Iamblessed007: You are right. Infact, if i suggest that to my mama, she will reject it...lol.....I know she's definitely gonna see fellow Nigerians coming to canada on her day of travelling. KLM flight would have been very good to calgary but with the whole compulsory Covid-19 test issue in Amsterdam and PR people having to wait for almost 12 hrs to get the result before they can even hop on the flight to Calgary, i wonder what they will subject people who are just mere visitors, let alone the stress for an old woman travelling for the first time. Another thing is you can pay for airport concierge service for her. I did this for my mom...and there was someone already waiting for her at the airport, who was with her through customs and all... it also includes airport private lounge services. This is more expensive than requesting for wheelchair assistance, though. |

tizah2020: Good afternoon my people
I am currently waiting for PPR, AOR Jan 2021 but I have decided to go for my masters while I wait.
My question is does Canada value Uk admission more than us? Because for the us, if I start my change in status to student now , it takes app 5 months before i can now proceed to the 2year mba program ? Won’t I have gotten ppr before all this ends like this? No one can tell you how soon you'll get your PR. The most important thing is that "don't stop living your life". The pandemic has made it even more unpredictable Look at your situation as it is today and make the best decision on the existing variables |

funmihero: Hi all,
*I need help with securing an apartment in Winnipeg for a family of 4, a 2-bedroom is ok. We are arriving on the 5th. Any assistance will be appreciated.*
Thank you all. Why don't you get an airbnb for one or two week(s)? You can start searching before you land, but wait to land before concluding and signing your lease. |

Shokoloko: I quoted in the request that I was happy to pay. I am actually more comfortable paying double of what an airbnb would charge for him to stay with a Nigerian for that first week. I never stated that it was free
Thanks anyways. I will try to look for an airbnb for him. Honestly, getting someone to accommodate a total stranger isn't easy, especially with Covid again. Anyways, I can pick him up from the airport to the airbnb. I know it can be lonely not knowing anyone in a new country. |

Iamblessed007: Thanks. My mum is coming to help out as she is about to give birth and many people add all that to support their application. She is not getting paid for helping her son, so it is not a work visa. At least my female friend also submitted it when she applied for visit visa for her mum. Infact, she added the ultrasound scan too. Only difference is that she didn't send any email to prioritize her application because she applied for her mum before covid.
thanks all the same. You don't know the context your female friend presented her case to the visa officer. If she told the visa officer that the pregnancy is difficult and that she needs her mom's emotional support so that she doesn't fall into depression and you told the visa officer that your mother is coming to help take care of the baby. These two statement mean different things for visa application. Now, it also depends on the officer that handles your application. Anyways, the most important documents, which is your PR card and the proof of relationship for yourself and your mom, were not attached to your letter and thus, you did not prove that you meet the exemption requirements. You can reply and attach the relevant documents. |

megastu: I do not think your mother qualifies as a member of immediate family relation as per their definition (spouse and dependent children), also pregnancy does not fall into the category of non-discretionary cases as per their definition. Mother actually falls under immediate family member. I applied for my mom during Covid-19 and her visa was granted. She visited and she is back home now. |

Iamblessed007: Hello house,
Please i need your help, I applied for a visiting visa for my mum and sent that email for the application priority, and also attached the proof of relationship which are my international passport, my mum birth certificate, her change of name docs, invitation letter and the doctor's letter for my pregnant wife.
I received this email from IRCC "Based on our assessment of your recent enquiry, we cannot process your request as you have not provided sufficient evidence that you meet an exemption criterion and/or that your travel to Canada is non-discretionary, per the travel restrictions implemented to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID‑19) in Canada. Even though you do not meet an exemption criterion and/or your travel has not been deemed non-discretionary, your application will now be put on hold until after the travel restriction pause has been lifted"
Please could it be because i didn't attach my PR card and my birth certificate. If yes, can any one suggest the docs they used for their proof of relationship. Thanks Why did you include a doctor's letter for your pregnant wife? You basically told them your mom is coming to work on a visit visa. And yes... your PR card and your birth certificate are the most important documents (PR card to prove your status in Canada and your birth certificate to prove the relationship between yourself and your mother) |

The tax season is here. CRA doesn't joke o.
Out tax returns should be filed by April 30th.
For those with self-employed income, you have till June 15th to file... HOWEVER, you must pay all taxes owing by April 30th.
There are a variety of tax software that can be used to file our taxes. Some of us may be eligible to file with a tax clinic.
And for those who needs help to file their taxes, both Personal and Corporate... ( we all can't use Netfile or Tax Clinic), holler at your girl |

seunpinky: Good day All,
I recently got PPR (family of 3). I am in a dilemma and I would appreciate your opinions as to which option to go with. My wife works with one of the Big 4s and she needs to give them 3months notice b4 resignation.
Option 1: I land alone, try to settle into the country and make adequate provisions for her and the kid. With this plan, wife and kid would come after her 3months notice period. However, someone told me that if I come alone, immigration may not allow them entry because I am the PA and that the PA is expected to travel with them.
Option 2: She applies for leave from work and We all come together but she and d kid do softlanding. They return back to Nigeria after spending one month and she drops her resignation letter and wait out the 3 months notice period. My issue with the second option is that we would have to spend money on flight twice..
Pls house I need your opinions
@ednut1, @lasignor @19cannymum As far as I know, Option One is the best as long as their COPR is still valid at the time your wife and child is landing. You do not need to be with them when they land. It would have been an issue if she was the primary applicant and you were landing first. However, in your situation; you are the primary applicant and you're landing first. |

toboy: for someone who has been working from home for more than half of the year, would you know how much returns they could get? I need to start paying really close attention to the taxes. All this while, I'd use a filing agency which I feel like it kinda limit you knowing the ins and out of the whole thing. Normally, before you're able to claim WFH expense, there were some conditions to be met. What this temporary provisions is saying is that without meeting those preset conditions (like a signed T2200), you can claim WFH expenses up to a maximum of 400 dollars. However, if you feel your WFH expenses are more than 400 dollars, you'll need to go through the normal route. So, nobody can really answer the questions you asked without looking at your specific situation |

clow: Please assist with enquiry So I just realised the Noc I chose is at management level 0124, is it possible I edit it even after I've received ITA to Noc 1123 (Marketing Specialist) 0124 is Marketing Manager But the thing is the JD under Noc 0124 is what I actually did while I was there You can change your NOC after ITA. The NOC i used when I got ITA isn't the NOC I used to submit my application. You'll need to include the reason you changed your NOC in your LOE to the visa officer. Be compelling and prove you know what you're talking about and that the newer NOC is a better fit for you. The most important thing is to match your duties with the NOC of your choice. Look at the duties carefully, the lead statement must match 100% and then you must be doing 70 to 80% of the listed duties |

Happy New Month!! I would need your advise regarding my parent's application. I applied and submitted on their behalf precisely 28th February 2020, Biometrics was done 3rd March, 2020 and updated same day i believe. We haven't heard from the processing office. Can i still update the reason for their invitation because it was initially for a family visit since they haven't seen us and their grandkids in over a year of becoming PR's. I would appreciate your feedback. Thank you. Send an email to this address: IRCC.COVID-TravelExemptions-Exemptionsdevoyage-COVID.IRCC@cic.gc.ca The mail is for those who: 1. Need to request a written authorization from the Government of Canada to reunite with an immediate family member (who is residing in Canada and who is NOT a Canadian Citizen/Permanent Resident) for an essential (non-discretionary) purpose; or 2. Want to tell us they are exempt from the travel restrictions AND their TRV (visitor visa) application received before April 9 is still in progress AND they are travelling to Canada for an essential (non-discretionary) purpose. I hope you packaged your initial application well. |

Colourisblack: Dear Family
Please can someone assist me with my query.
I am a British born citizen and permanently reside in the UK, I will be getting married in January 2021 to my fiance who lives in Nigeria (he was born in Nigeria).
Our intentions are to apply for PR and move to Canada permanently. I have family that live there also.
My main concern or worry is the fact that we live in two different countries which will be apparent on application and wouldn't want this to hinder the outcome, just incase the marriage is considered to be sham?
Is there anything I should do differently or mention in the application?
Please advise, many thanks. Put yourself in the shoes of the Visa Officer and ask yourself what documents would need to be presented to prove your relationship? There's no fast and hard rule about this... You just need to prove your relationship beyond reasonable doubt. How have you guys maintained your relationship across two continents? That's what the Visa officer will like to see. |

She’s not a scammer at least she has not run away with my money, but she’s extremely deceitful. Making you think she is giving good deal and cheating you in the process. I don’t want to say too much now but I will be back to complete this review. This is quite misleading you know. How do you know she's misleading you? Did you get your product and it wasn't what you expected? After badmouthing her, you now say "you don't want to say too much"... after you've said everything. How can you say someone is "extremely deceitful" when you've not completed your transactions? Thank God you said she didn't run away with your money; so how did she deceive you or how did she mislead you? No business owner will pray for a customer like you. I'm sure you're not a model customer yourself. You just want to spoil her market... God no go allow you! Who knows...maybe you're a competitor trying to spoil her market. Oshi ati Iranu! |

oludolao: Thank you so much for this. I am seriously considering Calgary now, the schools I am interested in are on the southwest side. Can you tell me about good and walkable communities in this area. Thanks. Calgary is quite spreadout, you know. If you let us know the school you're interested in, then one can give you suggestions. Saying SW is quite broad! You will need to be more specific. Anyways, one community I like in SW is WestSpring. A lot of shopping in the area, St. Joan of Arc (K-9) in the area and the closest train station is 69th street... a good bus network from there to West Spring. Other communities close by are Cougar Ridge and Aspen Woods..I think there's an elementary school K-6 in Aspen Woods. |

oludolao: Thank you so kuch for a detailed explanation. Based on your questions, we are a family of 4 with need for junior high and elementary schools. I want somewhere quiet but also where I don't want to rely on my car all the time, so somewhere within walking distance of shops and schools etc.
With regards to jobs, I have experience in HR/ Admin , Operations and Clients relationship management. So I definitely need a job. Based on the feelers I have put out, I can see that there are openings in both cities.
Thanks. . Communities like Arbour Lake in NW Calgary may fit in well for you... there's an elementary/junior high school (St. Ambrose Elementary/Junior High Schl) in the community, a train station (crowfoot), shopping centre,library... all at a walking distance. So, if you wish not to take your vehicle, you can walk to the train station or take a bus to the train station. Your children can also walk to school or ride their bicycles if you live in Arbour Lake. Other communities in close proximity are Scenic acres, Citadel, Ranchland |

Are their interests better than the ones in Naija? Is there any twist to them? Which investments are you doing currently? There are Investment opportunities. Aside Mutual funds, we also have segregated funds, TFSAs etc. The interest rates are more than what you get in a normal savings account. Most people go for Real Estate... cos mortgage interest rates are so reasonable. But if you don't have money for down payment... you may do more of mutual funds, stocks, set funds, RRSPs etc. |

Prettiepearlz: The help center on the CIC website says otherwise. Please find below screenshot. You are right about the CEClass but it also says other applicants are required to proof settlements fund unless they are currently authorized to work in Canada and have a valid job offer from an employer in Canada. Also because the system currently requires all applicants to provide proof of funds, applicants who do not need proof of funds must upload a letter of explanation that they have either been invited under the CEC or that you have a valid job offer. That’s how I read that. Please explain if I am reading it wrongly.
Cc: Tendertots IRCC emphasizes "and" It means to avoid showing proof of funds, you must be authorized to work in Canada AND (not OR) have a valid job... If you do not have a valid Canadian work permit (which makes you authorized to work in Canada); even if you have a job offer; you'll still need to show POF. |

gretop: AOR was Feb 11, 2019 I'm sure exchange rate is the culprit. What exchange rate did you use for the POF? Make sure that the additional funds you're submitting is dated. (I mean like 6months old or 3 months old) just to show that it's not a new funds that you just acquired. Raise CSE and pray. Miracles do happen. |

gretop: Dear Experts,
I need your advise. I got a refusal letter on my application today which does not add up. The denial ground was that I did not have sufficient proof of funds but I do have funds to the total of CAD20990 with stanbic mutual funds. The minimum requirement for my family size is CAD19390. My mutual funds states categorically that I have full access to it and can liquidate it in partial or fully. The last GCMS notes I requested that I got last week did not state anything about issues with POF. It only said it requires further review. I don't even know what to do at this moment. I need advise please. I still have additional funds in my other accounts but did not bother to raise a CSE cause I thought i had passed the minimum POF. Is there an email I can contact or some phone number to reach to state my case and show that I have enough funds?
Waiting your advice on next steps or even a way forward Raise a CSE and plead your application be reopened. Maybe the exchange rate used affected the final figure. 20990 is quite close to 19390 Update your POF with the additional dated funds that you have. Do whatever you have to do before your RPRF is processed and refunded. When is your AOR? I'm so sorry this happened to you. |
