The odds are against APC
Firstly, Edo Central has always voted PDP and they will vote PDP again. Another thing is that according to the rotational method in Edo, the next Governor is coming from Edo Central in 2024, but if they vote APC, Pastor will want two terms, that's to say they will not see Governor till another 8 years. Remember the last time they produced governor, it was short leaved by Oshiomhole's court victory.

Edo South will be the decider and Obaseki will take the lion share with the power of incumbency, plus the fact that the people of Edo South are tired of Oshiomhole and Tony Kabaka.

Edo north will also greatly be divided 50/50, because Obaseki's Deputy is another ruthless grassroot politician. The immediate past Speaker of the State House of Assembly from Edo North too, will help share the spoils.

Not to forget to mention the fact that, Oshiomhole was suspended in his ward in Edo north where he has greatly lost popularity .
The chance APC stand in this election is rigging, which Obaseki should be working towards neutralising with his power of incumbency and arrange his own rigging mechanism cos las las nothing should be taken for granted.

the case is different because yes Adams was at lest 70% popular in Edo State and the people were vigorously reminded of Ize Iyamu’s role in the failed Lucky Igbinedion administration so all that worked for good to make whether Adams did to make Obaseki governor - but that is not the case today

the same Ize Iyamu he called a thief and exposed is the one he is now presenting to the people is the height of insult to the intelligence of the average Edo person and an indictment of the collective ability and will of the people rationalize who they want as Governor

Oshomole may have been able to pull this through easily if

1. He chose any other person maybe Agbonayinma or Arhiabvere or Odubu or Osaro Obazee or anyone else but Ize Iyamu, maybe a lot of Edo people would listen a bit

2. If he was not too critical of Obaseki but played like he was neutral - then worked hard to ensure Obaseki was defeated at the primaries - it would have been a “fait accompli” for Oshomole and his gang

the day Oshomole lost the battle and Ize Iyamu was rejected was the day Obaseki got disqualified -That was the day even Oshomole made Obaseki a hero and someone worth dying for (whether he merited it or not)

Go to the streets of Benin City (Edo South) - run a random sample of at least 50 people who are eligible to vote from like 10 random streets. Do this same process in Ekpoma (edo central) and Auchi (edo north) and you will be exposed to the hard shocking truth of Obaseki”s water tight support among the Edo people

To most edo people, Oshomole is now the problem of Edo state and no one remembers anything good he did in his 8 years as governor and the people are waiting for him and Ize Iyamu at the polls to thank him and retire him from tormenting their lives with god fatherism on September 19.
