Oladogba Street is off Love All Street not Taike Street. It is parallel to Oluyombo Street. Can we get a pix? |
Disquiet in Lagos Assembly By Kemi Obasola, Published: Tuesday, 8 Dec 2009 The Lagos State Governor, Mr. The alleged rift between the Executive and the Legislative arms in Lagos State was again brought to the fore on Monday when allegations of the possible impeachment of the state Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, SAN, by the lawmakers became rife. The lawmakers, it was alleged, had already collected about 32 signatures towards a clandestine process that may lead to Fashola being served with impeachment notice over allegations of financial indiscretion. The disquiet over the alleged impeachment move has heightened about three weeks after the Speaker, Mr. Adeyemi Ikuforiji, cautioned the governor at the annual budget presentation not to be carried away by the indiscriminate accolades being poured on his administration. Although the Chairman of the House Committee on Information, Mr. Ipoola Omisore, denied the allegation of Fashola’s impeachment, a lawmaker who spoke under condition of anonymity, said Fashola’s group was trying to whip up unnecessary sentiment to cover certain perceived improprieties. Omisore said, “I can tell you that there is no plan to impeach the governor. I can also assure you that the 40 lawmakers in Lagos State have not discussed any issue that has to do with impeachment.” Also, the Majority Leader of the Assembly, Mr. Kolawole Taiwo, said the allegation was baseless. The state Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Opeyemi Bamidele, also said he was not aware of plans to impeach the governor. But the member of the House who spoke with our correspondent on the condition of anonymity said, “The governor and his team bought two helicopters with special expenditure without the knowledge of the Assembly. It is our fault, we did not put a clause in the 2009 budget that the Assembly must be informed about what the Special Expenditure is used for. We never expected him to buy anything as expensive as that without the Assembly’s knowledge. “For the 2010 budget, we will put a clause there asking that we be informed before the Special Expenditure is spent on anything.” Another member who also spoke under condition of anonymity, said, “The Executive after failing to destabilise the House has started going round with rumour of impeachment. Already, we learnt the governor and some leaders of the party had formed a new political alliance which will be registered in case Fashola does not emerge the governorship candidate of the Action Congress for the 2011 election. The new party-alliance has political leaders who used to be the backbone of the Justice Forum. “Fashola wants to use these turbulent times to test his political clout. He wants to preempt the House. He obviously wants to see how public opinion will swing if the subject of impeachment is broached. The party-alliance he formed with other leaders may be used to confront the AC when registered.” Yet, our correspondent reliably gathered that the House’s grouse with the governor was not only on the procurement of the two helicopters. A competent source revealed that alleged improprieties in how contracts were awarded in the past few months has irked the lawmakers. The source cited the disquiet that has greeted the award of contract for Christmas decoration for major streets in Lagos at the cost of N280m. “A good number of us are not happy with the direction that the beautification project is taking, especially on how the same contractor who got the Christmas decoration contract last year at the cost of N320m. I know that queries are being raised and this particular matter with all the relevant documents will be presented for debate on the floor this week.” When contacted, the state Commissioner for the Environment, Mr. Muiz Banire, said seven contractors had been given approval to light up the city with decorations during Christmas. “These contractors will be paid by corporate organisations like Globacom, Skye Bank and FCMB. They will also enjoy branding exposure within the next one month,” he said. It was also gathered on Monday that the Lagos State Chairman, Chief Oladele Ajomale, wrote Ikuforiji to complain that the executive members of the party, including the National Vice-Chairman, Alhaji Tajudeen Olusi, were treated shabbily at the budget presentation on November 17. In his letter to Ikuforiji, Ajomale reportedly complained that the Speaker did not recognise him at the budget presentation while he had to give his seat to the National Vice-Chairman of AC, Alhaji Tajudeen Olusi, because the Assembly’s protocol officers did a shoddy job. When contacted at 8.03pm on the telephone, Ajomale simply said, “Please call me back.” http://www.punchng.com/Articl.aspx?theartic=Art200912083121243 |
I sent you a mail. Yet to get a reply. |
@ Mr kelly, I'll call them. Many thanks! |

Mr Kelly:@ Mr Kelly, Thanks! To be honest I have not monitored the miles per gallon (mpg) but compared to other cars I have driven (including another SUV), the rate of consumption is much higher. I wonder if it peculiar to the 2002 XTERRA. And no, I did not call automedics on Radio Continental. You think they can help? Please send their number if you have it. Thanks! |
I recently bought a 2002 Nissan XTerra and observed that it gulps fuel massively. Going though the manual I discovered that it runs in two modes: Overdrive On /Overdrive Off. To my surprise the Overdrive On mode seems to be the default mode. I.e. When you start the engine, the O/D OFF indicator is not illuminated until you press a switch on the gear handle. I expected that the O/D off mode should be the default. My questions: 1. Is the O/D on mode really the default or is it a wiring problem with my car? 2. It this fuel guzzling peculiar to my car or do other owners experience the same problem? 3. What do you think I can do to solve the problem? Constructive advice is welcome. Many thanks. |
The Home and Property section of The Punch Newspaper for today (Monday June 8 2009) highlights the illegal activities of some developers along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway axis. Unfortunately there is no link to the online edition of the paper. Some paragraphs in the story read as follows: 'A publication signed by the Director-General, Bureau of Lands and Survey, Mr. Gbenga Ogunnoiki, on May 27 2009, had said "It has come to the notice of the Ogun State Government that some individuals and corporate bodies operating as real estate developers have been acquiring large tracts of landfrom unsuspectingland owning communities, villagers and families with the intent to develop the parcels of land into site and service estates. In most cases, the parcels of land are acquired from the owners through fraud, deceit and misrepresentation." "What the developers do is to buy several plots of land from different families and aggregate them with the intention of building an estate. before they can get the appropriate title documents on the aggregated land, they will need to bring all the families together to sign the form of surrender and do a composite survey to cover the entire tract of land." ![]() |

Thanks Ashland for your response. I am comforted by your words and would take your suggestions. However, I think Femab needs to do more to shore up its image with its customers or else it will affect them in the long run. Boladez, Thanks for your analysis. I think we are thinking alike. I am worried that a lot of people are not aware of this I think that people should be cautious of these 'estate developers'. Thanks. |
Help! |
Help! |
Hi Mankere, Would you be magnanimous enough to tell us the name of this estate and the current position in terms of development? Thanks |
Any ideas ![]() |
Thanks Boladez. This is pathetic. ![]() What steps do you think I should take to perfect my title given the company's dodgy nature. I think others who have similar experiences with this company and others should share their experiences so we may all learn the antics of these people. It is one one the reasons I am not interested in the claims of all those companies boasting about their estates at the Mowe/Ofada axis. I have refused to invest a kobo in that area given my experience with FEMAB. When the dust settles on Mowe/Ofada in about a year from now when most of their subscribers would have finished making their installmetal payments and there is nothing on ground in the 'Estates' (i.e. solid infrastructure, planning and management), I hope the subscribers would not be at loss like a lot of those who lost money in the capital market over the last one year or those whole lost money in the Wonder Bank saga. Any experiences/ideas anyone? |
Nobody heard of Femab's Peninsular Gardens Estate in Lekki ![]() |
I am a subscriber to FEMAB Properties Limited's Peninsula Garden Estate at Ogombo, Lekki. I have observed that there isn't much activity going on there years after we subscribed contrary to the promises of the company. Efforts to get info from the company has not been very successful. Does anyone have an idea what's going on? |
