blacksam01:Your advice is mostly sound. However if one has a housewife, wouldn't it be nicer to give her an allowance regularly if he has the capacity. At least it'll help her solve some personal stuffs without needing to ask him every single time. |
iamoyindamola:Yeah, in a way because she's was his godmother. Mama Assata was close to Afeni and they were both connected to the Black Panther movement. Even deeper, they both adopted the name "Shakur", and the later also took a Yoruba name "Olugbala" which means the savior. ![]() The activists of those days were quite fierce ooo |
DissTroy:Exactly, you've brilliantly summed it up. The whole premise of the argument is simple. —There are items are considered as true luxury by EVERYONE, rich or non-rich. —However, luxury is very relative and depends on context. What is luxury to one is basic to another. —Taking Nigeria into context, a "15M Car" is definitely a luxury for most of the population since the citizens can't readily afford it given the poor economic situation. —A simple search on Jiji shows a 2015 Toyota Corolla to be 14-15M plus. This is a basic car for some, but for the majority of the Nigerian population, it'll be considered a luxury. Now worldwide, would this particular car be considered a true luxury, the answer is no, but would it be considered a luxury in Nigeria? The answer is a resounding yes. When something stretches beyond your current financial means or feels like a non-essential indulgence, it becomes a luxury, not necessarily because of the item’s price tag, but because of your economic position at that moment. So I don't get the bragging and pigheadedness. Sheesh! |
izzou:I can't give you a yes or no answer because the question cannot be fully answered in a binary way, so don't try to box me into a corner here. My point is luxury is contextual, and ANYTHING you cannot easily afford at any point in time is a luxury to you regardless of it's worth be it 1k or 1bn. Yes there are certain items which everyone considers true luxury, but the term itself is very subjective and determined by so many things like: education, income status, social/peer group etc. For instance, you earn 5M monthly, a 2010 Toyota Camry would feel like a basic car to you because you can easily afford it. While a 2017 Mercedes will feel like a luxury to you. For someone earning 150k that same 2010 Camry would definitely feel like a luxury to them because they can't easily afford it with their income. In another instance, someone earning north of 70M monthly, a 2017 Mercedes would look like a regular car to them, but a 2025 Range Rover would be a luxury to them. Hope you get the context? What is basic to you is luxury to another and vice versa. So it is well within point, given Nigeria's terrible economic condition to say that a 15M car is a "luxury" to most of the population, and aside a top-tiered career, sought-after freelancer earning in hard currency, a thriving businessperson (all of which represent a tiny % of the population) most cannot afford it without engaging in unsavoury things (e.g stealing public funds, wire fraud, high-class escort etc) to buy it. I hope your question is answered. |
AbokiWam:My Oga, while you're right that things are now very costly, DissTroy is also right that most Nigerians do not earn up to 2M monthly. And I agree with him that luxury is contextual. Anything your income cannot afford is a luxury. Also, Abuja should never be compared to other parts of Nigeria. Prices of cars there are overinflated. Besides do you know how many years some cars spend on the stand before sales? |
iamoyindamola:Thanks much, well appreciated. |
iamoyindamola:I believe it was necessary for it to have a Season 4 due to the storyline essentially revolving around Bumpy Johnson. The series is a quasihistorical one and with the introduction of the Frank Lucas character and Afeni Shakur (Tupac's mother), don't be surprised that it'll renew for season 5. It has been enjoyable so far. Can you recommend any series that's quite similar to it and enjoyable to watch? |
omoredia:Hogwash! Can you bring evidence and proof of this nonsense you just spilled? Nobody is truly anonymous online and you can be ARRESTED for this rubbish. You can be fully prosecuted and charged for: Defamation of character, Inciting public unrest, False publication, Sedition, False accusation of terrorism among many others. If you're not careful, your sorry ass would be spending a long time in jail. Also, if shit hits the fan, none of those you are trying to impress here will show up on your behalf. |
chukkystar:Of all the tragedies going on in the state, should this the priority of that failing governor? Hard working farmers and citizens are being murdered regularly, the whole infrastructure is in a state of disrepair, insecurity is at all-time high and the state can hardly boast of any reasonable industry. Can you really fathom the systemic consequences of those killing to Nigeria's food security? Father Alia is turning out worse than we all thought. |
dominique:Exactly. Kwara State University had been renamed Olusola Saraki University for about a decade now. But the students and institution still actively use KWARA STATE UNIVERSITY. The cost and labour that goes into rebranding is humongous. Plus not everyone would be comfortable with such move. |
TimeManager:They'll finally destroy the pristine state of that Island. Not every oil-rich land must be drilled immediately. Ahaha!!! |
Proudlyngwa:Don't be surprised that he's just a 200-Level medical student. |
Alamkiir:The Houthis are just like the Afghanis. The last thing the US will do is put any boot on ground on behalf of Israel. Those guys are battle-hardened and can go days with little supplies, coupled with the harsh weather conditions. Compare that to the Kool-Aid slurping overfed US army. For those of us that regularly watch NatGeoWild, we know that a lion is more than equipped to kill a Honey Badger, but they'll rather steer clear of the latter's path because the damage would not worth the prize. The Houthis are just like that. They aren’t the most organized army, but they can be as savage as the honey badger, and the scary part is that this conflict is very personal to them. Unlike American soldiers that rely on satellite feeds, night-vision goggles, and air support, the Houthis rely on instincts, dirt roads and goat paths the satellites can’t see. They'll make sure they break that American arrogance. They have demonstrated this by building missiles from scraps and targeting billion-dollar ships with homemade drones. They just don't care how powerful you are or how powerful your military looks on paper. They will make sure they break that illusion. Even Netanyahu knows and he'll rather keep murdering innocent people in Gaza than face the Yemenis head-on. |
WriteerNg:Lolzz. Thousands of those baby-killers have already been sent to their maker. I only pity the so-called reservists who would willingly sacrifice their lives to ensure the crazed Polish Jew extends his blood-soaked regime for a while. |
casualobserver:Very annoying post I tell you. |
2mch:Finally! Someone who understands. "Paper Wealth" is different from actual wealth. The valuation of his wealth is almost solely based on his stocks and valued worth of his companies. This means within the span of 2-3 days, he can go from over $300Bn to $250M if the worth of his stocks crashes. Aside Bill Gates that has cold hard billions in his account, most of those billionaires can hardly boast of $200M cash in their account. When it comes to actual cash, Elon cannot even rank 1-10,000 globally. Only if people know the mind-boggling cash that some people have hidden in various places. |
val4sure:@ Val, your post brims with wisdom and it was enjoyable to read. I'm sure you didn't regret your decision. How did it later went with that lady, and how did you navigated the whole issue? |
Only in the UK could the mighty ambitions of nuclear power be humbled by a bunch of rats. Imagine His Majesty’s Government, with all its pomp, prestige, and powdered wigs, pouring billions into "energy security" just to be sabotaged by some overfed, tea-sipping rodents. Maybe next time, instead of sending out press releases about "Global Britain," they should just send for a Pied Piper. You know things are grim when rats are making faster progress on a nuclear site than the actual contractors. It's almost poetic: centuries of empire-building, naval dominance, and scientific achievement... and in 2025, it's undone by creatures whose greatest ambition is gnawing through a power cable. At this rate, maybe the government should just grant the rats an infrastructure contract. I guessed they’d probably finish the job ahead of schedule and under budget compared to whatever bureaucratic farce is running it now. |

ajalawole:Wow. One or two reports from a far-flung LGA (over 6 hours from Ilorin), and you in the capital are already thinking of relocating. Except maybe your job is remote or something, this is pure cowardice. God forbid you hear any other report of such from a South Western state, would you relocate again? No bastard is entering any forest reserve abeg. I won't be surprised if you think and believe that bandits casually roam the cities in NW and NE. Mind you, related activities have been happening in Oyo and Ondo states and all those bullshit would soon be over. |
WriteerNg:The clowns in Washington and Tel-Aviv still overestimate their prowess and diplomacy. They're even starting to become victims of their own lies and arrogance too. They believe everyone will swallow their craps hook, line and sinker. Whereas nearly every country now has little to zero confidence in the integrity of the US. When they give a good show of faith by inviting the UN to inspect the Israeli Nuclear program and subsequently the latter transfers their warheads to the USA, only them may countries still believe in their integrity. Of course it won't happen, so there'll be zero chances of Iran giving up their program too. The shalaye from Iran is becoming too much. By now as a serious nation, they ought to have ALL US tier-one cities plus Tel-Aviv and Paris in their sight, with tens of nuclear warhead ready to detonate within seconds. Only then will all these bullshit talks from the US and allies end. |
Those who killed children, women, men, bomb hospitals & public places and desecrate the Holy Land at will cannot be trusted to uphold their end of the bargain. Those savages are more animal-like (or even much lower) than humans in their behavior. Heck even animals don't hunt each other with as much hatred as observed from those "Jews" and their supporters. What I'm saying is that the wannabe-jews from Europe cannot be trusted. Anyways it's only a matter of time before they get disgracefully chased off from the Holy Land to their cold, dreary enclaves in Europe. |
Socratiz:This is very painful. I wouldn't be surprised if the same person starts spreading tales about you and your family. These days, you'll hardly help people with out regretting it almost instantly. For those telling others not to expect as much as a simple thanks are just being unrealistic. |
Racoon:This is the ideal standard bro. But we are humans, and we mostly look forward to appreciation in any form. Gratefulness beautifies our character as humans. God Almighty himself wants to receive thanks for the bounties he gives us, not to talk of a mere human. Notice that a lot of the commenters where not explicitly expecting praise, but the show ungratefulness still hurts them somehow. If someone is thankful to God and the people, he'll regularly receive more. But if you're the ungrateful type, even on the your deathbed, many would never want to help you again. |
emmaodet:Exactly, they only changed narrative when they were caught. Russia would not hesitate to destroy any tactical military planning against them. These people don't know that Russia and the US have unmatched Intel system. I believe those killed were majorly a combo of some of Ukraine's commanders and NATO military instructors. |
spiceadole:Madam, with all due respect, I think you should be the one to calm down a bit more. It is very obvious that you had a difficult and painful experience especially as a pregnant woman in NIGERIA having to save for her own delivery. At the very least, you should have been well-taken care of. That man is really selfish. It is a personality flaw and has little to do with his finances. But I must say that your situation, as unfortunate as it is, should not be used as a blanket narrative for all men or marriages. It's not right and insulting to the vast responsible men in Nigeria. That you married a selfish husband does not mean all men are the same. That is your personal reality, not the universal one. And truthfully, it sounds like you married a very unsuitable man. But that should not lead to the conclusion that “men are naturally selfish” or that most husbands hate their wives. That is a dangerous generalization. I personally know, and I’m surrounded by men who take pride in taking care of their wives and families. I'm not talking about a performative or one-time thing. This is something that has been going on for decades. These men, many of whom are well-to-do, have stay-at-home wives, and they still shoulder all responsibilities joyfully, providing allowance, support, love, and emotional care. These women GLOW! So if you’re consistently encountering selfish men, perhaps there’s something wrong in the kind of people you’re attracted to, or accepting. (I'll not be surprised if you're giving off the strong woman vibes too). But to project that onto all men is unfair to the countless husbands who are loving, supportive, and committed to their wives' well-being. So please, your experience, while valid, is not the norm. And it shouldn’t be weaponized against men in general. Thanks. |
dominique:Well written Ma. You definitely know his antics. That dog and his fellow paid agents have long sold their conscience for mere pittance. They work in groups here and use multiple monikers. Those set of European savages masquerading as Jews and desecrating the Holy Land would definitely meet a disgraceful end and chased back to the cold European enclaves they came from. It's not about "if", but "when. |
k4kenny:Thanks for posting a balanced article exposing the terrorist Hesraeli apartheid nation and their paid hypocrites across the world. |
WritterNg:It's getting messier, and the US Consumers are gonna Pay the Price, literally. Trade wars may sound patriotic to MAGAs until iPhone, microwave, or their favorite Nike sneakers starts to costs 20% more. With China retaliating, US companies will struggle to absorb costs and push them to the average Joe, and Karen. Everyone knows tariffs are just a tax in disguise, and this disguise is getting real expensive. With this, Donald Trump's biggest headache would not be external, but internal and when the push comes to shove, he'll not be spared from the wrath of the average Americans who are just trying to survive. |
