INTROVERTED BEHAVIOUR is a plus, it envokes pity/interest from employers, if only d introvert can add smartnes s/he will be able 2 play his hand properly. In career, introverts should try if possible 2 avoid ones that will demand human relations, but in truth, personality traits are mixtures not wholes. Concentrate on ur strengths and get what u want 10 Likes |
Religion / Christian's Are The Richest Men In The World by Runninghare(m): 3:17pm On Jan 17, 2017 |
I had a rather bizarre claim levelled at me today, that the majority of the top twenty richest people in the world were atheist. I thought this sounded like bullshit, so me being me, I checked. Now, atheism is correlated with intelligence and education, so you would expect the number of atheists to be higher amongst the most successful people in the world. Of course, wealth isn’t entirely analogous to talent, since a lot of it is inherited or ‘old money’, but still with a (rough) world figure of 15% atheistic you might expect two or more of the top 20 to be atheists. 1. Carlos Slim Helu – Christian 2. Bill Gates – Atheist 3. Amancio Ortega – Christian 4. Warren Buffet – Agnostic 5. Larry Ellison – Agnostic Jew 6. Charles Koch – Christian 7. David Koch – Christian 8. Li Ka-Shing – Buddhist 9. Liliane Bettincourt – Jewish (by marriage) 10. Bernard Arnault – Catholic 11. Christy Walton – Christian 12. Stefan Persson – Christian 13. Michael Bloomberg – Jewish 14. Jim Walton – Unknown 15. Sheldon Adelson – Jewish 16. Alice Walton – Christian 17. S. Robson Walton – Christian 18. Karl Albrecht – Christian 19. Jeff Bezos – Christian 20. Larry Page – Atheist If we count agnostics, that only 4/20, nowhere near 17/20 and of those I know Gates and Buffet have been extremely philanthropic via the Gates foundation, tackling genuine global issues of poverty, starvation and disease. While checking on the religions of the others in this list I found little outside religious donations, Christian summer camps and the like. In short, religion seems to be no particular guide to someone’s charitable status or generosity and if you are religious, much of your effort seems to be diverted into the pockets of religion and perpetuating that faith. https://athefist./2014/02/13/the-beliefs-of-the-richest-people/ |
Literature / Lessons From Myth by Runninghare(m): 4:44pm On Jan 24, 2016 |
A farmer had the ability to understand his animals speech, this farmer did linger in the farmyard each evening just to listen to their words. One evening he did hear the Ox bemoaning to the Ass the hardness of his lot: ' I do labor pulling the plow from morning until night. No matter how hot the day, or tired my legs, or how the bow doth chafe my neck, still must I work. But you are a creature of leisure. You're trapped with a colourful blanket and do nothing more than carry our master about were he wishes to go. When he goes nowhere you do rest and eat the green grass all day' "Now the Ass inspite of his vicious heels, was a goodly fellow and sympathized with the Ox. 'my good friend, he replied you do work very hard and I'll help ease your lot. Therefore, will I tell you how you may have a day of rest. In the morning when the slave comes to fetch you to plow, lie upon the ground and bellow much that he may say you are sick and cannot work' "So the Ox took the advice of the Ass and the next morning the slave returned to the Farmer and told him that the Ox was sick and could not plow. "Then said the Farmer, 'hitch the Ass to the plow for the plowing must go on'. "All that day the Ass, who had only intended to help his friend, found himself compelled to do the Ox's task. When night came and he was released from the plow, his heart was bitter and his legs were weary and the neck was sore were the plow had chafed it. "The farmer lingered in the barnyard to listen. "The Ox began first ' You are a good friend, because of your advice I have enjoyed a day of rest'. 'And I retorted the Ass, am like many another simple hearted ones who starts to help a friend and ends up by doing his task for him. Hereafter you draw your own plow, for I did hear the master tell the slave to send for the butcher'". Copied: L.O.P What conclusions did you draw from the story?? |
