Holy Smoke, I am going to say this from Experience, I am not a doctor though, and neither is this a medical advice. I think that is Edema, Minimal change disease. That’s when the Kidney is pushing out protein that should be helping the body. It usually comes through pee… Abeg, you guys should go and see a doctor fast before it gets worse…. My 8 years old son has been going through this since 2017. Thank god we live in Canada and there is better healthcare here. Hello Nairalanders,

I will be 30 years in a few months and I have never felt so much unease as I do right now. I work with one of the federal parastatals and I am currently on level 10 going to 12 next year. I have a Master degree athough it is not exactly relevant to my current job.

The problem is that my organisation uses the Ministry salary structure and my monthly net is below 80k even as a level 10 staff.

I am not married and I am academically inclined. Asides having a Master degree, I have over 8 professional certifications.

I have been trying to clinch a transfer of service to a better parastatal where the remuneration is better and where my knowledge/experiences as a science graduate will be better appreciated but it has been a bit difficult.

However, just before the COVID-19 episode in Nigeria, I got the right link for a transfer of service to a better parastatal but the process got stalled with the COVID-19 palaver.

I have 4 siblings who are Canadian citizens and they have been on my neck to migrate. I never took the calls seriously until this lockdown period. My siblings are arguing about the uncertainty of the Nigerian economy post-covid and advising me to seize this opportunity to migrate and start a new career over there?

My question therefore, "is it wise to stay back since I have gone quite far in my public service career and just wait for the opportunity to transfer my service to a better paying federal parastatal OR do I migrate to Canada and start a new career?

Your honest inputs will be highly appreciated. Thanks!

Bro, I Reside in Canada and Let’s be Frank Here, I think you should move to Canada, it will be Rough from the Start but you having 4 brothers here is a Plus for you. Secondly Here in Canada, Your Certificates or Master Degree won’t matter, You will have to start again from another Point, you can get some Certificates here to Get something close to what you Learn. Skilled Training is Everywhere and Skilled work is Everywhere. We Nigerians pay too much attention to Bsc and MBA Lol, but here,Skill works pay more too, so if you can Learn a skill before heading out here. Like I said, Canada is Good but it will be Rough for a year , 2 or 3, but you can get through it, it’s even better that you are not married nor have kid(s) yet, so I think you should move, don’t Expect too much but be Hopefully and prepare to work your Socks off. Thirdly, Hug Every Family and Friends that you have in Nigeria, Shak Beer and Eat the real Pepper Soup o my Brother, because when you get here you will be Bored and miss your friends back home. You will make new friends here though but Boredom go still wipe you Lol and be Ready for Winter. But Really Move

Some walmarts parka actually hold up in -24 weather and below, and you could also buy a fancy jacket from a high street retailer and it won't retain heat. But of course, if one can luck out on a parka for cheap at say value-village, then it's a better cost saving option than buying a brand-new Chinese manufactured brand new Canada Goose or Canadian tire Outfitters.

Yea, the thing about the Value Village Stock is some ppl already bitterly used most of the Jackets Lol, except one is Ready to Pay out hundreds of $$ then you can get a new one and at times with low Quality or that can’t hold the weather at those expensive stores, too many Chinese stuff out there

However, are you talking about cloth bank or food banks? This original post was about food and not cloth. That is where I am driving at. I careless about clothes. People need food to survive than some fancy jacket though.

You would rarely see Canadians do this except maybe immigrants have started bastardizing this gesture of goodwill. I have heard some food banks have now started requesting for referrals.
Acts like this would also discourage donations and deprive the people that really need the food banks of food.

How do you mean Fraudulent? I go there for things I would Usually can’t afford until I get Paid and it isn’t just food that is at the Food Bank right. I donate to the Food Bank and Clothing Banks too so how is it Uncanadian going there for things that would at times cost a lot at the Store?

10kg of rice and 2 tomato paste was given to my community(about 100 houses ) from the local government of Nigeria. Each house got 2cups of rice and a 1/2 teaspoon tomato paste. Our government has failed us.

Guy, say Wetin you know, Food banks are free here and yes the food banks can give him that amount of shit that you are seeing at his door step if not more, he can go to 2 or 3 food banks at once to get those stuff,provided he has the time for it. Secondly, the $2000 per month for 4 months for the unemployed is not a joke, though it is for those who had to leave or lose their work because of the Covid-19 and couldn’t get a day care for their kids and who are not Qualified for EI. EI ( Employment Insurance ) will pay for those who worked some certain amount of hours. All Thanks to Taxes and shit. I hope one Day Nigeria will Get there, that is if everyone do their part

Citizens ( Anyone Living in Canada’s )who can Afford to Donate whatever he or she can are free to do so, I donate Clothings and whatever that is Extra In my House. Students are not Entitle to some Little stuffs especially if they are Foreign Students, say what you know. Food Banks is Free and Trust me,when I need some new or fairly used Gym Equipments or Some Chicken I go there Lol. I think it is a Scam, if a Company will be Gettingbyou LMIA then it better be a big company and one that can’t find the employee for the said job in Canada, visiting visa don’t come with work permit, except it is the Express Entry thing. If you come on a visiting Visa then I don’t know how you can be granted a work permit as work permit is only given to those who has Status in Canada aside being a Visitor

I think with the LMIA the employer will need to show that the company can’t find anyone suitable for the Job in Canada. I don’t think IELTS is required if it is an Employer that is bringing you to Canada. But be sure You get it right before Heading North. You guys haven’t gotten the Visa yet right?

Madam, you're about embarking on a self destruct mission to Canada if you leave your job. A Grade Level 10 civil servant has a better prospect to succeed than someone living in Canada. Forget about your meagre salary & focus on where you'll be on the job in a few years. My Dad has been to over 100 countries of the world as a civil servant in my state & would be retiring this year. Those advising you to travel to Canada to pick up an unskilled job really do not mean well for you or they do not have the kind of job you have. You can travel to any part of the world with your current job. It's just a matter of time.

They are Trade school everywhere, If her employer is bringing her over, then she is just a few years from getting PR, if she wanna go to school she sure can, depends on how old her kids are. Canada is one of the Best place you can Migrate to, best Health care and Education. I have Bsc in Business Administration bro, but I am Training in Automobile now, it is what we call Mechanic in Nigeria and that sure pu more per hour than some office Job

We are not going as visitors I may Ned to ask d agent d type of visa he is getting for us. Once our visa is ready we were asked to pay certain amount of money that will cover our rent for one year. Note this money will only be paid once we hv our visa, also d plan includes getting a job for us in other words d job will b made available for us. I Reside in Scarborough ON in Canada and I have been in this country for awhile now. Trust me Miss, I believe you should know better. Regardless of what you have and do not have Educationally, if you can work then you will be most definitely Ok in Canada. Canada or any other Country is not a place where u go and don’t work, besides, there is nothing to do than to work. It can be boring, especially during winter when there isn’t a lot of owambes lol, but in the summer there are lots to do. For your Kids, it would be the best Gift you can give them, Canada don’t joke with Education, it is free till they get to college. Loads of Opportunities awaits yours kids and if you train them rightly then be rest assured that their future is secured.My advise, You all should go to Canada
