Programming / Nigerian Students Software Competition (nisscom) by rotimikehinde(m): 9:53am On Feb 16, 2007 |
NISSCOM PRESS RELEASE 15TH FEBRUARY 2007 The SystemSpecs sponsored Nigerian Students Software Competition (NISSCOM), organized for all students in tertiary institutions in Nigeria, will have one student carry the trophy for best software with two runners up this month. The competition is slated for Thursday, February 22, 2007 at the Nnamdi Azikwe University School Auditorium, Awka, Anambra State. By introducing creative and financial support to the process of software development for students, SystemSpecs is developing innovative ways to use her resources to promote national technology orientation. Martins Madueke, President of the National Association of Computer Science Students (NACOSS), recently had a strategy meeting with the Brand & Marketing Unit of SystemSpecs. During the meeting, he observed that this year’s competition will showcase a new generation of creative thinking among the Nigerian youth. Submission of software entries were declared open on the 21st of September, 2006, and closed on the 31st of January, 2007 with 20 finalists emerging as possible winners from a total of 204 entries. Out of the 20 finalists, one person will be declared winner of NISSCOM 2006. It is remarkable that this competition will for the first time have a female finalist, Fatima Gimba of Ahmadu Bello University, who says that she is delighted to be part of the twenty finalists as she has always put in a lot of time and efforts into the software competition. Sixteen institutions are represented in this edition of NISSCOM and three of the finalists are from private universities. Once again, SystemSpecs will uphold a proud legacy of Corporate Social Responsibility across the educational terrain of Nigeria with cash prices of N100 000, N75 000 and N50 000 for first, second and third place respectively plus an exclusive 3 months internship in SystemSpecs for the three emerging software guru’s. This is for all programmers and developers in the Nigerian webspace. What say ye? Registration is FREE and all you need is a little interest in java to be part of this 'land-mark' event.

For a start nice concept..... However Ill recommend you go and learn a little about Flash Preloaders..... Thats a hard lesson i learnt after adding some heavy flash works to a clients' site and it took sooo long to load that I was embarrassed myself when showcasing it. NOte that people browse from different places and most (in Nigeria) from CyberCafes so design flash sites having them in mind. You can also tweak your background soundtracks without compromising quality. Great work. Dont like the buttons though. I prefer to create mine using Fireworks. Ciao. thekultureman chek out http://www.ipnxnigeria.net (made this in 2004) |

I really think its worth mentioning that ipNX Nigeria has UPGRADED their Web hosting offerings: On both windows and Linux boxes: 2000MB - 4000MB starting from 18,000NAIRA(Linux) Now thats some space and Webmasters can actually host multiple sites using Domain name forwarding. Aint that just cool? Also theres a new Visioneer on the block: http://www.thinkcube.org Well thats my babeeee!!!! From 20MB - 1000MB....check it out!!!!!!!!! Very affordable. so I brand, design (with php and mySql support), and host, Very fast tooooo. let me showcase two sites I designed all hosted on thinkcube's hosting facility. http://www.godkulture.org/ http://www.footballdevelopmentfoundation.org/ kultureman.com is coming soon too. Cheers people thekultureman |
