European Union, EU regulators today approved the merger of two major communication platforms, Facebook and WhatsApp, arguing that Facebook’s $19 billion purchase of the mobile messenger, WhatsApp, would not hamper competition. EU Competition Commissioner, Joaquin Almunia, noted in a statement that, “while Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp are two of the most popular apps, most people use more than one communications app,” “We have carefully reviewed this proposed acquisition and come to the conclusion that it would not hamper competition in this dynamic and growing market. “Consumers will continue to have a wide choice of consumer communications apps.” It will be recalled that US regulators had approved the acquisition in April, but warned Facebook that it had to abide by WhatsApp’s stringent privacy practices. The social networking giant announced the acquisition of WhatsApp in February. According to the European Commission which is EU’s executive organ, the Smartphone app is one of the most popular messaging platforms in cyberspace, with 600 million users worldwide. The instant messaging service, popular in Europe, Latin America and parts of Asia, allows users to send text, pictures and video messages to anyone with the app. Facebook, with 1.3 billion users, has its own texting app, known as Facebook Messenger, but the commission upon discovery that the two services are “not close competitors” approved the merger.http://dailypost.ng/2014/10/03/eu-regulators-endorse-facebook-whatsapp-merger/ |
Despite outcries from younger Nigerians that Senate President, David Mark should bow out of the National Assembly after over a decade, former minister of state for education, Professor Jerry Anthony Agada is of the opinion that Nigerians need to thank the Idoma people for giving them a ‘worthy’ son like Mark. Agada also added that the endorsement of Mark by members of his senatorial district for fifth term was in favour of Nigerians. Speaking with newsmen in Makurdi, the Benue State capital, the Orokam-born writer, who also doubles as a special assistant to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Chairman, Adamu Mu’azu, said the presence of Mark at the national assembly had stabilized the nation’s democracy. “The reason for the endorsement is that the much expected acrimonies that may arise as a result of cut-throat competition will be eliminated as far as PDP is concerned. “Nigerians should appreciate us (Idoma) for consenting to give them David Mark, who is performing creditably well to keep the country united”, he said. The ex-guber candidate in Benue State noted that those complaining about the long stay of Mark at the Senate were selfish individuals looking out for personal gains and not the interest of the people, stressing that many Nigerians craved for Mark’s continuity for the stability of the nation. “What we want as Nigerians is a situation where our democracy can be sustained, a situation where development can be brought into the country and a situation where people will feel happy that things are going on very well. I think that is the representation that David Mark is giving to the country”, he added.http://dailypost.ng/2014/10/03/nigerians-need-thank-idoma-allowing-david-mark-run-fifth-term-jerry-agada/ |

dapachez: Tortoise you can lie oh. When I wake up I will answer you. I have lived all my life in edo state and when I left 6 yrs ago it was a sorry sight but when I came in december I was held in awe at the transformation. How many paces have pipe borne water? I attended edo college in the 90's and there was never pipe borne water except the bore hole. I stayed at medical stores road and adolor college road the water situation was on and off that we had to use jerry cans to go look for water over long distances, till we moved to ubth quaters where there was nothing like tap water as the hospital had its bore hole supply. Does water board function well in benin? Go and take statistics a lot of houses have bore hole supply and provide for their neighbours.some sell while others give freely. The bore hole in my house at isihor supplies my neighbours who don't have the means to won one and its for free.In my street alone over 20 houses have bore holes. Go check out the road network the interlinking roads,go check out the way he is trying to fix five junction up. Did the previous administration do even a quater of what Oshiomole did in just four years and still counting. I aint holding forte for him but for God's sake when you see progress or something tangible been done, try and appreciate it. All these achievements aint a big deal cos its what the people deserve good roads, water and electricity. That said for the street lights I can't say much cos I don't go out at night and if I may ask has there ever been a time when street light worked in benin after oyegun era? The only street light I ever knew worked are the ones at ring road while the ugbowo uselu axis is always off and onyou better not wakeup from your deluded dream.... |

Muslims in Lagos State say there is no going back on their demand for the use of hijab in schools. Speaking under the auspices of Muslim groups at a Press Conference on Wednesday in Lagos, they said their votes would be determined by the candidate’s stand on hijab. According to the groups, “The slogan of Muslims for Lagos 2015 is ‘No Hijab, No Vote’. Hijab here is a symbol of respect for the way of life of Muslims and a commitment by politicians to accept the legitimate demands of Muslims. “These demands will be tabled before candidates when they meet leaders of Islamic organizations. “Let us reiterate that no secret meeting with any individual leader, no matter how credible, will be acceptable to Lagos Muslims. Individual leaders of Islamic organizations are therefore given the caveat in this regard- do not meet any political candidate alone on behalf of Lagos Muslims. A word is enough for the wise”.source http://dailypost.ng/2014/10/01/2015-hijab-voting-lagos-muslims-insist/ |
Governor Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo State on Thursday formally defected from the Labour Party to the Peoples Democratic Party. Mimiko led two members of the National Assembly from the state, all the 26 members of the state House of Assembly, all members of the State Executive Council and his supporters to the PDP. He made the formal declaration at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, at an event presided over by Vice President Namadi Sambo. “I, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, following extensive consultations across the land, today finally announce the decision of members of the National Assembly from the LP in Ondo State, members of the LP in the Ondo State, members of the LP in the Ondo State House of Assembly, members of the State Executive Council and indeed all those who share our aspirations, to join the PDP,” Mimiko told the gathering that included the President of the Senate, David Mark; Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan of Delta State and leaders of the PDP from the South-West. He said his decision to return to the PDP arose after a period of consultation with major stakeholders in the state, including traditional and religious leaders, market men and women, artisans, trade unions and community as well as party leaders. The governor, who was in the PDP before the 2007 governorship election, where he contested against Dr. Olusegun Agagu, said he took the decision to return to PDP in the overall interest of his people and the nation., as well as its democracy. Mimiko said his immediate target was to help the process of getting President Goodluck Jonathan re-elected in 2015. Mark, in his remarks, said he was happy that Mimiko decided to return from his “self-exile.” He said it was the desire and wish of the party leadership that the governor reconciles everybody within the party.source:punchnewspaper |

The Argentina international is now available to make his debut for the former Premier League champions in their next game, against Queens Park Rangers on Sept. 14. The 24-year-old joined United from Sporting Lisbon for 16 million pounds on Aug. 20 but was ineligible for their games against Sunderland, MK Dons and Burnley while he waited for a British work permit. Rojo had to leave the United Kingdom to go to the British embassy in Madrid but now the Border Agency has ruled he can have a visa. A statement on United's official website said Rojo had qualified for a work permit automatically "by virtue of having played in more than 75 percent of Argentina's competitive internationals over the last two years." The defender had to wait after his Argentina teammate Angel Di Maria, who joined United after him, played at Burnley. Former Real Madrid star Di Maria possesses an Italian passport as one of his grandparents is from Italy, which made it easier for him to move to a British club. Rojo's availability means United could give as many as four of their summer signings debuts against QPR. Deadline-day recruits Radamel Falcao and Daley Blind ought to be in contention while United are waiting to see if Luke Shaw, who has been sidelined, recovers from his hamstring injury in time to feature. |

There will always be a prettier girl, a skinnier girl, a smarter girl, a better girl. Even the girls you compare yourself to compare themselves to other girls out there. They might think you're the one who's better than them and they might be the ones who wish they had your traits and features. Don't ever sell yourself short because you also have a lot to offer as well. You may feel jealous when you look upon other girls, but to someone else out there, you are the cause of their envy. You may feel like you're not good enough to the guy you're into, but to someone else out there, you are everything he would want in a girl. You may feel like you have a lot of things that are wrong with you, but to someone else out there, you are perfectly fine the way you are. Hope this made you feel better. Sincerely, a guy who cares |
mohims: Who is Oyedepo? Is he jet owner who makes money from his church members? Oh now I remember! He is the one who parades himself as a bishop. God will judge himthere is no need for God to judge because u've already pre-judged him.for ur above comment,u are as guilty as himself......same goes for me too |

A girl puts up a picture of herself and it's revealing. We are talking cleavage, butt cheeks hanging out, seductive expression on her face etc. A guy comments on it and says "You are so sexy/hot/beautiful etc" and the girl would either comment on that picture or make a new status saying "Guys are so thirsty these days!". Then, everyone would agree that he's thirsty and starts bashing on him, while she's the one putting it all out there. How the Bleep does that make sense? |
