Esdb3: You call sleeping with your sex err?? Do you read your bible? Go read up on what was written about homosexuality.......
The disciples didn't let the early church pray to them, why should catholics.
P.s-- logically if Jesus can forgive sins and he is higher than the disciples, why should they and not Jesus be prayed and confessed to. The disciples can only say "christ has forgiven you" not forgive sins themselves!! You may need to direct your question to Christ who gave them the authority to forgive sins. Help me ask him why he didn't keep that authority exclusively for himself. He gave them the authority and I won't challenge him, if you are not comfortable with it, take it up with Jesus. Mr Bible reader, pray, tell me what it is if not err. |

Esdb3: She said she found peace and happiness outside roman catholic and in the truth. She might have decided to forgive and forget.... The question is why did they not take legal action for slandering them(if they believe that is what she did) The Holy Catholic Church has more important things to do than sue someone who wrote a defamatory article with a clone name. Maybe you don't realize she used a name that couldn't be traced to her. Maybe you should read up more facts about the said story. |

Esdb3: Why did the catholic church not sue her or ask her to make the statements in court? Lemme help you to answer that; because she would have to mention the convent's name and they will be forced to open. You are really funny, the question should have been, if she is sure of what she said, why didn't she take legal actions? |

Syncan: Today's First reading Acts 15:22-31
The apostles and elders decided to choose delegates to send to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas; the whole church concurred with this. They chose Judas known as Barsabbas and Silas, both leading men in the brotherhood, and gave them this letter to take with them: ‘The apostles and elders, your brothers, send greetings to the brothers of pagan birth in Antioch, Syria and Cilicia. We hear that some of our members have disturbed you with their demands and have unsettled your minds. They acted without any authority from us; and so we have decided unanimously to elect delegates and to send them to you with Barnabas and Paul, men we highly respect who have dedicated their lives to the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Accordingly we are sending you Judas and Silas, who will confirm by word of mouth what we have written in this letter. It has been decided by the Holy Spirit and by ourselves not to saddle you with any burden beyond these essentials: you are to abstain from food sacrificed to idols; from blood, from the meat of strangled animals and from fornication. Avoid these, and you will do what is right. Farewell.’ The party left and went down to Antioch, where they summoned the whole community and delivered the letter. The community read it and were delighted with the encouragement it gave them.
I just had to post the whole passage dear brethren so as to drive home the beauty of the message. Beloved, don't you often hear people claiming to have been anointed by God in the night and they start a "church" in the morning, and they tell you that their authority is the word of God. Hahaha, did we just read something different above or isn't this passage in their scripture? The apostles and elders said..."they acted without authority from us..." Ha, so authority was needed from men, na wa o. Can you imagine what they even wrote..."It has been decided by the Holy Spirit and by ourselves..." what Impetus! What Audacity! Note that those who went without their authority were "some of our members", they were "born again" yet it didn't confer on them the authority to make doctrines. the authority lies with the apostles and elders, who Jesus had earlier told Peter to "feed my lambs"Jn 21:15-17 and to "strengthen the faith of your brothers" Lk 22:32. juzzybabe, that is why when the leaders of the church made the doctrine of no circumcision needed; in about 35AD, they said "It has been decided by the Holy Spirit and by ourselves". When their successors declared the doctrine of the Trinity in 325AD, Jnrbayano, they said "It has been decided by the Holy Spirit and by ourselves". When they canonized the books of the bible as scriptures as early as Hippo 393AD; Aizenosa, they said "It has been decided by the Holy Spirit and by ourselves". Papist, When they declared the blessed Virgin Mary "God bearer (Theotokus); in 430AD, they said "It has been decided by the Holy Spirit and by ourselves". Frodobee, this is the authority of the One, Holy, Roman, Catholic, Church Instituted by Christ upon the rock "Peter" and which the gates of hell shall never overcome.
My faith! My pride!
Good day brethren, a splendid day ahead to all. God bless you. |

Esdb3: Good point, very good point. Tell me where in the bible we are asked to confess to a father, worship mary(pray to her, whichever satisfies your ego), pray to the saints......
Referring to your reply now...... Why then should they make them seem holy when they know they are just humans too that can be immoral.
2. Anyone who is a father or sister is supposed to be willing to dedicate their lives to God entirely, they could have been just members, but they chose not to. Typical of you protestant! Beating about the bush and hasty generalisation. If you have not read where the bible said we should confess our sins to one another, and where the apostles were given the Holy Spirit and authority to forgive or retain sins, I can only shrug. Worship Mary? Pheew. Make them seem holy? What does that mean? So the wrongdoing of a minute percentage of priests now makes the entire priesthood immoral? I see. It seems you never sinned since you became the so called born again, don't tell me about the righteousness of Christ covering your sins because that could also be applicable to priest and pastor sinners. Tell me you never erred, if you have, you need to take the log off your eyes first. |
