As part of the Imo State Government efforts to recover assets illegally alienated the government control by previous administration officials, the state Government on Tuesday sealed Rochas Foundation College, Orji, in Owerri, the state capital. Government officials arrived at the location which is the old quarters of the staff of Imo Broadcasting Corporation and sealed it. The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Imo State on Print Media, Modestus Nwamkpa, who confirmed the development, said that the governor, Hope Uzodinma, was committed to recovering properties of the state allegedly “looted by Okorocha and his family members”. Nwamkpa said that the governor was implementing the recommendations of various White Papers by committees set up by the state government. |

President Nana Akufo-Addo of Ghana has directed state institutions to purchase locally produced rice from January 2020. He gave the directive while addressing journalists at the Jubilee House, in Accra, on Friday. Akufo-Addo said the decision was made to support farmers and boost local production of rice. He said the locally produced rice is what is consumed in his home, adding that state institutions must also support the drive towards self-sufficiency. “All of us have to get involved in this drive towards self-sufficiency, we should all eat Ghanaian rice. It is the beginning for all of us, each one of us in our homes we should make a conscious effort to tell our wives and cousins or whoever is responsible for food to buy Ghana rice,” he said. “That is what is happening in this place, it’s happening in my house in Nima and it’s happening here. And I’m giving direction that by the 1st of January 2020, all the state institutions are going to buy Ghanaian produce and Ghanaian rice, we have to do these things. That’s the only way we can begin to actively support our farmers.” The president said his administration is making efforts to support local rice farmers through the construction of warehouses and the setting up and operation of the Ghana Commodity Exchange. During the national farmers’ day, which held in the country a week ago, Akufo-Addo called for the consumption of local rice to support food industry. He said “the success of the government’s efforts at ensuring self-sufficiency in rice production depends largely on the level of consumption of local rice.” “We must eat what we grow to motivate our farmers, and support the development of the local food industry. Indeed, Rebecca, my beautiful wife, our First Lady, insists that we eat local rice at home, and has made sure of it. I call on all Ghanaians to follow my example, and eat local rice,” he had said. The consumption of locally produced rice increased in Nigeria following the closure of land borders. President Muhammadu Buhari had ordered closure of the borders to reduce smuggling. |

If this had been done before the last General election, some would have shouted that it was to curry votes from the South East. But now, the critics are conspicuously silent. |
With the release of Taraba and Borno, I think Buhari's total tally in this election will most likely cross the 14 MILLION votes line He will certainly claim victory in Zamfara, Kebbi,Sokoto, while cornering some votes in bayelsa, Delta and Rivers. It is no longer will he win? But we are now clearly looking at by what margin will the victory be samebony1: |

FarahAideed:Read my post properly. I did not say he will lead Atiku by 13 million votes, but said he will win by securing over 13 million votes. Right now Buhari is leading Atiku with 3,923,870 but this figure will certainly go up once the remaining states mentioned above are declared |
Going by results so far officially and unofficially declared, the APC Candidate and current President Muhammadu Buhari is likely to clinch victory with more than 13 million votes. So far only Bayelsa, Borno, Delta, Kebbi, Rivers, Sokoto, Taraba and Zamfara have not been known. But one can easily guess which camp each of these states will swing. For instance, Borno, Kebbi, Sokoto and Zamfara are clearly pro Buhari, while Bayelsa, Delta nad Rivers are for Atiku. taraba is a 50-50 for either of them Parties APC PDP Abia 85,058 219,698 Adamawa 378,072 410,266 Akwa Ibom 175,429 379,831 Anambra 31,452 487,550 Bauchi 798,428 209,313 Bayelsa - - Benue 347,668 355,355 Borno - 836,496 71,788 Cross River 117,303 295,737 Delta - - Ebonyi 90,726 258,573 Edo 267,842 275,691 Ekiti 219,231 154,032 Enugu 54,423 355,553 FCT 152,224 259,997 Gombe 402,961 138,484 Imo 140,463 334,923 Jigawa 794,738 289,895 Kaduna 993,482 613,318 Kano 1,464,768 391,573 Katsina 1,232,133 308,056 Kebbi - - Kogi 285,894 218,207 Kwara 308,984 138,184 Lagos 580,814 448,016 Nasarawa 289,903 283,847 Niger 612,371 218,052 Ogun 281,762 194,655 Ondo 241,769 275,901 Osun 347,634 337,377 Oyo 365,230 366,720 Plateau 468,555 548,665 Rivers - - Sokoto - - Taraba - 324906 374,743 Yobe 497,914 50,763 Zamfara - - Total 13,188,633 9,264,763 |

From Premium News online comes a report that the Federal Government of Nigeria has approved a reduction in the cost of forms for final year secondary school and post-secondary school examinations. This reduction, first announced by President Muhammadu Buhari’s aide on new media, Bashir Ahmad, was decided at the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting on Wednesday. Vice President Yemi Osinbajo presided over the meeting in the absence of Mr Buhari who travelled on official assignment to Borno State. The cost of Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) forms was reduced from N5,000 to N3,500 while the cost of National Examination Council (NECO) forms was reduced from N11,350 to N9,850. The cost of Basic Education Certificate, also handled by NECO, was also reduced from N5,500 to N4,000. The reduction takes effect from January 2019. JAMB has been making hundreds of millions of naira profit since its new leadership headed by Ishaq Oloyede assumed office; leading many Nigerians to demand a reduction in the cost of forms. The House of Representatives had in May urged the Federal Ministry of Education to slash the cost of JAMB application forms. The call had followed JAMB’s announcement that it remitted N7.8 billion to the federal government as proceeds from sale of Unified Tertiary Examinations (UTME) application forms in 2017. The lawmakers had accused JAMB of becoming a “revenue generating agency.” On Wednesday, the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, who briefed journalists at the end of the three hours FEC meeting, said he presented a memo to call for the reduction in fees. He said the reduction followed the pleas from parents. According to him, since the Buhari administration put in place a prudent management in JAMB, corruption in the agency gas been eradicated. “So, in answer to yearnings my parents, Mr. President directed that we should look into the possibility of reducing the charges,” he said. “So accordingly, from January 2019, JAMB fees will be from N5,000 to N3,500 for the UTME, Senior Secondary Certificate charged by National Examination Council (NECO) from 11,350 to N9,850 and Basic Education Certificate handled by NECO is reduced from N5,500 to N4,000,” he said. https://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/headlines/297974-breaking-buhari-approves-reduction-in-cost-of-jamb-neco-forms.html |

Nbote:The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) says the volume of rice imported into the country has declined drastically in 2018, according to figures from official sources. NAN reports that Isaac Okorafor, director, corporate communications at CBN, made this known in a statement on Tuesday. Okorafor said by September, Nigeria had imported 5,161 metric tonnes of rice from Thailand and 426 metric tonnes of rice from India as of July — amounting to less than 6,000 metric tonnes in 2018. The CBN spokesman said this is against the 400,000 metric tonnes being bandied around due to “expected demand by politicians for election campaigns”. He attributed the reduced imports to “concerted efforts” by the ministry of agriculture and rural development and the interventions of the CBN. Okorafor said the ministry and the CBN had been collaborating to reduce the volume of rice importation through the “rice revolution”. He explained that the apex bank had not allocated any foreign exchange for the importation of rice in 2018, adding that the imports from Thailand and India were done on “not-valid-for-forex basis”. “The figures being bandied in certain quarters were based on unrealistic assumptions such as satellite mapping of farms, expected demand by politicians for election campaigns and expected losses from flooding,” the statement quoted Okorafor as saying. “All of these led to unauthentic conclusions that the country had imported or could import 400,000 more metric tonnes.” https://www.thecable.ng/cbn-rice-importation-reduced-in-2018 |
Nbote:You are the one who is fooling himself. The report did not talk about smuggled rice to Nigeria, but rather talked about what IS IMPORTED TO NIGERIA ie WHAT WE SPEND OUR FOREX TO BRING INTO THE COUNTRY. |
