The main reason those northerners love PTDF is that they win the most because they have the most states in Nigeria.

If it were reversed, they would have cancelled the PTDF scholarship like how they cancelled PRESSID scholarship.

Check all the government parastatals, are those guys competent enough? They dominate everywhere due to nepotism and the quota system.
That is why they will fight till death for quota sysyem to be actioned.

Quota system is mainly to favor the minority. If you don't know, is like you lack this knowledge. And no northerner in record is bearing the ptdf awards under the slot of southern state. Some southerners decades back fought for this quota system during IBB regime and now you're condemning it because you don't know what they foresee to came up with that idea. They foresee the northern dominance.
And nepotism is when you go to any parastatals and find entirely people from one side of the region. Don't be ignorant that southerns have been heading this parastatals, ministries, and agencies right from inception. You have representative at federal level also. Every committee created by government is carrying along all participants from the country.

You're just funny, they way you interpret things. This is a platform of matured people for God sake. PhD applicants and all inclusive. Some have been working for more than 10 years. Everyone that made it to interview stage, deserve this scholarship. And if you're the most deserving, PTDF will not shortlisted you for interview. They will award you the scholarship straight. Stop talking like this. No one knows anyone educational background here, or working experiences, we're all strangers to ourselves.

Attend both if possible. if it happens on the 30th fine, if not, then you attend the 1st June.

I have done my interview successfully, MashaAllah. The interview was smooth, few questions were asked; summary of my research proposal, why do I want to go outside for the study, that the title of my proposal is long I should summarize it before them.

Just did my interview today in Ibadan, Engineering field Msc. My observation is that the marking scheme has an objective part and a subjective part.

OBJECTIVE PART
1. O Level result. There are points for the different O Level grades. Only the best five subjects are picked. I did science in O Level but commerce was one of the subject I wrote and I got A3. To my greatest surprise they picked the commerce and left the Physics cos I had C4. So I think they pick your best 5 grades irrespective of whether it is relevant to your field or not.

2. First degree institution: I strongly suspect they have points for different class of institutions. When I gave them my degree certificate, the first question the leader of my panel asked was which school and when he was told the school he entered something into his computer like he was doing when assessing my O Level, before asking which grade.

3. First degree grade.

4. Professional body membership: I also strongly suspect the number of professional bodies you belong to also matters. I have NSE and COREN and when I handed it to them they thought it was just one but when they realised it was two certificates I gave them the guy exclaimed "oh it's two" laying emphasis on the "two", and the leader appeared to have changed the initial score he gave me. I don't know about professional certification cos I was not asked for it.

SUBJECTIVE PART
1. Dressing: they assess your dressing. Not too good comments where made about my dressing and strongly suspect they scored me low (please nobody should ask me what the comments were). My advise is dress formal as much as possible. Knot tie and wear suit if possible you can never be wrong if you do that

2. SOP: You are assessed based on how they feel you have expressed yourself when you are asked questions about your SOP. I was knocked off balance when I was asked that based on my work experience, what topic do I plan to research on for my Msc and what problem is it going to solve, in my mind I was like "on top masters wey I neva start !". I just formulated something sha and I can't tell how convinced they were. Let's note that assessment style of SOP will differ according to the panelist that is why it is on the subjective part.

This is the kind of experience sharing we're talking about that is creating contention in the house. Good one @olo4niaja, we have learnt from you. And we'll continue to learn from others. I think this will be the best PTDF thread on Nairaland.

I hope you don't have this mentality abroad when conducting research. You will be jailed.
Keep shut and obey PTDF confidentiality regulation that you signed before your application. Check the terms and conditions of the scholarship and interview process.

You are a sinner and a breaker of the law. How I wish Nigeria have such a facility to track you down and face the wrath of the law.

You're just scared for nothing for God sake. Go to YouTube you'll see tens of videos on PTDF interview. So this is not something like exam malpractice as you call it. I have watched multiple of videos regarding the ptdf interview and people share their experience the comments section. I ask alot of questions and got answered. I have send an email to previous awardees and got attended to. So what are you insinuating. YOU DON'T KNOW ANYBODY'S BACKGROUND HERE. You know no one performance, what they're capable and not capable of. If you like share, if you don't like don't share. No one is forcing anybody. PTDF itself have posted a video on it twitter handle for PhD interviewees experience. I watched it. It there you can go and search for it. I just wonder why you're doing all this incantations. Pls.

He didn't qualify for the interview. He's just giving general advice for present and future reference. Mind you, I will advise you not to lose too much sleep over this interview. If you are expecting something intricate and spirited you will be very disappointed. Like I said, know what you're pitching, explain in a succinct manner and prep for possible answers. The interview is not really as daunting as you expect it to be.

Like he said, I do not even make it to the interview. But my concern is for the benefits of future aspirants. I'm not saying you should publish all what they ask you from A-Z, but you can give an insight, summarily you may say; this is the number of interviewers, they requested so and so documents, the questions are more academic or ptdf/petroleum industry related, for the virtual interview this is how it done, so and so mistakes should be avoided. Like @Fatimah MK said your destiny is predestined. If you're to attend Oxford, Massachusetts, or Cambridge through ptdf for example, no one can stop it. If you're not meant for it, no connection can take you there.

Wishing best of luck to you guys going for the interview starting on 23rd. Don't forget to share your interview experience. Subsequently as the interview is going on, what you shared will benefit others. And it will go along way. What I realized from the previous years trend on nairaland platform regarding PTDF OSS is that post-interview experience aren't so much shared. Let's change the style this year.

Understand before you comment. Every successful applicants received a mail for interview. We are talking about the exact day and time each applicant will do interview,the email hasn't been sent yet as said by PTDF. So, you are confusing yourself.

No one on earth is aged enough above to be advised. So don't brag that you're not a baby, this and that. I'm not fighting you. It's just a simple statement that if you happens to tell me first I will thank you, even though I have many plans for myself.

Not interview invites. A mail stating the exact date and time for each one. Everyone can't do interview same day. Between 23rd May and 10th June are the days the interview will take place.

From the culture of this scholarship. Normally June is the month they do induction to the finalist. Stop creating illusionary thought and find your alternative. I too didn't receive any email. So divert your energy to plan B. If they send email find and good, if they don't no heart break.
