Jobs/VacanciesTruth About Getting A Job Vs Starting A Business Nobody Ever Told You (detailed) by rowels(op): 3:08pm On Jan 04, 2018
Have you been job hunting but, haven’t found an ideal job that showcases your talents, education and interests? or Have you been thinking about starting your own business?
STARTING A BUSINESS

I have to warn you though, making the leap from employee to entrepreneur means changing not only your lifestyle, but also your mindset. Before spending time, money and energy starting a new business, you should ask yourself: Do I have what it takes to own a business or, am I better suited to being an employee?

they all have their advantages and disadvantages, and please know this ; what most people show you on social media is what they want you to see, during those difficult times, you will not see them on face book. its always wonderful to show people that you have the best job, the best team, or the best business in the whole universe, DON’T LET ANY BODY FOOL YOU.

Those wonderful and exciting things they show you is not always the case, in fact in most jobs and businesses, the bad times are more than the good times, most people that lose their jobs see it coming months before it happens, owners of businesses that close up see it coming months before it finally happens, but they will never tell you about it.

Having said that, i was once an employee before i started my own business, looking back, i don’t regret quitting my job and starting my own business to the point of having staff. it was not easy, but i can tell you it was worth it.
I was able to succeed because i followed strategies which am going to share with you here today. and i believe that anybody who follows the strategies and plans in starting their business will definitely succeed

The mistake most people make is jumping into a business because their friend is doing it and its moving well, or they attended a seminar, and the speakers turned their head with their motivational talks, without researching on the business to know the skills or money involved , they jump in , only to jump out when they see what it takes to start and run a successful business.
Before i give you the strategies that i have used in starting businesses which you can use in 2018 and succeed,
Here are questions according to Sharon Michaels that will help you determine if you are ready to start you own business or keep on hunting for jobs

Can you start and finish tasks independently?

Employee Mindset: The boss or manager gives you a task to be completed within a certain time period and you’re expected to complete the assigned task.
Business Owner Mindset: Business owners know how to, and even like to, work independently. They are willing to take full responsibility for creating and completing their own work schedules. To take this one step farther, if you are thinking about starting a home-based business, you must also consider that there will be times when you’ll be spending hours working alone, without the company and support of others.

Can you set and achieve short and long term goals?

Employee Mindset: As an employee, you are working to achieve someone else’s goals.
Business Owner Mindset: A business owner takes on the responsibility for planning, marketing and overseeing the success of their business. Running a successful business means taking the time to formulate and implement a well thought out business plan. You will need to write a concise mission statement, an innovative vision for your company, short and long-term financial goals and a feasible and effective plan of action.

Do you have the self-discipline and self-motivation to work for yourself?

Employee Mindset: A boss or manager sets and oversees your tasks and hours.
Business Owner Mindset: Successful entrepreneurs are masters of time management and multi-tasking. Self-discipline is a vital factor to growing a successful business. A business owner must be consistently self-directed and self-motivated to do those things that will keep his/her business moving forward. Self-discipline is about doing what you say you’re going to do when you say you’re going to do it.

Can you manage money wisely?

Employee Mindset: Someone else takes all the financial risks for building a successful and profitable business.
Business Owner Mindset: If you decide to start a business, how do you intend to finance your business? A key factor to starting a business is being prepared to handle the financial ups and downs of opening and growing a new business. Are you willing to take business classes, learn new money management skills and even hire professionals who can help handle your finances?

Do you know how to measure success?

Employee Mindset: Your boss sets the standard by which they measure and reward your successes – pay raises, awards, recognition, etc.
Business Owner Mindset: A successful business owner knows, almost instinctively, how to set his or her own internal and external “barometers of success.” As an entrepreneur you are responsible for setting your own standard of excellence. It is important, even before beginning your business, to be fully aware and understand your “barometers of success” and how you professionally measure success. Do you measure success by money earned, recognition received, etc.?

Are you comfortable creating your own paycheck?

Employee Mindset: Your employer is responsible for your paycheck, benefits and other job related expenses. You can plan on getting paid regularly.
Business Owners Mindset: Business owners are responsible for creating their own paycheck, retirement plan, taxes, insurance, vacation pay, etc. There will probably be times when you won’t receive a regular paycheck. Being your own boss means taking risks and living with the financial uncertainty that often comes with owning a business. Are you willing to take financial and professional risks? Are you willing to live with the stress that often accompanies an uncertain paycheck?

Do you know your professional worth?

Employee Mindset: An employer tells and shows you how much you are worth by the amount they are willing to pay you.
Business Owners Mindset: As an entrepreneur, you determine your own worth!

After answering these seven questions, what have you decided – are you going out job hunting or starting a business?

If you really want to start a business, then here are the strategies that will help you succeed

before you start, know the business you want to go into, ask questions, go to those already doing it, PLEASE do your research.
Even if you see that those doing it are successful, don’t jump into the conclusion that the business is automatically going to be successful, many people use money from another area to make their business appear successful, it does not mean the business is successful . the cash flow may be negative

try not to borrow money to start a business, start with the little you have , from my experience, the first few years , you will be doing a lot of experiment and gathering experiences , please don’t use borrowed money to do experiment .

Decide not to quit, you are going to encounter obstacles when you start newly, at times you will lose money , it’s called school of hard knocks, just know you will learn and graduate one day only if you persist, but your problem would be multiplied if you borrow money and the business encounters issues.

Don’t just set up business and employ people to run it while you answer CEO and manager . What are you managing , you have to learn how the business is done, learn the skills required in your business, be ready to work in every area of your business. i had this experience when i started biZmarrow technologies limited newly . At the end of a particular months, i paid salaries and the next day by 8:35 am, one of my trainers called and told me he won’t be coming to work again. I tried all i can to get him to come to the office that day to take his classes why i make arrangement for a replacement but it never worked. i had to move down to the office and took some of the classes.

Don’t entrust your marketing in the hands of marketers. In all that you will be , be the marketing manager because if anything happens to this department, you are gone

Jobs/VacanciesSkills You Need To Learn In 2018 To Succeed by rowels(op): 5:39am On Jan 03, 2018
We all need skills in the present day Nigeria

The economic meltdown and recession in Nigeria now has made Nigerians to start thinking of other sources of income apart from their paid employment . Nothing is stable any more, people are loosing their jobs in millions, salaries are been slashed, the value of naira is on the decrease that even if you still have the same amount of salary, you can’t buy much with it, after spending more on transportation due the high cost of fuel.

Many multi-level businesses and investments are coming up like MMM, but the truth is that they cannot make you rich in the long run. one day they will collapse and some people will get hurt.
No matter what the people bringing them will tell you ; be your own boss, work from home, bring more people and climb to become a manager. The fact remains that you will end up working for someone and helping him get richer
Want to do something cool in 2018 and become more successful? then read on
Just think about the most successful people in the world. Those who consistently succeed are those who are best at learning new skills.
Successful people make the commitment to dedicate their spare time in the pursuit of learning (instead of verging out in front of the television or moving into the latest multi level business in town ) And they stick to their promise of learning.

When you think about the things you do every day, you probably wouldn’t put learning new things on the list. Living busy and hectic lifestyles makes it difficult to think about learning new things and trying something new, but you could be really missing out both personally and professionally.

People learn new skills for a variety of reasons. Sometimes you need new skills for your job to keep up with technological advances or to take advantage of newly developed techniques. When you learn a new skill, it has benefits that go way beyond the actual skill learned.

Before we get to the skills, Here are some of the biggest benefits of learning new skills shocked shocked

You can grow as a person, develop your knowledge base and improve yourself for the better.

Learning something new gets us access to new and different opportunities and the chance to try new experiences that might be the best ones you have ever tried!

You could potentially earn more money in your work life from learning a new and appropriate skill or by developing one that links to the work you do. You’ll rejuvenate your working life and get so much more from it.

Developing a new skill will influence the way you do things day to day and they will make doing things quicker and easier, saving time, energy and stress.

Learning across our lives is essential for staying up to date in an ever-changing world, especially in this ICT and computer controlled world. If we stop learning things, we can stagnate and actually move backwards, especially in our professional lives.

Jobs/VacanciesWhy Most Nigerian Youths Will Remain Unemployed by rowels(op): 9:48am On Sep 25, 2017
Is youth skill acquisition or Skills-Based Education important? how does it affect the employment rate among Nigerian youths?

This article has important points that will help not just to get employed, but to be in high demand and choose the job you want

Education is increasingly recognized as the most valuable investment we can make in Nigerian youth . At the highest level, the goal of that education is to improve lives. But are we fulfilling our obligation to invest in education that achieves that goal?

Does school prepare Nigerian youths for the real world? The need for youth skill acquisition

Study hard and get good grades and you will find a high-paying job with great benefits……does this still hold waters?

children spend years in an antiquated educational system, studying subjects they will never use, preparing for a world that no longer exists.

Today, the most dangerous advice you can give a child is Go to school, get good grades and look for a safe secure job, That is old advice, and it’s bad advice.

It’s bad advice because if you want your child to have success in life, they can’t play by the old set of rules. It’s just too risky.

This forms a perfect tripod stand for some grave concerns:

(1) Does a good education or good grades always translate into good jobs for young school leavers?

(2) What is the definition of a “good job”?

(3) Is getting a “good job” always the ultimate guarantee for a life filled with riches & wealth?

Jobs/VacanciesThe Most Important Skills You Need To Acquire After Secondary School For Success by rowels(op): 2:26pm On Sep 18, 2017
Whether you are going to work or to the university after secondary school, new graduates need to acquire certain skills that will ensure their success in any environment in the 21st century . While Communication, Self-regulation, Problem solving knowledge are important, employers and educational administrators seek computer and ICT skills that are useful in the 21st century economy.

Thos that would want to start their own business also need computer and ICT skills; it is needed in building their business, making profit and growing into a big business

Computer literacy is considered a very important skill to possess for secondary school graduate in the 21st century. Employers want their workers to have basic computer skills because their company becomes ever more dependent on computers. Many employers try to use computers to help run their company faster and cheaper. Computers are just as common as pen and paper for writing and for many applications – especially communicating – computers are preferred over pen and paper because of their ability to duplicate and retain information and ease of editing.

Another common definition of computer literacy is the knowledge and skills required for basic use of computer hardware, software and the Internet. These critical computer and Internet skills are valued in today’s academic and professional environments. This leads to success in education and employment since computer skills are integral to all areas of study and work. The 3 R’s (reading, writing and arithmetic) should now also include the 3 C’s (communicating, calculating and computing) since the ability to use a computer is on the same level as reading and writing skills.

According to the Guardian, Conservative culture minister of Britain , Ed Vaizey once said that Computer skills are the grammar of the 21st century,

“We are all going to live a digital life,” he said. “Just as we write well and read well, I think that if you have even a basic understanding of computer coding, it will help you understand the structure of your digital life.”

In Nigeria today, it is becoming very difficult to get a good job even among graduates. Learning a computer skill is one thing that will give you an edge and help you get a good job or even start your own business whether online or offline

Which ICT and computer skills should you start with.

The most important Skills you need to acquire after secondary School for Success in 21st century

There are so many ICT and computer skills out there now, choosing and starting with the right one will determine how successful you can be

Jobs/VacanciesSecret Of Starting Your Own Successful Online Business by rowels(op): 9:32am On Sep 14, 2017
Do you want to have a successful online business? then learn DIGITAL MARKETING. It is an umbrella term for all of your online marketing efforts. Businesses leverage digital channels such as Google search, social media sites like facebook, twitter, email, and their websites to connect with their current and prospective customers.

WHY LEARN DIGITAL MARKETING

The reality is, people spend twice as much time online as they used to 12 years ago. And while we say it a lot, the way people shop and buy really has changed, meaning offline marketing isn’t as effective as it used to be.

When some one wants to buy any thing now, the first thing they do is to check online to know who has what they are looking for

Marketing has always been about connecting with your audience in the right place and at the right time. Today, that means that you need to meet them where they are already spending time: on the internet.

WHY IS IT NECESSARY TO LEARN DIGITAL MARKETING SKILLS YOURSELF, AND NOT OUT SOURCING OR HIRING A STAFF FOR IT

( If you don't have it, your failure rate is already 80% and above)

If you pay someone to manage your new online business, your failure rate will be 80% and above, WHY, first you will spend much money, they will not do it with passion, they may not understand your business and your buyers, you will not know when they are getting it wrong , if they person you employ leaves, you business will suffer before you get a new person to manage it.

You also have to bear in mind that.......

Jobs/VacanciesHow To Make Money With Website Design Skills Using Wordpress by rowels(op): 9:08am On Sep 13, 2017
What website design skills do you have when t comes to wordpress? Millions of websites are powered with WordPress, from personal blogs right up to huge corporate websites. It’s the most popular content management system (CMS) in the world.

It’s the most versatile, best-supported, and easiest to use CMS I’ve tried. If you can imagine it, it’s likely you can do it with WordPress.

So how do you make money with your website design skills using WordPress.

What exactly are “WordPress skills”?

Having WordPress skills can mean a lot of things. Most of the time, it’ll mean one of three things:

You know how to write and publish a blog post or page in WordPress (contributor skills)

You know how to set up and manage a WordPress site, including installing themes and plugins (content manager skills)

You know how to develop custom themes and plugins for WordPress (development skills)

Learning to write and publish a blog post in WordPress is super simple, and you can figure that out in an afternoon. Setting up and managing a WordPress site or learning custom WordPress development takes a little longer (but opens up a whole lot more opportunities).

Jobs/VacanciesWhy Job Seekers Fail To Get Job After Interview by rowels(op): 7:24am On May 23, 2017
Like a bad breakup, an unsuccessful job interview can leave Job Seekers feeling broken and rejected, wondering why you never got a call back. While a recruiter will rarely tell you why you were bypassed, the truth is, most rejections are due to the same basic issues. Occasionally the situation is simply out of your control, but sometimes Most Job seekers in Nigeria are the cause of their problems

So you landed yourself a face-to-face interview! Congratulations! With so many candidates applying online and seeing their resumes disappear into “the black hole,” you’re doing great.

This means:

1) Someone actually read your resume
2) They thought your resume indicated enough relevant experience to call you
3) You passed the phone screen if any–- you said enough of the right things to show you’re well-qualified enough to justify the time for the hiring manager (and perhaps others) to meet you in person

Fantastic! Now, all you have to do is close the deal in the interview.

Unfortunately, that’s where a lot of qualified candidates run into trouble. Maybe you never heard back after the interview, maybe you got a frustratingly vague rejection email, maybe you got called back for another round only to get rejected later.

Rejection sucks. It is particularly frustrating when you know you’d be great in the job.

If you don’t know what you’re doing “wrong,” you can’t fix it. Most interviewers will not take the time to give you honest, useful feedback about why they decided not to hire you.

The Reason

Uche Okoye just graduated with second class upper and ready to work, good enough a company was just ready to hire him, but unfortunately during the interview, it was discovered that Uche does not know how to use the computer and basic Microsoft packages.

Ruth Adams lost her job this year, and when she went to look for a new one she discovered that, even with all of her experience, she wasn’t prepared for the modern work force. When prospective employers asked about her computer skills, she had no answer.

It turns out “that is extremely important,” said Ruth, who needed help with using spreadsheets and other entry-level office computer tasks. She is now enrolled in computer training courses offered by Bizmarrow Computer Training School Gwarinpa Abuja

A digital divide in the hiring office

However deeply computers may have embedded themselves into modern life, there are still millions of Nigerians Job seekers for whom they remain a challenge. For these Nigerians, finding a new job during a time of high unemployment can be especially difficult.

“Its so sad that 80% of Nigerian Job seekers don’t have the necessary computer knowledge needed in the modern workplace, bad enough, most people in this category are university graduates” said Erowele Ikechukwu, a Director in Bizmarrow Technologies Ltd ; a computer and ICT training school based in Gwarinpa Abuja

According to him, “one common statement among those that come to learn computer in our computer school is –I have missed so many job opportunities because employers always ask me how good am I with computer and my answer is always NOT TOO GOOD”

CareerHow To Have A Great Future During Economic Uncertainty by rowels(op): 8:33pm On May 20, 2017
Are you unhappy with your life the way it is? Do you want a better future but aren’t sure how to make it happen?

Building a great future will require making changes to your life now. Whether having a great future to you means having a wonderful family, a high-paying job or being happy, it’s the things you do today that will affect your tomorrow. You will have to plan and make deliberate changes in your life.

So many Nigerians, especially the youths are dissatisfied with the future facing them, And even among those who are satisfied, their optimism about the future is the lowest it’s been in 20 years.

The good news: you can create your own future. Better yet, you can do it simply and systematically as part of your everyday life, inside and outside the workplace.

Peter Drucker, the legendary father of modern management, approached the future with a forward-focused mindset, as something to be created and nurtured in the present moment.

What do we get from his approach today: make choices and commitments, and take action, with tomorrow in mind.

Don’t leave your future to chance or fate, or to the whims of others. Instead, unlock and live your best future, beginning in the here and now. Start with these keys,The point of this is not to point fingers or lay blame on any one. Understand that you have some control over the quality of your life.

Make friends with uncertainty and change.Nonstop uncertainty and change are the new normal. From disruptive new technologies to breakout businesses, turbulence abounds. But as Drucker said, “The most effective way to manage change successfully is to create it.” This requires seeing change as an opportunity, not a threat.

Know that your past does not define your future. You may have had some downs, some failed grades, businesses or poor relationships – this does not mean that you will always fail for the rest of your life. Acknowledge any role that you may have played in these and also look at other factors that may have been at play. The point of this is not to point fingers or lay blame on any one.
