sheunfemix: There is just too much dirt associated with the Catholic church. A church that embraces same sex marriage, why on earth should u want to continue in their doctrine. The church that has so much of satanic stories attached to it should be totally ignored. Darkness has nothing to do with light they are entirely separate. And until we christians come together as one in union our churches will not grow. Ever wondered why the muslims are growing so vast? They have a certain oneness that christians lack and if we don't open our hearts to the truth and follow Christ as a perfect example, not our Pastors or Bishops but Christ the muslims will constantly be a thorn in our flesh. Go directly to Christ, He tore the veil already leaving a clear path And you have to tell a blatant lies to score a cheap point? Yeah you are a christian indeed |

incofab: well, let's not argue that but whichever way u look at it, your earlier statement that prompted me to respond is wrong. just wana correct that notion. You said that: "1 Cor 1:1-2 implies that all believers are saints" but that's not actually what the verse said as 1 Corinthians 1:2 Unto the church of God which is at Corinth, to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all that in every place call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours: the Bible didn't use the word believers, u invented that one yourself thereby u are of the opinion that those sanctified in Christ Jesus are believers "according to the verse" (of which I equally agree). But the same verse does not state or imply that they are saints. Ofcourse, There are many other saints that are not canonized or celebrated by the church but that's only because of absent of proof. The Church can only canonized the ones they've verified that's why I said only God knows that lived a life of extraordinary Holiness. My singular response still remains that all believers are not saints Well you are free to believe what you will, am sure my post was clear enough |

incofab: Get the definitions right Salc. A believer is anyone that is sanctified in Christ Jesus while a Saint someone that lived a life of exceptional Holiness. So, common knowledge should tell u that not all believers are saints. the next question is: How do u know if someone lived a life of exceptional Holiness? That IMO is only left for God to judge. The Catholic Church however examine the life of some Christians who lived exceptional lives or did extraordinary things through the power of the Lord and canonize them as Saints. Some of these saints have some or most part of their body incorrupt after several months or years of there death Which is a clear sign that there's something extraordinary about it. so dear, that u are sanctified in Christ Jesus doesn't automatically make u a saint. Sorry but your definition of a believer here is actually the definition of a saint, To be sanctified in Christ is to be made Holy, observe the words "Saint and Sanctify" and you don't even need a dictionary to know they are synonymous, you can look up. Heb 12:23 and see that people are made "perfect" (sanctified) by Christ, and mind you there are far more saints than those canonised and that's why we have the "All saints day" So I don't get it when you said a santified person isn't a saint. What I will accept here is if you say "those canonised are those whose exceptional live of holiness were ascertained or verified by the church". |
Christianity Etc › Re: "What Does The Bible Say About The Virgin Mary?" by SalC: 6:47am On Oct 13, 2014 |
incofab: please, let's not misinterpret things. KJV says in 1 Corinthians 1:2 Unto the church of God which is at Corinth, to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, CALLED TO BE SAINTS, with all that in every place call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours: The word, "to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints" doesn't mean that every believer is a saint. A better interpretation is that all saints are believers but surely all believers are not saints. Who is a believer? I don't mean by lip service but a true believer and what prevents a believer who is sanctified from being a saint? |

I have no need for the said logic anyway, I gave you a clear verse where Paul refer to believers as saints, all you need to do is read, if you can answer the question on how you know a believer, then you have answered how you know a saint, except you mean to tell me Paul is wrong, then I will spread out my tentacles while you prove him wrong. |

FrancisDiote: Who asked you to honour her? Is it the bible or mary herself. Mary does not intercede for anybody. Generations also call Abraham blessed that does not make him special or deserve to be honoured. Anyway its not anybody's fault b'cos we are all reading from a book that was initially prohibited from the public, a book that has undergone series of modification, and is been interpreted by people who are after their own purse putting everybody into confusion. @ Bold, are you kidding me? Please tell me when the bible developed "mouth" to talk, if not God speaking through human instrumentation. The argument I see on Nairaland is sometimes nauseating |

samplegirl: Please is there anywhere it is witten that the dead people have the powers to intercede for the living or is it simply human innovation? Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; 26 and whoever lives and believe in me will never die. Do you believe this? . John 11:25-26 Jesus is asking if you believe his words above. I believe it, do you? Did Mary live and believe in Jesus? If Yes, do you still consider her "dead"? |

Dapo777: It's bigger than ur comprehension to grasp, not mine. So If It's too difficult for u to understand, u can drop it,I heard too much thinking can cause brain tumour. I repeat,If God saw What freewill would cause(that is the evil that we all see around) and still goes ahead to give us freewill, then he is to blame because he already knows But still went ahead,So It's his fault. Hehehe this is funny, though I didn't read from the beginning but if this post is anything to go by, I will only say, it is worth knowing that freewill is not synonymous with evil. It is just the ability to chose between two or more things, we may argue that freewill is the reason why man fall but I will also say, had God not created us with freewill, he only created robots. The good aspect of the freewill God gave to us is, it gives both we and him the joy and confidence of knowing that we love and serve God today, not because we have no other option or can't do otherwise like robots that can't go beyond what they are programmed to do, but because we willing chose out of the freewill he gave to us, to love and serve him. |
Christianity Etc › Re: The Catholic Easter Vigil Mass "Exsultet": Worshipping God or Satan? by SalC: 8:36pm On Oct 11, 2014 |
If I understood your question very well, my answer is a resounding NO. It is neither saying Jesus is the son of Jesus nor is it saying Jesus is the son of Lucifer, it is rather say Jesus is the son of man.
If you noticed, the second line starts with "O Man" and don't forget that severally in the scriptures, even Jesus Christ referred to himself as "The Son of man"
Having this in mind, you may want to read again from "O man" to "Christ is you son"
I believe that line was saying "Man doesn't know his fate or the way to go, more like he doesn't know/is incapable of saving himself" yet Christ became the son of man in order to die and redeem man.
And about "Morning Star" being lucifer or Christ, it is interesting and funny enough can be interpreted to mean a handful of things, but the truth is, it is just a title and can be taken up by anyone, to me I doesn't really mean much, but if you insist on laying much emphasis on it, then take it as...this is a title lucifer bore but he failed and lost it, Christ took it up when he sacrificed himself to right the wrongs of lucifer by redeeming with his blood, the man Lucifer led astray. |
