Donald Trump is throwing perhaps his biggest ally under the bus as the reality of his election loss sets in. “.@FoxNews daytime rating have completely collapsed,” Trump tweeted Thursday. “Weekend daytime even WORSE. The biggest difference between the 2016 Election, and 2020, was @FoxNews!” Trump advisors told Axios that the president’s ire at Fox News began on election night earlier this month, when the channel made the early call that Joe Biden won Arizona, which apparently enraged the president. (Most other major outlets eventually called Arizona for Biden on Wednesday.) “He plans to wreck Fox,” a source told Axios. “No doubt about it.” What’s more, some of Fox News’ most loyal anchors have started to scratch their heads at Trump’s repeatedly false claims that he won the election, despite Biden’s obvious Electoral College lead and a popular vote lead that has surpassed more than 5 million more votes. On Monday, Fox News anchor Neil Cavuto cut away from footage of a press conference held by White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany alleging widespread voter fraud, a claim that isn’t based in reality. “Whoa, whoa, whoa, I just think we have to be very clear, she’s charging the other side as ‘welcoming fraud’ and ‘welcoming illegal voting,’” Cavuto said. “Unless she has more details to back that up, I can’t in good countenance continue showing you this.” “That’s an explosive charge to make, that the other side is effectively rigging and cheating,” the Fox News anchor added. “Not so fast.” The Trump campaign has tried desperately to produce evidence of widespread voter fraud since it became clear Biden won the election, coming up short each time and losing legal battles in the process. Even Tucker Carlson, one of Trump’s staunchest allies, told his Fox News audience that Trump’s claims of voter fraud simply aren’t “enough to alter the election result.” While Trump has remained defiant in his claims of victory ― aided by several Republicans who have opted to stay quiet ― Thursday may have marked a shift in the president’s thinking: He has lost the election, so must now move on to his next project. That may be to start his own digital news channel after his presidency ends, siphoning viewers from Fox News over to a network even more entrenched in Trump praise, according to Axios. Trump also spent much of Thursday morning retweeting his own supporters who bashed Fox News and praised Newsmax TV. (CNN)The stars and stripes have been fluttering all week on the streets of Ballina -- the town of just 10,000 in the west of Ireland where US president-elect Joe Biden's Irish ancestors hail from. Ten of the former vice president's 16 great-great-grandparents were born in Ireland, according to the Irish for Biden campaign, with Edward Blewitt, Biden's great-great-great-grandfather, providing the Ballina connection. On Saturday, as CNN projected Biden's White House win, Ballina residents came out to celebrate their distant kin's success. "I think Ballina has saved the world tonight, because without Ballina, there would be no Joe Biden," Smiler Mitchell, a local publican, told CNN. Balloons were tied to cars and the crowd sang "The Green and Red of Mayo," a famous ballad about the county where Ballina is situated. One car with a cardboard cut out of Biden in the front seat had a license plate which read, "PENNSYLVANIA BIDEN #1." In countries across the globe, people reported fireworks, cheering and the sound of church bells ringing after President-elect Joe Biden was named the winner of the 2020 presidential election. Locals in the United Kingdom, where many had leftover fireworks from Guy Fawkes Night this week, reported fireworks going off in London. Anambra State Governor, Willie Obiano, on Thursday, declared a 24-hour curfew state-wide as violence spread in different parts of the state. Hoodlums had burnt the Nnewi Central Police Station and killed two persons around 11pm on Wednesday. Banks and schools in the state had since shut down as the rampaging thugs attack residents and loot shops. The governor said he was forced by the prevailing circumstances in the state and in the country to do declare the curfew. In a state address on Thursday, Obiano said, “I am compelled to address you today by the growing tension across the country ignited by recent efforts by Nigerian youths to ask for a better Nigeria. “While our beloved state remains largely safe and isolated from the boiling sea outside, we have also recorded a few unpleasant incidents in our domain and there is justifiable anger in the land. But we cannot give it a chance to consume us all. “Consequently, we are taking precautionary steps to prevent further descent to lawlessness in Anambra State by imposing a 24-hour curfew with effect from 8pm today until we bring this rising tension under control. “Therefore, all schools and markets in Anambra State are hereby closed. All gatherings by groups and associations under any name or label from 8pm are banned. The security committee of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja has placed a ban on protests in the capital city over safety fears. Nigerians have been protesting nationwide for over a week for the scrapping of the now-defunct Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) of the Nigeria Police Force, a unit with a long history of abuse of power. Even though the government dissolved the unit earlier this week, protesters have refused to back down, expressing discontent with the government's measures. In a statement released by the FCT administration on Thursday, October 15, 2020, the security committee decided at its October 13 meeting that the protests are in violation of safety rules. The committee alleged that the peaceful protesters have been behaving in an unruly manner, and caused inconveniences to others in the capital city. The committee also alleged that the protesters have failed to comply with COVID-19 guidelines regulating public gatherings. The committee's meeting, presided over by FCT Minister, Muhammad Bello, resolved that the ongoing protests endanger the lives of everyone in the capital city. "All street demonstrations, protests, and processions will not be allowed anywhere within the FCT," the statement read. The statement failed to state the consequences for violating the ban, but at least 10 protesters have been killed, and many assaulted by police officers since the protests started over a week ago.
