Haven't read much Grisham but my worst has to be The Summons or so >sad Don't think I've been more pissed at the end of the book.

The title of the one I love most eludes me now funny enough. It had a young lawyer that had one crazy case. Think it started with a lunatic that walked into a place and shot some people.

its a street lawyer. Story was about d guy abandoning the big law firm after d incident to work d little ppp cases on d street

We might get a clash between the two last standing empire in the future.
Reva's and Alucius POV's were alright but lyrna and Vaelin dropped the ball.
Have you read the Kite runner ?

Nah, I think he is done with that universe for now with the exception of maybe a couple of short stories and I feel it is better like that, it is nice to have an open ended ending.
Here is a link to his thoughts on the novel. https://anthonystuff./
I kind of liked Lyrna's POV maybe because she is my favorite character and was sharing her space with my other favorites like Nortah and Alornis. Vaelin tho... surrounded with characters I couldn't care less about on a quest that was boring was the weakest part of the book.

Kite runner is on my to-do list but right now it is Price of Valor I'm reading, the third in the Shadow Campaigns by Django Wexler. An enjoyable series so far.

And the mountain echoed was one of the best books I read last year, it some truly exceptional story even if there are some stories that drag on a bit.

Just finished Queen of Fire. Lyrna and Frentis stories were excellent but Vaelin part felt a bit boring, kind of like how I felt reading Frentis story in Tower Lord. It provided a suitable end with several shocking twists so I can't complain. All in all a great conclusion to the trilogy.

They are pirates, you dont have to like them, i dont like their reaving and raping either, with theur "We do not sow"s, but i think their story is interesting. As to Dorne in the show, no doubt it was shit, they really ruined Dorne. So then what's your favorite storyline.

I don't hate them because they are pirates, the vikings were pirates and were awesome. I hate them because their entire culture is unsustainable and doesn't make any sense. Thy are basically the vikings without any of the good parts. No culture can survive based only on "reaving" for as long as they did and if not for GRRM authorial fiat they don't deserve to exist. They are the worst type of parasites and should have been wiped out centuries ago especially considering they don't even contribute anything to the Seven kingdoms.

Dorne also annoys me but that is based on their history than any of the current story although I still find myself skipping the Dorne arc. As for favorite storyline I'll give it to Jon, a genuine good guy fighting a threat that actually matters. Stannis too, his character is great (book stannis not the rubbish the show did and yes I'm still very pissed about the show) and Arya too. Waiting for the glorious revenge of the North too.

Yeah, I second the review for the book. The summary does not do it any justice at all. The quality of the story and writing is far above any of the YA fiction you mentioned. Best of all the romance subplot is not what is driving the plot at least not in the usual way and is secondary to the gripping story being told.

You won't be disappointed reading it,

I'm getting tired of bleak fantasy books. GRRM annoys me enough with it. I'm not saying the book should not be dark or have grim storylines but I usually want my heroes to be heroes i.e good guys by and large even if they have faults. This is why I disliked the Joe Abercrombie First law Trilogy. Give me classic story with a hero trying to be better and I'm good to go.

They only got to the part where he meets Bloodraven. They didnt show his training, the things he saw, what BR told him. I dont like the Greyjoys, but they aren't boring to me. Especially Asha. I loved her chapters.

As much as I love bran I don't think they would do a parallel season and base it on me or show his training montage as that kind of thing doesn't translate well to tv. Same thing with greyjoys, the messed up dorne in d show so expecting better for d greyjoys is a dream. Lets b honest ppl don't really care abt them, they r shi t and their story is shi t well except wen dey decide to go meet dany, anoda character wit a shi t story.

Definitely a continuation. For one actors contracts will not allow that kind of storytelling and two the greyjoys are really boring and I don't think the show runners could make them any better than the martells, also Bran's story has reached the same point in the book.

Couldn't resist giving one lat reply.

I don't see how he would win the throne after sacrificing his daughter. Remember she is his only heir also no great lord is going to support him now either because what he did is completely distasteful that even Roose would tell him it was a bad thing to do and lets not forget the last king they rebelled against, the Mad King who also had a fondness for burning people. Nobody is going to support a man that can burn his only child especially when they recall Aerys. Last thing, now the faith has a lot of power amongst the smallfolk and that is another faction he just alienated. Apart from his almost mutinous army, he has lost every support he might have gotten. So yeah he wins this battle but he has lost the war.

it is not really unfair, Stannis is a lot of people favorite character. What would you say if out of the blue they have Jon Snow rape a character or have Arya fall in love with Meryn Trant? That is exactly the same way Stannis fans feel about him burning his daughter.

No oh, the guy thought the synopsis was on a poster.

seriously tho, minemrys no need to be a dick.

Here's the synopsis

Fearing the actions of a god-like super hero left unchecked, Gotham City’s own formidable, forceful vigilante takes on Metropolis’s most revered, modern-day savior, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs. And with Batman and Superman at war with one another, a new threat quickly arises, putting mankind in greater danger than it’s ever known before.

Eh gj22 it was still out of character for show Stannis. Remember when he told Mel that he wasn't going to burn his daughter or every single scene this season between him and his daughter or better yet the story where he brought every doctor he could find from all over the world to save his daughter even when everyone told him it was impossible. Does that sound like a guy that would turn around and sacrifice her?

The writers just went Oh this would be a very shocking scene and get people mad like every other episode nine so lets do it. To top it off their justification for doing it was stupid.

Anyway enough of about that, anybody else think the foreshadowing with Olly is getting a bit too much.

Yes Shireen is going to be burnt but Stannis isn't going to be the cause, remember he left her behind in Castle Back with Mel like the sensible person he is in the books. GRRM isn't going to shit on Stannis character to make it happen. That is where the idiot showrunners got it wrong.

The thing is still seriously annoying me and for the first time I'm considering abandoning the show and just waiting for the books.

“Well that sounds like the most ominous thing I’ve heard.” I say, partly in jest as I try to numb the fear that is creeping through me. Nobody thought it funny, in fact nobody paid any attention to me.

“Really child? And one would think someone like you would know despair.” The thing, I can’t call it man because of the sheer otherness it exudes, replies.

It seemed like my life story has reached even the creatures of the forest. How charming.

“Baba, please what do you mean by you’ve been waiting for us for a long time?’ Sade asks, her voice oddly contrite as she curtseys in greeting. That raises my eyebrows, in all the years I’ve known her she has never curtseyed for anyone, not even the Kankanfo when he visited.

“Ah, Good, good it seems like at least one of you know how to show the proper respect.” The thing says as it turns to away in a manner expecting us to follow.

“Baba but you haven’t answered the question.” Makinde says softly as he shifts from one feet to the other. His body showing the restless sign of nervousness.

“It is not the place of the youth to question the elders.____”.

I stop hearing what his saying and only static fills my ears as he switches to the forgotten language. His command of it is stronger than anything
I’ve heard and considering what I heard on that fateful night it is worrying.

What is more worrying though is what suddenly happens to Makinde, his red skinlike armor covering him suddenly peals from his body taking huge quantities of his actual skin with it. Blood gushes from hat is left of his body. His screams rent the air and the rest of us are too stunned to react.

It is over just as quickly as everything returns to normal. Makinde is standing there with his face squeezed in agony but nothing has happened to him. His red skin armor is still on and he isn’t bleeding from anywhere.

“You should learn to respect your elders or you won’t last long were you are going.” The thing waggles his fingers and he smiles that toothy smile of his. I’m about to say something stupid when Sade grabs my hand and whispers

“Don’t, he isn’t just an ordinary ghommid, he is an Emere. You know, the spiritual and nastier cousins of the ghommids”

That immediately calms me down. An Emere here? I did in fact know what an Emere was and the thought scared me deeply. They were amongst the many creatures ejected from our world alongside the gods when humanity won the Red War. To find one out and about near human settlement spoke volumes of the security of the breach and it even raises a scarier question, if an Emere could be here what of the gods themselves.

“You understand now child, times a wasting. Let us hurry up, you wouldn’t want to be late now would you?”

A.N: The part is too short for my liking, blame Game of Thrones. Watched ep 9 while taking a break from writing and was to annoyed to get back into writing.
Also, a friend drew my attention to the fact that in my last AN, I might have come off as rude. If that is the case I apologize whitemosquito.

Okay seriously I really hated this episode of GoT. What they did with Stannis was unbelievably dumb and out of character for the man. Yes he is resolved and stubborn but he would never in a million years sacrifice Shireen like that. He is a man of high morals are taking the nd in the books the people he actually allowed to be burnt are those who ran afoul of his laws personally. What they just did was to make him the most despicable character on the show, even the boltons and freys are better than him at this point, at least they didn't sacrifice family for ambition. it wasn't even a pragmatic decision as no one in westoros will support a King that burns his on daughter alive, it is too similar to Aerys for anyone to stomach it.

Really disappointed in the direction they are taking the show and outright livid with what they've done to StannisTheMannis.

Edit: Just learnt the idea for the very stupid scene was given GRRM himself. This suggests something similar happening in the book, like maybe Mel and Selyse sacrificing Shireen to bring back Jon.

Are there really any Sansa fan? She has been the most useless character on the so far and granted it wasn't mostly her fault she is still very useless. Nothing about her character so far suggests anything fan worthy. If anything I'll believe there are people who are fans of the pain and suffering she goes through.

It is a bummer that Nick Fury won't appear in Civil War. His character is so important that him not showing up would be hard to explain, what could he possibly be doing that he won't show up.

Star-Lord is just delusional if he thinks he can take on Cap even with rocket's help, He may be the space version of the guy but he is not even close in skill or anything to the Captain.

I've just finished reading your story and I must admit it was a great read. The slow build up and world building are exceptional. The quality of what has been written can be compared favorably with published fantasy novels and if it maintains this quality to the end it would be a real gem.

I will be following this story closely and really hope it ends up published as Nigeria needs great stories like this.

The last of the night fades away as the sun rises majestically, the morning light transforming the horrors of the forest into something truly beautiful. The colors of the forest being illuminated by the rays of the sun was something to behold. This was still not enough to wash away the tenseness in the group.

The bush babies had closed ranks immediately after Tope stopped screaming. Tolu and Tola both flanking her and were sitting beneath the Iroko tree. They were talking in whispers, in some ways oblivious to the world changing around them as dawn continued to break. They were also in many was a contrast to the other group standing together. Makinde, James and Bankole stood facing each other and engaged in a furious argument that was also carried in whispers. Beyond the age difference both groups had several striking difference, the compaderie for one. The younger group had a trust borne of living together and being in so many ways more than a family something similar to what I would describe my relationship with Sade as when compared with the older group, the men were drawn together by only a mutual goal and a keen distrust for one another and that partnership has been sorely tested by our recent misfortunes. The same situation that had caused the bush babies to pull together had caused the men who had been drinking and laughing the night before to be at the edge of their swords.

It was not the only relationship being tested here. Since our discussion Sade has pretty much been keeping to herself, taking Olodumare knows what notes in that journal she brought here. It wasn’t exactly visible but she was also tense, the way her shoulders were hunched and the way she kept staring off for a few seconds at a time told the story of just how hard a time she was having keeping it together. Whatever she was hiding from me must be pretty huge. That is another thing that is wrong with this trip and we have not even really started.

The argument apparently is over when Makinde makes his way to where the rest of us were resting and begins clearing his throat. The look on James face shows that he isn’t at all happy with whatever consensus that has been reached. Bankole’s face has returned to its default setting, a blank face so I can’t really tell from his face how he feels about what has been decided, his body posture however suggests that he isn’t going to be jumping for joy anytime soon, not that I could really tell, it could just as easily be his normal stance towards everything.

“So it appears we are off to a rough start.” He begins, his voice filled with that nasal quality that used to amuse me but right now it is just plain annoying. “and some of us have been a bit injured.” He continues. This time looking nervously at Tope, who takes time away from her pain to shoot him a look of pure evil.

“but that shouldn’t even deter us, we are perhaps one of the greatest expedition ever launched into this forest from this side of the law.” The incredulous looks most of us are shooting him just makes him pick up the tempo. “no joke, from the best guides one can get into this part of the forest, I mean there is no one alive who can say they have stayed longer in the forest than the Bush babies. Was it 11, 12 years?”

“13 years.” Tola speaks up form where she is tending to Tope’s hand.

“Yes, and we have amongst us an Aja-Orun, the guild created by Kankanfo Fadeyi himself during the Red night, the best of the best when it comes to spiritual combat. A member of the Ife Research Institute so there is precious little than we won’t be able to know how to deal with. A former apprentice Ode that was well on his way to beating the record held in that circle for the most distinguished trainee before his unfortunate incident.”

At this a frown covers my face.

“And someone who is an expert on the very creatures we are to bargain with.”

James as an expert? That is really pushing it. Sade voices my unspoken reservations

“Him really? Surviving the massive disaster that was the failed diplomatic mission does not make one an expert. Besides how are we sure they don’t also hate him.” She says as she puts her journal away and puts her full attention on him.

“Well he did survive, that has to count for something. Besides with what we have here, I daresay there isn’t anyone more capable of this mission and if that doesn’t appeal to your pride. Think of the money involved."

“Well the money involved didn’t talk of us taking along an idiot with the stench of enmity of the hordes of Aja-Oros that litter the forest in abundance.”Tolu growls angrily.

“Deal with it, Olodumare knows I’m paying you Bush babies more than enough for it. Or do you want to pull out now?” he replies as a sinister glint slowly crawls up his voice.

The early morning chirping of the forest is his reply.

His voice gains confidence and he turns to face us all.

“As for that matter, anyone else want to quit. I think not. So let’s get dust off the bad start and get ready to move. The beginning of the Journey doesn’t matter, only the end is important.”

“Well spoken, boy.”

At this everyone in the clearing is immediately at alert. My ada is already out, Tolu already has his remaining axe out as he slides in front of Tope with Tola following as she brings out her ada, Bankole has his super-sized hammer hefted on his shoulder waiting to swing, even Makinde already has the red goo or whatever it was that was covering his body, James…well almost everybody was on alert. James looked excited or at least a close approximation to it. It was strange as it was the first time that kind of expression has crossed his face since we entered the forest.

The figure that spoke resembled a small child but its bearing marked it definitely as not. The first thing I noted about its presence was the folded mat it was carrying. It was wearing a red agbada that should have looked ridiculous on it but instead it suited it. A lot of beads of varying colors and thickness covered its neck, head, hands and legs. Its head was shaved clean but for a single strand of hair that ran down its face. The face itself was filled with several tribal marks that I could not decipher. I could feel the power that rolled off it as the forest seemed to bend to accommodate its nature.

“Well what are you waiting for, the elders are expecting you.” It says an impatient looks crosses it face.

It dawns on me that I’m looking at a Ghommind. One of the mystical creatures that came to inhabit our world with us when we chased the gods away.

“Expecting us?” James loses his excitement at this. Even the bush babies look scared at its statement.

The Ghommind voice has a musical quality to it as his reply carries round the forest.

“Why yes. We’ve been waiting for you for a long time.” It says with a smile and yet somehow it sounds like the most ominous thing I’ve heard.

A.N: RL has kept offline for a while but that has been sorted out. Thanks for the offer whitemosquito. I've sent a pm.
