FamilyHow To Enjoy A Blissful Marriage by Samhyme(op): 6:23pm On May 25, 2020
Secret 1
Everyone you marry has a weakness. Only God does not have a weakness. So if you focus on your spouse's weakness you can't get the best out of his or her strength.

Secret 2
Everyone has a dark history. No one is an angel. When you get married or you want to get married stop digging into someone's past. What matters most is the present life of your partner. Old things have passed away. Forgive and forget. Focus on the present and the future.

Secret 3
Every marriage has its own challenges. Marriage is not a bed of roses. Every good marriage has gone through its own test of blazing fire. True love proves in times of challenges. Fight for your marriage. Make up your mind to stay with your spouse in times of need. Remember the vow *For better for worse*. In sickness and in health be there.

Secret 4
Every marriage has different levels of success. Don't compare your marriage with any one else. We can never be equal. Some will be far, some behind. To avoid marriage stresses, be patient, work hard and with time your marriage dreams shall come true.

Secret 5
To get married is declaring war. When you get married you must declare war against enemies of marriage. Some enemies of marriage are:
Ignorance
Prayerlessness
Unforgiveness
Third party influence
Stinginess
Stubbornness
Lack of love
Rudeness
Laziness
Disrespect
Cheating
_Be ready to fight to maintain your marriage zone._

Secret 6
There is no perfect marriage. There is no ready made marriage. Marriage is hard work. Volunteer yourself to work daily on it. Marriage is like a car that needs proper maintenance and proper service. If this is not done it will break down somewhere exposing the owner to danger or some unhealthy circumstances. Let us not be careless about our marriages.

Secret 7
God cannot give you a complete person you desire. He gives you the person in the form of raw materials in order for you to mould the person that you desire. This can only be achieved through prayer, love and Patience

Secret 8
Getting married is taking a huge risk. You can not predict what will happen in the future. Situations may change so leave room for adjustments. Husband can lose his good job or you may fail to have babies. All these require you to be prayerful otherwise you might seek for divorce but marriage is for togetherness until death does you apart.

Secret 9
Marriage is not a contract. It is permanent. It needs total commitment. Love is the glue that sticks the couple together. Divorce start in the mind and the devil feeds the mind. Never ever entertain thoughts of getting a divorce. Never threaten your spouse with divorce. Choose to remain married. God hates divorce.

Secret 10
Every marriage has a price to pay. Marriage is like a bank account. It is the money that you deposit that you withdraw. If you don't deposit love, peace and care into your marriage, you are not a candidate for a blissful home.

So today let us pray for our marriages and ask God to help us where we are lacking in our marriage. May God bless you all

FamilyChildren Are No Longer Retirement Plans by Samhyme(op): 8:03pm On May 02, 2020
I got the permission of a friend of mine to share his story.

We met while we were at University. He was an earnest young man despite all the financial hardships he had. His father was a secondary school teacher, and he rarely sends him money because he had other five siblings.

To be more specific, his father only paid his first-year tuition fee, and that was the end of his father’s investment in his tertiary education. My friend hustled his way out of his bachelor’s degree. We shared food many times, and he was a very peaceful young man. He weathered the storm, and he came with good grades.

He now works for an insurance firm in Lagos Nigeria, and he has been very supportive of his siblings even with the little he makes. In one of our conversations last year, he would like to push his marriage forward to at least support his younger ones to reach a sound stage in their academics.

However, his father would always call him to demand a massive amount of money now and then. When he send him what he can afford, the man will begin to recount how he paid his school fees and sent him to the University. Like a good boy that he is, he would beg his father to manage whatever he can give.

The camelback was, however, broken a few days ago when the father called him that he needs a car to move around because he is now retired and getting old. My friend thought he was joking, but the man kept calling. My friend does not even own a car. When the pressure was getting too, much, he asked his father how much he has saved for the car that he can add some money for him. He was shocked when the father said he expects him to buy the vehicle and send home. After all, he sent him to school.

My friend lost it; he spoke up for the first time. The father has been reporting him everywhere since then.

What are the lessons here;

1. Children are not retirement plans. As parents, we should realise that the times are changing and you don’t want to wreck your children’s life with responsibilities they are not responsible for.

2. Laying big claims on the children because you sent them to school without even considering their current economic status is not only wrong but inconsiderate.

3. Most firstborn children in African families are automatic assistant parents. Parents should appreciate this rather than frustrate them.

4. Sending children to school is not an automatic visa for any parent to use demands to kill the children that are still figuring out their own lives.

5. We may never be able to build generational wealth in Africa if this culture continues.

6. The baby had a daddy, but does the son have a father?

May we have an understanding of the times

PoliticsFG Suspends Employment Indefinitely Over COVID-19 by Samhyme(op): 4:55pm On Apr 19, 2020
Government has suspended recruitments into all Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) indefinitely until when the economy recovers from Coronavirus pandemic.

Sunday INDEPENDENT gathered that the Coronavirus pandemic had halted all recruitment because there had been drastic fall in the price of crude oil which triggered the review of 2020 budget benchmark.

The review in 2020 budget benchmark had had adverse economic effects, so the Federal Government decided to reduce 2020 appropriation bill, so the personnel cost of all miniseries, extra-ministries and parastatals had been reduced due to the pandemic.

A competent source told Sunday INDEPENDENT that “this means all recruitments are suspended for now till one knows maybe when there is increases in crude oil price or when the economy improves drastically.”

The Federal Government had in the second quarter of 2019 approved recruitment into various federal ministries and agencies to enable unemployed graduates to get the opportunity to work and reduced the rate of unemployment in the country.

President Muhammadu Buhari consequently approved recruitment into the Ministry of Interior which had the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) and Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS)

The Nigerian Custom Service (NCS), National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC), Nigeria Police Force (NPF), Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), had since embarked on massive recruitment drives.

The NSCDC, NCS, NDLEA and NPF began their recruitment in the third quarter of 2019, while INEC, CBN, ICPC, and NIS started theirs in the first quarter of 2020.

Several millions of applicants had applied for these different jobs, even as did the Computer Based Test (CBT) expecting calls for final verification and documentation, but the global pandemic put and an end to the exercises.

PoliticsCoronavirus: Reps To Suspend Activities For Two Weeks by Samhyme(op): 2:45pm On Mar 03, 2020
The House of Representatives has resolved to proceed on a two weeks break to avert the spread of Coronavirus.

Nigeria recorded its first case of coronavirus after an Italian national who arrived Lagos from Milan tested positive to the virus, the Federal Ministry of Health said last Thursday.

Several others who were suspected to have had contact with the Italian have been quarantined.

The lawmakers took the decision on Tuesday while adopting a contribution by the Minority Leader, Ndudi Elumelu.

The motion is titled “Emergency response to the dreaded Coronavirus” brought before the house by Unyinye Idem.

EducationSAD! 6th-year Nigerian Medical Student Expelled, Commits Suicide by Samhyme(op): 7:16pm On Jan 23, 2020
At Ternopil State Medical University in Ukraine, a 6th-year Nigerian medical student recently committed suicide following stress and frustration from the university.

The deceased identified as Badmus Olalade Rafiat reportedly took her life after she was expelled from her school for failing to pass the mock exam ahead of the final semester of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS)

Despite Rafiat’s efforts to transfer to another institution and continue with the MBBS as other students usually do, it is reported that the university kept frustrating her and hence denied her the transcript which was required to ignite the transfer process.

Campus Cam has learned that the student was only given the option of returning to Nigeria, reapply for the student’s visa and start the course afresh. After fruitless pleas, Rafiat reportedly wrote a suicide note and took her life on Thursday, January 16th, 2020.

Upon her death, the university administration joined the students’ fraternity and the general Nigerian community in mourning the deceased by putting up a notice bearing her photo on the school’s wall.

They expressed their condolences to her friends and family and asserted that Rafiat killed herself because she was depressed and suicidal.

Rafiat’s friends blame the school authorities and thus have planned a meeting to protest the alleged unfair treatment that caused her to commit suicide.

“Let’s meet in Centre @12 pm,” a notice sent out by Nigerian students in the school read.

RomanceReasons Why Relationships Are Failing by Samhyme(op): 9:29pm On Nov 27, 2019
1. As a society, we are focusing too much on weddings than on marriage. Don’t be big on ceremonies but short on substance.

2. As a society, we love to gossip and talk more about the drama of messed up marriages and celebrate little of the marriages that are thriving. When we pay more attention to negativity, negativity becomes the norm.

3. A lot of us grew up in broken homes and so we don’t know how to build a home. We were incubated in an environment of drunkenness, fear, abandonment, fights and abuse. Unlearn this.

4. A lot of us go through a messy dating scene before marriage, entering into marriage with pain. Heal from your past.

5. The boy-child who was neglected or taught that a man’s worth is the money he makes, grows up to marry a girl-child who in addition to making her own money, has emotional, professional and mental power leading to a clash of genders especially when the man feels insecure and the woman becomes argumentative. We have to learn better gender relations.

6. The cheapening of the beauty of sex. Sexual pleasure has become so easy to get and easy to explore that its beauty in marriage has been watered down leading to heightened infidelity and heart breaks. Restore the beauty and sacredness of love-making.

7. Weak foundations because dating, courtship and pre-marital preparations are shallow. If you want a marriage that lasts a lifetime, build a strong foundation before you start it.

8. Lots of people are getting married without knowing themselves or loving themselves, getting further lost in marriage. When two lost people marry each other, chaos happens. Know yourself before you marry.

9. People are getting married for the wrong motives. If you marry someone because of sex, sex alone will not hold the marriage, it will get boring. If you marry someone because of money, you will leave them once you have your own wealth. If you marry someone for social status, you will treat them better in public than in private for a show. Marry for love, companionship and purpose.

10. There are a lot of voices and marital advice especially from bitter people leading to confusion and bad choices. Be careful who you listen to.

11. We live in a culture of impatience and easy quitting. In this generation of instant things and quick gratification, a lot of people struggle with being patient and tolerant which are qualities required for a successful marriage. Don’t be a quitter, think long-term.

12. We celebrate individualism and independence, we brag about being self-made and being self-sufficient making it difficult to trust someone or need someone. This brings a lot of individualism, selfishness and holding back in marriage. Allow yourself to be loved.

13. Abandonment of Godly values. The irony is a lot of people want Godly families but they don’t involve God in their marriage. We struggle to submit to God as individuals, hence struggle to do so as a couple. If you want the blessings of God, walk in the ways of God.

Education130 Bag First Class At UNILORIN Convocation by Samhyme(op): 9:43pm On Oct 21, 2019
Prof. Sulyman Abdulkareem, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, has said that a total of 130 students would be awarded First Class degrees at the institution’s convocation holding on Wednesday. Abdulkareem told journalists on Monday in Ilorin that 12,009 students would graduate during the university’s 35th Convocation Ceremonies.
According to the vice chancellor, 2,902 graduates bagged Second Class Upper Division, 5,661 had Second Class Lower Division, while 1,392 had Third Class.
Abdulkareem commended TETFund for funding projects in over 47 federal universities and urged Federal Government to address the challenge of insufficiency of funds facing Unilorin. He noted that budgetary allocation to education had dropped from 10.78 percent in 2015 to 7.04 percent in 2018 and called on federal government to increase education budget to 15 percent in order to bring it closer to 26 percent recommended by UNESCO. He said that the university was increasing its internally generated revenue to avoid total dependence on government funding and ensure full implementation of its N36.4 billion 4th Strategic Plan.
Abdulkareem said major research breakthroughs by staff and students of the institution included development of a speed breaker device, invention of an anti-electricity power theft device and innovation of an oil spillage management product which had already been commercialised. Others, he said, included fabrication of a machine capable of producing different shapes of pencil in commercial quantities and the discovery of a potential treatment and cure for Tuberculous, among others.
