The All Progressive Congress (APC) in Rivers State has hailed the performance of immediate past governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi at the Senate on Thursday.

The Rivers chapter of the APC in a statement by the Chairman, Dr. Davies Ibiamu Ikanya, said Amaechi had shunned his critics with his star performance.

According to him, “It can only take a Lion of Niger Delta politics to conduct and comport himself the excellent way he did. Amaechi showed dignified composure and a deep understanding of the dynamics of government. With the star performance of Rt. Hon. Amaechi during the screening, a new star in our national politics is born.”

APC added: “Today, October, 22, 2015, will remain evergreen in the history of democracy in our dear country and particularly to Rivers state and her people because it is a day on which the efforts Chief Nyesom Wike, the Governor of Rivers state to deny Rivers State a slot in the Federal Executive Council fell like a pack of cards.

“We also wish to convey our gratitude to President Muhammadu Buhari for sticking with Amaechi, having seen his sterling qualities and the hollowness of the allegations against him by Wike and his co-conspirators.”

Rivers APC drew a parallel between the Amaechi-Wike drama and the account in the Bible book of Esther Chapter Seven.

According to the party, “In this great book, Haman (Wike) conspired not only against Mordecai (Amaechi) but the entire Jewish people (Rivers state) because of his greed and hatred for a man who saved the King (for installing President Buhari) whom he never wanted the King (Buhari) to appreciate. He Harman (Wike) told a lot of lies through NTA and AIT in order to hang Mordecai (Amaechi) through the illegal judicial panel he set up to try Amaechi but he Haman ended up in the gallows he prepared for Mordecai.

“In Wike’s case, he will eventually end up in the EFCC’s net after failing woefully to defend his corrupt practices when he held sway as Minister of Education under the discredited Goodluck Jonathan administration."

That happened yesterday, 18th September in Brussels and in attendance were the late billonaire's children, family members and friends including Chief Dele Momodu and Pastor Tunde Bakare. President Muhammadu Buhari has broken his silence on his appointments, which many Nigerians have described as “lopsided”.

Buhari in an interview with BBC Hausa on Tuesday said the Constitution allowed him full control over the choice of his closest officials.

The president assured that he was not ignoring some section of his society in his appointments, explaining that those he appointed were some of his most trusted associates.

Responding to the interviewer’s question on the controversy generated by the appointments, Buhari said “This is the nature of Nigerian politics”.

“If they will do justice to me, as an elected Nigerian president, let them look at the Constitution a Nigerian president works with, there are people who will closely work with me that don’t need to be taken to the Senate.

“If I select people whom I know quite well in my political party, whom we came all the way right from the APP, CPC and APC, and have remained together in good or bad situation, the people I have confidence in and I can trust them with any post, will that amount to anything wrong?

“I have been with them throughout our trying times, what then is the reward of such dedication and suffering?

“They did not defect because of positions, they did not involve themselves in the pursuit of personal gains, and they accepted their fate throughout our trying moments.

“What is wrong if I make you the secretary (of the federal government) because I have confidence that things will go normal?”

On the abducted Chibok girls missing since April 2014, Buhari said the Boko Haram sect had “have scattered them, and are being guarded at dispersed locations.

“Most of the girls are Christians and were forced to embrace Islam. And the sect’s cruel leaders have married some of the girls, obviously against their wish. Others have been left to practice their religion but their condition could hardly be ascertained.

“Both ground and air security personnel in the Sambisa forest could spot where the girls are, but since the insurgents have also kidnapped housewives and other women, no one could say whether they mixed them or how they dispersed them.”

‎Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha was was moved to tears by the massive show of
support for the president and himself declared that the old days of
slavery and Bondage for the people of Imo state will soon be over.

He lamented the sorry state of education in Imo state describing the
situation where the college of Medicine, the Faculty of law
,department of engineering ,and all school of Nursing in the state
operated without accreditation and recognition as unacceptable.

He also berated the Governor Rochas Okorocha for sending his two
sons In-law, the Secretary to the state Government and thugs to
desecrate the most sacred alter in imo state, the Assumta
cathedral describing the actions of his sons In-law and the
thugs who beat and harassed priests and the team clergy men from
Abuja as disgraceful.

In his remarks The Deputy Director general of the PDP Presidential
campaign Organisation and former governor of Anambra state Governor
Peter Obi said that Imo state before Rochas had always come first in
everything educational, not just in the south East but in the whole of
Nigeria, wondering why the state is suddenly producing one of the worst
WAEC and NECO results in the country under Rochas Okorocha.

He went further to describe General Buhari as an analogue
politician who does not even know the meaning or application of
Facebook reminding the audience of how Buhari locked up Ojukwu in
Kirikiri Maximum Prison and till today had not been able to say
what Ikemba's offence was!
He went on to describe President Jonathan as a man who loves and
respects the Igbo nation as evidenced by the way he treated the Igbo
people and the father of the Igbo nation while he was alive.

Governor Obi stated that the President ensured that Chief Odumegwu
Ojukwu got the best Medical care when he was sick and when he finally
died the President approved an unprecedented national
funeral as a mark of honour for the Ojukwu.

"Is it the man who threw your father in jail that you will vote for or
the one who took care of your father in life and in death " he asked As
the youths responded with chants and solidarity songs in support of
President Jonathan.

Leaders of youth groups who spoke at the event declared their total
support for the president re-election, Other dignitaries who graced
the occasion include former Governor of the state, The State PDP
chairman, Chairman of the committee on Youth Mobilisation Chief Dennis
Alonge-Niyi, all south east state and the Zonal PDP Youth Leaders,
Hon Dagogo Jack‎, Hon Temple Chinedu Chika, Hon I onyekuliusi ,
