I used to believe this before until June 12 happened and the popular word among the Igbo was " Oso Abiola" and our city was abandoned, punished by a crushing FG, everywhere in Lagos left to decay while Yoruba leaders were being assassinated in Lagos, Ibadan and Abeokuta. Bomb blast became a regular thing and wars between OPC and Hausa turned some parts of our city to Afghanistan and you see non Yoruba, especially our Igbo brothers and sisters, trooping out of Lagos, saying if they should die they will prefer to go die in their own Land. We didn't have anywhere else to go and bore the travails. Ask your elders why and how then it was convenient for them to suddenly remember that Lagos is Yorubaland and not Federal capital but now that our city is back, you now want to change the narrative? Smh


We were daily encouraged by activists who use Ewi to encourage us, Radio Kudirat was there and our universities were defiant too. We were abandoned but God never left us . We fought till democracy was restored and God blessed us with Asiwaju Tinubu. We rebuilt our city, with other few patriotic Nigerians and foreigners like late Walter Carrington, who stood by us good enough to attract others today.

Lagos today's our prize for standing alone and never giving up. We learnt that we cannot depend on a Federal Government system again so we started building our own teaching hospitals, bridges, ports, airports etc.

Never again will we allow anyone deceive us that Lagos is a Federal Government responsibility, it is not, it is our responsibility as the owners of the land because if it gets bad, like during June 12, people like you will run away but we will have nowhere to run to!

We will continue to build our city on the visions of our forebears who built it even before Nigeria was formed. It is their legacy we have Lagos today,

Our city of Lagos is not the Legacy of Nigeria. Lagos was already a city before Nigeria's Independence. The struggle for independence started from Lagos and not from the rest of Nigeria. If you're relocating to Lagos, respect your Yoruba host and respect our ancestors who built a city to help liberate Nigeria before Nigeria was even born. Lagos belongs to us and we are very welcoming to everyone including you to join us. The blessings can go round and we are not stingy or hostile to non natives.
