Did they have the right to do so?

They added no books, they simply canonised the bible as it is today.

Are those additional book accepted by the early church?

YES!

Are they inspired of God?

YES

Are the teachings contained in those books in line with what is found in the 66 books of the bible?

When did 66 books became the yardstick for measuring other books and who sanctioned that?

Those are some questions that are begging for answers.

Who canonised the 66 books?
When was these 66 books canonised?
When did the Holy Catholic Church add other book to these 66 books?
Between the 66 and 73 books, which came first?

The origin I do not know. However it most likely was borne out of pious devotion. Knowing that visit to the chapel and praying there carries a partial indulgence each time its done. Who knows...the lord who searches the heart deals with us in line with our intentions.
