Politics / Fresh Attack In Plateau State Leaves Five People Dead- Graphic Photos by Rotjijatau(m): 9:00pm On Aug 31, 2015 |
Amidst the outcry and protests, the attacks being perpetuated by Boko Haram’s killer squad and Fulani marauders appears to still be continuing with no end in sight. In the latest such attacks – 5 people were gruesomely murdered in Gashish village today Monday 31st August. The five individuals were shot at close range using semi automatic rifles and then their heads were smashed up, with heavy weapons and tools – completely destroying their faces. This is the second attack which has occurred in the last two days. Yesterday, Jol village (which has been attacked over 30 times in the past), came under severe siege by this special killer squad of Boko Haram (who appear to be working under the instructions of Fulani marauders). They laid siege at Jol village for over 2 hours, killing several people and wounding scores. At the time of filling this result, the governor of Plateau State Hon. Simon Lalong was still addressing the villagers. Source: Www.viewpointnigeria.com

Politics / Buhari To Personally Probe The Sale Of NITEL by Rotjijatau(m): 9:29pm On Aug 18, 2015 |
President Muhammadu Buhari has mandated the ministry of communication to provide details of the recent privatisation of the Nigerian Telecommunications (NITEL) and its mobile arm, MTEL, to ascertain whether or not Nigeria was short-changed. Speaking to journalists Tuesday after briefing the president on the activities of the ministry of communications, permanent secretary Tunji Olaopa said the president requested that a memo detailing how the transaction was processed be submitted directly to him. He said Mr. Buhari was concerned about the possibility of Nigeria not receiving a fair value from the deal. “The president was also concerned about the liquidation of NITEL. He is not opposed to its privatization but he wants to know… and he wants us to bring a memo on how the whole transaction was undertaken so that he would know whether Nigeria was short-changed,” he said. Mr. Olaopa said the president was very concerned about the whole issue of privatization that is hindering investments in ICT and said “that he will personally champion this”. “The president talked about the potentials of the ICT sector in generating employment,” Mr. Olaopa said. He said Mr. Buhari was also concerned about the quality of service from telecom operators in the country. The privatisation of the NITEL and MTEL was completed in December 2014 after the financial bid was opened in October 2014 by the Goodluck Jonathan administration. A consortium run by Skye Bank’s chairman, Tunde Ayeni, the founder of Sahara Energy, Tonye Cole, and two other companies, received the nod from the Nigerian government to take over the two companies for $242.3 million (about N42.4 billion). Their investment vehicle, NATCOM Telecommunications, emerged the sole bidder for the Nigerian Telecommunications Limited, NITEL and Mtel. NATCOM has as members NATSPACE Telecommunication Investment Limited, PCCW Global Limited, Prime Union Investment Limited, Olutoyi Estate Development & Services Limited, Legal Resources Alliance & Co., Sahara Energy Resources Limited, and LM Ericsson Nigeria Limited. Of the seven firms, Mr. Ayeni, profiled as a businessman and lawyer on Skye Bank’s website, owns three. He is the founder and operator of Prime Union Investment Limited, Olutoyi Estate Development & Services Limited, and Legal Resources Alliance & Co. There were suggestions that he has link with NATSPACE, but PREMIUM TIMES could not independently verify that claim. In December 2014, Mr. Ayeni led NATCOM in its acquisition of NITEL/MTEL less than two months after he also led Skye Bank to buy Mainstreet Bank from Assets Management Company of Nigeria, for N120 billion. In 2013, Mr. Ayeni was the chief promoter of Integrated Energy Distribution and Marketing Company Limited, a group that eventually bought the Ibadan and Yola electricity Distribution Companies, DISCOs. Mr. Cole is the owner of Sahara Energy, while LM Ericsson is a subsidiary of Swedish group, Ericsson. NATCOM, which merges the seven firms, appears to be a new corporate entity created solely for the purchase of NITEL/ MTEL. Very little is known about the consortium. NATCOM emerged winner after NETTAG Consortium, another little known group, was disqualified for failing to attach a $10million bid bond to its bid submission as stipulated in the Request for Proposals (RFP) to prospective bidders. History of failed sales Before the acquisition, four previous attempts to sell NITEL failed. Nigeria started the process of privatising the national telecom groups in 2000 as part of the government’s reform of the telecommunications sector. In 2001, the government tried to sell 51 per cent equity to Investors International London Limited (IILL) as the strategic core investor. There was also the failed management contract by Pentascope in 2005, the aborted Orascom Telecoms bid in 2005, and the strategic core investor sale through negotiated sale strategy to Transcorp that was cancelled in 2009. The last effort was the strategic core investor sale in 2011, where New Generation Communications Limited and Omen International emerged preferred and reserved bidders respectively. Following the last failed attempt, former Vice President Namadi Sambo-led National Council on Privatisation, adopted the guided liquidation strategy for the sale of NITEL/ MTEL. Politics / Why We Are Yet To Release The Cause Of Helicopter Crash- Air Official by Rotjijatau(m): 2:28pm On Aug 16, 2015 |
The delay in the official release of the names contained in the manifest of the ill-fated helicopter that crashed into Lagos lagoon on Wednesday has been attributed to the need to get consent of the deceased families. A management source from the Bristow Helicopters Ltd, owners of the crashed helicopter, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on the condition of anonymity, on Saturday in Lagos, that the airline was still contacting the victims’ families. He said their client, SEDCO oil platform offshore, was still contacting the victims’ families and would approve the release of the victims’ names in few days. “We cannot release the victims’ names without the consent of our client, SEDCO Oil, which is still in regular contact with families of the victims,” he said. According to him, the withholding of the names was in accordance with International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) Annex 13. He said also the airline and the accident investigators lack the capacity to disclose the names on the manifest. The source, however, called on the public to exercise patience with the airline and appropriate authorities in releasing the manifest. “Even though we have submitted the manifest to the Accident Investigation Bureau (AIB), we will still have to give them the matching order to release it with the consent of the victims’ families. “You and I know that Bristow would have been ordered to release the manifest because of the investigation the bureau is carrying out and it is something they ought to have because of the nature of their job they are doing at the moment,” he said. Felix Abali, the AIB Commissioner, had said on Friday that the bureau did not have the power to make the victims’ names public until the airline contacted the victims’ families. Mr. Abali said he was in touch with the airline and would make the names public immediately he received the nod from the airline. He said aviation protocol must be observed before the manifest would be released. “The families must be briefed first. It is the responsibility of the airlines to release the manifest, they have to contact the families first before they release it to the public,” he said. The Sikosky 76 helicopter marked 5N-BGD crashed into the Lagos lagoon as it approached Murtala Muhammed Airport, in Ikeja. Six of the 12 passengers on board in the helicopter died while six others were rescued and taken to hospital. Source: Www.premiumtimesng.com 1 Share

Politics / How I Cheated & Defeated Death 12 Times- Obasanjo by Rotjijatau(m): 8:51pm On Aug 15, 2015 |
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has given insight into how he has so far escaped death by the whiskers at least a dozen times in his 78-year stay on earth. In his latest three-volume autobiography, “My Watch”, Mr. Obasanjo wrote about how he survived infant mortality that consumed all but one of his siblings, how local herbs and concoction helped kept him alive after a life-threatening scorpion bite, and how he almost perished in the Ogun River while learning to swim. The former president, who recently spoke to PREMIUM TIMES about the book , also narrated how he escaped unhurt in several auto crashes, and how he survived a plot by suspected assassins to kill him at the University of Ibadan. Mr. Obasanjo narrated, “Being one of two of my mother’s surviving children (out of seven), I must have had the grace of God to cross the hurdle of infant mortality. The other five never lived up to age one. The vicissitudes of rural life and limited resources did not guarantee survival for children born in my time and in the place I was born. Growing up in the village I was bitten by a scorpion once, and I survived it. The local herb and concoction applied by the native doctor worked in my case. I heard later that it did not work in some other cases. “When I was in primary school in Abeokuta, I went to the Ogun River to try to swim. My friend and classmate who went with me urged me to dive with him into the water; I asked him to go in first and I would follow. He dived in and hit his head against a rock, and he never survived. My mother pulled my ear and warned me never to go to the river for swimming again. That marked the end of my attempt to learn swimming. “When I was attached to the Welsh Guards in Pirbright, I had an accident while learning to drive. It could have been fatal for me and and for the oncoming motorcyclist, but we both survived. On returning to Nigeria, I had another accident in which the military vehicle I was driving without proper authority was a write-off. I survived with a fractured hand. As a young officer on a UN Peacekeeping Mission in the Congo Leopoldville, now Democratic Republic of Congo, I had an encounter with Congolese soldiers that could have been fatal. “I returned home from the Congo and was posted to the Nigerian Army Engineers, where I had to learn to ride a motorcycle for reconnaissance purposes. I took a motorcycle ride out alone on training and had a nasty accident where, again, the motorcycle was damaged beyond repair, and I was saved by wearing a steel helmet. The story of my escaping death by the skin of my teeth during the civil war when four of my bodyguards died on the spot has been told elsewhere. “When I left public office as a military head of state, I was appointed Distinguished Fellow of the University of Ibadan in the Institute of African Studies. I was given a house to stay in when I had work in the university. On one occasion, I was to give a lecture and to spend the night there; but curiously, I decided to inspect the whole building and the compound. I found, to everybody’s surprise, a neat hole cut through the glass window; and on the mosquito wire netting on the window was a hole close to the head of the bead, just big enough to accommodate the muzzle of a pistol. I never slept in that house again. The whole university community, and Professor Tekena Tamuno as the vice-chancellor, was alarmed. “On my way from Abeokuta to Ogbomosho to attend the graduation ceremony of pastor Bolarinwa, who I sponsored to Baptist Theological Seminary, I was waylaid by armed robbers. They cut in front of my car to stop it, got out and shot into the air, and entered their car and drove off. Calmly, I got out of the car with my driver and other passengers. I came to understand that if they had known that I had been the one in the car, they would not have zeroed in on that car, or they would have killed me to avoid getting arrested. I also understood that the police followed them to a logical conclusion. In addition, I have heard all sorts of fetish stories about how people tried or were trying to kill me and how I escaped through supernatural powers. I neither believe in nor practice anything fetish. “My greatest escape from untimely death was brought about through the machinations and snares of Abacha. Even that was God’s doing.” Mr. Obasanjo said because of his several close shaves with death, people built a myth around him, circulating tales that he was more than an ordinary human being. “Once, a writer described me as a man with seven lives,” the former President said. “That is, of course, an exaggeration; there is no man with more than one life. But when you have almost miraculously escaped death on a number of occasions, superstitions and myths are built around you. One might even be credited with powers that do not belong to one. For instance, being called ‘ebora’, which means spirit.” Saying he does not believe or indulge in fetish practices, Mr. Obasanjo said he had remained alive till now simply because of God’s consistence generosity to him, a debt he said he would continue to pay by “thanking and worshipping God while placing myself unreservedly in the service of humanity and God”. “In my opinion, to whom much is given, much must be expected. God has done so much to preserve my life and protect me,” the former President said. “He has done so much to pave my way and crown my efforts with success. Bishop Hassan Kukah put it this way: “God has singled you out and has been overgenerous to you.” I agree with him. And I have nothing o do excerpt to keep thanking and worshipping God while placing myself unreservedly in the service of humanity and God, continuously on the watch. It is leadership and responsibility.” Www.premiumtimesng.com

Politics / I'm Ready For Probe, Former Governor Of Plateau Sate by Rotjijatau(m): 7:47pm On Aug 15, 2015 |
The immediate past Governor of Plateau state, Jonah Jang, has said the allegation that he left the state’s treasury empty is false. Mr. Jang’s successor, Governor Simon Lalong, had set up a transition committee to review the financial situation of the state. The administration subsequently accused Mr. Jang of having looted state funds and emptying the treasury. Mr. Jang said Saturday this is a lie and accused the committee and Mr. Lalong of vendetta. “The committees have shown that they were deliberately selected and made up of persons that have grudges with the immediate past administration,” Mr. Jang said. “For example, Mr. Emmanuel Agati, Mr Shem Damisa, Mr. Nuhu Madaki, were sent to the Ministry of Finance. “Similarly, Prof. John Wade to the College of Education Gindiri, and Plateau State University Bokkos (now Solomon Lar University) and Mr. Joseph Ari to PRTVC. Ridiculously, Mr. Victor Dawurung, a serving staff of the Plateau State Polytechnic was assigned to probe his boss. Which type of report do you expect?” Mr. Jang said. Mr. Jang was reacting to the 14- day ultimatum given him by Governor Lalong to return public funds misappropriated during his tenure or face probe. He spoke on Friday through his former Commissioner for Justice, Olivia Dzayem, in a press statement made available to PREMIUM TIMES in Jos. Mr. Jang insisted that his administration left the state with N103 billion debts, and not N222.3 billion as stated by the committee. According to the former governor, “Lalong should have set up a more specialized technical or audit committees to conduct further investigation. This therefore means that the report is at its best a draft that lacks the relevant technical and professional inputs. How can such a draft report be implemented?” The former governor denied that his administration embezzled the state’s funds and insisted that monies generated during his administration were judiciously managed on landmark projects. Mr. Jang said the committee was set up to tarnish his image before the entire world. “With its clear distortions and manipulation of facts, aimed at personal vendetta, witch- hunt and smearing the good name and achievements of the out gone PDP Government led by Dr. Jonah David Jang,” Mr. Jang said. He denied allegations that his administration executed lopsided projects that favoured only his kins. Earlier, the Special Assistant to Mr. Jang on media, Pam Ayuba, had told Journalists in Jos, that his boss was ready to face probe. Mr. Pam said the Lalong administration has nothing to offer, and was therefore desperately looking for public acceptance by discrediting projects executed by his boss. Politics / Prof. Attahiru Jega Appointed As Pro Chancellor Of Plateau State University by Rotjijatau(m): 7:26pm On Aug 15, 2015 |
Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau has appointed former Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Attahiru Jega, as Pro-Chancellor and Chairman, Governing Council of Plateau State University, Bokkos. This is contained in a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Rufus Bature, in Jos on Friday. The governor also announced the re-instatement of Danjuma Sheni as Vice Chancellor of the institution as requested by the National Universities Commission. Mr. Jega was appointed alongside six other council members. The re-instatement of Mr. Sheni as the substantive Vice Chancellor of the University was with immediate effect. According to the statement, ”The VC is to ensure proper re- positioning of the institution in line with international practices, and to liaise with NUC to fast-track accreditation of programmes and subsequent graduation of two sets of final year students.” The past administration of Governor Jonah Jang, in October 2014, suspended Mr. Sheni as Vice Chancellor. Mr. Jang’s administration also refused an order of the state high court for the re- instatement of Mr. Sheni and, instead, appointed Prof. Stephen Mallo as acting Vice Chancellor. This week, the National Universities Commission advised the Plateau governor to reinstate the sacked Vice Chancellor as a remedy to the crisis at the university. Source: Www.premiumtimesng.com

Politics / Reasons Why I Masturbate Alot, Told By A Friend During NYSC by Rotjijatau(m): 7:15pm On Aug 14, 2015 |
I met this lady
during my NYSC service. She Ma@$turbate A Lot And
Its Worrisome. She is cool, calm and reserved. She is
always indoor and act gently. With lots of stress and
persuasion, we dated, although she was a hard nut to
crack. She even agreed to date me reluctantly. Her
body language is always discouraging. But I still tagged
along. We both served in the same northern town. Her
lodge was very close to mine.
I went to her lodge on this faithful Saturday evening, I
heard some plates rumbling in the kitchen which
suggest she was busy in the kitchen. So I just went
directly to her room, I didnt knock as I thought she was
the one in the kitchen (She actually shared the same
kitchen with some guys on her apartment wing). Truth
be told, these guys dont cook. I hardly see any of them
in that kitchen. Its my lady I always see there. So i
assumed she was cooking. So I went straight into her
room to drop my laptop bag. Lo and Behold, she was in
the room staring at her phone.
She was playing a porn on her phone, while also
inserting an object into her private part. She quickly
rushed up and cover up. She felt embarrassed and
uneasy. I pretended as if nothing happened. I tried to
make her comfortable. I later brought up the issue and
asked why she denied me se.x and prefer to m@
$turbate. She opened up and told me she enjoys it
more than $ex. I was surprise to see all her $ex
objects. She really invested in $ex objects. She finally
allowed me do the (Close your eyes). Everything
changed since then, she still prefers to augment $ex
with object.
We had heated argument on it and she told me point
blank “I can’t do without masturbation and $ex object”.
I told her “But this is a problem you need to go for
sexual counseling or rehabilitation” She said “thats why
she never wanted to date any guy.” I asked, how she is
gonna cope with her husband, what if the husband
doesnt have a taste for sex objects. She said “Its
either I remain single I find a man that will take me as
I am”. Well, it was just NYSC, its just for 1 year after
which I dont know you again. Its not of my problem. I
started playing along.
But throughout my encounter with her. I noticed the
following:
1. She is always tired when home alone. She will just
m@$turbate. I tried to ensure she is not home alone.
But any opportunity she gets, she is doing her thing.
2. Anytime I make a move, she is not always in the
mood.
3. Always glue to her phone
4. her phone browser history was always pointing to
porn site.
5. When home alone, always Unclad (not with her
pants and under below always wet).
And many more signs.
Finally, I concluded she is Possessed. |
