Because they are farmers they dont desrve loans, right I guess ur thought is that thay dont deserve loans or grant becos they are dirty and worthless. Well, i hope you know those guys toil the ground painstakingly and wait for the yield so that you and me might have food on our table.If anyone desrves loans or grants or whatever, it is the farmers and not the white collar lab rats you call reseachers.

I used the word cruel and nasty becos, i have been in these farms and i see how families suffer to feed a nation of hungry people. These people farm becos they have no other option. They harvest the yams and still have to deal with the trading constraint associated with farming in nigeria; BAD ROADS, NUMEROUS ILLEGAL POLICE CHECKPOINTS, ABSENCE OF GOVT POLICIES TO AID TRADING, and worst of all the harvests are sold off 4 peanuts to avoid wastage after months of patience. TELL ME ISNT THAT A CRUEL AND NASTY ORDEAL. AND TO REMIND U, THIS HAS BEEN ON 4 AGES. All we can get is a misely research grant and the farmers are suppose to jump and shout HALLELUTA RIGHT!!! . If bill gates is serious about helping, he should visit the farmers union for a start, they know where the shoe hurts.

There are thousands of farmers nationwide waiting to recieve such loans to expand the farming business. Charity organisations would rather give the money to researchers than to farmers, simply becos they are too poor and un-educated. Are u saying there are no disease resistant yams in nigeria. The statement should be BILL GATE GIVES MONEY TO YAM RESEARCH INSTITUTES and not to farmers becos i know farmers in my village who require soft loans to boost their yield. But guess what, i know they wont get nada from bill gate or govt. WHAT A CRUEL AND NASTY WORLD. I can image the amount of billions that have been donated to these institutes b4 now. To hell with his funds. We dont need it anyway.
