PoliticsRe: Buhari, Jonathan In Shocking Contrast In Aso Rock Over Transition (must read) by Rose2014: 9:54pm On Apr 15, 2015
skak:
There was a sharp contradiction between
The President-elect, Maj. Gen
Muhammadu Buhari and the outgoing
Goodluck Jonathan at the Aso Rock
Presidential villa few days ago in
connection with transition committee for
handing over.

According to source privy at the meeting,
the contrast set in when President
Goodluck allegedly asked for the list of
representatives of the President-Elects of
the All Progressives Congress and the
required remuneration, which was given to
the president. The source stated that
Buhari was surprised that President
Jonathan’s list and corresponding cost was
allegedly put at N3billion for a job
estimated to last only 2months.

On the contrary, Buhari list submitted to
President Goodluck Jonathan did not
contain any cost or remuneration for his
committee members. When the President
asked why Buhari’s list didn’t show
corresponding cost? The President-elect,
Buhari answered that his team was made
up of volunteers and their feeding would
be by individuals even if they have to
bring in leftover food from their homes.
No word has been heard from the
presidency since then. “This is the
beginning of purposeful leadership”,our
source stated.

Two weeks later, Buhari denies ever saying people volunteered to do anything

I'm still trying to fathom why this thread is deemed as a gang up against north and SW.
Are people seriously kidding me with that ish? Where or what in OP original post gave such suggestions. Are people f2king serious? Una are that afraid of a SS/SE unity seriously? Smh at the hypocrisy.

@topic.
I don't trust the OP one bit and based on his past utterances he's nothing but a hypocrite. But that does not mean, I do not agree that SS and SE need to work together if we actually ever going to achieve our desires. It was my best friend, an ibibio that opened my eyes in terms of all gang ups against SS and SE. For some una, it was this past election that cleared una eyes but there were some of us that was enlightened prior to the election. All the election did was prove my believes once more. I've always maintained SS and SE need eachother to achieve whatever they desire. If we stop pushing against eachother, stop fighting against eachother we can achieve greatness. I'll use my people for example. For years now, delta north have tried numerously to obtain the governorship of Delta and for years, our work has been in vain. It was a year or was it two years ago we allowed SE Igbos to put a voice in our fight. Though they didn't invade delta governorship, they spoke up multiple times about it and from what I heard, it was Peter Obi that pushed for a deltan northern to be PDP flag bearer. How accurate that is, I'm not sure. Just a rumor that my cousin told me. Anyway, in the short period of them getting involved, a task we sort for years has finally become a reality.

What did that teach? It thought one voice can never achieve anything. The more people you have in your circle pushing for the same agenda, the more likely it's going to become a reality. That is something north learned and worked on hence when MB where showing signs of breaking off from the "united north", they worked deliberately to appease them and bring them back in the fold.

We needed eachother to survive in that country and I laugh that both regions, SS and SE, allowed others to create a rift between eachother and continue pushing that rift till well this election cleared una eyes.
You allowed others to constantly narrate to you how both of una "hated" eachother, don't have the best interest for eachother, and trying to steal from eachother yet you all have lived next to eachother for centuries with barely any conflict, intermarried with eachother till the point many of your cultures are mixed yet you allowed outsiders to tell you about your own neighbors? Smh!!!.
Funny enough those same neighbors have no regards for una. They claim to save SS oil from the greedy SE Igbos yet ironically every oil plots in SS is not owned by a SS and likewise the same for SE except maybe 3 or 4 igbos. They told you SE Igbos they love you more that your SS neighbors and even your SS igbo brothers yet they kill you and even spread fiticious rumors about you in order to damage una names.
I swear, I'm shocked it took both of una this long to actually realize you have no friends in that country and the way your ancestors lived was the RIGHT F2king way.

If we actually serious about this whole unity thing then una need to start from within ourselves.
SS ethnic groups needs to stop attacking and killing eachother over little things. SE need to stop with the state vs. State mess. You all f2king igbo for Godsake. You would think it's the Igala in Anambra and idoma in enugu that'll be getting you all discrimination due to their tribal differences but No, you all are attacking your own selves based solely on states. In my opinion, fixing SS and SE indigenous mentality is first thing to do in this "unity" if you all are truly serious of advancing both regions into one of the most developed in Africa. Both region have the potential, it just when do you ppl plan on unlocking it is the question right now.
Well said. Yea this election has opened many eyes to face the realities on ground. It's not late to start the integration now.

And yes I agree with eastern governors and not SS n SE governors ish

How could SS be sold on 'Igbos want our oil' and they bought into it. Yet northerners 8000 miles away are holding on to the same oil since 1960. Yet made Nigeria ungovernable for SSner for four years
Who's deceiving who?
PoliticsRe: A Political Thread For "Old" Eastern Region (south East And South South) by Rose2014: 5:21pm On Apr 15, 2015
Obiagu1:
The best way to fully integrate the Eastern Region is to have a common master plan for development.
Ibaka seaport is crucial and centre to this; in fact it is the most important factor.
Relocation of oil companies headquarters back to the Region is very important too.

With Ibaka seaport and other smaller seaports and cargo ports/bays, our development will be in our own hands; we can dictate how we grow.

Plans are to be put in place to fully develop and utilized all our international airports. I don't need to fly back home from Abuja or Lagos.
One can easily travel by road to any Eastern town in 2/3 hours.

Politically, SE governors forum or her sister SS governors forum should be abolished. We should have Eastern governors forum instead.
Great suggestion

True that. Igbos need basically an environment to do their hustle..

Nevertheless, I hope all we want is achieved whether in Nigeria or Biafra. We want a country where everybody matters. A country where there is no minority or majority. A country where religion doesn't matter. A detribalized country not that where some group are singled out as tribalists while others are regarded as fighting a good course even when it's obvious they tow a tribal line. A country where there is no religious or ethnic violence. A country where no one state or tribe is regarded as hosting another state or tribe. A country where one is free and safe living far away from home. And so much more.
Same here o
I want a country where state of origin is just for formality sake

I feel the pain of people from these areas - because it genuinely seems as if they were being ganged up against this election.

Rather than take the matter personally, there is need to address the specific issues which led to Jonathan being voted out of power. His lack of control over his cabinet and blatant ineptitude.

Buhari is not the solution anybody wanted - but Nigerians rallied round and voted for change!

Times are changing and in the face of global economic development Nigerians refuse to continue suffering and smiling! Which is the sentiment those from the SS and SE continue to have.

It is not 'your turn' to govern for the sake of governing, it is 'your turn' to ensure that your interests are expressed and you are catered for as part of Nigeria!

I will say you should stop this ethnic and tribal nonsense that has brought about the likes of NGO, Madueke and Jonathan, and start demonstrating that you have the capability to lead from the front with competent Nigerians with the countries interests at heart.

Jonathan had the opportunity to do soo much for you and he didn't, why did you continue to support him?
What has the presidents before Jonathan done for Nigeria? Please enlighten me. What Nigeria (including Buhari)failed to achieve since 1960, they wanted uncle Jo to achieve in four years. And they acted their words by making Nigeria ungovernable for him

Jonathan was voted out for obvious reason. All of a sudden, all of you are clamoring for a united Nigeria. Nonsense

There are numerous posts made by this Barcanista fellow in the past where he said his people want nothing to do with the SE; so where is all the fake love coming from all of a sudden?

Something makes u rethink atimes. This election is a big eye opener for lots of easterners walahi. How long are we going to remain like this. I don't see the north handing over power anytime soon yet SS will be crying 'igbos want our oil'? What does the Hausas want? Water?

If we don't have equal opportunities at national level, then what is ONE about NIGERIA? It's only the wise that will reason pass "it's our oil" and fight for proper development of the masses. I must also say that our leaders are not helping matter. When given an opportunity to make the best out of their state, they embezzle the money.

One major problem we are going to have even if Nigeria splits is leadership. We must start from now to hold our leaders responsible for their failures and avoid sentiments like he's our son, therefore let's free him. I said this because the SS is filled with various tribes and it will be by the grace of the almighty that we will be able to overlook sentiments.
Yes leadership is the main reason I keep emphasizing on a well drafted constitution.
Left for me personally, SS can always produce the president of a united eastern region. Afterall the northerners have been president of Nigeria all these years and what has easterner gained from it? And believe or not, northerners are not going to let go of that power without bloodshed. Imagine how they formed BH to destabilize a president that come from an oil producing region(of all places) and yet feasting on their oil

Igbos can leave the president for SS to produce(for all I care). Let Igbos have a conducive business environment. The two regions have what it takes to compete with every other country in the world

I supported GEJ not because he had oil, not because he was SS, not because he was a Christian but because I saw no good in the gang up of APC in their desperate attempt to take over by force. No good done by GEJ was good enough but any evil done by APC was either shoved aside with the senseless logic "PDP did it in the past" or regarded as irrelevant.

I love Nigeria but I will love a better Nigeria where a minority can rule and be placed at the same level as a majority. A country where a majority was allowed to rule 8 years with one of the worst leadership the world has ever seen wouldn't allow an Ijaw minority rule 8 years even though his leadership was better than that of the majority who has been ruling us since independence.

With all these and all that happened back then, the Igbos emerged to fight for this region. A region that fed Nigeria but was also relegated in leadership but yet someone is here screaming "leave our oil". It's so shameful of that guy. I just hope that I was actually discussing with someone above at least, 17 years of age.
Most of the guys shouting 'leave our oil' on this thread are not from SS o

They're just deliberately being mischievous to cause division here
No SSner will be happy the way their oil is being taken to the north and rubbing in their faces. The north has ruled Nigeria for so many years yet they couldn't allow Jonathan to do his own 8years like other presidents(despite their loopholes) have done. Imagine throwing jona out just to retain power n keep sharing oil blocs that belong to SS

So forget the 'leave our oil' crew. They're northerners trying to cause division on this thread.

I tell you. The Igbos live and die in business. Had it not been for the entrepreneurial mind God gave the Igbos, I bet you that we would have wasted in this country long time ago..

Sometimes it takes a tortured mind to develop an entrepreneurial spirit. A country with millions of jobs will leave people jumping from one job to another. But a country with problem of unemployment will have hundreds of thousands of youths thinking of how to set up their business empires.

There are several countries without oil but they are surviving..
No offense intended but Nigerians will begging for visa to travel to any country formed unitedly by easterners.

If you look at the Igbos in Nigeria, they re not even surviving on Nigeria oil yet successful in their businesses.

If such merger ever happens, SS can keep their oil but let Igbos a have conducive business environment. And watch that region turn to Dubai in a few years

Unfortunately, the beneficiaries of Naija oil at the top will do everything to ensure easterners remain divided into SS SE EE and ES just to make sure they never think of such merger.
While they continue to milk SS oil dry

Some places in SS are unbelievably undeveloped despite the oil they supply to Nigeria and it's very very unfortunate. Personally, it makes me sad

You are trying to enforce one party system. No way.

The Old Eastern bloc should be ready to give Nigerians a credible opposition that will make the Government at the centre responsible to all its citizens.

Those that were against GEJ including their media outfit will now change from their so-called social crusading to fanatics hence the two opposing camps should never merge.

The South-west championed the ridiculous hate campaign filled with diatribes and falsehood with the North denying every gesture of Mr President notwithstanding massive concentration of investments in their regions.

The only prayer you got to offer here is that their unity should be solely for political and mutual benefits as were the case of Southwest and Northern Nigeria.

The zone should be encouraged to build on the existing South-south/South-East economic master plan to develop the region to enviable modern day livable cities where citizens are served.

Despite the fact that Jonathan did everything possible to please the northerners, they still wanted him out at all cost.
