MiddleDimension: is that the full name of your country, "People's Democratic Republic of Algeria"? yes . MiddleDimension: how do you compare Mig planes with the Sukhois? if you were to choose only one for your airforces , the sukhoi 30 would be better , but the two were designed to complement each other , you can see the couple Mig29/sukhoi 30 , like US couple F16/F15 . Su-30 is a heavy multi-role air superiority combat fighter , with longer range , carry greater payload and fuel , a better radar detection , better technologically , avionics and systems ect...... the mig 29 is smaller with a smallest RCS , and has a better thrust/weight ratio so a better acceleration and climb rate . with the cost , its the only advantages over the sukhoi 30 . add that algeria have only the mig 29 S version , so its only a second line fighter . i'm sur algerian air force salivate on the sukhoi 35 for the futur. for small budgets the last MIG 35 with AESA radar would be great ! .

Sudanese army, Ethiopian militias clash near borderAt least two people killed and nine wounded KHARTOUM, Sudan Clashes between Sudan’s military and Ethiopian militias have taken place near the border with Ethiopia over the past three days, a spokesman for the Sudanese army said late Thursday.
Brigadier General Amer Mohamed Al Hassan said in a televised statement that Ethiopian militias backed by the Ethiopian army have attacked territories in Gadaref state in eastern Sudan since May 26.
“Backed by the Ethiopian army, the militias have attacked many areas along the border between Ethiopia and Sudan and have confiscated Sudanese resources,” he said.
He noted that at least two people have died and nine have been wounded in the clashes, including soldiers and civilians.
“Between May 26 and May 28, Ethiopian militias backed by the army have attacked the area of Al Birka in Sudan, but the Sudanese army has repulsed them. But the clashes have continued and that has led to the wounding of three civilians and killing of one child. Also, one army officer has been killed and six other soldiers have been wounded.”
Sudan and Ethiopia have engaged in continuous talks over the demarcation of the borders between the two countries. |

kabe1: It doesn't seem like Moroccan M60s have any significant upgrade.
At least when compared to Turkey. yes they have upgraded them in 2003 only to the A3 TTS version , for morocco its second line tanks , used in sahara against polisario western sahara rebels . the turkish m60 TM version and sabra version ( israelian upgrade) used also by turkey are the best upgrade avaible now days . |

MiddleDimension: you should have gone in to help Ghadafi, then. ghadafi was a dictator , who repressed his population , he also had a lot of politic problems with Algeria . so it was impossible to intervene militarily against the Libyan population to protect him , algeria only milited for politic solution and closed it air space for OTAN when they attacked him , and when ghadafi got killed algeria protected his wife and 03 of his children and family and evacuated them to algeria |

Kabe2: Algeria supports Khalifa Hafted right? Not openly? nope , algeria official position is in the middle , militates for negotiations between the two camps, a peaceful political solution . for non official position i think that hafter is a clown , a puppet in the hand of some obscure powers , he want to be the new dictator in libya , and he even bad mouthed algeria in the past when he was thinking he got some back up . so even algerian population and media's dont like him in the other hand the GNA with his link to the Muslim Brotherhood ideology and islamists , to turkey wich dream of a renewal of its old ottoman empire control in the region and a terrorists factory manufacture with the blessing of america . and dont forget that algeria was against the military intervention of france and NATO against kadafi in 2011 , she had warned that it would put the brothel in libya and was ignored and even attacked for its position by libyans , so now they reap what they sow . Algeria has lost faith in Arab countries for a long time, so it avoids getting directly involved in the affairs of other countries but i think for algerian officals in libya between this two factions its like to choose between the plague and cholera . . both dont sweet our policy it will offer at best a table for negociation |
