So you mean if my Tuition Fees is $6000 and my living expenses is $7000 i need to add the sum together and put it as in funds available for my stay ? Room and Board is it same with living expenses ?

Danyl: @samdams, you only need to quote the first year tuition fee and other expenses you might incur in your first year of studies. in regards to the countries of residence, if your stay had been in Nigeria then you have no problem just fill in Nigeria or any other countries where you have lived over the period of years stated on the form. i hope this helps.

a friend`s nigerian passport has a year and half left to expire and he needs to aply for a study permit for a phd in canada, though he is in UK presently, how can he go about it, can it be done on the uk, or abuja, where can he extend this, please i need your response, because he is about applying for a visa now ,,, please your response

Yes ur friend can renew hes passport in london, cuz thats what i am doing at the moment its just 50$ and u buy postal money order of £20 when ur going to nigeria embassy ..its faster and easy okay.
and in the acceptance letter they cant grant u visa that will be more than ur pasport expiring date. so he should make sure to renew now.
note : if he apply with the current passport he wont get more than 1 yr visa on it.

ifegy: I think you should check with the high commission re applying in May, and to be sure that you can apply from London. Generally speaking, visa applications from Europe take much less time than from Africa, so possibly May should be fine; but you should always be sure to follow the high commission's guidelines.

Thanks alot , can someone call the embassy to ask them all this? and yes i think can apply from london cause i have a valid visa that will last till i get the student visa , cause i got friends that applied from london and they got the visa without going to nigeria or gambia, if i am not qualify to apply from here the uni or college will inform me .

@ ifegy: thanks alot, i will contact the college on monday and see if the course they gave me is associated to york uni or not cause they gave me Mechanical Engineering Technician (Tool Design), if that's not a degree then i will have to go to prince edward university cause i am tired of college lol..i am in college here in london and college again in canada they will think this guy doesn't wanna move on or what.. i am also waiting for university of winnipeg to accept me so i will go for that but i think they will start sending acceptance letter in mid May is that gonna be too late for me to apply for the visa by may?

i have small trouble with this Canada stuffs oooh...Presently i am in London studying and i will be through by next month and my visa will expire in sept, but i applied for 3 universities and a college in Canada..i got accepted into the college (Seneca college) and also university ( University of Prince Edward island) the other 2 universities are still yet to decide if they gonna take me or not, but here is what am confused about ..the medical thing do i need to go to my GP here in London for them to just write it and give ? do i need to pay the tuition fees before i can apply for the visa ? when is the best time for me to apply for the if i am to go ahead and choose one out of the 2 choices given to me ? and i will like anyone to help me ... Seneca college or Prince Edward university island which will you prefer ?
i am not sponsoring myself can i also include my own statement of account when applying for the visa ? is it okay as a new comer to stay off campus or in the campus since i dont know anyone ? which is more expensive for me to live ? can i pay 2 or 3 months accommodation in advance before i get there ?

I am planning to switch to canada from london cause here in london the new Tier 4 rules is killing every one ..No Work Permit for New Students,Students Planning to Renew their Visa or extend to stay ..so i am confused and i dont wanna pay money to some colleges and then no work on my visa how will i survive this ? loool...Anyway if anyone got a good idea about a cheap university in canada and the deadline of there registration is still on u can give me the link i want to apply as soon as possible thanks alot .

Yes u can insert picture online and also take a photo with you as well to the embassy anyway i will take 2 copies of photos incase of anything

Yes i will use same documents i used in the uk to reapply and see wassup and also the am not the one sponsonring myself is my sister who is in the states doing all the funding and i dont need to show my account details as shes my sponsor is her responsibility to show her statements and everything , As for the Uni i will stay more than my holiday but i will get an holiday extension letter from them to show the ukba that this is the proof from the college and they can call and confirm the situation with them if they like , how about that ?

yes i told him i am working part time and cause i am not entitle to work full time cause am a student and we have limited hours of working , i have the letter from my employer but he didnt check it at all, he asked me if i own a house i said no i am living in flat, he said okay that will be fine, yes i took a holiday letter from my uni and also from my employer as well,

Okay here i am in this place after a long period of time, Am a student in London and i applied for tourist visa to California which i have been refused in 2009, the officer in charge then told me that i am not qualified cause i haven't been in the UK for about 6 months and i wanna travel that i should wait for a yr or so for me to reapply . then i applied 3 months ago and which is like 2 yr's after this time the Chinese American Officer told me that am not qualified cause this is not my country , and i dont have strong ties in UK the only ties i got in UK is my Uni, and he asked me if am working full time and i said no cause student aint allow to work full time , and he asked me if am married No i said , He if i own a House or Business in UK and i said No am here to study and he ask me the purpose of Travelling , I told him am going there to Visit my Sister who is a US Citizen and also she's inviting me and paying for all the expenses in which she wrote in the LOI but he didn't give me , Any Advice on This ?
