SCREENING OF UTME CANDIDATES FOR ADMISSION INTO THE DELTA STATE UNIVERSITY FOR THE 2016/2017 ACADEMIC SESSION

This is to inform all candidates who chose Delta State University, Abraka (DELSU) in the 2016 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) that:

1. All candidates who chose DELSU as their first choice of University and scored 180 and above can apply for the 2016/2017 Admission screening, but they must submit a copy of the jamb result with a scratch card attached to verify the result.
2. The screening will take place at site III, Abraka Campus

vii. Submit the form and generate PIN

2. (a) Candidates should with the PIN for payment access and complete the Delta State University, Abraka, 2016 Screening form online at www.delsuonline.com with their recent coloured passport sized photograph scanned to the JPEG format and not more than 20kb in size.
(b) Candidates are advised to use the virtual PIN immediately after payment, as it will be invalid after six (6) hours after its generation.


(c) Candidates are advised to read the instructions on the front page of the website before completing the form.

(d) Candidates must confirm the JAMB registration number at the point of application, as there will be no result for wrong JAMB registration numbers. The University will not be held responsible for wrong JAMB registration number entered and other errors made by any applicant at the point of application. Your application will not be successful if you enter a Local Government/State of origin different from the one indicated on your JAMB registration form.

(e) Candidates must enter a valid mobile phone number and e-mail address with which the University will communicate with candidates on venue.

All candidates are advised to be properly dressed. This is essential at the Personality Assessment Interaction (PAI). All Applicants should also arrive at the screening venue at least 30 minutes before the exercise commences.
Inconsistency in name or picture on Photo Card will not be acceptable to the University and may lead to disqualification of defaulting candidates. Candidates’ names on their O’Level Certificates, UTME results and other registration documents must be the same.

The damage done to the victims and their families is dreadful enough. It is one of the tasks of leadership to minimize the damage that the attacks can do to wider society. This is a task which – predictably – Donald Trump is failing. “When will we get tough, smart, and vigilant?” he tweeted to his followers: but there is no evidence that anyone in Orlando was anything less than tough, smart, or vigilant as the attack unfolded.
The awful truth is that American society is vulnerable to these attacks in a way that others are not because of its belief that freedom requires easy, widespread access to lethal weapons. While it is true that guns don’t kill people, as the slogan has it, people with guns do kill people, and they do so much more quickly and effectively than people without guns can manage.
There have been 43 mass shootings in the US in the past 10 years, those in which more than four people were killed in a public space. Very few of them had recognizable ideological causes. Some occurred in states, such as Florida, where it is legal for almost anyone who applies for a license to walk around with concealed, lethal weapons – something which does not in practice save anyone’s life if bullets start flying, but which is felt as a reassurance until they do.
The problem here is that the US, a country that valorises freedom above almost everything else, is damaging its real freedoms in pursuit of illusory ones. The freedom that was enjoyed – in both senses of the word – by the dancers at the Pulse nightclub is upheld by tolerance as well as by firm and unbiased enforcement of the laws. It is a general freedom for every kind of American: LGBT as well as straight, Muslim, atheist and Christian. This is what serves as a real beacon to the rest of the world. But this kind of freedom is also what the attack, and the possible reactions to it, must tend to damage.
Whatever the motives of the attacker turn out to be, no gay person in the US can feel as secure today as they did on Saturday – a rejection compounded by the refusal of the authorities to accept blood donations from sexually active gay men. This is an additional tragedy on top of the deaths. The country must not compound it by lurching from fear into fantasies of omnipotence, in which everything gets better if only the strong man lashes out at his enemies. That would damage exactly the freedoms it purports to defend.

What child has not been frightened into behaving thanks to the ever-present youthful fear of Santa not providing come Christmas? Almost all western children were told by their parents that Santa would leave them nothing if they misbehaved. I speak from experience when I say that it was one of the most effective methods of stopping tantrums! Funnily enough, though, the fear always dissipates on Christmas Eve as you just know that Santa will be coming – even if you did slip up a few times.

2. Romeo and Juliet

Not only can Romeo and Juliet be blamed for much of our ideas of the “perfect relationship” – I think it can also be blamed for a high percentage of divorces. Couples going into marriage seek the ideal of a relationship based entirely on passion and romance, and when that romance dims (as so often is the case) they feel cheated and believe the marriage has failed. When in reality, passionate romance is not required for a healthy marriage – while respect, love, and charity are. Romeo and Juliet have much to answer for!

As Barbie has progressed from a pretty young woman to whom all girls could aspire, to something often verging on the likeness of a harlot, one can wonder whether it was Barbie influencing children, or children influencing Barbie. There are certainly many similarities. This could potentially lead to a debate about whether Hood existed or not, but I am of the opinion that he did not. Therefore, he is listed as my number eight on the list. I am sure we have all heard someone justifying theft because the victim is wealthy – and where did this justification come from? Not just the principles of redistribution of wealth that many of us live under in Western Society (read envy taxes) but the fact that to this day, we are all raised believing Robin Hood was a hero – when, in fact, he was a thief. Stealing is almost always wrong, and just because Robin Hood gave the proceeds of his crimes to poor people, it is not a valid justification. As for the previously mentioned taxes, there is every reason for us to believe that the majority of people accept these taxes because of their prior belief in the false morality of the Robin Hood story.

5.BIG BROTHER
A relatively modern addition to this list, Big Brother has been an influence in so many social protests that he has to be included here. His name comes up every time a government passes a restrictive law or a law which seems to remove aspects of our eternal freedoms. Everyone recognizes his face, everyone knows what he stands for, and everyone is terrified of the potential for our own lives to be governed by our own version of the fictional character. Big Brother was, of course, created by George Orwell for his novel Nineteen Eighty-Four.

However, Nigerian PayPal users can only send funds and make online payments. PayPal does not allow Nigerians to receive or withdraw funds.
Thus, I’m going to put you through the two methods I’ve tested and used in opening my own PayPal accounts. The one I use in receiving payments online and to also send money online (PayPal full service).
I’m going to guide you through the processes involved on how to open PayPal account in Nigeria for just online shopping or to send payment for the online merchant. Now let me start with PayPal account for receiving and withdrawing funds, the trick I will be revealing here will be of help to you.
Since Paypal is not available to Nigerians, sending and receiving payment for online transactions have been so difficult for those who have legitimate reasons to use the payment system. And from all indications, Paypal isn’t ready to reverse this restriction anytime soon.
Why Use PayPal?

There are possible lots of reasons why you should use PayPal for your transactions. Power your PC with the internet. Lunch your VPN. Ensure it's connected and running Goto PayPal it will take you to PayPal webpage, then click on sign up to start creating your account. Fill all the required field, your name, your email address, your location, your home address( use your foreign home address). Now that you have filled all required field, click on sign up. Then a link will be sent to your email address for confirmation. Click on the link to confirm your email.
You can now go back to PayPal key in your login details to access your account. Now your account is ready, but you still have one more thing to do. You will need to verify your account before you can start making use of it
How to verify your PayPal account in Nigeria.

It's very important to verify PayPal account, without verification your account will not function. Follow the steps bellow to verify your account;
Log in to your account, at the right side corner. Remember to use your VPN all through. You will see VERIFY account, your account can only be verified by linking your credit card to your PayPal account. To do that you will need a credit card, master or visa card.
Remember you are not opening Nigerian PayPal, so you can not verify this account with Nigeria credit card. So this account can only be verified using a dollar credit card.
I know you are asking where to get a dollar credit card to verify your account? It is very very simple, you can purchase a virtual credit card to verify your account from Nigeriagoldexchange for just $10 or you pay its equivalent in naira, and your card number contain 16 digit numbers and the VCC numbers will be sent to you via your email address you use to sign up with Nigeriagoldexchange with a link where your card will be activated.
Make sure you register the card with the name and address you use for your PayPal account. You now have your virtual credit card in your mailbox.
You can now go back to your PayPal account to verify your account as I said earlier, Click on verify account, a box will pop up showing where you can put in the card details:

VCC Number: 3 digit numbers
Expiring date: month/year
Card type: master or visa card.
After you fill in this information above, then click on verify.
Paypal will send you a mail that $1.97 Is been deducted from your credit card and will be returned after the card is
been confirmed and authorized for the deduction. Within 48hrs, a code containing 4 digit numbers will be sent to you via your email address.
Take this code back to your PayPal account, click on verify the account, there is a field provided for you to enter the verification code sent to you by PayPal, thereafter click save.
That is all! Now your account is fully ready for operation.
You can start receiving money from your survey companies, your affiliate companies, and others.
Remember to always operate your PayPal account using the VPN so that your account will not be limited when the location you are operating the account from is different.
Again, always avoid login into your account all the time. It's a good practice to monitor your account from your email address since every transaction that takes place in your PayPal account will always communicate via your

Although, there are still some few alternatives to PayPal which I will highlight below, some of which include but not limited to the following:
1. Western Union Money Transfer:
With this method, you can receive payment from anywhere in the world. If you’re a freelancer, this may be a good option for you — provided you have clients that are understanding.
Note that you must have a valid government-issued ID card (such as an international passport, national identity card, or drivers’ license) before you can receive payments.
Although this payment method is very speedy, it may not be suitable for very small payments due to the transfer and transaction charges.
2. Bank Wire transfer:
This method of payment is very simple. your funds are transferred from the sender’s bank account to your own bank account here in Nigeria. Once again, you’ll need a domiciliary account for you to receive payment through this method or into your Naira bank account, but the convention will be dining by your bank and may attract. little fee.
Though speedy as it may seem, this payment method is not instant. You may have to wait for days to a few weeks before receiving your funds. But the option is suitable for almost everyone in online business.
3. Payoneer Mastercard
This is the coolest option for Nigerians (in my own opinion).
With the Payoneer debit MasterCard, you can receive payment from freelance job sites, affiliate networks, individuals, and companies.
To get your Payoneer debit card, you have two options:
If you’re going into online freelance business (writing, web design, programming, SEO, graphics design, virtual assistance, translation, etc.) or affiliate marketing, you can request the card through the freelance outsourcing site or affiliate network you want to work with. Elance, Odesk, Freelancer, Markethealth, and Fiverr are examples of Payoneer partners through which you can request your own card.
Secondly, you can visit Payoneer’s website to request the card directly.
After your request has been confirmed by the Payoneer support, you’ll be sent an email informing you of the shipment as well as the expected delivery date.
Note: Payoneer does not deliver to mailboxes. Only residential addresses are allowed. So, use a valid residential address that can be traced easily. If your card gets lost in transit, you may be asked to pay $50 (about N7500) before another card is sent to you.

An application that allows users to gain full control -- root access -- over their Android devices is taking advantage of a security flaw in the Linux kernel that has remained unpatched in Android since its discovery two years ago.
The bug was originally fixed in the Linux kernel in April 2014, but wasn't flagged as a vulnerability until February 2015 when its security implications were understood and it received the CVE-2015-1805 identifier. Even then, the fix did not get ported to Android, which is based on the Linux kernel.
It wasn't until Feb. 19 that researchers from a security outfit called C0RE Team notified Google that the vulnerability could be exploited on Android in order to achieve privilege escalation -- the execution of code with the privileges of the root account
Google started working on a patch that was scheduled to be included in a future monthly update, but then on Mar. 15 researchers from mobile security team Zimperium alerted the company that this vulnerability was already being used to root devices.

Rooting refers to the process of removing the security restrictions normally enforced by Android for third-party applications and giving them full control over the device. Rooting is legitimately used by Android enthusiasts to unlock functionality that's not normally available on their devices, but can also be abused by malware.
Because of this, rooting tools are not allowed on the Google Play app store and their installation is detected and blocked locally through Android's built-in Verify Apps scanner.
"Google has confirmed the existence of a publicly available rooting application that abuses this vulnerability on Nexus 5 and Nexus 6 to provide the device user with root privileges," Google said in an emergency security advisory.
While this particular rooting tool is not classified as malicious, the danger exists that attackers could exploit the same vulnerability to spread malware.
Google has already shared patches for the flaw with device manufacturers and also published them to the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) for the 3.4, 3.10 and 3.14 versions of the Android kernel. Versions 3.18 and above are not vulnerable.
The company also plans to include the patches in the April monthly security updates for its Nexus devices.
Meanwhile, users are advised to only download apps from Google Play and to have theVerify Apps setting turned on. Devices that list a security patch level of March 18, 2016 or later are already protected.

"It burned pretty much my whole front pocket, burned my boxers, started to burn my leg, but I had moved it away in time so it wouldn't burn me," said Rocky.
Luckily, he escaped from his pants with no serious injury and emerged unscathed, barring the embarrassment of being almost half-naked in a public place. It is humiliating having to take off your pants in a parking lot, after all.
Further investigation into what caused the iPhone 6 Plus bursting into flames led to the discovery that the device was refurbished and sold by a third-party to his carrier.
Whether the network operator advertised the handset as a new unit or refurbished at the time of purchase is unclear. Interestingly, Rocky does not want to sue anybody for the incident and merely wants an apology. The refurbishing company already sent Rocky a replacement unit.
So what causes smartphones to combust, you wonder? Usually, it is an unstable and faulty battery. Apart from physical deformity, one way to damage batteries is by using third-party and low-quality chargers.
Apple is reportedly looking into the matter and investigating what may have caused the iPhone 6 Plus to catch fire.

Almost 530 million children live in countries hardest-hit by high floods and tropical storms, mostly in Asia.
An additional 160 million kids are growing up in areas suffering severe droughts, mostly in Africa, Unicef said in the report titled “Unless We Act Now”.
“Children will bear the brunt of climate change. They are already bearing a lot of the impact,” said Nicholas Rees, a policy specialist at Unicef and one of the report’s authors.
“The sheer number of children exposed to climate risk is alarming,” said the report.
US President Barack Obama and China’s Xi Jinping are joining more than 135 world leaders in Paris next week for an international conference aimed at clinching the first agreement on tackling global warming in 20 years.
The most urgent task is for world governments to agree on curbing greenhouse gas emissions, said Rees, but action is also needed on the national level to deal with the impact.
“When impacts occur, children must still be able to go to school and get the health care they need,” he said.
A key concern is exposure to diseases that could become deadlier as a result of climate change and rising temperatures, including malaria, pneumonia, diarrhea and malnutrition.
Heatwaves, which have become more frequent, are causing more severe rashes, cramps, exhaustion and dehydration, which is a common cause of hyperthermia and death among infants and young children.

The 27-year-old singer's third studio album became the fastest-selling record Stateside in its first week of sales, registering figures of 2.433 million downloads and physical copies purchased by Monday (23.11.15), smashing the record set by *NSYNC in 2000, when they sold 2.416 million discs of 'No Strings Attached' in seven days.

France has declared a national state of emergency and has closed its borders after at least 40 people were killed in multiple shootings in Paris.
At least 15 people have been killed near the Bataclan arts centre, where up to 60 people are reportedly being held hostage, French media say.
Three people were killed in an attack at the Stade de France, with some reports suggesting a suicide blast.
Paris authorities have asked people to stay indoors.
Military personnel are being deployed across Paris.
