Well firstly, it's an awkward situation . That said, I believe you should know your parents; for you to have dated for 5 years, you probably aren't less than 25yrs, to have spent 25 SOLID years with your folks, you should know what they like and dislike. Why bother toasting a girl you know your parents will disprove of, I don't get it....

I can imagine her pain, to a Nigerian mother, a single adult girl is like a curse, hopefully with time that mindset will fade away.
I would advise you to work hard and earn enough cash, as money can reduce pain. Pamper her alot with money, that can be a distraction.
Also what efforts are you making to settle down, if you intend to marry, you can consciously take concrete efforts to find someone, make yourself more appealing.
