for this exerice frenchis didnt think that algeria will sent its old mig 25 , they expected to be intercepted from a sukhoi 30, or mig 29 . and not to be intercepted so early by a mig 25 . even if this old mig 25 is close to retirement , no modern jet in the region can compete with its speed ( + mach 3 )

their constitutional amendment allowing their military to operate outside it's borders doesn't sound like people that would be neutral for long and with Egypt direct intervention in libya I doubt that move won't force their hands soon
algerian army will not move in libya , we have no horse that we support there , egypt , turkish have . algerian diplomacy have even problems with the two sides

so algerian army will deploy more troops on its borders with libya , rise the level of alert of its army , air defense systems , to stop any possible infiltration of terrorists or armed groups escaping from the mess , or foreigner jets who could get too close to our airspace . and monitor the situation from far .

algeria could play a political role for negociations , and will stay neutral in this story

BREAKING: SOLDIER CLIMBS TOWER, INSISTS ON COMMITTING SUICIDE.
Posted by News Express

For over an hour, residents of Jalingo, Taraba State, have been struggling to save a military man from committing suicide.

The soldier, whose name is given as Ali, has climbed the Welcome to Taraba Roadblock Tower -over 24fts high, and is threatening to jump down.

He is speaking in Hausa and pidgin, saying: “I want to die. Allow me to jump down and die.” But the youth who have gathered there are begging him: “Please do not jump. We don’t want you to die.”

Ali is seen on the high altitude Tower, attempting severally to jump down, but the people are trying to make sure they save him if he jumps. But they say they prefer he changes his mind and does not jump.

Witnesses said the soldier’s behaviour attracted their attention when they spotted him on top of the tower pulling and throwing down the items of clothing on him.

“We noticed someone climbing the place and pulling off his clothes. We got there to discover he is someone we know. He was left with under pant and an inner vest and poised to jump. We went close and began to beg him,” an eyewitness said.

A close look reveals he has an injury on his left kneecap, which he bandaged
a suicide from 7 meters ? grin he didnt found something higher ?? what a weird suicide attempt .

Not worth my time, but still I will try my best.
you missed a word from the French Defence Attaché " “The standard for international flights is that you have to go to the next international airport , and the next one is Kano. " , international , not all airport can receive big planes like the antonov 124 wink

if you have more time , check only international airports where a big plane like an antonov 124 can land , i have cheked the closest Maroua-Salak camerounian airport for exemple , in 2014 it wasn't an international airport , the extension of the airstrip for big plane was done later .

and think about this , why france if they wanted to attack nigeria or harm you, would use a russian aircraft , from a russian company (from logo on the tail its the 224th flying brigade affiliatedto russian defense ) , with russian crews ?? , it seems logical for you ?

Foreign AffairsRe: African Militaries/ Security Services Strictly Photos Only And Videos Thread by S400:

No bro. It was forced to land. Pilots fly with sufficient and extra fuel for any journey. Another story said it had a technical fault, one said lack of fuel, lol.

When I say "we separate men from boys", people insult me. But you believe every coded story out there. Smh.
any serious source , that say it was forced to land or detected ?? from russian , french embassy and even nigerian sources its all the same version .

security agent intercepted the antonov 124 in the airport after the landing , wich is normal .

and here what the nigerian Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal Adesola Amosu ( a serious nigerian official source) said :

The Nigerian Airforce on Monday explained why it detained and later released the Chad-bound Antonov 124 cargo Aircraft to the French Government.

Security operatives had on December 6 intercepted the aircraft, which carried military hardware, at the Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano.

The Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Adesola Amosu, made the clarifications in Abuja at a joint media briefing with the French Defence Attaché to Nigeria, Col Mac Humbert.

He said the aircraft was detained because the crew could not provide adequate clarification on the flight, adding that Nigeria had to ensure that the equipment being conveyed were not intended for criminal activities elsewhere.

Mr. Amosu said Nigeria agreed to release the plane after receiving adequate documentation on the flight from the French government.

“We just got the correspondence from the French government that the items on board the aircraft belong to it and we respect that.

“We have had established good relationships with the French government and we do value that.

“So, by this press briefing we are releasing the aircraft as soon as we finish from here,” Mr. Amosu said.

He said that the aircraft departed Bangui, Central African Republic for Ndjamena, Chad, and that from the records available to the Air Force authorities, it had no clearance to operate in Kano.

“The French government and Nigeria have a block clearance to cover up most flights throughout the year.

“But the block clearance that we have has some exceptions tabulated on the document that we give for block clearances.

“There are about seven elements that ought to be avoided when you operate using the block clearance.

“One of the conditions is that the aircraft must not be bearing toxic waste, or dangerous materials.

“It should also not be carrying nuclear or bacterial or any issue used for chemical weapons; and troops must not be carried.

The Air Chief said when the aircraft landed in Kano, the Nigerian Air Force had a responsibility to ensure that all aircrafts that landed at the country’s airports were duly searched to confirm that they had permission to land.

He said that the airforce did exactly what it needed to do, and that it did not get adequate clarification from the crew.

Mr. Amosu said that one of the issues faced while trying to get clarification from the crew had to do with language barrier, which he said, was not a new thing.

He listed the items found on the aircraft to include two gazelle helicopters for light wheezy; a rover armoured plated for VIP protection; propeller blades and some items for entertainment.

“We expect every nation to rise up to verify that those items are not going to be used to cause trouble in other regions of the world.

“And that is exactly what the Airforce has done, not just about fighting war, but stopping this kind of activities is also part of war.

“We may not be fighting right here on Nigerian soil but in the process of interception, we may be helping other nations to win their war against insurgency.

The French Defence Attaché to Nigeria, Col. Mac Humbert, said the flight was intended to proceed from Bangui to Ndjamena.

Mr. Humbert said that when the flight was approaching Ndjamena, the airport there was too busy , and the runway was not available for landing.

He said the airport control tower in Ndjamena, therefore, told the crew to go to the nearest available airport and land.

“The standard for international flights is that you have to go to the next international airport, and the next one is Kano.

“The problem is the crew was in flight and I could not see how the embassy could inform the government here.”

so we should separate serious source from fantasy . specially for a simple standard international flight protocol for this story ,and even a simple civilian radar could not miss a hudge cargo like the antonov 124 on a civilian transport mission , so nothing special even if we imagine that it was intecepted

Based on the verifiable fact that an unidentifiable plane once flew over Nigeria and was forced to Land and it caused great embarrassment to the French ,
Nigeria does have a Radar Air Defence System .
This incident happened in the last days of the GEJ administration.
Since then there is physical proof that the NAF has bought some infrastructure regarding Air Radar Infrastructure System .
It is reasonable to expect there is some System is in place.
any link about this please ?? , are you talking about the russian Antonov-124 that was carrying French military equipment( a gazelle helicopter with ammunition) between Bangui to N'Djamena for . and had to land in Kano because it was out of fuel in 2014 ??

Please, are you very sure about this? This is the reason argument starts. Because few people like us, who know better, are stunned when you speak untruth with so much certainty.

Please have you been inside our armoury? Were you a member of the National Air Defence Corps? What do you know about the NA air defence artillery regiment? Are you privy to classified procurements? How do you know that our air defence is non-existent? And you talk with so much certainty, which sucks.

See, any enemy that thinks we have no high-tech air defence system runs the risk of complete annihilation in the skies. Unfortunately, Nigerian military is very secretive and you will never know the specifics of the weapons and systems.

However, Just take it as truth from someone who knows more than you ever will.
I didn't mean to be malicious with my words .

i'm activ in military forums for 16 years now , and i follow here in this thread about african and nigerian military news for maybe 4, to 5 years now . and have searched a lot about nigerian air defense capacities in the past ( yes ,on internet only ) , and you have to admit that no official or non-official contract of an advanced new air defense system have been ever released in the past .

as for secret , classified contracts , in secrets hangars, james bond nairalander, i dont believe this things , maybe you can hide some small procurments , but for important contracts even iran , israel , egypt with there billions contracts are released in details from there own allies compagnies ( its business ), even most algerian weapons contract from russia are released , even rumors are published years before contracts , , dont think nigeria have better relationship with russian, US , china's military compganies to hide some secret major advanced weapons contracts ( specially for air defense systems) . and specially that nigerian military budget is low for procurments.

and when you see the nigerian army new weapons delivry ceremony with army chief of staff and medias ! even for small units delivry , i m sur the day nigerian army will get air defense systems we will see them quickly . ( because first role of an air defense system is to deterre , so even most secretive armies let leak some infos of there deterence capacities and even fake news of systems they dont have yet.

So for my personnal view , africcan countries like us , that can't compete with the western armadas in attack , should focus on defense and detere any possible agressor with a strong mobile air defense system , that the bill to pay in case of an agression will be high even if they win in the end , and regarding the Nigerian army case, this is what frustrates me the most about it. ( even if you dont have the same geopolitics as north africa,) but nigeria is surrounded from all parts from french military bases and no modern air defense system or even high military radar detection and EW capacities to protect it if french want to strike your units ( read about what french air forces have done in libya during libyan tchadian war for exemple ) . for me it should be the second priority after finishing with boko haram terrorists.

so again i'm not saying this out of wickedness or to demean the Nigerian army . I feel concerned about your contry and it's just frustrating to see no modern air defense system for a big country like nigeria .

would like to know NA missle capabilities..
was reading about Iran and US drone issue sometime ago..
was wondering if a situation like that where to happen a foreign drone entering Nigeria airspace..
what's the NA capabilities for handling a situation like that

Toju200,kabe1,s400
Unfortunately , nigerian air defense system is almost nonexistent undecided , only few F7 jets with PL-9 missiles for interception , dont know if the old Roland Air defense system still in service ,

if for exemple france sent some rafales or mirages , they will wander in the sky of nigeria without any threat from them . not to talk about military radars , EW systems, anti jamming ect....
