The new PSG signing's father reportedly stood to earn €26m as part of his son's contract at Camp Nou but the club have said it will not be paid
Barcelona have made it clear they will not pay a €26 million loyalty bonus to Neymar and his father following the Brazil star's world-record move to Paris Saint-Germain on Thursday.
It was reported that Neymar's father and agent held up the €222m deal in order to trigger a loyalty payment that would be owed after July 31, as part of the new contract the player signed with Barca last October.
However, Barca spokesperson Josep Vives says Neymar's talks with PSG meant he was in breach of the terms of that agreement and that the fee, reportedly totalling €26m, would not be paid.
"The cheque is no longer with the notary, it's at the club," Vives said at a news conference.
"There were three conditions: one, that the player does not negotiate with another club in the last three months before July 31.
"Two, that he will express publicly his commitment to fulfil his contract.
"Three, the collection was to be made on September 1, to ensure that he did not go to another club.
"Given these breaches, the club is not going to liquidate the cheque for his renewal."
Barca had stated on Wednesday that the fee would initially "remain deposited with a notary until the case is resolved".

Neymar is set to cost Paris Saint-Germain near £450 million according to a report from Sky Sports .

The cost is the total between meeting Neymar's release clause, bonuses and his wages, which are reported to be £515,000 per week after tax.

Paris Saint-Germain has received the complete backing of Ligue 1 organisers LFP over their efforts to sign Barcelona forward Neymar.
On Thursday morning, La Liga attempted to derail the transfer by refusing to accept the €222 million payment for Neymar.
"The LFP is surprised and does not understand the refusal of La Liga to simply accept the payment of the release clause of the player Neymar," it said in a statement on Thursday afternoon.
"The LFP asks La Liga to abide by the FIFA rules and its responsibilities. The LFP supports Paris Saint-Germain and wishes for Neymar to join Ligue 1.
"The legal services of the LFP are in support and at the disposal of Paris Saint-Germain so that the Neymar contract is approved as soon as possible."

Neymar’s popularity makes him more deserving of big money than the likes of pop star Beyonce, says ex-Lazio goalkeeper Fernando Orsi.
The Brazilian currently finds himself at the centre of a transfer saga which could be about to make him the most expensive footballer of all time.

The 25-year-old was expected to complete his move on Friday and push to play a part in PSG's Ligue 1 opener on Saturday against Amiens.

"We can confirm Neymar legal representatives went to LaLiga to pay buyout clause and it has been rejected," La Liga said in a statement. "That's all the information we are going to give for the moment."
