smile4kenn: I feel so honored to be the first comment. All of my hard work and dedication has paid off. Getting the top comment has been a dream of mine for many years, and I would like to thank those who have helped me along the way. First and foremost I would like to thank God for giving me this opportunity. Next, I would like to thank my girlfriend. She had been patience with me while I attempt to make the top comment. I would also like to thank my pet tadpole for surviving against all odds for over a week. Next I would like to thank the squirrel that lives in my backyard for climbing trees because that gives me inspiration that I need to get through the day to make the top comment. This is a special moment in my life and I would like to thank any of my unmentioned friends and family that have helped me along the way. This moment will be a moment that I will never forget. I just remembered a few other people I will like to thank; Facebook, my light in my room bc i wouldn’t be able to see the keyboard without it, the internet for letting me go on nairaland, my house because without it I would be homeless, and last but not least I would like to thank all the people out there that actually took time out of their day to read this. I cannot stress how much of a big deal to me this is. I have been trying to be the first comment on a post for years, but that has not been possible until this amazing day. Hopefully my good luck will continue, but this is undoubtedly a rare occasion. If you asked me how I did this, I would say, you can achieve anything u set your mind on. To all the nairalanders out there reading this, I would like to tell them to follow their dreams. Being the first comment is amazing, thank you everyone.
Dude, this has made me laugh so much i'm tearing already. It doesn't matter to me if its original or 'made in China' bottom line is that you have brought laughter to the land. The good thing many here should also know is that laughter is healthy that's why it is written 'a merry heart doeth good like medicine...' God bless you bro.
FamilyRe: Why Men Don't Help-Out With Domestic Chores by ROCKSTAND1:
My wife sent me this piece and I thought it was very apt for this topic moreso, I began to see clearly...

Mum and Dad were watching TV when mum said, "I'm tired, and it's getting late. I think I'll go to bed."
She went to the kitchen to make sandwiches for the next day's lunches, took meat out of the freezer for supper for the following evening, checked the cereal box levels, filled the sugar container and started the coffee pot for brewing the next morning. She then put some wet clothes in the dryer, put a load of clothes into the washer, ironed a shirt and secured a loose button. She picked up the game pieces left on the table, emptied a wastebasket and hung up a towel to dry. She yawned and stretched and headed for the bedroom. She stopped by the desk and wrote a note to the teacher, counted out some cash for the excursion and pulled a text book out from hiding under the chair.
Mum then washed her face with 3 in 1 cleanser, put on her Night Solution & age fighting moisturizer, brushed and flossed her teeth and filed her nails. Dad called out, "I thought you were going to bed." "I'm on my way," she said, then made sure the doors were locked and the patio light was on.. She looked in on each of the kids and turned out their bedside lamps and radios, hung up a shirt, threw some dirty socks into the hamper, and had a brief conversation with the one up still doing homework. In her own room, she set the alarm; laid out clothing for the next day, straightened up the shoe rack. She added three things to her 6 most important things to do list. She said her prayers, and visualized the accomplishment of her goals. about that time, Dad turned off the TV and announced to no one in particular. "I'm going to bed." And he did...without another thought.
Anything extraordinary here? Wonder why women live longer...?
'CAUSE THEY ARE MADE FOR THE LONG HAUL.........
(and they can't die sooner, they still have things to do!!!!)

It seems this steady house chore thing is not a bad idea after all o. All men who don't help their wives with house chores should repent now ...if you want to live long! In fact repeat after me: for madam, I will wash plates, mop floor, dust furniture even breastfeed sef... grin

fellis: LWKMD. Stop making up stories abeg.
Besides the thread is talking about men and housechores, not women that dominate men.
A man can still be the head of the house even if he assists his wife with house work.
Honestly, i didn't make up that story, in fact if you hear the whole thing you will switch sides on this topic one time. The domineering woman starts gradually from delegating chores to hubby to ordering him around the house and before you know it na 'gbewu' be that.

bukatyne: and who did the assignment of roles? Can you quote one verse which says it's not a man's role to wash plates?
My dear the man is the head of the home. The head never takes instructions from any part of the body. Any home where the woman reigns or where she dominates the man is not a good home. It will negatively impact the children especially the females because they'd expect their own husbands to be subservient to them as well. I have friends whose marriages are dead today simply because their wives were over bearing. One of them dumped his well paid job here in Nigeria to join his wife who ordered him to come join her raise children and do houseboy work in UK. My friend actually sent this girl to UK just to have their first baby and then she decided to stay, now they are divorced and he is back here in 9ja doing very well and even remarried. Women are just wonderful creatures, if you had your way you would open a thread on why men don't get pregnant and bear children abi?

I decree all men held bound, unwillingly, by their wives in any ungodly and oppressive way via any form of cheap blackmail or deceit be released right now IJN! wink
FamilyRe: Why Men Don't Help-Out With Domestic Chores by ROCKSTAND1: 10:23pm On Jan 17, 2013
bukatyne: If you understand that passage well, you will see the only house chore the woman did was to cook! ...she preparse the day's activities for her maids.... I hope you have that part in your own Bible. That passage actually praised the woman's business acumen than her cleaning acumen
She is depicted as an all-rounder. A mother, wife and resourceful home keeper. There's nothing new under the sun, a man's primary role in the home is not to wash plates. If he must do so it should be by choice not by force.

mapet: 1. Some of you women folks have talked with little wisdom IMHO. I hope your Beijin advocation is restricted to NL, less you risk loosing ur men. The one that will out-do you in chores and "services" are out there
2. By default this is what your mothers prepared you for so why the protests.
3. I was brough well brought upj can do virtually all the house chores you women are complaining of. Can cook lots of food, all boys in my house can pound Yam, can do Amala pretty well. Ccook soups and stew. My mother taught us all that
4. My wife is a perfectionist. The only thing she wants me to do is to gyst with her whn she's in the kitchen. Then help hand the knife over and inconscequential stuffs. I probably do house chores one in a year or less, but those times I've been called upon ve pulled my own weight.
5. The reality is that the house chores are are for both. Maintenance, electrical works, Car wash, pack the gutter in ur frontage on environmental sanitation days, are stuffs men handle
6. Now helping my wife out is something I long to do but my workaholic madam always tells me to leave it many times (God bless her mum) cos you can't meet her standard in house cleaning. She'll still do it over again, even if you've done some. but I help is bathing the kids on sundays cos we have little time to make early morning service (our maid don't wok weekends)

My submission are these;
1. Women do your chores. Men do yours.
2. Men help out.
3. Women it is not a sin if men don't help out.
4. Men expect hell if you don't help out.
5. I love Aribisala's submission wrt send the right message/ example for our children
I totally agree with you. I help my wife as much as i can, and she even hardly allows me do stuff. Just recently i offered to make indomie for myself but she 'evacuated' me from her kitchen, so i had to go bath the kids and put them to bed. She currently works 8 - 5, taking an MBA plus the home responsibilities. Sometime ago i was abroad for only 4 days and everything literary grounded to a halt. The generator, the water pump, the lights in the children's room, her car even my maigard! On arrival i fixed EVERYTHING in one day. My point is that we all have our roles to play and no party should force their own roles on the other. The man's primary responsibility is not doing house chores, God never designed him like that. The man is created to protect his family both physically and spiritually, every other thing is secondary. Lions hardly hunt, they leave that to the lionesses but when the meal arrives they get the 'Lion's share'. Women are specially endowed with the strength to do their assignments which include house chores and child bearing. The problem of the Western world is that they have adulterated family values and distorted the very foundation of the home. This is what has lead to homosexuality, teen violence etc. The virtuous woman in proverbs 31 was not a spirit yet her husband usually sat at the gates with the elders perhaps playing ludo. I pray never to be found wanting in any of my responsibilities to my family, in-laws, parents, siblings and even nation.
Christianity EtcHow Do You Praise God In Your Language? by ROCKSTAND1(op):
I truly feel praising God in my local language yoruba is much more deeper than in English language. Can u imagine expressions like:

Atofarati bi oke - He is solidly reliable

Car TalkHow Many Car Dealers Are In Nigeria by ROCKSTAND1(op):
I know this would be quite difficult to determine due to the fact that data is rarely available in our great nation, nonetheless i would greatly appreciate if anyone could offer an estimate of car dealers/ dealerships in Nigeria. This can cover both big and small operators, be also kind enough to explain the basis for your estimates. If Lagos is all you can reasonably and conveniently provide estimates for, please feel free to do so.
Car TalkRe: I Need Info On Auto Insurance by ROCKSTAND1(op): 6:01pm On Jan 02, 2013
Denn: your questions reqire a BSc Insurance Degree o....lol

i will try to answer as practical as possible with Nigeria as the core context:
the law requires a minimum of third party insurance for all vehicles plying our roads. Unfortunately, most vehicles in nigeria are not properly insured as most third party covers bought are fake. originals are sourced only from the accredited brokers or the insurance companies directly.

fixed cover rates exist in Nigeria....third party is around N5,000 while comprehensive is 5% for cars and 7.5% for Buses. you can get sweet concessions ( i got 3.5% with leadway and instalment payment spread over 3 months) if you ask and insist though. percentages on value of the vehicle

the cover includes a vehicle tracker for cars above a certain mark averagely N3m.

for claims, ensure you take pictures and document every detail...the time and description of event. in case there is human injury or death, ensure you get a police report, fill the claims form and document the event. allow a professional insurance broker review the documents before submitting. if the vehicle is still repairable, do not repair until an assessor from the insurance company reviews the vehicle. this is usually done in the premises of the workshop and discounts are often negotiated by the insurance assessors.

for total loss, the vehicle owner is indemnified dependent on the clauses in the contract.

all these process can take from as minimum as one month to up to 6 months

hope it helps
Thank you very much Denn this does help certainly. Though i wanted some more detailed statistics, i deeply appreciate your response.

PoliticsRe: Tinubu Calls For The Abolition Of The Senate by ROCKSTAND1:
Desola: Aboo rimi bayi? Oro lasan ni mo beere o ti agba iya yen ma de mu mi bu ke. I respected him a lot and was to a degree influenced by what I thought were unbiased points of views and political issues affecting Nigeria but as time passed, I started to notice a pattern - a pattern where you were not allowed to speak against the ACN, that if you were Yoruba, you were meant to accept all that ACN does so as to resist PDP in every way. No one loathes the PDP and the jonasatan's government more than me but I refuse to be a sheep and take all that ACN does, hook, line and sinker. ACN isn't infallible, they are nothing more than an offshoot of PDP (giving that a good chunk of their members were at some point PDP card carriers) but they on the back of Fashola and Oshiomole seem to be edging their rivals. However, must we say because one is our child, we should over pamper it? If we don't remove the speck from our eyes, should be wait for others to do it? I have never read any thread where this man has constructively criticised ACN or is he trying to say that they are without blesmish? Trust me, Seanet, your egbon is no longer impartial. I have a strong belief that he is now being paid. He is not as objective as he used to be.

He can call me all obscenities in the book but I make no apologies for my NL personality. I don't wear masks like he does and to be honest, he has let me down big time.
Very well articulated. There is hope for Nigeria! However, can we just be a little bit patient with GEJ? He has promised to surprise us by being best presido ever hasn't he? Its in our best interest to believe and support him now, abi?
