For your info, France and several foreign interests were willing to recognize and support Biafra fully with weapons, machinery and troops in exchange for oil. Yet, Ojukwu refused to compromise the future of the minorities or sell out the Eastern Region for foreign gain.

He could have turned the struggle into a purely Igbo agenda but he chose to protect the unity and dignity of all the peoples under Biafra, including the minorities .
That decision wasn’t foolishness, it was a display of conscience and leadership that valued justice over victory.

A friend of mine manages a cooling van. He was with the driver when they accidentally scratched a Toyota Camry along Rumuokwuta in Port Harcourt. The owner of the Camry and his brother got angry, attacked my friend with an iron rod, and hit him on the head. Things escalated quickly, and the police got involved, eventually seizing both vehicles.

It turns out the cooling van belongs to a prominent politician in Rivers State, and my friend is like a son to him. The politician took the matter seriously and brought in a lawyer. Although the damage to the Camry would have cost just about ₦20,000 to fix, the lawyer filed a case demanding ₦1 million in damages. After some negotiation and pleading, the Camry owner ended up paying ₦400,000.
