franchasng: Abiola invited Abacha to overthrow Shonekan so that he, Abiola could be made President by Abacha, but Abacha rather killed Abiola his perceived friend.
Muhammadu Buhari, Abacha's close friend and ally didn't advice Abacha against the bad things he was doing to Abiola (today the same Buhari cunningly recognized Abiola as the winner of June 12 election just to spite Obasanjo and to turn Yorubas against each other so they can condemn Obasanjo and hail him despite his evil deeds in the past), instead Buhari continued to dine with Abacha and even went to collect a political appointment from Abacha and helped Abacha government in many ways he could.
...and at the same period, Bola Tinubu had already agreed to serve as Abacha's VP not minding that another Yoruba man Abiola has already won the annulled Presidential election which he was supposed to join hands and ensure his brother reclaims his mandate, no, he was desperate to become VP to the detriment of his Yoruba brother Abiola.
This is how treacherous these people can be to even their own brothers...
Let's go back to 1960s...
...and the power tuzzle between Awolowo and Akintola tore Southwest and later Nigeria to pieces in the 1960s, it led to the first military coup headed by Maj. Nzeogwu in 1966.
Most Yorubas are always desperate to rule Nigeria at all cost, just as Bola Ahmed Tinubu has started today, when we tell future children how desperate Tinubu is today to become Nigeria's President to the extent of romancing with the devil (Buhari), they will think we lied, isokay Well said, and truth will not depart from you |
Politics › Re: We Will Never Allow Ambode To Become A Minister - Lagos APC by Riteness: 8:09am On Jun 15, 2019 |
Enn214: Following reports that President Muhammadu Buhari is considering the former governor of Lagos State, Akinwunmi Ambode as a minister in his second term, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state has vowed not to allow the presidency to reward Ambode’s disloyalty.
Herald Nigeria gathered that the position is being fronted by party men loyal to the National Leader of the ruling party, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the same group that edged our Ambode in favour of Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
Top party chiefs in the Mandate Group accused the ex-governor of frustrating many party members in Lagos State during his tenure and there was, therefore, the need “to teach him a lesson.” Consequently, the aggrieved party men were said to be making moves to petition the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over Ambode’s alleged financial misappropriation and corruption.
One of the party sources, who spoke to The Punch, said, “Ambode tried to destroy the party in his first term. Apart from not being accessible, he revoked contracts belonging to party members and brought in his own companies. He tried to destroy our chances by trying to undermine Sanwo-Olu at every turn.
“He did not campaign for us. Rather, he was following Buhari all over the place. He should not expect to represent Lagos in any capacity. We will not allow him have any appointment.” Another source said, “Ambode is from Ondo State and he cannot deny it. Yes, he was governor in Lagos State but the constitution allows that. However, the constitution states clearly that only an indigene of a state can represent that state as far as ministerial appointments are concerned.
“We will ensure that the three senators from Lagos State block his nomination in the event that he is nominated by the President. There must be party discipline.”
The source said a probe of Ambode’s administration would soon commence where the cases of alleged fraud and abuse of office would be exposed.
However, a former aide to Ambode said, “Ambode is already prepared for the worst since they have already humiliated him. Buhari even appealed to them to let Ambode return as governor but they refused. They then tried to impeach him but they failed.
“They should remember that Ambode was a permanent secretary and accountant-general of the state before becoming a governor.
“He knows the secrets of all those making threats. Anybody who is on a mission of revenge could be digging his own grave in the process. I won’t say more than that.”

Politics › Re: Fashola Blames Past Govts For Failed Roads by Riteness: 5:53pm On Nov 12, 2018 |
Ecstasy154: The Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Mr Babatunde Fashola has blamed past governments for not effectively utilising earned crude oil revenue to develop road and other infrastructures in the country.
The minister said this on Monday in Abuja while presenting a three-year scorecard of his ministry. Fielding questions on the poor road networks, Fashola admitted it saying, “Yes, we know they are bad. There is no magic to it. If those who came before us had done their work, we won’t meet bad road. That is the simple truth. We earned $100 per barrel of crude oil for about five years.
“We knew what other countries like Abu Dhabi (UAE), Saudi Arabia did with their own, what did we do with ours? So this is a President and a government that is now trying to do more with less that it has. So give us some time, we will get there,” Fashola said.
The minister said the federal government is executing road projects across every state especially abandoned projects like the Lagos – Ibadan expressway, the second Niger bridge, Enugu- Port Harcourt road, Jebba-Mokwa way among others that have drastically cut down travel time.
The ministry also gave statistics of road projects in the last three years. It said in 2016, 277 kilometres of road was constructed, 345km was rehabilitated and 17,749 people were employed in the process.
For 2017, the federal government constructed 488 roads, rehabilitated 256 others and engaged 31,227 persons. For 2018 till November, 497 km of road has been constructed, 284 rehabilitated and 30,402 persons employed; the figure could rise during December due to more rehabilitation projects nationwide, officials said.
Expantiating on this, the Permanent Secretary (Works and Housing), Mr Mohammed Bukar said there have been award of 365 roads for construction since 2001. He said the Buhari government awarded 121 of these in three years while the previous government awarded 144 others in the whole of 17 years.
“You will see that out of the 365 roads, 144 were awarded in the period of 17 years while in just three years, we awarded 121 roads, just within three years and we are still counting because the 2018 procurement is on-going,” Bukar noted.
