Senator-elect, Dino Melaye, has accused the Nigerian President, Goodluck Jonathan, of running the most corrupt government in the history of Nigeria. In a n interview with Premium Times, Melaye, who was recently elected to represent the Kogi West senatorial district, said the government of Goodluck Jonathan, massively promoted corruption. “Jonathan is the promoter of corruption,” Mr. Melaye said. “I am telling you that the Government of Goodluck Ebele Azikiwe Jonathan is the most corrupt in Nigerian history but (who) we have as president-elect of this country today (Muhammadu Buhari); the man I see as the nemesis of corruption. “Change! I am an advocate of anti-corruption and for me if I enter office, I am going to do it more this time around. “More importantly, now that we have a government that is going to have zero tolerance for corruption, we must as legislators carry out our functions from any form of sacrifice. “Either at the national assembly, we will be drastically checked. “Legislators need to check if they are on the side of the people or side of their pockets. “I started it and I have advocated this even before the elections, and during the inductions training and I said there’s an urgent need to cut down government spending from all ramifications both legislature and judiciary, and more importantly, the allowance of the national assembly.” They must be content because you have to live a life of sacrifice. You have to come with clean hands and show some form of sacrifice to Nigerians, because for us to stand on high morale pedestal to carry out transparent legislative activities, we must show that we are the masses of this country and demonstrate change. We must act the change we preach and by the way , to start we legislat or s must cut down our own pay reasonably. “If we supervise the MDAs, N3billion will not be budgeted for the travels of Mr. President in a year. Where is the president going? Is he the supervisor of the world? And at the end of the year there’s no money returned to the treasury. So these are the types of leakages that I expect legislators to come out and ameliorate this time and fight and check corruption so you cannot check it without making a sacrifice. “We either serve or perish in destructive selfishness . Some of us have resolved to be the people and make democracy, government of the people, by the people and for the people, and not to practice as it is right now. In this government, democracy is greediocracy; government of the greedy, by the greedy and for the greedy.”

Thunder that struck about five persons in Ejila Awori Community High School, Ipatira, in the Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of Ogun State leaves one person dead. Among the five persons hit by the incident were three food vendors, a teacher and a pupil. The tragic incident reportedly unfolded at about 12pm while the school was still bubbling with various activities. According to Punch, the Principal of the school, Mr. O.O. Oshiname, said he was having a meeting in his office when a heavy rain started. He said, “The incident happened last week Wednesday. I was in my office with the executive of the Parent-Teacher-Association. We were having a meeting. “While the meeting was on, it began to rain heavily around 11.30am. About 45 minutes after the rain, it began to drizzle. “Suddenly, a thunderbolt hit and it was so strong that it threw me off balance. The school generator was on, but after the thunderbolt, I asked one of the teachers to turn off the generator.” According to him, some teachers raised alarm when they saw the five victims, who were under a shade in the food vendors’ corner, on the floor. The principal further explained that he went out along with other people in the meeting and saw that the people were lying unconscious on the floor.

doctokwus:I tink so too, nevertheless the tribunal may stil fish out multiple thumb printing by one person. |
Shocking revelation emerged Monday morning after INEC card readers sniffed out over 18,424 ghost voters in the just concluded Benue Zone C Senatorial Election. DAILY POST reports that the national and state Assembly tribunal in Benue State had authorized the senatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Benue South senatorial zone, Comrade Daniel Onjeh and his party to inspect and take the electoral materials of last senatorial election in the area. Onjeh contested the senate seat of the Benue South senatorial district against the senate President, David Mark of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). Mark was however pronounced winner of the poll, which was allegedly marred by irregularities. Onjeh had prayed the tribunal to grant him leave to inspect the electoral materials. Disclosing the alleged shameful and shocking development, youthful Onjeh who once led the National Association of Nigerian Students and West African Students Union, affirmed that he won’t relent until his stolen mandate is restored. Hear him, “whereas INEC declared 166,633 accredited voters for the April 28th General Elections, Card Reader recorded 148, 208. “Aside a host of other irregularities, and non compliance with the Electoral Act, on the surface, 18,424 Ghost Voters have been detected . The stolen mandate must be restored” Onjeh insisted he defeated the incumbent Senate President, David Mark who has been occupying the seat for sixteen years. However, many Idoma natives are of the opinion that the acclaimed Okpokpowulu has overstayed his welcome as the Senator representing the zone and should exit for a fresh blood to enter after his sixteen years did not impact anything meaningful on the Idoma Community. |
