Lagos bizman circulating ex-lovers’ nude photos arraigned, gets bail
13th July 2023
KENNEDY
By
Naomi Chima

A businessman, Amarah Kennedy, who was accused of circulating nude photos of his former lovers was on Wednesday arraigned at a Chief Magistrates’ Court, in Ogba, Lagos.

Kennedy was arraigned on six counts charge of provocation, unlawful conversion of funds and publication of nudes on social media without the consent of the persons.

The charge read in part, “That you, Amarah Kennedy, sometime in September 2022, in a hotel, at Olodi Apapa, Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District, insulted, annoyed, disgraced and/or provoke one Adams Kadijal Gbemisola without her consent did share her nude in the social media and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 24 of the Cybercrime Stalking (Prohibition and Prevention) Act, Laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 2015.

“That you, Amarah Kennedy, on June 4, 2023, at the Olodi Apapa area of Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District, insulted, annoyed, embarrassed, provoke one Nne Esther Ogbuji ‘ without her consent shared her nude picture on Facebook and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 24 of the Cyber Stalking (Protection and Prevention) Act Law of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 2015.”

Though the charge was read to him, the court did not take the defendant’s plea.

Chief Magistrate A.O Layinka thereafter granted him bail in the sum of N2m with two sureties in like sum.

She ordered that the case file be duplicated and sent to the Office of the Directorate of Public Prosecution for legal advice.

She thereafter adjourned the case to August 3, 2023, for legal advice.

A mild drama had earlier played out in the courtroom when a Magistrate who earlier held brief for Layinka, directed that Kennedy takes his plea while the charge was being read to him.

The police prosecutor, Cyril Ejiofor, however, noted that he submitted a remand application before the court and therefore the defendant cannot take his plea.

Irked by the development, the magistrate asked the prosecutor if he wanted to take over the case from her, and thereafter left the courtroom.

After about seven minutes, she returned accompanied by Layinka.

This led to another mild drama in the courtroom as she also instructed that Kennedy takes his plea, but after the confusion, ordered again that the charge should just be read to him.

The prosecutor, Ejiofor after the charge was read, prayed the court to grant the remand application before it and remand the defendant to the Gender Unit of the Lagos State Police Command for 21 days.

The defence counsel, led by O. Ogunolole, however, objected to the application, describing the offences as bailable.

The magistrate, in her ruling, stated, “After a careful review of the six-count charge and remand application dated July 12, 2023, the offences of the defendant show no allegation of threat to life, no allegation of sexual violence.

“I hereby refuse the remand application and the defendant is admitted to bail in the sum of N2m with two responsible sureties in like sum.”

PUNCH Metro had published a series of follow-up stories to a special feature published by Sunday PUNCH on the plights of two women, Kester and Temi, in the hands of Kennedy who they met separately on different WhatsApp and Facebook chat groups for singles.
PoliticsSit-at-home: Army Chief Orders Raid On IPOB Hideouts by Sablexxxtoons(op): 7:09am On Jul 13, 2023
The Chief of Army Staff, Maj. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, has ordered troops to seize control of areas where the Indigenous People of Biafra enforce their sit-at-home order throughout the South-East states.
The order cames after a Finland-based pro-Biafra agitator, Simon Ekpa, announced that there would be a two-week sit-at-home in the South-East region from July 31.

According to him, the order was to demand the immediate and unconditional release of the detained IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu, as well as facilitate the freedom of Biafra nation, among others.

Ekpa warned that failure to comply with the sit-at-home order would attract ‘heavy consequences’.

However, speaking in an interview with The PUNCH, the Director, Army Public Relations, Brig. Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu, declared that such an announcement was unlawful and would not be condoned.

He said the troops of the 82 Division had been given an order to work with other security agencies to ensure citizens go about their businesses freely.

Onyema said, “The renewed threat by IPOB to compel the people in southeastern Nigeria to sit at home is not only appalling but a violation of the fundamental rights of southeastern Nigerians and, therefore, unlawful. This will never be condoned.

“The Chief of Army Staff has handed down clear directives to the 82 Division of the Nigerian Army operating in synergy with other security agencies to ensure robust patrols to dominate all flashpoints and emplace measures to ensure citizens are free to go about their legitimate businesses.

“Strangely, Simon Ekpa, a notorious terrorist and self-acclaimed leader of IPOB, is in Finland making a living for himself and his family, but ordering the people to shut down their means of livelihood by sitting at home.”

The army spokesman called on Nigerians in the South-East region to disregard the sit-at-home order, urging them to support the security forces to defeat IPOB.

Onyema said, “We implore the good and enterprising people of the South-East to shun all forms of cajoling or threats aimed at unlawfully compelling them to be reclusive by sitting at home. We urge them to join forces with the security operatives to resist this illegality perpetrated by IPOB.”

Similarly, the police have vowed to resist the sit-at-home order in any part of the South-East.

The Force spokesperson, Muyiwa Adejobi, told The PUNCH that the police had killed and arrested non-state actors enforcing the order, adding that the force would not rest on its oars.

Adejobi disclosed that the police were keeping a watch on the sponsors of the agitators.

He said, “The police will not allow any unlawful order to stand in any part of Nigeria. The sit-at-home order is illegal and unacceptable. We have suppressed and neutralised the non-state actors who have been trying to enforce the order. We have arrested many of them and recovered their weapons.

“We will not relent in our efforts to maintain law and order in all parts of Nigeria, and we assure the people in the South-East to go about their lawful businesses as we have emplaced adequate security measures to protect them. We are keeping watch on the sponsors of these agitators who cause pain and sorrow in the areas.

Meanwhile, the Governor of Enugu State, Peter Mbah, visited the headquarters of the Nigerian Navy in Abuja to seek support for the abolition of sit-at-home in the state.

The governor had, on June 2, declared sit-at-home banned in Enugu, saying it was injurious to the economy of the state.

Despite his declaration, however, sit-at-home remains a feature of the state on Mondays.

Speaking to journalists during his visit to Abuja, Mbah said attracting investors to Enugu State would be an uphill task if sit-at-home persists.

The governor said, “If we must deal with the root causes of insecurity we have in our country, we must adopt both the kinetic and non-kinetic approaches to dealing with insecurity, and we felt that the big elephant in the room is to address those activities that may be an inhibitor to bringing in investors to our state.

“We identified insecurity as one of those inhibitors; we felt that it was a clog in the wheel of our continued development, and that was why, immediately after I assumed office, I convened a Security Council meeting, and following that, we made a pronouncement that we wanted the sit-at-home to end. This is because we have zero tolerance for that.

“There is no way we’ll be able to achieve the exponential picture we have painted, those massive promises about growing our economy and eradicating poverty, it will not happen if we don’t deal with that problem, and of course that requires we tighten our security architecture, and mobilise our security agencies in our state to be able to deal with it.”

Mba said he looked up to the partnership with the Navy to help bolster security in Enugu State and uphold the unity of the country.

He said, “Thus far, we are getting the required support from the security agencies, and we are hoping to see them join hands with us to be able to deal with this big elephant.

“When I was sworn in, I took an oath to defend the unity of this country, and that is exactly what we’ll do, and we are not going to endorse any behavior that is outside that. So, what we are saying, in effect, is that we look forward to partnering with the Navy in those areas that are necessary to do so to achieve one common goal of building one unifying country, peace, and security.”

CrimeRe: Ikeja Court Sentenced Man To Death For Killing His Employer by Sablexxxtoons: 6:24am On Jul 13, 2023
Bastard..rot in jail .

orkers reportedly claimed that their boss was stingy and their future was in jeopardy, so they planned to rob their boss.
The victims, Olusola Olusoga, 56 and Tunji Omikunle, 39, were thus killed in the process of the operation in the hotel by the suspects.
This was confirmed by the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Imohimi Edgal, at the State Police Command.
Giving details, CP Edgal, confirmed that the crime was perpetuated on January 25, 2019, at about 0300hrs. He said that the Managing Director/CEO of Etashol Hotels and Suites, Olusola Olusoga and her Business Manager, Tunji Omikunle, were murdered at Etashol Hotel, Ojodu, Lagos State.

“The plan to rob the deceased business woman was hatched by three members of staff of the hotel namely: Henry Lolo, Ehizojie Vincent Jeffrey and Okechi Light Ezi, including two contract staff who were identified by their aliases as Dubai and Dangote” the Police boss said.

According to Ehizojie Vincent Jeffery, the principal suspect that was arrested in Port Harcourt where he had gone to take refuge after the heinous act, all the conspirators agreed that they had no future in the company because they believed the deceased was miserly. They therefore agreed that she must be robbed of her hard earned local and foreign currencies being a London returnee.
Police boss said that in order to have a hitch-free operation, they agreed that Henry Lolo, currently at large, must prepare a fast food called ‘Indomie’, a delicacy loved by all staff members and lace it with a sleep inducing stimulant called S. K. to be served the rest of the staff who were not part of the conspiracy.
He said, “Their plan worked as they successfully sent the rest to early sleep except the late manager who was already asleep before he could be served with the poisoned meal”.
However, their attempt to steal the key to the late CEO’s bedroom from the late manager’s pocket, proved abortive as he woke up in the process and struggled with them at the reception area. He added that in the ensuing scuffle, the manager was strangled to death.
“After strangulating the hotel manager, late Tunji Omikunle, they searched his pockets but could not find the keys, so they went upstairs to the late CEO’s room and forced it open,” the CP said.
“They met an obviously shocked woman in the room and bound her hand and leg. By the time they were through, the woman died”.
“The gang stole her money, fifty thousand Naira, jewelries and other personal effects but could not take them out of the hotel for fear of being challenged by a Police team stationed close to the hotel”.

Edgal further said that after deed had been done, they abandoned their loot in the hotel which had been recovered as exhibits by the homicide detectives investigating the case. He said investigation has established a prima facie case of conspiracy and murder against the suspects, Ehizojie Vincent Jeffery and others still at large for the murder of the deceased persons, one Olusola Olusoga and Tunji Omikunle.
CP Imohimi however said that the CCTV footage available to the Police, clearly showed the roles played by each of the participants in the crime.
“The suspects so far arrested will be charged to court for murder while efforts are in top gear to arrest other suspects still at large” Imohimi said.
