March 2015.

Opinion - Let them blow pipeline dey go - let us see who will suffer more. Bayelsa and Lower Delta will suffer the most. Nigeria has other resources. Plenty Land for example. Not so for Lower Delta

Look at the State of Nigeria - NO oil refineries, No Electricity infrastructure, NO Hospitals, No Schools on and on and what do you think that happened to the hundreds of billions of Dollars that Nigeria earned? Dude guerilla warfare is a different ball game entirely. The Columbian government has been engaging the FARC rebels In guerilla warfare for the past 50 years now (longest serving war in fact) it has taken The US over a decade to cleanse Iraq and Afghanistan off Al Qaeda and Taliban elements and still counting, This group are as strong as ever today, they engaged in guerrilla warfare. Russian army fought a bitter guerrilla war with the chenchya rebel group, President Putin saw that the war was costing the Russian economy billions of dollars to fund and to make matters worst doesn't look like it was ever going to end, Pres. Putin did the smart thing he drew the chenchya closer to a dialogue and made friends with them, smart move, today the two are allies. Guerilla war is the most difficult to execute for any military it isn't conventional, it is very unconventional and uncomfortable for an average soldier. My dad served in Sierra Leone for the NA as a peace keeper he tell of this: in Sierra Leone 10yo outsmart trained soldiers because the war was guerrilla in nature etc etc. So do not underestimate the militants, should they go guerilla be ready for a long long tiring arm confrontation in Nigeria that could lead to something deadlier, whichever way you look at it, any showdown with the militants would ultimately cost Nigeria billions of dollars to fund in addition Oil exploration and production will reduced quite drastically.

Vladimir Putin DID NOT "dialogue" with Chechen militants. He decimated them with Long Range weaponry. You are day dreaming here. These guys destroying their own swamp how does that really affect say Niger State?

Others look for ways and energy to develop land and you encouraging and advocating destruction and war? Look at Syria. The ND will be worse off after all said and done - death and pollution and cannot attract investments
