Jokerman:Face the issue. We are no comparing Trump with Buhari. Rather, that Trump rubbished the Native American tribes with his racial slur and the people are mad about such "unpresidential " behavior. The man is a racist. he still goes about peddling the fake news that Obama was not born in America, not to talk of his pro-white supremacy actions and remarks |
fellowman:The post I made was a reaction from a Chief of one of the native American Tribes, who felt insulted by the way Donald Trump behaved, you can check link below. “ I am deeply ashamed of the way the President of the United States has treated the veterans during an honoring ceremony at the White House. Veterans are brave heroes who sacrificed everything, despite the historical trauma to tribal nations, when asked to defend the United States. Absolutely nothing should have taken away from honoring the veterans for their contributions to the war that ensured the American way of life. The President of the United States had an opportunity to honor veterans and bridge gaps in the relationship Tribes have with the Federal government. Instead, he chose to disgrace himself, his position and the nation he represents. It has been more than 200 years of living together yet the President of the United States knows nothing about us. We have been forced to learn the way of the American life. We have learned American religions, language, economy, politics and society. We all share in following the American dream of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. A dream that all of those things we learn about, try to keep us from achieving. The President’s comments are another reminder that we are not allowed to participate. Pocahontas was only a child when she became a victim of rape, kidnapping, imprisonment, and her forced conversion to Christianity. What happened to Pocahontas is still happening today to our women. Native American women continue to be victims of rape and exploitation by white men. The President of the United States is practicing that by exploiting native women as an insult for political machismo. Pocahontas is beloved by native people and is recognized as a victim of European colonialism. To use her name in that manner is disgusting and reflective of the President of the United States’ ignorance. This President of the United States does not deserve to represent the American people if he cannot acknowledge the contributions of the people who make America great. The President of the United States has shown no responsibility when caring for American resources or the people. An apology is in order for the warriors that were present, to the native nations and the United States for his behavior. The President of the United States wanted to utilize an opportunity to honor native warriors who defended this land to make a political attack. I have one for him, leave the office you bought and take your swamp things with you |
During ongoing debates in the Senate about the 2018 budget, the common sense senator was quoted as saying that “I called President Obasanjo on phone two days ago and he said to me that the National Orientation Agency was necessary when we had no political parties. What is the value of the National Orientation Agency in today’s world for instance? Yet billions of naira is spent in it. Let us look at agencies that make no sense and sell them to staff. FRCN has 8,000 workers. Sell it to them. Sell NTA to the staff. Voice of Nigeria… Who listens to Voice of Nigeria? Sell it. If the staff want to buy, let them buy it. Set up a cooperative, like Awolowo did, sell it to them. If we spend 71 per cent on recurrent expenditure, we will never get out of this predicament.” But he failed to recall that he was made Director General of the NTA by Obasanjo between 1999 -2003, and was given hundreds of millions to buy broadcasting equipment for the NTA. why did he accept the job or is it now that he realized that these organs are no longer relevant in the scheme of things |
Nicknamed "the Crocodile" for his ruthlessness, Emmerson Mnangagwa who took over Friday as Zimbabwe's president, is a hardliner with ties to the military who could prove as authoritarian as his mentor Robert Mugabe. It was his driving ambition to take over as leader which set off a bitter succession battle with Mugabe's 52-year-old wife Grace, triggering the crisis that toppled the long-serving president, who resigned on Tuesday. When Mnangagwa was dismissed as vice president by Mugabe on November 6, it initially looked like he'd been outfoxed by the first lady, forcing him to flee the country. Slideshow: Emmerson Mnangagwa just became Zimbabwe's new president (provided by Business Insider UK) But the situation quickly turned on its head, with his dismissal triggering a military takeover and mass street protests, which ended with Mugabe's ouster and Mnangagwa catapulted to centre stage. With the nation still reeling from Mugabe's lightning demise, the 75-year-old made a triumphant return home on Wednesday and was sworn in as president on Friday. - Climax of long feud - A former close Mugabe ally, Mnangagwa's initial fall from grace appears to have been engineered by the first lady, who lobbied her husband to back her own political ambitions. It was the climax of a long feud between the pair over who would replace the ailing and increasingly frail 93-year-old leader. But Mnangagwa's dismissal alarmed the army, with the generals quickly moving in, staging a military takeover which brought him down within days. Mnangagwa's rise to the top comes after decades of experience under Mugabe since Zimbabwe won independence from Britain in 1980. In the early days, Mugabe appointed Mnangagwa, a young trainee lawyer, as Zimbabwe's first minister for national security. After that, he held a host of different cabinet positions -- but relations between him and his political mentor were not always easy, and the younger man was no stranger to presidential purges. In 2004, he lost his post as administrative secretary in the ruling ZANU-PF after being accused of openly angling for the post of vice president. - Violence and intimidation - But it was during the 2008 election that his fortunes really began to change, when he was serving as head of Mugabe's election campaign. Mugabe lost the first round vote, and Mnangagwa allegedly supervised the wave of violence and intimidation that forced the opposition to pull out of the run-off vote. He was targeted by EU and US sanctions imposed on Mugabe and his close allies over the elections and the ensuing violence but was promptly handed control of the powerful defence ministry. - A young fighter - Born in the southwestern Zvishavane district on September 15, 1942, Mnangagwa completed his early education in Zimbabwe before his family relocated to neighbouring Zambia. His grandfather was a traditional leader and his father a political agitator for the repeal of colonial laws that disadvantaged blacks. In 1966, Mnangagwa joined the struggle for independence from Britain, becoming one of the young combatants who helped direct the war after undergoing training in China and Egypt. He was arrested and sentenced to death but his sentence was later commuted to 10 years in prison because of his young age. After independence in 1980, he directed a brutal crackdown on opposition supporters that claimed thousands of lives in the Matabeleland and Midlands provinces. He once remarked that he had been taught to "destroy and kill" -- although he later claimed to be a born-again Christian. |

Not surprised about the Oba's utterances, he was a policeman prior to ascending throne. It was because he wanted to grab the throne that made him to voluntarily retire from the Police Force. Unfortunately, despite understudying the late Oba Adeyinka Oyekan, he is still manifesting that Police trait for mischief |
sarrki:It appears you did not understand the comment. It was made to draw Biacan's attention to the inappropriate use of the word "boy", unfortunately you responded with a something quite close to being daft. |
Rename it Alex Ekwueme Federal Polytechnic |
We should ensure that Universal Health Care coverage is extended to those working in the Organised Private Sector, OPS. Most of these firms, especially those controlled by Indians are not providing UHC for their workers. Anything beyond, malaria fever, the workers will be paid to pay through deductions from their salaries. The National Assembly and the NLC should champion this cause |
But Nigeria gave you Ibori, the chance to govern a state and you robbed it blind. When your party PDP refused to nominate Alex Ekwueme as its presidential candidate, you never said a word. You are one of those that brought the country into the ‘political and economic morass’, you mentioned through your bare faced looting. Though you escaped justice in Nigeria, but the long arm of the law caught up with you in England, where you had no choice but to plead guilty. How dare a shameless crook like you talk about morality |
As deadline set by the party of Robert Mugabe to resign as the country's President passed without a public statement, as speculation swirls over the veteran leader's next move, a source with knowledge of negotiations over Mugabe's future told CNN that the President had agreed to terms for his exit and that a letter had been drafted. Under the terms of the deal, Mugabe and his wife Grace -- who had harbored ambitions of succeeding him -- would be granted full immunity. https://www.yahoo.com/news/zimbabwes-mugabe-until-noon-stand-down-face-impeachment-064440806.html |
[b]A former Nigerian Vice President, Alex Ekwueme, is dead. According to the SUN newspaper, a statement from his family said he died at a London clinic on Sunday. The statement, signed by his brother and the traditional ruler of Oko in Anambra State, Igwe Laz Ekwueme, said Mr. Ekwueme died at 10:00 pm. The statement reads in part: “Ekwueme family regrets to announce the peaceful passing away of their patriarch, the former Vice-President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Dr. Alex Ifeanyichukwu Ekwueme GCON. “The sad event occurred at the London Clinic at 10:00 pm on Sunday 19th November 2017.” The former vice president, who turned 85 in October, reportedly collapsed in his Enugu residence few weeks ago. He was immediately taken to the Memfys Neurosurgery Hospital, Enugu, where he relapsed and went into a coma. President Muhammadu Buhari subsequently directed that he be immediately flown abroad for urgent medical treatment. Mr. Buhari authorised the trip after being briefed on Mr. Ekwueme’s condition. As he was driven back to his opulent palace in Harare on Tuesday, surrounded by bodyguards in military fatigues and wearing motorcycle helmets, Robert Mugabe had no reason to suspect that his 37-year rule was about to end. Having been in power since 1980, Mugabe — not to mention Grace, his high-handed, grasping second wife — thought he was invincible. Just days earlier, he beamed with satisfaction at a ceremony to change the name of Zimbabwe's main airport to the Robert Mugabe International Airport. He believed he would be president of the former British colony until he died, and had once proclaimed 'not even God' wanted his murderous reign to end. His wife, meanwhile, had called for a Mugabe family 'dynasty' to run the country for ever But what neither knew that sunny afternoon was that Mugabe's loyal presidential guard had been swapped for military personnel who were in league with his enemies — the very generals who had previously been loyal to the despot since he came to power after the bush war against white rule. The first sign of any trouble was when Mugabe's convoy arrived at his home in a suburb of the capital city, and the men accompanying him arrested the security officers on duty there. The 93-year-old president was then hustled into the house and, a short time later, the man in charge of Zimbabwe's armed forces arrived to break some rather bad news to Mugabe. A fearsome individual known for his volcanic temper, General Constantino Chiwenga is one of the so-called 'Dirty Half Dozen' — six sinister military and intelligence chiefs whose junta has kept Mugabe in office for decades, terrorising opponents and rigging elections. Bluntly, Chiwenga told Mugabe he was under arrest. Without uttering a word, Mugabe promptly collapsed to the floor. 'He was in shock, and collapsed when he realised what was happening,' one coup plotter told me. 'He had to be resuscitated and revived. He could not believe what was happening at first.' Ojukwu Jnr is not a prodigal son, but a true son of his father. Just as his father abandoned Azikwe's NPP and pitched tent with the then ruling NPN, his son has also abandoned APGA for the ruling APC. For those saying that he has never won an election, let me remind you that Ojukwu also failed to win the 1983 senatorial election when he was the candidate of the NPN |
History parallel to Defection Of Emeka Ojukwu to the Ruling party Ojukwu fled into exile in Ivory Coast after the Biafra fell to the Federal forces in January 1970 to escape arrest and trial for treason. He did not return to Nigeria until after 13 years and a granting of official pardon by President Shehu Shagari in 1982. His political advent took him not to the then Igbo political party, the NPP, but he prefer to pitch his tent to the then ruling party NPN, which nominated him senatorial candidate in the 1983 general elections. He subsequently lost to Senator Edwin Onwudiwe of the NPP. Now is son Emeka Ojukwu Jr., has followed in his father’s footstep by defecting to the ruling party, this time APC, instead of the Igbo party, APGA. Anybody using derogatory words on the fellow should cast their mind back to 1982. The will realize that the fellow has simply shown himself to be a true son of his father |
FarahAideed:Nigeria Airways fleet was 22 strong in March 1985 while Buhari was in power, comprising two DC-10-30s, four Airbus A310s, three Boeing 707-320Cs, two Boeing 727-200s, ten Boeing 737-200s, and one Boeing 737-200C; two Boeing 737-200s were on order and the carrier had 9,096 employees at this time It was while IBB was in power that the introduction of International Monetary Fund policies, along with corruption, mismanagement and overstaffing, led to a steady decline of Nigeria Airways from the 1985. Even at its peak, the airline was managed by KLM of Holland, but at their departure, things began to head south. I still repeat PMB was not responsible for its demise. |
FarahAideed:How did he kill the Airline? Was he the president when the airways was shut down and workers sent home ? We should not allow our hatred of this man to becloud our reasoning. That he is paying their outstanding severance entitlement is commendable. Why didn't OBJ, Yar dua and GEJ pay them, when these THREE were in power ? |
Goddygee:You mean NAMIBIA or NICARAGUA ? |
Former President Goodluck Jonathan has described ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo as the “boss of bosses”, saying any politician who ignores the elder statesman does so at his own peril. Jonathan said this while speaking with Dele Momodu, publisher of Ovation Magazine, on the 2019 election. GEJ finally accepts BABAOBJ as the DON https://www.thecable.ng/jonathan-obasanjo-boss-bosses-ignore-peril |

After yesterday's 2018 Budget estimates presentation by PMB, most anti Buhari elements are maintaining a very loud silence. Are they disappointed that PMB could stand the rigor of speaking for over 60 minutes without falling asleep or that he made provisions of 10 billion naira for the 2nd Niger Bridge ? I hope their problem is not that he increased provisions for the Niger Delta ministry to 53.89 billion naira apart from 79.40 billion naira for the Niger Delta Development Commission and another 17.32 billion for the East West Road. PMB has shown that he indeed is up to the task of governing Nigeria |
