Politics / Ondo Farmers Slash Price Of Eggs, Hail Tinubu, Aiyedatiwa by Rockyheight: 10:09pm On Apr 11
Ondo Farmers Slash Price of Eggs, Hail Tinubu, Aiyedatiwa Over Distribution of 1,200 Metric Tonnes Grain Palliatives

The Ondo state chapter of Poultry Farmers Association of Nigeria has revealed that it has reduced the price of a crate of eggs from N5,000 to N3,000 from the farms.

This, according to them, was due to the distribution of 1,200 metric tonnes of grains and commodities as palliatives to its members by the state governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, in Akure on Monday.

Olawande Fadipe, Ondo state chairman of Poultry Farmers Association of Nigeria, disclosed the price reduction while speaking at the distribution of the grains and commodities to farmers in Owo local government on Thursday.

Fadipe expressed satisfaction and gratitude to the President and Ondo state governor for the intervention.

According to him, "We want to thank the President and Mr Governor for this kind gesture. Recently, poultry farmers have been finding it difficult to operate because of rising costs of animal feeds, and day-old chicken but with this intervention, we can go back to our businesses and make profits"

In the same vein, southwest chairman of Poultry Farmers Association of Nigeria, Gideon Oluleye, said the distribution of the grains would enable poultry farmers produce healthy chickens and eggs as well as stabilize poultry products across the markets in Ondo state.

Performing the distribution ceremony in Owo, the Ondo state deputy governor, Olayide Adelami, who represented the state governor, said the essence of the grains was to help boost poultry farming and ensure access to safe, nutritious and sufficient food in the state.

While thanking the president for the initiative, he implored the beneficiaries to use the grains for the purpose they are meant for.

"The distribution of free grains was deliberately done to crash prices of food items and ease the burden of Nigerians due to the current economic situation. Rest assured, Governor Aiyedatiwa will do everything within his power to ensure ondo state people enjoy the dividends of good governance and quick government's interventions in their specific area of needs" Adelami affirmed.

Politics / Akeredolu: Makinde Mourns Says His Death Is A Sad Loss To Yorubaland And Nigeria by Rockyheight: 4:34pm On Dec 27, 2023
Oyo State governor, ‘Seyi Makinde, has expressed sadness over the death of Ondo State governor, Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu, SAN.

Makinde, in a statement made available on Wednesday, stated that the death of the former President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) is a sad loss to Yorubaland and Nigeria.
He expressed his heartfelt condolences to his wife, Arabinrin Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu, the entire family, and the Government and people of Ondo State.

Describing Akeredolu, who until his death was the chairman of the South-West Governors’ Forum, as a dogged and courageous leader, the Oyo State governor said Aketi, as he was fondly called, worked hard with his colleague-governors for the peace, prosperity and progress of South-West states.

He said: “I received with great sadness the news of the death of my brother, Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu, SAN, the governor of Ondo State and chairman, South-West Governors’ Forum.
“I condole with his wife and children as well as the Government and people of Ondo State over this sad loss. In Aketi, South-West has lost a dogged fighter and courageous leader who worked hard for the peace, prosperity and progress of the region.

“I have also lost a worthy co-fighter for the South-West cause because we were both at the vanguard of the struggle, which birthed the South-West Security Network Agency codenamed Amotekun.

“Aketi’s fervent and unrelenting stance on issues that border on South-West’s regional integration and progress is a lesson for leaders. He will be sorely missed.
“Rest well, my dear brother and may the good Lord be with everyone you left behind.”

Politics / Would Tinubu As Governor Have Accepted The Directives To Fubara? Emmanuel Aziken by Rockyheight: 10:29am On Dec 23, 2023
Would Tinubu As Governor Have Accepted The Directives To Fubara? By Emmanuel Aziken

President Bola Tinubu has been a fighter on both sides in the contestation of power between the presidency and governors.

Last Monday and for the umpteenth time since his inauguration as president, Tinubu more than ever before brought to the fore his determination to use his new podium in the presidency to dominate his environment.

We have seen this attitude in the deification of the president by praise singers who have elevated Tinubu’s political anthem (On Your Mandate) to compete with the national anthem at state occasions.

In the latest example of the contestation for power, as was seen with Simi Fubara, the neophyte governor from Rivers State, we saw the governor surrender the patchy victories he had recently won last Monday at the sight of the president.

Before his presidency, Tinubu had also fought assiduously on the side of the governors against the encroachment of the powers of the states by the presidency.

It was while fighting from that position that he took the Olusegun Obasanjo presidency to court on a surfeit of issues in furtherance of the autonomy of the states.

Whether it was his personal revulsion of Obasanjo or for some other reasons, Tinubu took his spat to the extra level of regularly boycotting meetings of governors with the President. His appearances at such interactions between Obasanjo and governors were an exception.

It was in that pace that Tinubu became one of the few governors even among the opposition governors who opposed the third term amendment that would have ordinarily given them and the president another term in office.

In fact, Tinubu’s opposition to the third term amendment was a striking chunk for his beautification as one of the mainstays of democratic culture in the country.

However, having acquired his dream job of president, all eyes are now on Tinubu to sustain the legacy he built as a defender of federalism that was at the core of his battles with President Obasanjo while he was governor

Indeed, it is inconceivable to believe that Tinubu as governor would have submitted himself to such a parley as he presided over last Monday where he adjudicated between a sitting governor and his predecessor.

Indeed, Fubara had arrived last Monday night’s meeting with a bounce after bringing his predecessor, Wike to his knees. For doing that, the governor had won some popularity among Wike haters, particularly in Rivers State.

As it turned out in his adjudication, or presidential directive as one witness said, Tinubu turned back all the losses suffered by Wike and his protegees.

However, what has astounded many is the constitutional basis for the revisions that were decreed at that meeting.

Some of the decisions like the directive to re-present the 2024 budget proposal make a mockery of the democracy.

Some of the decisions are also seen as unconstitutional. How do you return the 25 or so lawmakers who violated the constitution by defecting and automatically losing their seats back as lawmakers?

A witness at the parley revealed that when the issue of the lawmakers who abandoned the PDP for the APC came up President Tinubu said that as the national leader of the APC, he could not see himself rejecting the lawmakers from the APC.

As it was told, the president laughed over it, saying that asking the lawmakers to return to the PDP would be like a father disowning his own children.

The witness, Hon David Briggs, a former chairman of Akuko-Toru Local Government Area has now revealed to the nation that what was claimed as an agreement between Fubara and Wike was more of a presidential directive that the president forced down the governor’s throat.

That several of the decisions reached at that meeting are contrary to the constitution brings to the fore the regard to which Nigerians would value our legal charter over the person of the president.

Indeed, the protest in Port-Harcourt yesterday by the coalition of workers, students, and civil society groups against the peace AGREEMENT reached between Governor Fubara and the camp of his predecessor, Wike is reflective of the popularity that Fubara has gained by distancing himself from his political mentor, Wike.

While Wike may have performed in building projects around Rivers State while he was governor, it is increasingly becoming clear that political projects are a different sort.

President Tinubu trying to help the former governor to build a political project on the head of the incumbent governor is clearly not working and it would be best for Tinubu to return to the years of his constitutional advocacy. Otherwise, the garlands that brought him forward could be enmeshed in a sullied legacy.

Politics / Rivers Assembly Crisis: Court Stops INEC From Conducting By-elections by Rockyheight: 10:39am On Dec 18, 2023
The Federal High Court in Abuja has barred Nigeria’s electoral commission, INEC, from organising by-elections to replace 27 members of the Rivers State House of Assembly whose seats were declared vacant.

Donatus Okorowo, the judge, gave the order on Friday but PREMIUM TIMES got a copy of the ruling on Sunday night.

A factional speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Edison Ehie, last Wednesday declared vacant the seats of 27 lawmakers who defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

While Mr Ehie is being backed by Governor Siminalayi Fubara, the 27-member faction led by Martin Amaewhule is loyal to Nyesom Wike, a former governor and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Messrs Siminalayi and Wike are locked in a fierce political battle over the control of Rivers State political structure in the PDP, which the FCT minister accuses his successor of destroying.

Mr Ehie had secured an interim order through an ex-parte application from the Rivers State High Court in Port Harcourt, enabling him and three of his colleagues who are loyal to Governor Fubara to do legislative business without interference from the Amaewhule-led faction.

An ex-parte application is one that does not require the participation of all sides before a decision can be taken by the court.

However, in a bid to forestall any by-elections from being held to fill their seats, the Wike-backed faction of the lawmakers through their lawyer, Peter Onuh, in an ex-parte request filed on 13 December, urged the Federal High Court in Abuja to restrain the Rivers State House of Assembly, INEC, and the PDP from taking actions that could undermine their rights.

Also, Mr Amaewhule and his group who are the applicants in the suit, prayed the court to restrain the State Security Service (SSS), the Inspector General of Police and the Clerk of the Rivers State House of Assembly from depriving them of their rights as lawmakers, including withdrawal of police security.

Ruling
In the interim ruling on Friday, the judge, Mr Okorowo, restrained INEC and the Rivers parliament “from declaring vacant or taking any steps whatsoever to declare the seats of the plaintiffs at the Rivers State House of Assembly.”

“An interim injunction is hereby granted restraining the 1st defendant (INEC) from conducting fresh elections to fill the seats of the plaintiffs (the 27 lawmakers) in the Rivers State House of Assembly, pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice.”

The judge barred the six defendants in the case from interfering with the 27 members of the Rivers State House of Assembly from conducting their legislative duties as speaker, deputy speaker and members of the parliament.

Mr Okorowo restrained the Inspector-General of Police and the SSS “from denying or refusing to provide security to the plaintiffs or withdrawing their security details.”

Thereafter, the judge adjourned the suit until 28 December for hearing.

Background
The political crisis in Rivers threw up a new twist last week when Governor Fubara, at the Government House in Port Harcourt, the state capital, presented the state’s 2024 appropriation bill to a four-member faction of the parliament.

The state High Court had paved the way for the four lawmakers when it restrained the Amaewhule-led group from interfering with the responsibilities of the Governor Fubara-backed legislators.

In October, the assembly split into two factions because of an attempt by some lawmakers to remove Governor Fubara from office.

In the ensuing power tussle, a section of the State House of Assembly complex was bombed by hoodlums.

This newspaper reported that the split was caused by the political tussle between Messrs Fubara and Wike.

Mr Wike had at the March governorship election in Rivers helped Mr Fubara win the election. But six months into the new administration, the two politicians in the oil-rich south-south State fell apart.

Martin Amaewhule is the speaker of the 27-member faction which is loyal to Mr Wike.

Mr Ehie, a former leader of the assembly who was removed for refusing to endorse Governor Fubara’s impeachment, later emerged speaker of the faction loyal to the governor.

The two factions have held parallel plenary sessions at different locations in Port Harcourt.

Politics / Rivers Crisis Is Not An Ethnic War Me And My Team Will Accept Peace - Wike by Rockyheight: 7:40am On Dec 18, 2023
Nyesom Wike, minister of the federal capital territory (FCT), says his political team in Rivers state will not allow anyone to “drag” it down.

Wike spoke on Sunday while addressing the traditional rulers of Ogbaland who visited him at his Port Harcourt residence.

The traditional rulers led by Nwachukwu Nnam-Obi III, visited Wike to congratulate him on the occasion of his 56th birthday.

The monarchs sued for peace over the political crisis in the state.

Over the past few weeks, Siminalayi Fubara, governor of Rivers, and Wike have been at loggerheads over control of the political structure of the state.

The feud between the duo snowballed to the Rivers house of assembly, causing factions in the state’s legislature.

At least nine commissioners have resigned from the cabinet of Fubara amid the political crisis.

'WE’LL ACCEPT PEACE’

While addressing the traditional rulers, Wike said he and his team would accept peace regarding the political crisis in the state, adding that they will not involve in violence.

The former governor said the crisis in the state is not an “ethnic war”, adding that residents did not vote based on ethnicity in the March governorship election.

No politician will fold his hands and allow to be dragged down,” Wike said.

“I and my team would accept peace but we won’t allow ourselves to be dragged down because when we go down, who will protect our people. Who will talk about our own interest.”

The FCT minister warned that politicians should not destroy the “ladder” they used to get to exalted positions.

He added that in every social group , there are rules and regulations guilding the behaviour of members.

“In everywhere you are, even in the traditional institutions, there are rules. You can’t run away from it. In a political group, there are rules,” he added.

“You cannot say that because an Oba has emerged and then an Oba will not follow the rules of the traditional institution.

“No! An Oba will always obey the rules. So also in politics, there are things you must not do and there are things you must do.

“Don’t pull the ladder that you use in climbing. When you are coming down, the ladder may not be there.

“Also leave the ladder so that other people can also climb the ladder.”

Sir Fubara made the promise at the 35th convocation ceremony of the Rivers State University that took place at the Convocation Arena of the institution in Nkpolu-Oroworukwo, Port Harcourt on Saturday.

The governor said the promised support is borne out of the fact that education serves as the cornerstone for a firm, equitable and progressive society that is desired by Rivers State.

"Bear in mind that funding is a problem, not just to this university system but also to governance. But as you all know, education is the cornerstone of a firm, equitable and progressive society.

"Therefore, we will continue to do our best to finance our university. Our commitment to make RSU one of the best in this country is a target and a process we have just started today."

Governor Fubara noted with delight the result-oriented approach adopted by the leadership of RSU to achieving the record of successes being celebrated including securing full accreditation for all programmes in the institution despite the challenges.

"Let me commend the VC for his innovation, and result-oriented approach to the administration of this university. Let me promise this university community that the grant approved but not released will be released by Monday, 18th Dec. 2023.

"The essence of our commitment to education development is reflected in our 2024 budget where it received the third highest allocation.

"Let me, therefore, assure you that we will disburse a fair share of these resources to address the University's most critical challenges, including support for the full and effective development of the new campuses, the provision of a stable power supply, the building of student hostels, and effective CCTV coverage to enhance safety and security in the campuses."

Giving his address, Vice Chancellor of the Rivers State University, Prof Nlerum Okogbule said a total of 6,326 graduates were conferred with first degrees, postgraduate diplomas, Masters and Doctor of Philosophy.

Prof. Okogbule informed that all 24 programmes in the university have full accreditation, the admission quota for the medicine and surgery programmes increased from 100 to 200 students; that of nursing and midwifery also increased from 50 to 100 and that all of the university’s four satellite campuses are in full operation.

In his remark, the Chancellor of the University, Justice Sidi Bage Muhammad 1, who is also the Emir of Lafia Bare-Bari and Chairman of Nassarawa State Council of Chiefs, demanded adequate funding of tertiary institutions so as to strengthen them to undertake research that addresses the developmental needs of Nigeria.

Politics / Fuel Subsidy Removal: Oyo Constitutes Salary Review Committee by Rockyheight: 8:48pm On Jun 05, 2023
In consonance with his proactive approach to governance, Oyo State Governor, Engr Seyi Makinde, has constituted a committee to review workers’ wages in the state.

The committee which was constituted during a meeting with labour leaders in the state at the Executive Chambers, has eight weeks to turn in its report.

Governor Makinde said following the removal of subsidy on Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), it became imperative for the government to take another look at the salary structure to cushion its effects on workers.

He said, “For us, with all sincerity, I think it is time to engage and ensure that we are proactive, irrespective of what is coming from the federal level. We are already prepared for it here and we can run our own programmes.

“Yes, the fuel subsidy removal is going to affect all of us but we do have control over certain things in Oyo State, and one of these is to be proactive and engage ourselves. They may call for strike or certain actions at the federal level but the labour leaders in Oyo State must be aware of our own situation.

“So, we must appreciate the fact that our economy is fragile. We must be proactive and set the tone without prejudice to whatever negotiation that is happening at the federal level.”

At the meeting attended by Oyo State chairman of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Kayode Martins and his Trade Union Congress counterpart, Olatunbosun Olabiyi, the governor also said, “I can say it to the whole world that in Oyo State there is no trust deficit between the government and labour leaders. It actually goes both ways. If we agree on what to do, I don’t look back, and if you have my commitment on anything, you should not look back. Whatever that is happening at the national level should not create any trust deficit between us. So, I welcome you all to Omituntun 2.0.”

The Governor also seized the opportunity to express his appreciation to the Labour leaders for their support during his first term in office.

In his reaction, the NLC chairman said minimum wage review was overdue. He then called on the state government to work towards its quick realization.

The meeting had in attendance Labour unions leaders, the Deputy Governor, Barrister Bayo Lawal; Head of Service, Bunmi Oni; former Deputy Governor, Ambasador Taofeek Arapaja; former Speaker of Oyo State House of Assembly, Senator Monsurat Sunmonu; former Special Adviser on Labour, Bayo Titilola-Sodo; wife of former governor, Alhaja Mutiat Ladoja; and traditional leaders, among others.

Politics / Music Commends Makinde Over Adogba Mosque by Rockyheight: 4:50pm On Mar 13, 2023
The Muslim Rights Concern has expressed satisfaction and appreciation to Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State for removing his name from the signboard.

Recall that the Islamic group, on Saturday, criticized the governor for naming the mosque that he demolished and rebuilt after him.

The governor reportedly gave orders for the removal on Sunday, following Saturday’s protest.

MURIC in a statement obtained by MOUTHPIECE NGR on Monday commended Makinde in a statement by its Executive Director, Professor Ishaq Akintola.

He said: “reports reaching MURIC’s Lagos headquarters say Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has removed his name from the signboard of Adogba Central Mosque, Iwo Road, Ibadan.

“Recall that Adogba Central Mosque was demolished by the Makinde administration in 2020, despite our protestations. The governor promised to rebuild it, and it was recently rebuilt. But the governor renamed the mosque after himself, and MURIC asked him to remove his name.

“We advised him to delete his name and leave the mosque’s original name there before the fast-approaching gubernatorial election of Saturday, March 18, 2023, in order to avoid protest votes from Muslims in the state.

“The state branch of MURIC has confirmed that the governor’s name has been removed from the inscription on the mosque, which now reads ‘Adogba Central Mosque’. This was done yesterday, March 12th, 2023.”

“We appreciate Governor Seyi Makinde for complying with MURIC’s advice. MURIC may be radical, but it is rational. We affirm that we are not confrontational or militant. Neither of us are unnecessarily difficult to relate to once the relationship is based on mutual respect and no attempt is made to trample on the Allah-given fundamental rights of Muslims.

“We believe that the adherents of different religions can peacefully coexist in this country and work together towards making Nigeria great.”

“May Allah continue to protect and bless Governor Seyi Makinde. We are satisfied with the removal of his name from the mosque. No more bitter feelings, no more distrust. MURIC will continue to pursue cordial relations with both government and private institutions in Nigeria as long as they continue to give Muslims their rights and dues and as long as they allow their actions to be guided by the principles of equity, fairness, and justice,” Akintola said.

Politics / Folarin, Lam Adesina, Others Pelted With Stones At Gate Spare Part Market by Rockyheight: 8:45pm On Feb 02, 2023
It was a show of shame on Wednesday as candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Oyo state (APC), Senator Teslim Folarin, Former member of House of Representatives, who is also seeking a re-election, Dapo Lam Adesina, and other candidates of the opposition party received the greatest shock of their lives as they were disgraced by traders at the Gate Spare part market where they had gone to campaign.

According to an eyewitness, Sunday Akande, who is a tyre dealer, said the campaign train of senator Teslim Folarin had gone to the market to solicits for votes. However, they got more than what they bargained for as they were seriously embarrassed with the chants of “Ebin Palu” and called the party Afebi Pani People’s party as stones and other dangerous missiles were hurled at them by traders who refused to listen to what they have to say.

To further show their displeasure and frustration, the traders also threw sachet water at them but for the timely intervention of the security aides who quickly ushered them into their vehicles as they scampered for safety. The incident which according to sources would have been fatal.

Akande further stated that the frustration expressed by the people is as a result of the hardship inflicted on the poor masses by the APC government at the Federal level.

He equally said that Senator Folarin who had been to the senate thrice, and a one time senate leader has nothing to show in terms of bringing development to Oyo state or his senatorial district.

He emphasized that the current senator and APC governorship candidate has nothing worthy to say to them rather than the usual lies.

However, on his part, another trader, Mukaila Animashaun noted that if not for the way Governor Seyi Makinde has governed the state, things would have been so terrible in Oyo state, adding that Seyi Makinde has done creditably well particularly during the COVID-19 era when APC states were shut down, Governor Makinde resisted the pressure to do same in Oyo state thereby saving lives and businesses.

Animashaun maintained that the traders at the Spare part market have all resolved to vote en-mass for the re-election of Governor Seyi Makinde and that they are waiting for the campaign train of the goverbor so that they can fully express their love and support for him.

He also noted that his second term in office would bring prosperity and development to Oyo state especially now that the country is going through difficult time.

Politics / Show Up, It's Getting Too Late, Makinde Media Team Charges Oppositions . by Rockyheight: 6:19pm On Jan 16, 2023
The chairman of the Seyi Makinde Re-election Media Team, prince Dotun Oyelade has appealed to the APC and the ACCORD gubernatorial candidates not to abandon the campaign train to the sitting governor Seyi Makinde alone.

According to the press release, governor Makinde in the past 6 weeks had engaged in numerous visits to all the corners of the state beginning with Reconciliation and Town Hall briefings to every zone and is currently consolidating with the traditional campaign rallies to mop up the ground in spite of his unprecedented achievements.

The campaign team therefore urged the opposition not to give up too soon and engage the space of political theatre.

The release recall that the fact that governor Makinde won with almost 200,000 votes in 2019 when he had no antecedent and no heavyweights backing him does not mean that the opposition must abdicate their constitutional responsiblities.

Prince Oyelade reminded the opposition that in the last few weeks to the election, the Army of youths, students, pensioners, traders, artisans, civil servants and market women including housewives will takeover the GSM campaign network and ensure that even in the *Impossible* event that Chief Adelabu reconciles with senator Folarin, Gov makinde will still win by the highest possible margin in the history of gubernatorial elections in oyo state.

This was as the Governor has also officially transmitted his executive power to his deputy, Barrister Bayo Abdulroheem Lawal to act in his stead for the period of his Leave.

The Governor had in a letter addressed to the state Assembly notified the House that his Leave will last for a period of 30 days.

The Governor’s Leave begins Thursday 11th of August and ends on 3rd September, 2022.

The Speaker, Oyo State House of Assembly, Honourable Debo Ogundoyin, who confirmed the Governor’s letter titled “Vacation Declaration” at Thursday’s plenary sitting said the Governor’s action was commendable because the action has further shown Makinde’s passion for Oke-ogun.

Politics / Oyo PDP : Makinde And The Departure Of Political Deadweights // Omolere Omoetan by Rockyheight: 7:09am On May 11, 2022
Oyo PDP : Makinde And The Departure of Political Deadweights // Omolere Omoetan

It is said that Politics and Democracy are games of numbers hence the common saying that the majority carries the day. During an election, every vote counts as a single vote can be the tie breaker which tips the scales in a candidate's favour.

However, in as much as every individual is considered important in the concept of Democracy and Politics, there are times when the chaff will be separated from the wheat. Call it self-cleansing if you like, the fact is that winnowing needs to occur either as a consequence of natural phenomenon or a deliberate process.

The recent decamping of certain "Aggrieved and Politically Inconsequential members" of the People's Democratic Party to various Parties of their choice, took a long time coming, but was not unexpected. Their departure is a classic example of a winnowing process through a natural phenomenon. Now that the chaffs have been separated from the wheat, the PDP in Oyo state is set to consolidate it's dominance under the leadership of Engr. Seyi Makinde. It is better to go into a battle with a few committed soldiers, than a mix multitude of egotistic and overrated individuals.

While not downplaying the political abilities of a few in their midst, however most seem to have an hyperbolic impression of themselves and need to be brought back to earth with a resounding thud.

Fact is, most of the so called Aggrieved Members have no relevance politically or electorally. Obviously, that's why the governor and the party hierarchy at the state and national levels didn't take them too seriously. What they did, while in PDP, was to draw relevance from attacking the governor. Now that they have removed themselves, we wait to see how mighty they are or will become.

They didn't just give up their membership of the party, they did so a long time ago. Their rebellion was birthed when they chose to fight with the leader of the PDP in the state.

Though they claimed to be experienced in politics, they failed the simple test of knowing the difference between a Prince and a king. Seyi Makinde the Candidate ( Prince), and Seyi Makinde the Governor ( king), are two different persons.

If they are Politically savvy as they claimed, they would have known that the rules of engagement for a Prince is different from that of a King, It is their inability to discern the difference that has pushed them to the precipice, and they have now taken a political plunge that is bound to end in regrets.

These decampees included people who recently got acquainted with politics and those who have been for a while without any meaningful impact; those who have serially lost every election they took part in. Some even lost elections as recently as 2019, while others became an item because their names got mentioned in the same sentence with Governor Makinde.

The truth is that the political strength of these so called party heavy weights are limited to their single vote. All Motion, no Mass. They have been weighed in the balance and they came up short.

If one were to carefully analyse the quality of those who recently left the PDP on the basis of their political or electoral value, it will be out of magnanimity and excessive generosity that they will be considered as paper weights

It will be recalled that upon the conclusion of the Oyo State PDP Congress and National Convention wherein winners emerged, the purported internal wranglings within the Oyo PDP should have been over with everyone knowing their place in the scheme of things.

His victory notwithstanding, the Governor of Oyo state, His Excellency, Engr Seyi Makinde, in his usual magnanimous and self-effacing manner, did not rub it on the faces of his traducers. Rather, he urged the newly-elected executives of the party in the state to seek reconciliation with the so-called aggrieved members to move the party forward. The governor made reasonable efforts to reconcile with them, yet they spurned his extended hand of fellowship.

Chief amongst them, is a certain self-acclaimed leader, who before now, had not achieved anything politically. Someone who never held an office, either elected or appointed, yet for some queer reasons, thinks he is the Mojo that brought Makinde to the Government House.

Makinde is God's project, and no one can rule over a people without God saying so. That these set of Party members were part of the process doesn't make them the beginning and the end. Now that they have left, they will come to the realization that the Almighty only used them as a tool towards achieving an objective. Come 2023, God will do it again in a grandiose way without them. Perhaps then, they will comprehend that there is a God who is interested in the affairs of men and has chosen Seyi Makinde.

Governor Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde, within the space of three years, has written his name in the hearts of the people of Oyo state. He needs no one to market him before them. His good deeds are evident in every sector of the state, and his pact is with the People of Oyo state who he has promised to serve, not with "Belly First" Politicians.

Eagerly, the people are waiting to say thank you to his Excellency with their votes, come 2023.

Seyi Makinde lekan si!!!

BREAKING: Makinde Orders Upward Review of Councilors Salary, To Now Get 350k Per Month – Govt Source

Oyo APC Crisis: Bayo Adelabu May Join Force Makinde If...APC Source Reveals

Following the unabated crisis rocking the Oyo state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), a source within the Bayo Adelabu's camp who craved to speak anonymously has hinted that the 2019 governorship candidate of the opposition party may join force with Seyi Makinde ahead of the 2023 general election.

The source claimed Adelabu otherwise called 'penkelemes' has invested so much in the party for him to be subjected to what was described as ridicule within the opposition party in the state saying that the PDP bloc within the opposition party will not be allowed to take over the party structure as 2023 approaches.

According to the source who claimed to be a die-hard supporter of Adelabu, the current situation in Oyo APC has clearly shown what those tagged 'PDP bloc' planned on doing with the opposition party saying that if presented with the right offers by Seyi Makinde, Adelabu may team up with the Governor.

Asked what the right offers could be, the source maintained that nothing can be ruled out as far as politics is concerned noting that since Seyi Makinde has only one term left by right and constitutionally after his first tenure, the right offer on the table may trigger a move away from the crisis ridden APC.

The source queried why the new chairman of Oyo APC, Isaac Omodewu, who was a former Commissioner was sworn-in by the national body despite the glaring irregularities and crisis that emanated from the party's state congress stressing that the outcome of the state congress has made matters worse for the Oyo APC.

The source however, added that expressing the possibility of Adelabu's move to the PDP was a personal view based on current political turn of events in the state since Isaac Omodewu got sworn in as the elected chairman of the opposition party.

"I really don't want to talk about this untill our 'oga' (Adelabu) decides on what next to do we are his followers and whatever he wants to do we are with him but you know this is politics, you can not rule out anything. Adelabu's possible move away from APC to advance his political ambition is also a strong possibility.

"Either it will be to team up with Governor Makinde or a move to another party, I can't tell for now, we're watching how events continue to unfold but I'm sure if Senator Teslim Folarin and his people are bent on the path they have taken then you know of course that our oga' will do something about it.

"I don't want to talk more about it so that you journalists will not turn it to something else, you wait, at the appropriate time the whole worls will know where we are going." The source said.

Deji Adeyanju Sponsored Attack On Seyi Makinde: By Omolere Omoetan

The political season is upon us, people ! Brace yourselves to see different characters of jesters, trouble makers, mischief makers and what have you. These folks will fight tooth and nail to outdo themselves for different reasons, mostly pecuniary, and some just to shove themselves in our face with their nuisance factor. It was indeed amusing to see a certain Deji Adeyanju getting in on the act recently, targeting the Oyo State Governor, His Excellency, Engr Seyi Makinde. It was also quite ridiculous as this article will show.

For starters, Deji Adeyanju, in his own words, claimed that he was in Ibadan for a day or two and in that amount of time, the man came to the shocking conclusion that there was "Zero Governance" in Oyo state. Pray tell, how can any sane human come to such a conclusion with such a short visit ? It was very ridiculous to say the least. It is obvious that Adeyanju is totally off his rocker with this submission.

If there was any doubt that the young man is disturbed and going through a difficult period at the moment, such has been cleared with this recent rants by a largely jobless plebian seeking the attention of a noble.

It is indeed in Mr. Adeyanju's character to be a fly in the ointment. However, he has taken on a wrong target this time. If he thought that by spewing rubbish he would get attention of Governor Seyi Makinde, then he is greatly mistaken. Few people in Oyo state would care about what he has to say. Majority of Oyo people can see what the governor has been able to achieve in just under three years in office. No one, let alone an internet pseudo-comrade, can rubbish their beloved governor's scorecard of achievements.

We will school Mr. Adeyanju, as he does not know that Makinde has been able to construct over 100 kilometers of roads in the state. He does not know that the hitherto intractable issues bedevilling the Ladoke Akintola University, whereby students stayed at home for close to 20 months have been resolved by the governor. He also does not know that over 300 hospitals and health care centers have been built or renovated across the state. In the area of security, Adeyanju did not know that over 100 vehicles and security gadgets were purchased for security agencies in the state. Mr Adeyanju a.k.a "I too Know" is not aware that free education obtains in Oyo state. But then, how would a paid agent of destabilization know that Oyo state is among the few states in the country that has paid her UBEC counterpart funds ? There's the " Light up Oyo" project; if Adeyanju did not notice how this has opened up the night economy, then the man is blind both figuratively and physically! Would he know that Oyo state pensioners and workers are pleased with the governor ? He wouldn't know of course.

Perhaps we should take a look at who the Deji Adeyanju fellow is. Exactly what does he do for a living ? He claims to be a lawyer, when was the last time he defended anyone in court, he should tell us how he earns a living, How has he impacted humanity positively ? He claims to be a comrade and an activist, but he is more of a "Cashtivist" open to the highest bidder, and we ask what sort of comrade is he ? He's obviously one that goes about attacking high profile people with the hope that crumbs will be thrown his way Perhaps, he has been paid by Makinde's political opponents to malign him. Whatever the case might be, I am sure by the reaction that he has gotten thus far from residents of the state, he would have realized that he has made a blunder by attacking the governor.

I am sure it is obvious to him, by now, that his poorly-fed dog is barking up the wrong tree. The truth is that Deji Adeyanju is a classical example of the "Lazy Youth" that the president, Muhammadu Buhari, was referring to in that infamous interview. An inconsequential entity seeking relevance by heckling persons way ahead of him.

One can hazard a guess as to why Adeyanju is towing this perfidious path. It is apparent that he was recruited by the opposition to throw shades at the people's governor, hiding under the guise of altruism.

I will counsel Mr Adeyanju to get a proper job, and make his mother proud. He is fast taking a wrong turn and is now close to the precipice.

Mr. Adeyanju is a political mercenary and a " Cashtivist" who should never be taken seriously.

Politics / Aggrieved Members Now Know Where The Party Structure Is” –makinde by Rockyheight: 8:06pm On Nov 16, 2021

“Aggrieved Members Now Know Where The Party Structure Is” –Makinde, Charges Oyo PDP Excos On True Reconciliation

Oyo State Governor, ‘Seyi Makinde, on Tuesday said aggrieved members of the party now know where the party structure is in the state, charging the new executive committe of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state to reconcile all aggrieved members and unify the party’s structure ahead of the 2023 general election.

Makinde, who stated this at the Executive Council Chamber of his office, while receiving the new executive committee members who visited him, urged the party’s executive committee to be fair and just to all members.

He said: “I think by now, even the aggrieved members know where the party structure is. But we are not going to say they should go away as we also have to reach out to them. When the general populace pushed us to get ourselves organised that they will vote PDP, even some of our members did not believe it would work.

“We said something to ourselves that we may have a disagreement because there will always be disagreement in every human interaction. But what we are saying is that even if we have a disagreement, let us get ourselves together to get power and then those disagreements will go to the Government House where we will all settle it.

“And today, we are here in the Exco Chamber. Yes, we may not be able to satisfy everybody. Anytime we have challenges with anybody, let them bring those things to the table and we’ll fix it.

“We are lucky in Oyo State. Today, the Deputy National Chairman (South) of the party is from Oyo State. So, there is a channel to reach the very top decision-makers.

“So, I want to promise you that everything we are supposed to work out to ensure that the party structure is well oiled and maintained, will be done.

“Everything that we have to do in terms of providing logistics and incentives will get to you. We are the ones at the state level but anything we are doing must get to the grassroots level because those are the people that will interface with the general populace.

“We are drinking from the PDP well and it is my prayer that others will also drink from the same well. So, that is why we must not pollute the well no matter how angry we may be. And I am sure that all the things each and every one of us is expecting will get to us.

“Another issue the chairman raised is about the party and government being on the same page because where we normally have the beginning of failure is when people are facing different directions unknowingly.

“As the leadership and administrator of the party in Oyo State, we must have the commitment to be fair and just to all the party members and even to those that claimed to be aggrieved. Once you bring them to the fold, deal with everybody as one. Let us try our best to do all we need to do and leave the rest for God.”

Earlier in his remarks, the newly elected state Chairman, Hon. Dayo Ogungbenro, appreciated the governor for hosting members of the new executive committee.

Ile-Ife Is Owned By My Ancestors – Olugbo Of Ugbo Kingdom

His Imperial Majesty, Oba(Dr) Frederick Akinruntan(Okoro Ajiga 1), The Olugbo of Ugboland, Ondo State has said that the ancient city of Ile Ife in Osun State is owned by his forefathers.

The monarch made the assertion while addressing some members of Southwest Group of Online Publishers (SWEGOP) who were on a courtesy visit to his palace.

Oba Akinruntan reiterated that his ancestors were the original settlers and aboriginal owners of the ancient city which is known as the cradle of Yoruba race, before migrating to the coastal area of Ondo State. He said their migration was based on the directive by Ifa and Osanyin that the land of the ancient city was barren.

Revealing more facts about Ugbo Kingdom, Akinruntan said,” it is a notorious fact that Oduduwa came as a stranger to Ile Ife. Oduduwa met sixteen communities in Ile Ife out of which thirteen have been identified in present day Ile Ife, and the aborigines are still very much in these communities, being active and holding principal roles in the day to day affairs of Ile Ife today.

” It is equally clear that he met these communities who had their kings that wore beaded crowns already in confederacy under the Paramount Ruler(Osangangan Obamakin), the existing communities in ancient Ile Ife, originally called Ugbomokun which had an established monarchical system of kingship as well as culture, customs and traditions regarding all faces of life including marriage, agriculture, worship, justice, security, parenting, commerce and others, under the leadership of Osangangan Obamakin(the son of Oranfe).”

He added, “Osangan Obamakin received Oduduwa into Ile Ife, and gave him residences as well as farmlands to cultivate. The elders in Ile Ife today still affirm that Oduduwa was a regular visitor to Ilero(Ile Apero), the palace of Osangangan Obamakin, which is still in existence today in Ile Ife, along Iremo road, and the aboriginal palace is unanimously adjudged by the elders of Ile Ife today as the Oldest Assembly In Yorubaland.

” Oduduwa was a likeable man, and was welcomed by Osangangan Obamakin but in time, dynastic wars began between Oduduwa and Obatala which eventually led to the defeat of Obatala in his Idita community, and sparked off series of events that have shaped history till this day.

“The Ugbo-Ilaje are direct descendants of Osangangan Obamakin whose dynasty founded Ile Ife, and reigned as the aboriginal Paramount Ruler of ancient Ile Ife which was known at the time as Igbomokun(Ugbomokun). He too was the son Oranfe who is recorded to be half man and half spirit, and lived on the hills of Ora.

” The offsprings and siblings of Osangangan Obamakin included Obalufon, Ojoyin, Alawo, Obawinrin, Obariyun, Owajan, Woyeasiri, Obarena, Obalara, Lowagbafin, and Baba Sigidi to mention but a few, in present day Ile Ife, there are existing quarters of Osangangan Obamakin where his direct descendants who are my kith and kin reside”.

“Oranfe, the father of Osangangan Obamakin, was mystified as a god and believed to have his palace built of fire both in heaven and his earthy abode on Ora hill in Ile Ife. That was why he was fondly referred to as Oranfe Onile Ori Oke.

“Oranfe was greatly revered and the entire spiritual paraphernalia that founded ancient Ugbomokun otherwise known as Ife Ooye or Ife Ooyelagbo was in the custody of Oranfe which included the dictates of the Oro Initiates as well as the powers of Ifa, the god of wisdom and divinity, after the ascension of Orunmila(the progenitor of IFA) from the earth.”

The Monarch maintained that the historical facts of Ugbo Kingdom as expatiated above can be found in the article entitled “A History of The Oldest Throne In Yorubaland,” By His Imperial Majesty Oghonne, Oba(Dr.) F.E.O. Akinruntan CON, FICA, FNIM and ODU: A Journal of West African Studies, New Series NO 46 July, 2015, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, Osun State, Nigeria.

Oba Akinruntan also explained that he has no link or historical ties with the Igbo despite sharing border with each other, stressing that people have been mistakenly pronouncing his Ugbo as Igbo.

He said that Igbo and its origin could be traced to East, while he, as the paramount ruler of Ugbo kingdom is from Southwest, geopolitical zone of Nigeria.

The Olugbo of Ugboland maintained that he has every fact regarding his claim about Ile-Ife and Ugbo kingdoms. He challenged anyone with contrary opinion to come out and contradict his facts.

PDP will Go Ahead With National Convention- Makinde
…says Party will not be distracted

Governor of Oyo State and Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Convention Organising Committee, ‘Seyi Makinde, has declared that the October 30 and 31 dates for the party’s National Convention remained unchanged despite attempts by some individuals to scuttle the programme.

He maintained that the National Executive Committee of the party acted in good faith by fixing the convention for the said date and not to witch-hunt any individual or truncated anyone’s mandate as being insinuated.
Makinde, in a statement signed on behalf of the National Convention Organising
Committee and made available to newsmen, said despite the action of some individuals to approach a Kaduna High Court in order to prevent the convention from holding, the party would not be distracted.
He charged members of the party across the country to ignore the antics of such individuals and focus on organising a national convention, which according to him, will prove to all Nigerians that the PDP remains the best option to rescue Nigeria.

He said: “The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Convention Organising Committee (NCOC) is using this medium to alert members of our party and members of the public that we are aware of the actions of a few misguided PDP members who have approached the High Court in Kaduna in an attempt to prevent our great party, the PDP from holding its National Convention on October 30 and 31, 2021.

“Notwithstanding their right to approach a court of competent jurisdiction to air their grievances, we maintain that the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the PDP has acted in good faith in fixing our convention for October 30 and 31. It is not meant to witch-hunt anyone or to truncate anyone’s mandate.
“Therefore, we call on all members and supporters of the PDP to ignore this distraction as we prepare to host a convention that will send a clear signal to Nigerians that the PDP is the only party that has the will and the might to rescue Nigeria from the catastrophe that we have been enduring for the past six years.”

According to Governor Makinde, some forces trying to divide the party were behind the latest attempts to stop the convention.
He urged PDP members to keep the faith, stating that the party is taking all necessary measures to ensure that its focus is not derailed, adding that the party will do everything possible to strengthen its structure and put in the efforts needed to unite the county and restore its glory.

“We are aware that a clearly united PDP is a threat to the forces that seek to divide us. Therefore, we urge our teeming supporters nationwide to keep the faith as we are taking all necessary measures to ensure that we will not be distracted from our goal.

“We are determined to strengthen our party structure and put in the work needed to unify and restore our great nation back on the path to economic prosperity and greatness.
“We therefore urge all party faithful to continue to rally support as we prepare to host our National Convention on October 30 and 31, 2021.”

No Supporter, Follower Should Lose His/Her life Supporting Politicians – Oyo Gov, Makinde

Oyo State Governor, 'Seyi Makinde, on Saturday, reiterated his belief in politics without bitterness, warning that no one should lose his life supporting politicians.

Makinde, who stated this at the wedding ceremony of one of the sons of former Ekiti State governor and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Ayo Fayose, held in Lagos, charged individuals fighting over politics and religion to have a rethink, as, according to him, none of the two is worth losing one's life fighting over.

A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mr. Taiwo Adisa, quoted the governor as further saying that whatever happened between him and Fayose has already been put behind them.

Makinde, who congratulated the Fayose and Abdul families on the occasion of their children's wedding, prayed for a blessed union for the new couple.

He equally pointed out how the wedding, apart from bringing together politicians including the governor of Rivers State, Barr. Nyesom Wike, among others, had also broken the religious barrier, as a Christian and a Muslim family allowed the solemnisation of matrimony between their children.

Makinde said: "I want to congratulate Olamide and Oluwalonigba.  This is the beginning of a journey and I pray that it will produce male and female children.

"Both of you have come together today to become one and God will be with you till eternity. Now that you have come together to become one, harmonise your dreams.

"I want to believe that you saw me join the Ekiti people when they were told to ask for their wife. I stood up and came with them."

Makinde, who urged politicians to play politics devoid of violence or disharmony, said as the country moves towards 2023, politicians must learn that politics is not worth losing one's life over.

He added: "If you look at the former governors in Ekiti State - Governor Segun Oni, Governor Ayo Fayose and the incumbent Governor Kayode Fayemi, they have governed the state at one time or the other but they were not in the same party. So, those of you who want to die because of us politicians, be careful.

"Politics is not something that should cause anybody to lose his or her life. We are moving towards the electioneering period, and I just want to use this opportunity to appeal to you all.

"If you also look at this marriage, the bride and groom are from Christian and Muslim families. So, people who also want to always fight on religious grounds should have a rethink."

Governor Makinde also reiterated the view he expressed on Channel TV's Politics Today, that he and former Governor Fayose have put their differences behind them, saying: "Whatever happened between us before now is in the past."

Civil servants in Oyo state have started receiving salary alert for the month of July on the 16th from their various banks.

Retirees too were not left out as they many are already receiving credit alerts from their monthly pensions.

A senior civil servant at the state Secretariat told journalists that the development is commendable and would serve as relief especially as workers prepare for the Salah holidays.

Federal Government had on Thursday 15th July declared July 20 and 21 as public holiday to commemorate this year's Eid-el Kabir.

One of the civil servants who did not want his name in print said ” The worries about Ileya celebration fot our muslim friends in the service has been allayed and we are happy that Gov Makinde made this to happen, Although he is passionate about the welfare of the civil servant in the state and this further confirm his love for workers.

“Since he came on board he has never renege in his promise to pay salary on or before 25th of every month, we are getting our promotion, leave bonus, arreas and other remuneration very well and this doesn’t in any way affects infrastructural and other develoomental projects in all sectors.
