unbitchable: Who approved what?. can Osibanjo force his opinion on the governors?. NEC is an advisory body to the FG, whatever they say is not binding but Umahi should not be undermining the security of his people. How can a sensible governor prefer community policing over regional or state security outfit. O you are now changing lane. The SW govs and Vice should have simply boycotted the meeting in protest no they sat down and did nothing. Is it the SE Govs that you guys said are nothing in this government that will carry the matter for Head? So that you guys will gang up with the North once more. Guy SE is learning this game seriously |
Politics › Re: Governor Umahi, The Devil From The South East by Rochas2023: 8:24pm On Mar 01, 2020 |
unbitchable: Last month, herdsmen sacked a community in Delta, killing no fewer than 10 people. The community had banned the sale and consumption of beef following the incidence. In the same vein, the government of Delta State led by Gov. Okowa is muting the idea of banning the sale of beef a state law. This last week, there was a viral video of a fulani herdsman threatening to kill a young Igbo farmer who was seen working on his farm. Aside the fact that several villages had been sacked in Enugu and hundreds killed, herdsmen have had a field day in Ebonyi, Ananbra, Imo and neighbouring states. SW, SS, NC, NW, NE have also had their fair share of the herdsmen's menance. Soon after Amotekun was launched, Gov. Umahi came out to say Amotekun was a stolen idea from the Southeast. How could an idea that has no name, no modalities, no structures be stolen?. Last we heard, Southeast governors have accepted community policing, shortly before the adoption, Gov. Umahi told us that the southeast were seeking permission from the President to establish their own security outfit. The adoption of community policing instead of an homogeneous security outfit has thrown Ohaneze and the Governors apart with the former storming out of Southeast summit. The hullabaloo which greeted Malami's statement on Amotekun was summarily doused with Tinubu's intervening and Malami retracting his earlier statement. Since then, processes have been ongoing to legalize the outfit. Arising from NEC meeting, Umahi addresses the press that governors of the federation have jettisoned regional security outfit while Ruga have been approved. Such is the mindset of a mischievous devil. The question for Umahi is, when had NEC become the finality for State's affairs in the country?.
If Umahi knows that the possibility of having a security outfit similarly to Amotekun has slipped off the hands of SE, why is he hell bent on blackmailing Amotekun?. Need i refresh some memory, the SW Governors met with the Vice President in the company of the IG where a nod was given for the take off of Amotekun. So why is Umahi pained that SW are setting the pace where the SE are slumping?.. whose faults?.. Why is he acting as a mischievous devil from the other side?.
If Umahi and his colleagues in the south east leadership are too lazy to go through the rigours of establishing a well structured security outfit, he should blame his culpability as the Chairman of SE Governors rather than wanting Amotekun to fail as they have failed. Whatever his aim and that of his folks wishing that Amotekun fails, it is sad news for them because Amotekun has come to stay. Who made the pronouncement allowing RUGA and jestioning Regional policing? NEC Who heads NEC? Osibanjo Who approved this Osibanjo as the head of NEC Who is Umahi to NEC? A spokesperson just like PRO of firm |

oyatz: Bros, in a country as diversified as Nigeria and with increased political awareness of this age and time, things aren't as simple as you assume.
Anyway, how do you tell non-Igbo Nigerian politicians who nurse presidential ambitions and have invested heavily in the projects to forgo their ambitions and not seek their parties presidential tickets?
I am a realist and I know that Nigerian politicians are self centered people and won't yield to such requests to step down if they aren't Igbos.
I think Igbos should be realistic and rally round their formidable presidential candidates and find a way to defeat other candidates in the Primaries.
It will be far easier if there's no APC and only the PDP is the major political party (more or less one party State). Things will become simple when they look at the bigger picture, this is where patriotism comes into play |

oyatz: But you haven't explained
1) Who can grant this request- who has the power to make an Igbo President?
2) How will this be achieved?
Will there be presidential primaries in each party or the party will just handpicked Igbo candidates? 1. Nigerians Major stake holders in the two major party. There will be primaries but you and I know that is just a formality the real picking are done by major party stakeholders |

gidgiddy: Thats the one thing I never understood about Yorubas. When Igbos supposedly do something wrong, they scream and shout about it so much.
But when Northerners do something that is 50 times worse, Yorubas downplay it as if it is not so bad.
The examples in Nigerian history are abound:
Yorubas refer to the first coup as an 'Igbo coup', but they never say that all other coups that happened in Nigeria were 'Northern coups', not even the one that kicked out Shonekan
Yorubas like to trumpet about Ironsi's decree 34. They even say that decree 34 ended federalism. But in essence, all dcree 34 did was unify the civil service. It did not deIineate the borders of the 4 Regions and neither did it take away from the 4 Regions the essential ingredients of true federalism such as resource control, fiscal responsibility or the revenue sharing formular agreed at independence. But the same Yorubas will never talk about Gowon's decree 14 that abolished all 4 Regions, replaced them with 12 states, 6 of which went to the North that was one Region, removed resource control, ended fiscal federalism and changed the revenue sharing formular to favour the North.
The average Yoruba man will never say that Ojukwu and Gowon met in Aburi Ghana and signed an agreement that would bring peace and that Gowon broke that agreement with decree 14, but he will blame Ojukwu for causing the war even though it was Gowons fault.
Even with this thread that Ojukwu stuck by military tradition that the next highest ranking officer should always take charge in the absence of the most senior officer, they cant admit that Ojukwu stood for their own brother, Brigadier Ogundipe, when they could not.
Even the Vernom the average Yoruba feels towards IPOB who were unarmed and never killed them, they dont feel it for armed herdsmen who murder them every day
They just cant admit that when Ojukwu stood up against Northern domination, even against their own son, Brigadier Ogundipe, when they just couldn't do the same. |

ThemanS: Hello Nairalanders, I will be traveling to the Southern part of the Country for the first time in my life. I was born and raised in the North Central, Plateau state to be precise.
I will be traveling to Aba to buy some goods for a Client, initially I was planning to move to Port-Harcourt, then from there enter Aba and Onitsha after I'm done with shopping I will move back to Port-Harcourt and take a Bus back home.
Now the issue here is I have never travelled to the South, a lot of people here are telling me that there's no security, even lodging is not safe because EFCC might raid the lodge anytime. And the Streets are also not safe.
Pls Nairalanders in port and Aba should recommend a good and safe area for me. I was told keke and bus drivers don't usually speak English na so so language dem dey speak.
Help a brother pls. You are just starting business that's why you are just asking this question. Aba is safer to foreigners than even the indegine, they value business more than anything, once you are there for business no problem for you. There are people from Camerons Ghanains and other West African countries, doing business there. - Have money on your account pay with pos unless you trust the shop. - Get a contact person, so that you won't have to travel, whatever you want can be waybilled to you. - Hotel is relatively cheap. |

must also be noted that a security group that starts with subtle threats to our brethren in faith in another part of the country cannot be safe for Muslims in Yorubaland. There is no racism or tribalism in Islam (Qur’an 49:13). It is a global brotherhood. Yoruba Muslims love Yorubaland.

Nice one from Gandollar. He has proven that one can be corrupt nd still work 4 d gud of the people unlike Buhari that made it seems otherwise. This looks likes Secretariat bridge Jos
But it is totally wrong for a vice president to travel all the way from Abuja to Kano just to commission a flyover. If u check what has been spent just to bring him to Kano it will enough to build at least 5 primary health centres nd equip them.
The bridge needs adequate maintenance to continue looking as beautiful as it is. I hope almajiris, Mai Suya mallams, Meruwas nd beggars won't make it look as dirty as pit toilet in a month time.
I'm even very sure immediately after it commission some Moslem guys will turn it to a praying ground Na because they caught him. If I'm caught that's exactly what I'll do |
