EducationTimetable For Ict Training For Fresh Undergraduate Students Of Obafemi Awolowo by SaintRobs(op): 9:43pm On Aug 18, 2014
The pivotal role of the university in producing the levels of human capital required for countries to succeed in the globalised ‘information economy’ has been expressed in terms of higher education’s ability to provide the labour market with information-aware and information-adept graduates. Developments in multimedia, increased communications and other ICT innovations are obviously key components of the information economy. Thus, it is imperative for the Obafemi Awolowo University that prides itself as the leading ICT University in Nigeria to empower her students.
The ICT training for fresh undergraduate students aims to impart basic ICT skill into the students right from the onset of their educational career in OAU. New ICT initiatives are being introduced to the University. These include: student e-mail services, smart classrooms, multimedia driven lecture delivery, intra-university voice communication ‘Keedu’, increasing online engagement, course registration, TCC project, e-assessment, inter-university online collaboration (OAU and Unilag) and techno-preneurship. These are in addition to various existing services such as online meetings and interviews via telepresence and videoconference, advanced search, e-library, internet access etc.
These services require basic ICT skill to navigate and derive maximum benefit. The purpose of this training is therefore to educate the newly admitted students on Information and Communication Technology (ICT) as they will continue to apply the skills acquired from the training throughout their stay in Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) and after their first degree education. The training attracts its own ‘Certificate of Participation’ therefore eliminating the need for the students to patronise road side computer schools after graduation in desperate search for certificate of computer training which today is a pre-requisite for job placement in most organisations.

EducationMeet The Indian Teenager Who Is Now The Youngest Girl To Climb Mt. Everest by SaintRobs(op): 6:13am On Aug 18, 2014
13-year-old Indian, Malavath Poorna has successfully climbed to the top of Mount Everest, making the teenager the youngest girl to garner the achievement.
Poorna whose parents are poor farmers was chosen from a group of disadvantaged children for a government program to inspire young people.
She had never taken a step on a mountain before taking this challenge.
They had to take the hard way from the Tibetan side, a 52-day trek that included some of the steepest climbs on the mountain and some of the most perilous.
Even while Purna was there, an avalanche on the other side of the mountain killed 16 Sherpa guides, triggering a labor dispute that threatened to abandon climbers on the mountain.
“My instructors told me I’d see dead bodies on the way to the summit. I knew every step was dangerous. I just carried on climbing,” Purna told the media on Wednesday in New Delhi after hoisting the Indian flag at the peak of Mount Everest.

EducationRe: Suspected Masteminder Of Awo Hall Inferno! (photo) by SaintRobs(op): 12:03am On Jul 14, 2014
Here is the full details of how the suspect was caught:
A TERRORIST or a MAD MAN. At the eve of Sunday a non-student of Obafemi Awolowo who called himself Adedayo Razak Daniel was caught while practicing his finesse in Awolowo hall specifically (Awo annex) by a student who acted as a sentinel while he was coming from church, he allegedly accused the suspect when he discovered some vagaries & incoherence in his actions, he said he saw him perambulating Awo hall later went to Annex, furthering his account he said he saw the suspect try opening the first, second & third rooms which were locked which made him proceed to another room which was not locked, on opening the door to proceed in he looked back to verify if there is any onlooker taking a glance of him, this made his eyes coincides with that of the witness who stayed afar watching his dramas, the witness immediately questioned him but he pretended to feign insanity by the virtue of uttering incoherent words & rhythmical mumbo jumbo. The querying which went on led to the arousal & alertness of other students in the vicinity, thoroughly scrupulous investigation of the suspect really exacerbated the scenario with the discovery of a sack containing petrol filled bottle perforated at the cover for easy spraying, old-rusted stove, used recharge cards & some old newspaper in which phone numbers were scribbled on, all these were insinuated as paraphernalia for the accomplishment of his diabolic missions. On his entire body were found some indellible marks that are simillar which suggest it might be given either by turture or initiation into a sect but he claimed not knowing how they got there. Students took the issue up & verdict was made that the suspect masterminded the fire breakdown incidence which unleashed at the hour students were watching the world cup(Argentina against Holland). They even prognosticate that the suspect is on his way to accomplish his mission tonight while students are out to watch the final world cup match if not that he was caught. Until the suspect was tortured & disciplined till he confessed himself as an indigene of Osun State from Ila local government Akoi compound, he claimed he enrolled for police recruitment exam but was not enlisted & left in the bush wandering around & later embarked on the sale of recharge cards which were found with him, all these cards were tested by students & found to be already used. He was later enquired about the petrol in which he denied being petrol but kerosene, furthermore he claimed to always prepare kerosene, when the constituent of the bottle filled to the brim was inspected & analyzed it really baffles to know it contains not only petrol but paraffin, oil & other combustible hydrocarbons which prevents the detection of the odour of burning substances. It petrifies when he said he knows about the room burnt down & included that he was forced to stay in the room by some business men. Buttressing his point with little insanity he said he wanted to roast corn with the fuel & that at the night of the incidence, precisely 11p.m he went to Sabo Lagere to buy corn. Some student argued the fact that he was sent by school management to find an excuse to forcefully send students out in order to prevent them from disrupting the upcoming post-utme. He was taken to available mangement official to give report then later handed over to the police for futhereance of investigation. This is apparently clear that students of OAU have no involvement in despotism & vandalism, we are intellectuals & diplomatic in our actions. Give your comment but dont forget that you are entitled to your opinion!

EducationBreaking:asup Suspends Her 11months Old Strike! by SaintRobs(op): 12:16pm On Jul 12, 2014
The lecturers had been on strike since October last year.
The Academic Staff union of Polytechnics, ASUP, has suspended its 10-month-old strike.
The strike, which started in October 2013, was suspended on Saturday morning at the National Executive Council, NEC, meeting of the union held in Abuja.
The National Publicity Secretary of ASUP, Clement Chirman, confirmed the suspension of the strike to PREMIUM TIMES.
He said all striking lecturers have been directed to resume work on Tuesday.
The ASUP NEC meeting was held two days after the leadership of the union held a ‘fruitful’ meeting with the new Education Minister, Ibrahim Shekarau, who was sworn in by President Goodluck Jonathan on Wednesday.
The ASUP NEC consists of all chapter (polytechnic) chairmen of the union and the national executive of the body.

Now that your posts has been retrieved, let the tutorial begin! Thumbs up bro!
Jodekss: 'Look', 'see' and 'watch' can easily confuse people because they all related to actions done with our eyes. The difference between the three verbs:
Look - to look at something for a reason, with an intention.
‘Look at that strange man.’
‘Look at the pictures I took on holiday.’
See -to ‘see’ something that comes into our sight that we weren’t looking for.
‘Did you see that bird? – I wasn’t looking for it, it just appeared.
‘I saw you driving to work today.’
Watch - to look at something carefully, usually at something which is moving.
‘Watch TV’- the TV doesn’t move, but you watch the moving images carefully.
‘Watch where you are going! You almost stepped on my foot!’
