PoliticsDon't Rig Elections For Me - Wike To Uniport Lecturers by sambisaman(op): 9:46am On Mar 02, 2016
https://cdn.dailypost.ng/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/wike-1024x683.jpg

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has accused the University of Port Harcourt lecturers of plotting to rig the rerun elections in collaboration with the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Governor Wike alleged that he was aware of what he described as an APC induced list of returning officers, which he said was intended to be used in rigging the forthcoming re-run legislative elections in the state.

Governor Wike made the allegation when he received the management team of the University of Port Harcourt led by the Vice Chancellor, Professor Ndowa Lale at the Government House in Port Harcourt.

According to Governor Wike, the purported list was drawn up in connivance with some APC chieftains from Rivers State and a sister state in the South-South geo-political zone.

Wike said the Rivers State Government had already notified the Independent National Electoral Commission of the alleged fraudulent plot through a letter addressed to the National Chairman of the electoral body.

He said the Vice Chancellor of the University of Port Harcourt may have signed the allegedly induced list unknowingly.

He further warned that University lecturers who allowed themselves to be used by the APC chieftains would face the wrath of Rivers people.

“The University of Port Harcourt is in Rivers State and you know what that means. Some Lecturers will be used during the re-run elections. For us, we don’t want anybody to rig elections for us. Of course you know the consequences. If the Lecturer is working for the interest of a political party, whatever happens to him is not my business,” Wike said.

Governor Wike said the people of Rivers State were vigilant, warning that nobody would be allowed to subvert the democratic process.

In the meantime, the All Progressive Congress in Rivers State has raised alarm over an alleged plot to use the state judiciary to stop its candidates from contesting the re-run elections on 19th Match.

Briefing newsmen at the APC Secretariat in Port Harcourt, the State Chairman of the party, Chief Davies Ikanya said three APC candidates were currently facing such suits before the State High Court.

Chief Ikanya said the party believed that the move might be responsible for the frequent boast by the PDP that if elections were conducted one hundred times its candidates would win.

However, the Rivers APC Chairman warned that his party would resist every attempt by the PDP-controlled State Government to use the judiciary against its candidates.

Ikanya said, “They have boasted that they will win elections if conducted 300 times but we are not bothered. We have been campaigning because we want a free and fair election. But that is not what they want. We know their plans.

“They have been carrying tax payers money shopping for a judge that will do the hatchet job, an ethically weak Judge that will give them an injunction to stop our candidates from contesting the rerun elections.

“Information available to us is that 3 Judges have refused their offer already.”

He also expressed concern that several lawsuits filed by the state government had been assigned to a particular judge.

The APC Chairman said the party suspected that the intention of the government was to obtain blanket injunctions restraining security agencies from arresting PDP members who were accused of infractions.

The Chairman of the APC also expressed worry over the issue of insecurity and killing of members of the party in some parts of the state.

Chief Ikanya laid emphasis on recent killings in Ogba-Egbema-Ndoni, Abua-Odual, Ahoada East, Andoni, Khana and Ikwerre Local Government areas.

According to him, comments by Governor Wike had set the stage for the recent eruption of violence in Yeghe community and Bori town in the Ogoni area of Rivers State.

Ikeanya commended the security agencies for their intervention and called on Nigerians to rise up in defence of democracy in Rivers State.

The APC leadership in Rivers State also criticized plans for a memorial procession in Ogoni in honour of victims of the violence of last week.

PoliticsEx EFCC Boss Ibrahim Lamorde Asks Police To Ignore Senate’s Arrest Warrant by sambisaman(op): 7:44am On Feb 26, 2016
The former Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) boss, Ibrahim Lamorde has rebuked the Senate for issuing a warrant for his arrest, despite the fact that the case is in court.

Lamorde also told the police to ignore arrest warrant issued by the lawmakers.

The former EFCC boss, in a statement issued by his lawyer, Festus Keyamo, said the move by the Senators is an illegal scheme and a show of legislative rascality.

The statement said “We most respectfully urge the Nigeria Police Force to await the outcome of the matter pending in court before deciding one way or the other about the enforcement of the said Warrant of Arrest, if eventually issued.

“If the court decides otherwise against our position, our client is prepared to appear before the Senate or any of its Committees.”

Adding that “Both the Senate and the Committee were served with the Originating Summons and a Motion seeking an Interlocutory Injunction restraining the Senate from continuing with their investigations pending the determination of the suit.”

“The processes were served on them on 20th November, 2015, but since then, they have refused, ignored and failed to file any process in defence of the suit.

‎”In any event, the Senate Standing Rules are clear to the effect that matters pending before a court of law should not be deliberated upon or discussed on the floor of the Senate or any of its Committees, “ the statement said.

You will recall that sometime ago, Mr. George Uboh, Chief Executive Officer of Panic Alert Security Systems, petitioned the Senate claiming that Lamorde fraudulently diverted N1tr.

He said the money is part of the proceeds from the loot recovered from a former Governor of Bayelsa State, Diepreye Alamieyeseigha and ex-Inspector-General of Police, Tafa Balogun.

PoliticsAPC Chieftain Arraigned Over Alleged Perjury In Enugu Council Polls by sambisaman(op): 8:59pm On Feb 25, 2016
The court case between some members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Enugu State, and the Enugu State government took another dimension on Thursday as an APC chieftain, Hon. Hyacinth Nsude was arraigned before an Enugu Chief Magistrate Court.

Nsude was docked by the police for allegedly committing perjury against his own party, the APC.

It was gathered that Nsude was arrested by the police on Wednesday night following a petition by two persons who claimed to be acting on behalf of APC, alleging that Nsude committed perjury against the party.

After investigation, the police arraigned him in Court on a
one-count charge of perjury.

When the charge was read to Nsude, he pleaded not guilty when the charge was read to him before the presiding Chief Magistrate, Nnena Madu.

Making submissions before the Court, counsel to the defendant (Nsude), Ik Ozor argued that the charge should be dismissed as the supposed complainant was not in court and was not represented by
anybody.

Ozor equally asked the Court to grant the defendant bail, which the Court obliged.

The Court further ordered that APC should appear in Court on the next adjourned date to indicate whether it was aware of such complaint for which Nsude was being prosecuted.

The matter was however adjourned to March 11 for further hearing.

It could be recalled that Nsude and other APC members in Enugu State are before the Enugu State High Court challenging the decision of the State Government to
constitute caretaker committees for the 17 local government areas
in the State, instead of conducting local government elections to elect chairmen and councilors for the councils.

The tenure of the last council administration elapsed on January 5 this year.

Meanwhile, members of the APC in Enugu State are pointing accusing fingers on the state government over Nsude’s prosecution.

“You can see that the so-called complainants were not in court; so this is political prosecution by the state government to make us withdraw the case”, one of them said.

PoliticsNigeria No Longer A Plenty Money Oil Producer - Buhari by sambisaman(op): 8:22pm On Feb 25, 2016
President Muhammadu Buhari Thursday in Mecca stated that the Nigeria that was seen a big producer of oil had gone, stating that the country needed all the support from interesting partners to diverse and develop her economy.

The president made the disclosure while sanctioning an offer by the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) to organize a financing roundtable in Abuja aimed at raising more funds for investment and development of infrastructure in Nigeria.

The president spoke at a meeting with the President of the IDB, Dr. Ahmed in Saudi Arabia.

“The days of Nigeria as a big oil producer with plenty of money are gone. We need all the support we can get to diversify our economy as quickly as possible.

“We also need to rehabilitate our infrastructure, develop the domestic capacity to feed ourselves and export the surplus,” he said.

Speaking earlier, Dr. Ali assured President Buhari that the IDB would work with its traditional partners such as the Saudi Fund, the Kuwait Fund, Arab Bank for Development in Africa and the Abu Dhabi Fund, to increase the quantum of funding available to Nigeria.

PoliticsOjogbane Adegbe Sues EFCC For N100m by sambisaman(op): 6:44pm On Feb 24, 2016
A former Aide-de-Camp to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, Col. Ojogbane Adegbe, has sued the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission at the Federal Territory High Court in Gudu, demanding N100m compensation for alleged unlawful detention by the anti-graft agency.

Adegbe said he had been in the EFCC detention since February 11, 2016 without being charged with any offence.

The suit with number CV/995/16 was filed by the plaintiff through his counsel, Ogwu Onoja (SAN), on February 17, 2016.

The suit is to come for hearing before Justice Y. Halilu on Friday.

The plaintiff contended in his suit that the EFCC by his continued detention violated his right to personal liberty and freedom of movement guaranteed under Section 35 and 41 of the 1999 Constitution.

He also contended that the EFCC’s action violated Articles 5, 6 and 12 of the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights.

The plaintiff said he was summoned by Army authorities from the United Kingdom where he was attending a course after he finished serving as Jonathan’s ADC on May 29, 2015 – to face EFCC interrogation.

His brother, Daniel Adegbe, who deposed to an affidavit in support of the suit, stated that the EFCC had continued to detain the ex-ADC despite the fact that the anti-graft agency had obtained his statement on the day he was arrested.

The plaintiff is seeking the following prayers, “A declaration that the arrest and continued detention of the applicant by the respondent since February 11, 2016 is unconstitutional as it offends his right to personal liberty as guaranteed by Section 35 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended).

“An order directing the respondent to release the applicant from unlawful detention with immediate effect.

“Or, in the alternative to Prayer 2, hereof; an order admitting the applicant to bail, pending his trial in a court of competent jurisdiction.

“N100m as general damages for unlawful detention of the applicant.

“A written apology by the respondent to the applicant.”

PoliticsHow Maurice Ibekwe Defrauded A German Of $30m – Forensic Expert by sambisaman(op): 6:37pm On Feb 24, 2016
Lagos High Court, Ikeja, heard on Wednesday that all the documents used by a former member of the Federal House of Representatives, the late Maurice Ibekwe and his accomplice, Augunous Okoro to defraud ‎a German, Klaus Munch and his company, Firm System Organisation of the sum of $30 million in 1992‎ were forged.

A forensic expert, Rapheal Onwuzurigbo, who analyzed some documents already admitted as exhibits by the court in 2003 told the court presided over by‎ Justice Oluwatoyin Atinuke Ipaye that he found discrepancies in the documents analyzed in May 2003, alleging forgery of the various documents by Okoro.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had arraigned Ibekwe and Okoro in court for allegedly duping the German in 1992.

Shortly after the trial commenced in 2003, Ibekwe died in prison, leaving Okoro to continue with the trial.

Midway into the trial, Okoro also claimed he could no longer continue with the trial due to ill health.

The trial thereafter suffered several adjournments on account of the defendant’s ill-health.

‎But at the resumed hearing on Wednesday, the forensic expert, who was led in evidence by the prosecution counsel, Mr. Adeniji Adebiyi, told the court how he arrived at his findings.

Onwuzurigbo‎ told the court that he used a video spectra comparator to determine the writing and signatures on the documents that were analyzed and found out they were not the same.

PoliticsPolice Withdraw Tompolo’s Security Aides by sambisaman(op): 1:49pm On Feb 24, 2016
By Emma Amaize, Regional Editor, South- South

WARRI- GOVERNOR of one of the South-South states and prominent Ijaw leaders in Delta region have counseled the ex-General Officer Commanding, GOC, defunct Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger-Delta, MEND, Government Ekpemupolo, alias Tompolo, to show up before the Federal High Court sitting in Lagos, which renewed a bench warrant for his arrest on Monday.

An Ijaw leader, who preferred anonymity told Vanguard, yesterday: “Our counsel to Tompolo is to stem the feared bombardment of our communities and harassment of innocent citizens by security operatives under the guise of searching for him and perpetrators of January pipeline bombing in the state.”

Meanwhile, the Nigeria Police Force, NPF, had withdrawn the security aides approved for Tompolo by the Federal Government since 2009 under the leadership of late President Umaru Yar’Adua.

Vanguard learned that the security aides, who had been with Tompolo for nearly six years, were withdrawn soon after Justice Ibrahim Buba issued the first bench warrant against the ex-militant leader, last month. A source close to Tompolo confirmed the development to Vanguard, yesterday.

In addition, security chiefs in the Niger-Delta were reportedly strategizing, yesterday, on how to track down Tompolo following the court order to produce him on February 19.

Two key questions the Joint Task Force, JTF, in the Niger-Delta had posed to those it arrested over the January pipeline bombing in Delta state were their link with Tompolo and his whereabouts, which it was yet to unravel until the court renewed the bench warrant.

PoliticsFani Kayode: ‘ali Modu Sheriff Will Be Consumed By Fire,’ Ex-minister Says by sambisaman(op): 1:29pm On Feb 24, 2016
Former aviation minister, Femi Fani-Kayode has said that Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chairman, Ali Modu Sheriff will be consumed by the fire he is trying to start in Nigeria.

Fani-Kayode made the comment while speaking to journalists on Tuesday, February 23, 2016, after a meeting of former PDP ministers in Abuja.

“First of all, my first question is who is he? Who is Ali Modu Sheriff? Is he a Nigerian or a Chadian? Or is he both? That's the first thing,” the former minister said.

“The second thing is that you come in as National Chairman or claim you are National Chairman and that you want to move a party forward and the first thing you do is start issuing threats, which I think is unacceptable and nobody is intimidated.

“The fact of the matter is this, He wants to set Nigeria on fire. He also wants to set the PDP on fire and that fire will consume him and him alone. As regards his personal threat to me, I am more than ready for him. I am waiting for him and I assure him that unlike anybody that he has ever met before in his life, he will meet a resistance that he never banked on.

“I am not intimidated. I cannot be intimidated and I will quote Shakespeare for you. In Macbeth, he said something which I have always found very interesting. Beautiful line in Macbeth. He said I shall fight until the flesh is hard for my bone and damned be he who first cries oh in this issue.

“We will remove him. We will ensure that he does not remain National Chairman because he has divided this party and this meeting we are having today will take a decision on that and I would not like to pre-empt their decision.

“I sincerely hope that all the other stakeholders of the party recognize that this man is divisive, he is unacceptable; he is unfit and he is somebody that none of us has any respect for and cannot move our party forward,” he added.

Sheriff had earlier threatened Fani-Kayode saying that he would not go scot free for linking him with Boko Haram.

The former minister has insisted that the new PDP Chairman plays an important role in the terror sect.

I remember the good old days of nairaland. Days when members help each other. What made me register to this website wayback 2009 was actually someone that was offering a free tutorial on internet marketing.

Threads like that are no where to be found now. All we see now is Tontoh and the breadseller.

It's my utmost desire to be of help to members of this forum that really need it, in my own little capacity. I believe in the maxim that the more you give, the more you'd receive.

Let's cut the chase and get down to business. I am going to help members of this forum design and build their own blogs and news websites.

I would build blogs that look like linda ikeji and also news websites like premium times, all for free. We would be using popular CMS like wordpress and blogger. But i prefer wordpress because it's really versatile and I have a wealth of experience in that.

I Would guide you through all the entire process, from purchasing all the way to finally posting your articles.

I would show you where you could get the cheapest web hosting company both Nigerian and Foreign hosting. I would also give you my professional opinion on the best web hosting company for a blog/news website.

Why would i be doing all these for free? What's really in for me?

Well, for one, I am an affliate marketer for some reputable webhosting companies both Nigerian and foreign. So i would earn a little commission when you get a hosting account for your blog/website.

i am also looking to build a team of serious minded individuals that i would work with me in creating different profitable businesses online that we would all earn from.

As a form of appreciation, you could also advertise and tell your friends about my news website, www.sambisaman.com

What you need to start?

1) If you want to own your own blog/news website, first you would need to decide on your blog name. What would you want your blog to be called? Linda ikeji choose her name, Bella naija choose differently. What would you want yours to be called?

2) After this, check to see if the name you choose is available. You can check it on www.checkdomain.com . if it is, then we progress to the next step.

3) Get a hosting account for your domain. A hosting account is where all your contents would be hosted. LIke a housing for your blog stories and stuffs.

4) Once you've got your hosting account, send me your control panel details, or grant me access to use your control panel. You can change your password/access later.

Once i am done designing, you can start posting your news. I'd advice you to run it for at least 2 weeks before you apply for adsense. Through adsense, you can make a load of cash from your blog.

Instead of siting at home or aimlessly making other people money by browsing their blogs 24/7, why not start your own? Take your articles to your blog and make money off them.

Best hosting company to Use?

for me, the best hosting company for blogs/news website is godaddy economy. It's very cheap and offers more flexibility than most local hosting companies. If you are interested, i will show you how to get godaddy hosting for just $1 a month, with a free domain name and unlimited bandwidth.

Another good one is whogohost.com . They are Naija owned and their customer service is superb. You can get a hosting account with them for 3k upwards.

*Please note that i can only take 2 offers per day and not more. My schedule is pretty tight.
*Also note that i do not offer logo and banner designing. You would do that yourself.

CultureOni Of Ife Endorses "Ile Ife Easter Fiesta" by sambisaman(op): 9:28am On Feb 22, 2016

All roads will be leading to Ile-Ife this Easter for a first of its kind spectacular event, as Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi‎, OJAJA II, Ooni of Ife has endorsed the event tagged Ile-Ife Easter Fiesta and Coronation Concert initiated by In-House Entertainment LTD. The event which promises to showcase Ile-Ife‎, Music, Comedy, Culture and the rich traditional heritage of the Yorubas has a lot of surprises embedded.

In the words of the Ooni of Ife, he appreciated the initiative and showered royal blessings on the event organizers. ‎"I am very impressed with this initiative and you can count on my support. While some people feel businesses cannot be done in Ife, you have chosen to bring the world to Ife, and at the end showcase our great city, I am very impressed and I will also try on your behalf to reach out to brands for support", said the King.

Speaking with journalists after the meeting with the Ooni of Ife, an obviously excited Ayo George; the project manager, had a lot of encomiums to ‎shower on the king. George said "I am undoubtedly very elated to have met the Ooni of Ife, which is a dream come true for me and my team. His Imperial Majesty was very impressed with our plans and gave us a royal assignment to inform the world that the city is actually pronounced Ile-Ife (land of expansion) and not Ile-Ife (house of Ife), and I can tell you for free that His Majesty's passion to see young people excel is almost unbelievable ‎
Speaking further, George revealed that ‎a financial institution immediately signified interest to become the official bank of the event as soon as the news of the endorsement broke, "We are excited that corporate brands have seen the potential in this event with the kind of personality figure involved alongside other eminent personalities that will be unveiled as the event Patron and Grand Patron in the days ahead and we shall be also be unveiling all our corporate brand support in a few days", George concluded.

The Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, has advocated for “a new tribe” of Nigerians consisting of professionals, businessmen, politicians and religious leaders to dismantle the corrupted systems in the nation’s private and public sectors.

Osinbajo spoke on Saturday evening in Lagos on the theme "Change Agents in Nation-Building" at the annual dinner of the Apostles In The Market Place (AiMP), of which he is a member.

He said "we need a new tribe of men and women of all faiths, tribes and ethnicities committed to a country run on high values of integrity, hard-work, justice and love for the country.

"A tribe of men and women who are prepared to make the sacrifices and self-constraints that are crucial to building a strong society.

"We want men and women who are prepared to stick together, fight corruption side by side, and insist on justice even when our friends are at the receiving end.''

Osinbajo observed that "when you look at any list of alleged perpetrators of heinous cases of corruption, all tribes, ethnicities and religions are well represented.

"In other words, high level corruption knows no religion or ethnicity."

He explained that such perpetrators and conspirators "are in governments, the legislature, the judiciary and the press.

"They are united, they protect each other, they fight for each other and they are prepared to go down together."

According to him, they are one tribe, indivisible regardless of diversity. It is this tribe that confuses the arguments for change in society.

The vice president disclosed how the President and himself had been working together to get the right people for tasks.

He said "I have had several long discussions with President Buhari, the key issue always is finding the right persons for any task, a tough task indeed.

"In such a system the private sector is a strong collaborator. The fight against corruption is a fight against the system.

"Where have the billions of dollars in the days of 100 dollars per barrel of oil gone?’’.

The vice president added that "the shocking theft of funds meant to procure arms to defend the nation demonstrates the moral ambivalence that pervades our system.

"That system needs to be dismantled if the nation is to progress."

According to him, Nigeria's greatest battle is the one to bring integrity and accountability to public service and the private sector.

"This requires a new way of thinking, a new leadership corps, a new tribe.

"The challenge today is for us all, friends and colleagues to populate that new tribe."

The Vice President’s speech entitled "A New Tribe", drew the response of industrialist, Dr Christopher Kolade, who also noted that the change that Nigeria needs is that which starts in us as individuals.

Kolade said that the new tribe the vice president called for must be made up of Nigerians who accept and believe in a "society where good things are the norm,” and such acceptance and belief is what qualifies people to belong to the new tribe.

He added that the new tribe of Nigerians are those who want to tell the truth and who want the truth.
