Dangote Refinery and Fertiliser Plant will recruit 900 engineers between February and June 2018, the company’s Senior General Manager in charge of Human Asset, Mr. Umar Hamza has said. Speaking when another batch of trainee engineers, who returned from five-month course at the Bharat Petroleum Mumbai Refinery (BPCL) in India shared their training experience at the Dangote Free Trade Zone site of the refinery and petrochemical plant in Lagos, Umar stated that a fresh batch of 30 brilliant engineers will be sent to India in March 2018. “Another batch of 30 will travel in April and don’t forget that the fertiliser group is also recruiting trainee engineers. I think they are also documenting about 50. So, as you can see, we have so far, either sent or prepared about five batches and it is a continuous process because from now to June, we intend to recruit 900 other engineers. All of them will undergo one form of training or the other abroad. In terms of the cost implications, I can’t give you the specifics but I can assure you that it runs into millions of dollars – no doubt about it,” Umar said. Also speaking at the event, the General Manager in charge of the fertiliser plant, Mr. Akin Oladiran said the overseas training was part of the company’s planning process to ensure that Nigerians develop the necessary skills and technical competences to run the refinery and fertiliser plant in the future. “There is this saying that if you don’t plan at all, you have already planned to fail. You see, sending these young men to India to acquire the training, is part of the planning process to avoid what you talked about capital flight. That is the plan. From what they have demonstrated, you can see that they are also focused. They are working with the vision. Like my colleague has said, as the refinery is doing, the fertiliser plant is also doing. We have already packaged about 50 to be sent to the same India to go and experience the running of fertiliser plant and it is a continuous process. So, very soon, you see competent Nigerians running refineries and fertiliser plants. That is the vision,” Oladiran explained. He added that the training is a long term plan to ensure that Nigerians take over the running of the plants. Some of the graduate trainees, who shared their experience, identified the benefits of the Indian training to include increased value of human assets in Dangote Group, increased company turnover and competent employees, good company profile and reputation, enthronement of best practices in safety and management, and increased profitability and productivity. The other benefits include eligibility of employees to manage colleagues and subordinates, improved knowledge and exposure, optimisation of ideas for cost savings, and motivated workforce guaranteed by management commitment to career growth. |

These men made life easy for everyone.....They are not chasing after money rather their goal was to impact the world positively even though their are lapses here and there, but the advantages of their research supersede the disadvantages. The funny thing about this is that they are all connected. If you want to achieve greatness, connect to those who are on their way to greatness. Mediocrity is always and will forever remains number one enemy of success........

Do you remember when futuristic movies would show a future full of robots? Well, that future isn’t so far away. The robots are coming, and they will take our jobs. The technological revolution we are in is not stopping anytime soon, and automation is a huge part of its growth. We have witnessed this change before, and that was the Industrial Revolution. The solution was creating a more educated workforce to handle more complex issues, and again our solution to this issue lies in education. When choosing a college degree, it is important to be cognizant of the changing world and its changing demands. And so, I have found 5 college degrees that will be sure to be obsolete with the advent of technology. 1. Accounting Degree Basically, if Quickbooks can do it – you don’t really need your accountant. More and more companies are coming up with ways to do taxes online – from Turbo Tax to H & R Block. In house accounting is only truly necessary for larger companies, and tax accounting for most individuals can be done online directly. The changing course of this career requires less number crunching and more insight. A good alternative to this degree is finance, where you can be more dynamic in your career. 2. Hospitality And Tourism Degree You know those kiosks that you check in to at the airport? That is the projected future of hotels. Majoring in hospitality and tourism is a mistake, because most of that industry can easily be replaced by technology. The need for hotel desk agents, travel agents, and more are truly dwindling. 3. Paralegal Degree most of the duties of a paralegal can easily be done by a computer these days. Filing and research can easily be done online, and does not require a human touch. Law itself can be replaced by technology, so paralegal studies is the obvious first cut to the industry. 4. Broadcast Communications Degree Broadcast is an ever changing field. The TV is no longer the main news outlet, and a degree in broadcast communications focuses on an outdated technology. Communication efforts are changing daily, from Snapchat to Facebook – we get our news in a very different way these days. 5. Pharmacy Degree Your prescription can be filled by a robot. That is a simple idea to grasp. More and more drugstores are turning to this idea of an automatic pick up or drop off, and there is no real need for a pharmacist in this world. Compounding is still relatively used, but as big pharmaceuticals dominate the playing field – the need for compounding will dwindle as well. Go big and become a doctor instead, as this job is very replaceable. |
A 59-year-old Vietnamese man has been rushed to hospital in agony after he got his pen!$ broken during $ ex. When he got to the hospital in Ho Chi Minh City and he was asked what really went wrong, he told doctors he heard a loud crack while making love to his partner. When examined, doctors were shocked when they saw the damaged organ, which had clearly been snapped at the point where it joined the man’s body. The organ had also changed from the normal skin colour to bright purple, requiring urgent medical attention, the Tuoi Tre newspaper reported. Dr Dung said the case was very rare, but occurred at full erect!0n. ‘Symptoms include a clear “crack” that is accompanied by a sharp pain,’ he said. Dr Dung said this would be followed by purple colouration and ongoing pain and discomfort. ‘Without timely surgery, the patient can suffer from a deformed and curved penis and erectile dysfunction. The case of this 59-year-old patient is rare, occurring only once out of a thousand cases of broken pen!$e$ recorded in medical literature.’ Hmnn, nawa oh!

The history of Nigeria can be traced to prehistoric settlers living in the area as early as 11,000 BC. Numerous ancient African civilizations settled in the region that is today Nigeria. An example of one of the civilizations that settles in Nigeria is the Nri Kingdom. Islam reached Nigeria through the Hausa States during the 11th century. The Songhai Empire also occupied part of the region. Lagos was captured by British forces in 1851 and formally annexed in 1861. Nigeria became a British protectorate in 1901. Colonization lasted until 1960, when an independence movement succeeded in gaining Nigeria its independence. Nigeria first became a republic in 1963, but succumbed to military rule in 1966 after a bloody coup d’état. A separatist movement later formed the Republic of Biafra in 1967, leading to the three-year Nigerian Civil War. Nigeria became a republic once again after a new constitution was written in 1979. However, the republic was short-lived, when the military led by Major General Muhammadu Buhari seize again four years later. Buhari was overthrown and a new republic was founded in August 1993, but was dissolved once again by General Sani Abacha in November that same year. Abacha died in 1998 and a fourth republic was later established the following year, ending three decades of intermittent military rule. The country rich in natural resources became poor due to mismanagement in monies; corruption took over the country and it grew in the hearts of her leaders, they no longer value their products, but products produced in other countries. For Instance, cocoa; Nigeria is the fourth cocoa producing country in the world, but I can’t see how they’ve used this agricultural produce to build the nation. I’m talking cocoa, what about oil? Nigeria is one of the top 10 highest oil producing countries in Africa among others. We are so blessed but have the leaders helped so far? The current news in Nigeria is about recession, it’s probably the most used word on the street. The market women, the taxi drivers, even the illiterates in the hinterlands have got wind of what’s going on as analysts and government officials have been barraging previous governments, passing the bulk of the blame to them. It is impossible to overlook the clay-footed giant of Africa as its once vibrant economy slowly grinds to a halt. With a population of over 170 million people, getting jobs in Nigeria was already tough enough, a predicament that has been made more difficult by its over reliance on oil. Recently released official statistics say youth unemployment increased to 24 per cent from 21.5 per cent. An objective analysis will truly reveal that our present economic quagmire was not brought upon us (solely, some might say) by the present regime; it is a culmination of decades of misrule and visionless leadership. That said, the present Government has been in power long enough (1 year and 4 months) to chart a clear economic course for the country, but so far the country is still deeply enmeshed in its problems. What is the government’s socio-political ideology? What’s her stand on taxes? What’s the government’s plan on spending? Does it favor a certain sector? Companies are shutting down, what is the plan/incentive to convince businessmen to get back to work? WHAT EXACTLY IS THE PLAN? Is there any? Are our leaders found in adopting a specific system? , Is there some sort of curse on the country? Suffice it to say that what we see is an economic recession, but the real challenge is the leadership recession. Where did Nigeria miss it, how did she miss it, What can be done to correct these challenges?

Have you ever wondered what causes that popping sound when you crack your knuckles? Ever wondered why do people even crack their knuckles in the first place? You'd find this article very educating. If you’re a knuckle-cracker, you know how it goes: Sometimes you just don’t feel right until you pull, bend, or push your fingers until they pop and you’re flooded with satisfaction. On the other hand, if you’re not prone to cracking your knuckles, the urge might seem bizarre or even a little gross. What causes that popping sound? For decades, scientists have been trying to figure out what goes on physically to elicit that signature popping noise. A recent study in PLOS ONE has cracked, so to speak, the code behind this weird bodily function, revealing that the sound happens as a result of an air bubble that forms when a joint is pulled apart. The process is technically called “tribonucleation,” or the quick separation of two surfaces followed by a cavity formation, say the researchers in the study. A team of University of Alberta researchers had a study participant place his fingers into a tubular finger trap one at a time. A cable attached to the finger’s tip then slowly pulled until a knuckle cracked. The cracks were caught on MRI video so researchers could investigate what was going on, and each happened in the space of one frame (a.k.a. in 310 milliseconds). While research from 1971 suggested the popping sound was due to the collapse of pre-existing bubbles in joints’ synovial fluid, this finding confirms a 1947 study that found it’s actually the creation of bubbles in the synovial fluid that causes the noise. Think of synovial fluid as the lubricant that exists between two joints. It’s necessary for proper joint and bone movement and comfort. The joint separates, a dark bubble appears in the intervening fluid, and then everything settles back into place. Although the joint looks like it’s back to normal, it has to undergo a refractory period before it can crack again. “The fluid takes time to refill and create the same dynamics it had before,” says Michael Suk, M.D., chairman of the department of orthopedic surgery at Geisinger Health System. “It’s like pouring oil through a very small hole in an hourglass—it takes time for it to fill up again.” Why do people even crack their knuckles in the first place? “There’s both a mental and physical component,” says Suk. “From a mental standpoint, it’s almost a nervous habit for some people, much like drumming their fingers or biting their nails. I think to some degree, there’s a feeling associated with doing it as a mental stress reliever.” Meanwhile, “from a physical standpoint, I think what this study shows is as you create space in the knuckle, you’re decompressing the joint,” says Suk. “In many cases, that can result in greater fluid movement in the joint itself, so your finger feels less constrained.” Are some people just not capable of doing it? Although it seems like some people can crack their knuckles without an issue and others can’t no matter what, that’s likely not the case. “If we understand joints to be what they are, everyone has the potential to crack their knuckles,” says Suk. “The difference is that some people have a lower threshold of pressure for separating them, but others require much more force to create the separation.” Don’t take that as license to apply a ton of pressure just to hear the pop, though. “There have been some reports that people can tear or stretch tendons based on how they crack their knuckles,”says Suk. “Some people pull, while others bend their fingers. Depending on how forcefully you do so, you can injure your hand.”

It is said to be the oldest known Ten Commandments written in Hebrew. The controversial carving is located west of Los Lunas, New Mexico, at the bottom of what is called the "Hidden Mountain." The 80-ton boulder, which is still being called a "mystery stone," a "Phoenician Inscription Rock," or "Mystery Rock," contains the text of the Ten Commandments written in ancient Paleo-Hebrew. "This form of Hebrew writing was used for approximately one thousand years and fell into disuse around 500 B.C.," explained Roni Segal, an academic adviser with eTeacher, an online language academy. According to Breaking Israel News, the boulder is so large it may have been in its present-day location since the time of King Solomon. "The more square-like Hebrew script used today came into common use after King Solomon's reign," Segal continued. "Since the writing on this stone is in Paleo-Hebrew script, archaeologists surmise that this stone dates back to Biblical times." Harvard scholar Robert Pfeiffer, an expert in Semitic languages, confirmed the Paleo-Hebrew script's authenticity and translated the writings as the Ten Commandments, which include, "I am the Lord, thy God, who brought you out of the land" and "Thou shalt have no other gods." Some, like Kenneth Feder, professor of archaeology at Central Connecticut State University, are saying that the stone is fake. "The stone is almost certainly a fake" because it makes use of some modern Hebrew punctuation and contains numerous stylistic and grammatical errors, he said. Late professor and archaeologist Frank Hibben, who had a reputation for fabricating archaeological data, was the first to bring up the stone in 1933. He said that he was first shown the Decalogue by a guide who claims to have found it in the 1880s. Due to the stone's enormous weight and years of not correctly deciphering the inscriptions, its authenticity has never been proved by a laboratory.
