Holy Smoke, I am going to say this from Experience, I am not a doctor though, and neither is this a medical advice. I think that is Edema, Minimal change disease. That’s when the Kidney is pushing out protein that should be helping the body. It usually comes through pee… Abeg, you guys should go and see a doctor fast before it gets worse…. My 8 years old son has been going through this since 2017. Thank god we live in Canada and there is better healthcare here. Trust me, like someone said, you guys should start saving up….that’s most def a kidney or heart issue.
Did you say Good Road? Well Yea, Maybe when you go to Milton and the likes... most roads in the Toronto Region and Markham are under repair. But yea, as long as the keep doing the repairs day in day out
I don’t want to Assume you are New in Canada, yes it is Diversify, but I bet you haven’t been working at a job where they discriminate and or systematically use racial shit at you, Expecially the Filipinos and Indians... I just resigned from my job a few days back as I can’t take anymore of that rubbish, my supervisor wouldn’t dare cross my path as I give them the shit back as soon as they bring it..... the rest of what you said might. E true, but it isn’t all that beautiful. You still have to work your ass off and pay your bills for everything except for the Air that you breathe..... I wish naija was better jare but what can a man do
I will be 30 years in a few months and I have never felt so much unease as I do right now. I work with one of the federal parastatals and I am currently on level 10 going to 12 next year. I have a Master degree athough it is not exactly relevant to my current job.
The problem is that my organisation uses the Ministry salary structure and my monthly net is below 80k even as a level 10 staff.
I am not married and I am academically inclined. Asides having a Master degree, I have over 8 professional certifications.
I have been trying to clinch a transfer of service to a better parastatal where the remuneration is better and where my knowledge/experiences as a science graduate will be better appreciated but it has been a bit difficult.
However, just before the COVID-19 episode in Nigeria, I got the right link for a transfer of service to a better parastatal but the process got stalled with the COVID-19 palaver.
I have 4 siblings who are Canadian citizens and they have been on my neck to migrate. I never took the calls seriously until this lockdown period. My siblings are arguing about the uncertainty of the Nigerian economy post-covid and advising me to seize this opportunity to migrate and start a new career over there?
My question therefore, "is it wise to stay back since I have gone quite far in my public service career and just wait for the opportunity to transfer my service to a better paying federal parastatal OR do I migrate to Canada and start a new career?
Your honest inputs will be highly appreciated. Thanks!
@CrazyMan @1forall Please I need your help in pushing this forward for a wider view. Thank you.
Bro, I Reside in Canada and Let’s be Frank Here, I think you should move to Canada, it will be Rough from the Start but you having 4 brothers here is a Plus for you. Secondly Here in Canada, Your Certificates or Master Degree won’t matter, You will have to start again from another Point, you can get some Certificates here to Get something close to what you Learn. Skilled Training is Everywhere and Skilled work is Everywhere. We Nigerians pay too much attention to Bsc and MBA Lol, but here,Skill works pay more too, so if you can Learn a skill before heading out here. Like I said, Canada is Good but it will be Rough for a year , 2 or 3, but you can get through it, it’s even better that you are not married nor have kid(s) yet, so I think you should move, don’t Expect too much but be Hopefully and prepare to work your Socks off. Thirdly, Hug Every Family and Friends that you have in Nigeria, Shak Beer and Eat the real Pepper Soup o my Brother, because when you get here you will be Bored and miss your friends back home. You will make new friends here though but Boredom go still wipe you Lol and be Ready for Winter. But Really Move
Lol, don’t blame him o,I know say boredom go don finish ppl for house. The Covid thing just messed up Summer.Have a Wonderful Night Rest my Brother. The Gods are Solomon
salford1: True. I am suprised he was showing off foodbank supplies. It is not government donation, and was the video to spite Nigerians that don't have access to foodbank? Baba should just take his food inside and be grateful to God because the foodbank do run low at times on food sef.
salford1: Some walmarts parka actually hold up in -24 weather and below, and you could also buy a fancy jacket from a high street retailer and it won't retain heat. But of course, if one can luck out on a parka for cheap at say value-village, then it's a better cost saving option than buying a brand-new Chinese manufactured brand new Canada Goose or Canadian tire Outfitters.
Yea, the thing about the Value Village Stock is some ppl already bitterly used most of the Jackets Lol, except one is Ready to Pay out hundreds of $$ then you can get a new one and at times with low Quality or that can’t hold the weather at those expensive stores, too many Chinese stuff out there
salford1: Okay. Thanks for clarifying. I must have misunderstood your post.
No Worries Bro. I guess the initial post about the dude with the stuff at his Door claiming from the Govt isn’t smooth, maybe he is Trying to throw it at Nigerians Face, but I am yet to witness where the Govt will drop food off at your door step when the country isn’t in total lockdown like Italy. I mean, ppl still go to the stores to get groceries. With that said, The wannabe rich dude who vowed to feed someone’s family for a whole year should know better if at all he knows anything. I only wonder what he has done for ppl in his neighborhood let alone condemning others, maybe I understood it wrongly too
salford1: I don't know food bank stock cloths. It must be different in your province then. However, are you talking about cloth bank or food banks? This original post was about food and not cloth. That is where I am driving at. I careless about clothes. People need food to survive than some fancy jacket though.
Well, Tell me about the Jacket being Fancy when the -24 hits you in the Winter. And Like I said, Some food banks around GTA do have Clothes too. I know the Difference btw the Food banks and the Clothes Bank. I don’t eat all those type of Food either, Lots of African Markets around so
And I made Mention of the Clothings in General ni,not sticking to whether the topic was about food or clothing in Response to the dude that Stated the Debate or Argument de ni
salford1: What other things are there at the foodbank? The ones in Alberta and Saskatchewan only stock food for the less privileged or those that lost jobs with no money saved for food and are in a transition phase.
So you go to the foodbank because you get a bargain? That is not why the foodbank was set up nah. Your post kind of suggest that "I can afford Loblaws no-name or Walmart's great value, but I would go to the foodbank anyway because I can get a brand-name product which costs more at the grocery store". I hope this is not the case Sha.
If it is, then it is quite discouraging to people that donate tbh.
Ripakurshon: Get a Bargain? Do you know the Food banks do Have some New Clothes that are Authentic unlike going to the stores where you find All Chinese made in stuff in there ( except you go to Hudson Bay Maybe). My Wife would go there to Get some winter Coat that is so New and would Cost Hundreds of $$ at the store. She doesn’t even have to pay for it, so how is that Bargaining?
And I am talking about the Food Banks in The GTA, they have lots more than just food
salford1: What other things are there at the foodbank? gentlemate00: Bro nothing permanent in life only death however someone visit food bank is not the end of the world..Most people comment here some were privileged everything was giving to them so its okay to look down on 15pound but shit happen. Its survival forget proud shit.
For those Who goes to the Food Banks it is Not a Curse Bro, those who use the food banks will be thankful they have the place to go to,Though you have to be careful picking Expired Stuff, but most of those things are Donated by the Likes of Walmart, No Frills and etc, those are the things Ordinary ppl would go to the store to get when it is on Sales.
salford1: Bro. Going to a foodbank or requesting food from a foodbank when you can afford the food is fraudulent, unfair and unCanadian. You would rarely see Canadians do this except maybe immigrants have started bastardizing this gesture of goodwill. I have heard some food banks have now started requesting for referrals. Acts like this would also discourage donations and deprive the people that really need the food banks of food.
How do you mean Fraudulent? I go there for things I would Usually can’t afford until I get Paid and it isn’t just food that is at the Food Bank right. I donate to the Food Bank and Clothing Banks too so how is it Uncanadian going there for things that would at times cost a lot at the Store?
Tihmmyg50: 10kg of rice and 2 tomato paste was given to my community(about 100 houses ) from the local government of Nigeria. Each house got 2cups of rice and a 1/2 teaspoon tomato paste. Our government has failed us.
Believe me when I say that The Nigeria Govt has Failed its Citizens. They make a Fool of them. How in the Blue world is an Household suppose to manage 3 cups of rice and beans and a 50naira bread for 14 days. It breaks my Heart
Mizwisdom: Then why go to food bank? I know that's where poor people go to.
Hahaha, not everyone that Goes to the Food Bank Poor. Na Common Sense. Some ppl go there for stuff that you can save your $$ for. Few times you find Some really good and expensive stuff at the food banks that will cost you some $$.
donmaxman: This refugees should stop making ridiculous claim. Even the 2000 dollars wey Canadian government wan give , conditions full am time. People should stop raising false flags and misinforming people.
Haha. Condition full am o. Eventually them go Tax the Money when it is Tax Year, whoever gets that money and doesn’t have enough hours will definitely owe the govt some money. I prefer to work my work and earn my pay without having to think about owing shit, EI Sef isn’t enough at the end of the month
Exclusive101: Are you eternally foolish ? Is the bastard in the video not claiming this is palliative cos of Covid 19 ?
Was his father suffering from Covid 19 before now ? Why ask me a foolish question instead of asking the liar ? I insist food bank, world bank or the canadian govt will not give a single individual what he posited in that video except he went to loot.
Canada citizen are not even claiming they were provided with such, the same with the fool that claimed Indonesian gave him a 50 KG of rice a Nigerian while real Indonesians were protesting out on the road with their govt ordering them to be shot should they contraven the quarantine.
Should your brain not suppose to be finding why this fools are posting lies n query to what end is their motives ?
Guy, say Wetin you know, Food banks are free here and yes the food banks can give him that amount of shit that you are seeing at his door step if not more, he can go to 2 or 3 food banks at once to get those stuff, provided he has the time for it. Secondly, the $2000 per month for 4 months for the unemployed is not a joke, though it is for those who had to leave or lose their work because of the Covid-19 and couldn’t get a day care for their kids and who are not Qualified for EI. EI ( Employment Insurance ) will pay for those who worked some certain amount of hours. All Thanks to Taxes and shit. I hope one Day Nigeria will Get there, that is if everyone do their part
Guestlander: It is not a lie. You can indeed go to any food bank and get some food free of charge. Perhaps they now do home deliveries due to the lockdown but the food bank is absolutely real.
Don’t mind Him, I live in Scarborough. That’s in the GTA, Lots of Food Banks, Clothes Banks, Value Village and so on. Citizens ( Anyone Living in Canada’s )who can Afford to Donate whatever he or she can are free to do so, I donate Clothings and whatever that is Extra In my House. Students are not Entitle to some Little stuffs especially if they are Foreign Students, say what you know. Food Banks is Free and Trust me,when I need some new or fairly used Gym Equipments or Some Chicken I go there Lol. I work Monday to Sunday and I can afford my Shits ( before anyone start talking shit haha) but they have some good and new stuff at the Places too so why waste money
[quote author=Validated post=88123532]Dont mind them, so many Nigerians go the the food banks, even when there was no COVID19. Some even see poverty as a thing to be proud of. Pls I am not against visiting food banks if you really need it, but some see it as an opportunity to exploit the system as they do in Nigeria even when they can afford it. What they fail to realise that these activities are on their consumer records and some organizations dig up this during background checks to compare with their resume and profiles they put forwsrd.[/quote
You are so Correct. When Covid-19 no Dey Ppl go to the Food Banks here and I think that must be from the Food Bank, he Must be trying to make Nigeria Look shitty. And Nothing about Food Bank is Being Dug Up on Any Background Shit bro.....
planetx: You left Nigeria to go and become a mechanic in Canada.
Isn’t it better than Going Crazy in Nigeria? I work my ass off, pay my bills and live my Life. So?. And Check it, a Mechanic here make $40 an hour or more and that is 11,200 naira an Hour. Una govt still Dey think about paying 30k a month
graceajunwa: I was told it’s W1, visa two years work permit, category W1. He said he is going to get LMIA for us since he owns a company over there already without the IELTS certificate can one get a job
I think it is a Scam, if a Company will be Gettingbyou LMIA then it better be a big company and one that can’t find the employee for the said job in Canada, visiting visa don’t come with work permit, except it is the Express Entry thing. If you come on a visiting Visa then I don’t know how you can be granted a work permit as work permit is only given to those who has Status in Canada aside being a Visitor
justwise: Madam google LMIA first to learn what that means, its a document that allows an employer to hire foreign worker, it will basically show that no Canadian can do that job, he is promising you unskilled job which many Canadian can do and it seems you are falling for this
You are Right, but Trust me, it must be a Highly skilled job as Canada needs skilled workers, a lot get skilled while inside Canada and not from Outside of Canada and it depends what type of Work it is
graceajunwa: He actually has a company over there n intends getting LMIA for us. I asked d type of visa he said it’s W1 visa what do u think about this. Is it possible that with LMIA u won’t be needing IELTS certificate
I think with the LMIA the employer will need to show that the company can’t find anyone suitable for the Job in Canada. I don’t think IELTS is required if it is an Employer that is bringing you to Canada. But be sure You get it right before Heading North. You guys haven’t gotten the Visa yet right?
Nsarug80: Madam, you're about embarking on a self destruct mission to Canada if you leave your job. A Grade Level 10 civil servant has a better prospect to succeed than someone living in Canada. Forget about your meagre salary & focus on where you'll be on the job in a few years. My Dad has been to over 100 countries of the world as a civil servant in my state & would be retiring this year. Those advising you to travel to Canada to pick up an unskilled job really do not mean well for you or they do not have the kind of job you have. You can travel to any part of the world with your current job. It's just a matter of time.
Trust me Bro, I live in Canada, Canada is about Certification and licensing. They are Trade school everywhere, If her employer is bringing her over, then she is just a few years from getting PR, if she wanna go to school she sure can, depends on how old her kids are. Canada is one of the Best place you can Migrate to, best Health care and Education. I have Bsc in Business Administration bro, but I am Training in Automobile now, it is what we call Mechanic in Nigeria and that sure pu more per hour than some office Job
graceajunwa: We are not going as visitors I may Ned to ask d agent d type of visa he is getting for us. Once our visa is ready we were asked to pay certain amount of money that will cover our rent for one year. Note this money will only be paid once we hv our visa, also d plan includes getting a job for us in other words d job will b made available for us. Initially we were told we couldn’t go with d kids until after six months we send for them . But when I them they were jus below 5 he said it’s ok for them to come along cos it would hv Ben more difficult if Dey were above 10 years.
Lest I forget, I will suggest you be careful with Agent o, Like someone in this Thread rightly said about you having a plan before making the trip, outside of Nigeria, Nigerians aren’t friendly to each other and don’t ever put your mind to ppl’s promises about anything, they will most definitely stand you up and or make you go thru hell, be sure you have someone here who is ready to put you thru surviving here, I know some employers look for foreign workers but don’t let anyone scan you saying they have bla bla bla here. Be sure you do your findings right about the visa, accommodation and job as the said agent promised you. I can confirm it to you, Nigerians can mess with you in a Foreign Land
graceajunwa: Hi am in a bit of dilemma my husband and I are both civil servants am also a lawyer and our take home put together is about 260k per month. We have two kids of ages three and four we have a good opportunity to travel to Canada with a job offer but under unskilled worker.
Am thinking of a better life for my kids but a bit confused cos of d fear of d unknown. Will it be wise to leave our jobs considering Canada has a good education system secondly we also intend schooling when we get there so we can get better work places pls what ur advice on this we are really in a fix what ur opinion for those that have been there
I have been a Guest on Nairaland for years and I some minutes ago opened a profile on here so I can write you this message. I Reside in Scarborough ON in Canada and I have been in this country for awhile now. Trust me Miss, I believe you should know better. Regardless of what you have and do not have Educationally, if you can work then you will be most definitely Ok in Canada. Canada or any other Country is not a place where u go and don’t work, besides, there is nothing to do than to work. It can be boring, especially during winter when there isn’t a lot of owambes lol, but in the summer there are lots to do. For your Kids, it would be the best Gift you can give them, Canada don’t joke with Education, it is free till they get to college. Loads of Opportunities awaits yours kids and if you train them rightly then be rest assured that their future is secured. My advise, You all should go to Canada
