I just think that the other candidates are better,more qualified, more suitable than wyclef at this point,just because he has the prominence,doesn’t mean he has the experience,things as simple as ,i saw him the other day,i didn’t get the real sense of like what was the real plan for haiti. Haiti needs what i call a short term plan and a long term plan ,we got 1.2 million people living in tent city rightnow,what are the plans to get these people out of this tent city and then to regular civilization,he didnt address those issues ,he didn’t adress about what is this long term ,everything he said was basically (It is general plans ,general ideas that he has. i didnt get the sense like this is someone that is gonna take haiti to 21st century .It is a bit easier for me to just say i support wyclef ,but i just dont support his policies .I dont see anything ,for me its not about wyclef ,not about sense of entitlement ,its about the people ,cos at the end of the day,wyclef gonna get on his private jet,fly back to the state , Pras is gonna get on his commercial jet ,fly back to the state ,and we go to our homes ,but the people still got to live in the tent."

Tagged Felabration 2010: A celebration of the life, music and legacy of the late Afrobeat king, Fela, this year’s edition will feature Africa’s top musicians and a selection of the world’s greatest orchestra, rendering popular songs of the music legend.
According to Yeni Kuti, stage dancer and daughter of the late Fela, “this year’s edition of Felabration promises to be the best ever since the project started 10 years ago. It is a fuller package made up of carefully selected foreign and local artistes. Some of the foreign ones will be coming to Nigeria for the first time.”
Yeni revealed that the 2010 edition will host two shows. “For the first time, Felabration will be leaving its traditional abode, New Afrika Shrine, for the Lagos Island. The idea behind the move is to allow Fela’s lovers and enthusiasts living in that axis to enjoy themselves under a convivial atmosphere, close to home, while the second show and grand finale will be at the New Afrika Shrine, where our people can have their own fun,” she explained.
Meanwhile, plans are in top gear to declare a week-long activities to mark the occasion. One of the highlights of the week is having the legend’s songs played on the airwaves across the nation, while favourite music shop and hangouts will have special activities dedicated to the late Afrobeat king.
This year’s event, which promises a series of compelling activities such as music shows, symposia, street carnival and talent show, has been planned to coincide with the nation’s 50th Independence anniversary in October.
Speaking further on this, Yeni said the life and times of Fela “was a struggle to free the masses from the oppression of dictators and bad leadership. Even in death, his music still speaks. If the history of this nation is to be written, Fela’s name will definitely be mentioned as one of those who fought gallantly. So, as we celebrate Nigeria, we also celebrate Fela and his music.”
Felabration 2010 is coming on the heels of the success of the Broadway play, Fela! On Broadway, a new dance musical that tells the story of the Afrobeat legend, which has become a rave in the past few months in the United States of America.
On the last count, the play has won three awards with over 11 nominations.

A new coach will most definitely be named to take charge of the Super Eagles as it is now almost certain that the team’s handler, Lars Lagerback, will not be returning to Nigeria.

The Nigerian agent of the Swedish born coach, Emeka Enechi, disclosed this to NEXT. He revealed that Lagerback is not disposed to returning to Nigeria. Enechi, who brought Lagerback to Nigeria after the NFF made public their decision to employ a foreign coach for the Super Eagles, said the Swede didn’t feel the working environment was conducive for him. “There were so many things happening, especially within the federation and he wasn’t comfortable with it,” said the UK based Enechi, who is currently holidaying in Nigeria. “He was ready to work and make the Super Eagles a formidable side but there were a few individuals who were out to make life difficult for him. (Former NFF president, Sani) Lulu was giving him all the support he needed but there were others who didn’t feel comfortable with him around and they did all they could to make what was already a difficult job even more difficult,” said Enechi, who then added that the only way Lagerback would have succeeded in Nigeria was if he had unrestricted access to Aso Rock. “That’s the only way,” he declared. “Any coach who wants to succeed in Nigeria must have access to the president regardless of whether he is a Nigerian or a foreigner because there will always be someone in the background waiting to make life difficult for the coach.”

Ten foreign stars for Korea friendly

Currently in charge of the Super Eagles is Augustine Eguavoen who has the task of preparing the side for the upcoming friendly against South Korea. The game takes place on August 11 in Seoul and it is likely, as the game approaches, that the former Super Eagles captain will be prosecuting the friendly without the full complement of the country’s top players no thanks to injuries and club commitments which has now forced the Super Eagles caretaker coach to settle for only 10 overseas based players. Ikechukwu Uche has been knocked out by an injury that looks set to keep him out of action for half of the season, while the likes of Haruna Lukman, Obinna Nsofor, and John Obi Mikel have cited club commitments as their reason for pulling out of the tie. A rep for Michael Jackson Estate has exclusively revealed that a new album featuring 10 never heard before songs will be out in November this year. These tracks may be from his recording sessions in the 80s or the newer material that he was working on with Akon, Will.i.am and Ne-Yo just before his shocking death. According to a statement made available by his publicist, MME (Media & Marketing Experts), Okposo’s lawyer in Nigeria, Valentine Emeka Utulu of Johnson Brant, has petitioned the First Minister of Scotland (Minister of Justice), over the unlawful arrest of the one-time KORA Award’s African Gospel Artiste of The Year.Apart from the Scotland’s Minister of Justice, some other influential individuals the lawyer copied were the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the Queen of England, the Prime Minister of Great Britain, Secretary General of the United Nations and the Nigerian Ambassador to the United Kingdom. Others are Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Solicitor to the Advocate General of Scotland and the Chairman, Federal House of Representatives Committee on Nigerians in the Diaspora.
In the 19-page petition, Utulu accused the Grampian Police of gross corruption, callous harassment and perversion of justice.
According to him, “the internet is awash with cesspool of corruption in the Grampian Police and the cases of Holie Grieg and David Emslie are, but to name a few. Only recently, two serving officers of the same command were convicted for perversion of justice. It is unfortunate that the police force employed with the tax payers’ money to maintain peace, law and order, should then turn around to harass the very citizens it was employed to protect with spurious charges, arbitrary procedures, callous harassment and dispossession of private property.”
Corroborating his facts further, the lawyer noted that there is another pending racist case by Mr. Ronny Shui Hung Yung, the restaurant’s manager, filed by the same police force, where he accused another customer of making racist statements against him
