Crude oil was discovered in Oloibiri in Ogbia LGA in Bayelsa State in 1956 till date Nigeria has poor accounting in the volume of crude oil

This is long overdue since crude oil was discovered in the Niger Delta in 1956 till date no company or individual or corporate body has actually given us the accurate volume of crude oil extracted.
It has always been estimated.
Lots of it was stolen.
Sometime ago, GEJ once said in a public forum while the President that it's only in Nigeria 🇳🇬 that crude oil would be stolen on high sea and nobody would know its destination.
Well it's a good development.

The Federal Government has stepped up efforts to strengthen accountability and transparency in Nigeria’s crude oil sector with the inauguration of a Gravimetric Multifaceted Flow Metering Calibration Facility in Eket, Akwa Ibom State, by the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC).

It also signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the International Energy Agency (IEA) to strengthen cooperation on methane emissions reduction, gas development, clean cooking access and technical support.

The Eket facility, described as the first of its kind in West Africa, is expected to address a long-standing industry challenge surrounding crude measurement accuracy, a problem that has historically contributed to disputes among operators, revenue leakages and reliance on overseas laboratories for calibration services.

Speaking at the commissioning, the Chief Executive of NUPRC, Oritsemeyiwa Eyesan, commended Engineering Automation Technology Limited, the indigenous firm that developed the facility, for its vision, courage and patriotism in investing in the state-of-the-art project.

Eyesan, who was represented by the Deputy Director for Development, Manuel Ibituroko, described the plant as “a transformative leap forward”, noting that it features zero-touch automation, tamper-proof audit trails, and high-precision gravimetric standards designed to eliminate human error and minimise downtime.

According to the Commission, the facility can calibrate turbine, ultrasonic, Coriolis, electromagnetic and positive displacement meters, critical devices used to determine volumes of crude flowing through pipelines and export terminals, thereby improving operational efficiency, regulatory compliance and production optimisation across the industry.

Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Engineering Automation Technology Limited, Dr Emmanuel Okon, said the project emerged from Nigeria’s local content drive after indigenous companies were encouraged in 2020 to build technical capacity within the country.

It may not, the reason is that if we are producing goods and services, those goods will now be sold at a cheaper price meaning that people will start to earn lesser. Yes prices of cars, phones TVs, machine tools etc will fall but farmers for instance who export their products will now earn less. FAAC too will now share less money monthly.

To me it's very safe, in the cities like the poster above me suggested it depends on how you keep your body. Be friendly, go to the regular open markets yourself. People won't know there are several foreigners who do this in PH, no body send them because there's absolutely nothing to attract attention.

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has declared that his decision to embrace what critics describe as “weakness” was driven by the need for peace and survival, as he dedicated his Man of the Year award to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
Speaking while receiving his award at the New Telegraph Award/Dinner Night in Lagos on Friday , Fubara delivered an emotional reflection on leadership, political pressures, and reconciliation.

“Today for me is a very special day, and also special for everyone who has believed in me, and I know for believing in me, you have a share of special pain,” the governor said.

Addressing the prolonged political tensions that have defined Rivers State’s governance landscape, Fubara stated that his approach had often been misunderstood.
