Not always true. Igbos in position will hardly help you to get to their positions. They will tell you to compete with others because you have hands and legs. Yorubas help each other a lot more than igbos that i have seen countless times. When I was doing my NYSC things was so hard under Obasanjo then, me and my friend from Ogun went to meet our Senators and reps for assistance. I went to my state representatives waited almost a whole day in the lobby…each one I meet and speak igbo to they respond in English and basically left me empty handed with promises, but my friend did same prostrated “ekale sir” and started chatting in Yoruba with his people. They all gave him a lot of money. Peter Obi for example apart from his money donations to several causes he believes in you can’t point out to any individual he helped get to top from his hometown and to whole of igboland, even his own daughter is a teacher in a high profile school in abuja. Igbos follow him still, not to help anybody but to create a better Nigeria so that everybody can compete and succeed. Wealthy Igbo people can share food stuffs or donate to education for people in dire need but most igbo people in top positions will not give you an easy ride to the top . They make it hard for you unless you are affiliated to them one way or the other, that’s why in the past a lot of people have wondered why igbos leave theirs and support others.Another example is the apprenticeship system in igbo land where you will forgo secondary school and spend five years of your life serving a master and then at the end of the day they settle you with 200k or at most 1m so to got to his level you will have to work very hard for at least five years, so tribalism is alien to an igbo person thought process
