Distance learning and Open Universities are now integral parts of the education system. Even traditional brick-and-mortal universities are heavily leaning towards distancing learning now. Nigeria now has over 4 of such: National Open University Iconic Open University Miva Open University Unique Open University Great one. |
ednut1:Eh, this is quite revealing o. So that means those names closes more doors than it opens? |
sammirano2:You people should stop this nonsense comparison already. The above has been voided over and over. Being made to unnecessarily suffer to get a good grade is not a mark of quality. |
jmoore:It's very annoying when figures are dished out, yet there's no proper methodology as to how they came about those figures. |
jaxxy:If your assertion is right, then why has the US not toppled Paul Biya of Cameroon? |
I hope it's not a ruse to pacify Nigerians ahead of the proposed "House Insurance" early next year? You didn't build the house for the landlord, they provide their electricity and power themselves yet you want to impose a silly tax on Nigerians. While at it, I know some landlord too can be painfully wicked too, but regulating the price of a basic necessity as housing may backfire. Had you people built public housing across Nigeria, especially in the tier 1 states, this would have been easy to implement. |
This is very inaccurate, it's borderline fictitious. Homelessness is not an epidemic in Nigeria. No matter how bad things are, you'll still be able to squat with someone. Majority of the homeless people you see are mostly mentally unstable people. In Nigeria, even beggars have homes! |
Wow. To migrate to the UK by study route is now really risky. 30-70M is no joke abeg. Besides UK Masters is now a dime a dozen in the country. It no longer guarantees any lucrative opportunity. |
Larryfest:Now here's someone who thinks deeply and logically. Thanks for this comment. |
Alcohol itself is already a poison to the body. Spiking it with Methanol is an outright intent to kill. NAFDAC has long banned Methanol even as an ingredient in cosmetics. It's still being used in Nigeria due to it being much more affordable than ethanol. |
LeeSmart:Where and when was such agreement made? His immediate past predecessor also had a Muslim deputy. So what exactly did Bago changed? |
Sonnobax15:Thank God Oga Sonno is a logical being. The truth is that the only thing this current "Israel" shares is the name and nothing at all. These ones are assimilated Jews not ethnic Jews. There's nothing Godly about them; they are vile, evil, barbaric and support all things that the holy scriptures of the ancient patriarchs opposed. Their paid "Hazbara" bots and agents are swimming all over Nairaland with funny and newly registered nickname. The pulpit bandits in Nigeria do not help matters att all Very evil people. Nobody with a shred of faith and human consciousness will ever support them. |
Gbadugbakun:Okay, now you agree that it's a federal university with full national spread, as against your earlier statement. That's fine. |
Ashirioluwa:We are both on the same page and saying the same thing. I think you intend to correct the user @ Gbadugbakun who made that wrong assertion that the institution is a "national" university and not a "federal" one. |
Belawy:PGD is done in Nigeria and beyond when: —You are switching disciplines. —You didn't meet the requisite score for the advance degree you intend to pursue. It has nothing to do with the value or quality of NOUN certificate. |
Gbadugbakun:Is the the university not owned and funded by the Federal Government? Then why is it solely a "national" university and not a "federal" university? |
I don't understand, is NOUN itself not a federal university? Same NOUN material was heavily used during my undergraduate studies in my university then and other unis too. They arguably have some of the best teaching materials in West Africa. It seems the certificate is even more respected internationally than in Nigeria. We need to tone down all these perception jabs. NOUN has directly produced countless PhD holders itself, and the certificate has been used to pursue opportunities across the world. NOUN itself is highly suitable for PhD studies due to the quality of it's faculties. Most departments are choke-full with Profs and high-ranking academics. All these queries bordering on recognition and perception ought to have ended at least a decade ago. If you prefer independent study or due to work or other commitment you can't attend a traditional university, then NOUN is perfect. |
hafeeanubasy:THE and QS rankings are highly subjective and can be gamed. Yes, all those universities and good and reputable, but the rankings system has a lot of failings. It is an open secret that on the international scale, these rankings are usually in favour of English-speaking universities as against non-English speaking ones. How was THE or QS able to effectively quantify the worth and position of a university, say in Vietnam as against the one in Australia? Do they know the mind-blowing findings and research undertaking in some of these "nameless universities"? Wha they lack is "noise-making" and "visibility". In another instance if the same metrics is used to rank a purely traditional university vs an open university there will be huge bias in favour of the former. So the question remains, how were non-traditional universities (Military, Open, Online etc) ranked, or don't they matter in the whole ranking system? For prospective students, take these rankings as references. It does not fully define the worth of any institution and make your own independent choice abeg. Many of us went to both "nameless" and "reputable" institutions, yet we know what's up. |
erad:Short but powerful submission. Nostalgia can be a powerful delusion. We all like to romanticize the past thinking all was perfect, dandy and everybody was living in bliss. Nothing can be more further from the truth. Living in the past always deprives us of fully living in the present. The past is one big mirage, and the future is also an illusion. What really matters is "now". The truth is every time, era, century, millennium all had their good and bad times too. None is rose-tinted like we all think it to be. |
WizardOfNG:I totally understand your position. The bold wasn't directed to you or anyone else. It was just a generic remark. Point taken. |
WizardOfNG:Which talent was lost in Nigeria? Nigeria gave her the fame, clout and recognition before she was able to bag the Rwandan job. However beyond all these, there's a WHOLE LOT than meet's the eye in the Nigerian Corporate and Academic Settings. |
descarado:She's wasn't made in Rwanda sir. She grew her career to the top in Nigeria before getting the Rwandan appointment. |
blackmantis:Gang life is no life at all. Hip-hop in the 80s and 90s was less talk, more violence. 2Pac, Biggie Smallz, Big L etc all paid the supreme price and their "kpeme" probably has "Diddy" written all over it directly or indirectly. Man knows too much and has done too much. But now, it's more talk, less violence. Better for Black America. |
Kingsnairaland:Lolzz. Like LordAdam will say, their is a price for treachery. You can't keep sitting on the fence, backstab others, befriend enemies and not expect to see shege. |
WriteerNg:These thieves simply want to turn Venezuela into South America's free gas station, without the weapons of course. I trust Venezuelans not to be as myopic as Libyans. They better back Maduro and fight with everything they have. |
ibechris:Oga Ibe, you wey get house for every corner .I'll rather pay 2.5M in Abuja where one has a chance to get various opportunities. I'll rather do that than for me to pay such in a dead town where only Yahoo-Yahoo, prostitution, drugs and scam thrives. |
Rexymania:You dey mind them? The same extreme greed was part of what made those oil companies to flee Delta State. Charging "arm robber" rent as if it's every year that the landlord builds or renovates the house. Too outrageous! 2.5M rent in a country where 77k minimum wage has not been implemented. Anyways like the poster rightly said, Yahoo boys are the target, and the consequences for encouraging them will dawn on the society. |
LordBiden:Debt is something that's not to be trifled with. Both Muslims and Christians believe that there's life after death. Then what makes you think that you'll escape justice and not pay back if you owe anyone? God forgives, but is every human capable of forgiving? What makes you think that if you hold on to someone's wealth and you don't pay back, you'll be left off the hook? God is Just. No matter what you believe in, if you don't pay back now, you'll DEFINITELY pay it later, and you won't be paying with fiat currency then, but a far more precious currency. That's why I advised that if there's any debt on ground, he'll be doing his beloved brother a great service if it's paid either from the deceased's wealth or he finds a way to offset it. |
I am so so sorry brother @IceColdVeins. That's to show how scary and vain this life is. Be right back please. From his nickname, I can deduce you are Muslims. If I am correct, the best you could do for him now is to immediately reduce your grief and start thinking logically. Because life after death is real, very real! First thing first, after the burial, let them start getting across to his contacts, Whatsapp, banks and co. Check if he's owing anyone or any entity. That should be your first priority. Do a comprehensive check on this please. If he's owing be committed to paying it off for him. Either from his money or look for a way. If he's not owing, that's one big relief. Secondly, tell Dad and others to immediately organize prayers for him. Prioritize the following: —Suratul Ikhlas; —Suratul Mulk; —Suratul Yasin; Then others should also follow. On your own too, seek forgiveness for him as much as you can. Third do charity on his behalf either communal based ones like portable water, or so. If you are not that buoyant, please do smaller one like food donations, money (no matter how little, to his credit). Do this as frequently as you can. Faith is very important here because, we know that the earth is not the only plane of existence. As a matter of fact, earth is like 0.01, the 99.99 of our existence is otherworldly. And a day is coming where we'll definitely see our loved ones again. But seeing them in a good station is of high-priority. And if he's not a Muslim, the best way to honor his memory by through charity, no matter how little. I'm so sorry bro, sending you lots of hugs. |
WriteerNg:Wow! This is really huge!!! |
prinzmenzir:Ah, that skin condition. It's called Hives or Urticaria. It can be very itchy at times. I know exactly how she feels. Preventing the triggers is more effective than cure. And when it comes to Hives, there a lot of potential triggers. They can be dry skin, specific medications, bathing too much hot water, some insect or flower contacts, insect dust, the type of food she eats, coming in contact with some type of latex clothes. Even sometimes the trigger can be autoimmune. This means that the some white cells attack some harmless type of cell in her body and their actions lead to Hives. The first thing she needs to do is do a comprehensive detection of the cause. This is the most important step that she can take. She needs to counter all those things I listed one by one, till she knows the actual trigger. Once gotten it can easily be solved. But if it is not detected, then it's an autoimmune hives. To relieve her symptoms, she can take the normal Piriton tablets. They are excellent in giving her relieve as they are an histamine (itching) blockers. Sorry once again, and I am available to help if you have further questions. |
SeaTrade:Hello @SeaTrade, what you just described is what many Founder-CEOs face everyday. It's a deep structural issue which can be fixed strategically. I can mention several MDs right off the bat who have faced such. It's very important that your friend restructures the business to function without him for lots of reasons: 1. Efficiency 2. Transition 3. Maintaining profitability etc. There has to be a switch, and since it's a trading/FMCG company, it's much more faster to restructure. A company that has a strength of 19 staff can very well run profitability with little involvement of the MD. If that switch doesn't happen now, the MD may just keep working till his twilight years. Which ought not to be so. |

. No human feelings attached at all
